Former So You Think You Can Dance choreographer Alex Da Silva has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for raping a former dance student, reports say. Da Silva was arrested back in 2009 for a whole host of felonies. The 43-year-old was charged with sexually assaulting four women, all former dance students of his between the ages of 20 and 26 at the time. Sick. Alex Da Silva on So You Think You Can Dance Da Silva was convicted of one count of rape and one count of assault with intent to rape. The jury deadlocked on the other charges, which were dismissed. Da Silva appeared on Seasons 1-4 of SYTYCD (above, mentoring now- DWTS pro Chelsie Hightower). He was ordered to register as a sex offender for life. Fellow one-time SYTYCD mainstay Shane Sparks was also charged with a sex offense recently, pleading guilty to unlawful sex with a minor.

While some revelations may seem too personal, one expert told MTV News this sort of nothing’s-off-limits coverage comes with the territory. “When you’re a celebrity, it’s open season for the press to scrutinize every aspect of your life, specifically your personal life. Most celebrities are used to being under the microscope like this, but when the scrutiny involves their personal relationships, especially a split, everything is magnified,” celebrity magazine editor David Caplan told MTV News on Friday, just as the 911 call from the night of her health scare hit the Web. “The scrutiny, the press coverage … can be very stressful for a celebrity, because the majority of the information being disseminated about the relationship and the split in the press is often highly critical of the celebrity,” he added. According to TMZ , Moore was taken to the hospital to be treated for substance abuse; People magazine, however, describes the cause of the illness as exhaustion. “Because of the stresses in her life right now, Demi has chosen to seek professional assistance to treat her exhaustion and improve her overall health,” her rep said of Moore’s condition in a statement. “She looks forward to getting well and is grateful for the support of her family and friends.” After enduring a very public and emotional split from husband Ashton Kutcher back in November, it’s easy for fans and the media to assume “the stresses” her rep’s statement refers to are most likely the emotional fallout from her impending divorce. Gingrich assailed, in no uncertain terms, CNN moderator John King for opening the debate by asking Gingrich to answer allegations made by his ex-wife, Marianne, in an interview with ABC News, saying the then-speaker of the House asked to engage in an “open marriage,” or else he would file for divorce. “I am appalled that you would begin a presidential debate with a topic like that,” Gingrich said, earning wild applause from the audience. “To take an ex-wife and make it two days before the primary a significant question in a presidential campaign is as close to despicable as anything I can imagine.” Gingrich disputed the allegations as “false,” and his three fellow Republicans onstage resisted piling on. On Saturday, October 29th of 2011, “Chicken And Beef Present: Monkey Gang: The Mockumentary” had an exclusive screening at the Hollywood Black Film Festival (HBFF). The movie offers a satirical take on the negative elements of hip hop with a mock-documentary about a fictional rap group that seeks success by glamorizing drug dealing and violence. The creators of the movie managed to get reactions from many people in attendance including Jacqueline Blaylock, the director of programming for the festival. While some in attendance, believed the movie went too far and was too harsh on hip-hop culture, renowned blogger Jackie Jasper of Diary Of A Hollywood Street King appreciated the movie’s satire and parody of negativity in rap music and gave the movie two thumbs up. After the screening the movie sparked a lively discussion on rap music as it is portrayed in the media and images of African Americans in the media.
