Earlier this week, Eva Amurri Martino made a startling confession: In a blog post she penned on New Year’s Day, the actress revealed on her website, HappilyEvaAfter.com, that her 10-week-old son Major James, “ cracked his head on the hardwood floor ” after the family’s night nurse fell asleep while holding him. How awful, right? Martino explained what happened and the aftermath as follows: “He suffered a fractured skull and bleeding on his brain, and was transported by ambulance to Yale Medical Center. “I spent two harrowing days with him to receive emergency care and further testing. To say these were the most traumatic and anxious two days of my life is an understatement.” We can only imagine. Our only reaction to this story was to send Eva and her husband our best wishes and our hope that their child makes a full recovery. But some folks out there felt differently. They took issue with Eva having a night nurse in the first place, questioning how she can consider herself to be a responsible parent if someone else is holding, feeding and rocking her baby at home. Why? Because people suck. They think that an Internet connection gives them a right to share every asinine opinion that comes into their head. In response to the incident, her sharing of it and the response it has received, Eva at first showed gratitude to her fans. “Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who has reached out with words of comfort or to share their own stories the past 24 hours,” she wrote on Instagram today, as the opening to a lengthy caption. She continued: “It is so moving to know there are so many of you who are wishing our sweet boy well, and who are rooting us on as a family.” The daughter of Susan Sarandon then addressed her critics. “I’d like to say one thing, which is that Parenthood is not a competition. Nobody gets an award at the end of all of it for doing it the best or most perfect way. “All that matters is how we make our children feel, how we feel about them, and how we feel about ourselves as parents.” Really. Shouldn’t this be obvious? “To those who have expressed judgement, cruelty, and criticism of me, my choices, or my fragility during this time- I’m not going to justify myself to you,” she concluded. “But I sincerely wish that 2017 brings you enough self love and confidence that you no longer feel the need to tear down another person during their darkest moment. “Peace, please. Xx EAM.” She’s a bigger person than we are. We’d have likely used certain words in our reply that our children will hopefully not learn until their teenage years. We have an update on the never-ending, somewhat-hilarious-but-also-very-sad saga that continues to take place between Joseline Hernandez and Stevie J. As has already been established, Hernandez is pregnant with Stevie’s baby. There had been some (that is, A LOT ) of controversy over whether Stevie was the one who fertilized Joseline’s egg with his sperm, but a recent DNA test has confirmed that the impending baby is, indeed, his. But the question of just who will raise this poor child remains. Earlier this month, Stevie J said on social media that he would consider “getting back together” with his fiery ex. But he then filed legal documents that alleged Hernandez is basically a whack job . Like, for real. Stevie wrote to a judge and outlined how Joseline had recently attacked him and how she made him fear both for his life… and the life of his unborn child. In response to this supposed incidents, Stevie asked a judge to order psychological evaluation for his baby mama, along with anger management counseling. As it turns out, Hernandez DID actually attack Stevie J at his home a few weeks ago, reportedly because she thought he was hooking up with another woman. But Stevie has also claimed that Joseline is a drug addict who continued to snort cocaine while pregnant – and Hernandez has now responded to this accusation with proof that Stevie is lying. Just this week, according to TMZ, Hernandez filed her own set of documents with the court, attaching three drug test results that showed she tested negative for various substances, including cocaine, amphetamines and weed. Moreover, Joseline included a note from her healthcare provider that stated she is enjoying a healthy pregnancy (one she keeps photographic tabs on for public consumption often, as you can see above and below). So… case closed, right? Joseline is not taking drugs and her baby is in good health and she and Stevie will reconcile and maybe even raise this child in a happy, calm household? Not quite. In her legal papers, Joseline says she voluntarily submitted to the drug tests, adding that Stevie’s allegation that she has abused drugs throughout the past few months is a disgusting ploy meant to embarrass her. She then took a dig at her ex-lover by saying in official papers that Stevie’s $5,000 check for her medical costs bounced. Khloe kicks off the interview by talking about her denim line, Good American, and how important it was for her to offer a wide range of sizes without referring to any of them as “plus size.” She says that she did that because when she was bigger — she was a size 12 at one point, “god forbid!” — people would “shun” her when she was trying to shop for clothes. She then inexplicably added that her denim line offers jeans with contoured waistbands for women with smaller waists and bigger hips, because “We have booties and hips, and that’s what being a woman is all about.” Sure, girl, whatever you say. But then things get a little more personal. Khloe reveals that she started going to the gym in the first place because “I was going through my divorce, and I just really needed an outlet.” “I would go there and put my headphones on and get on the elliptical or the stairs,” she says, “and no one would bother me or ask me questions — because even at Starbucks, I would get ‘I’m sorry …'” She says that she “escaped” to the gym while she was having issues with Lamar Odom, and “as a by-product, I started losing weight.” Poor Khloe got some hate from people who told her “It took you so long to lose weight,” and she also got it from people who told her “I liked you better when you were fat.” Hilariously and/or depressingly, she adds that “I get body-shamed now that I work out!” It turns out that running is Khloe’s least favorite activity, even though, as she says “I don’t even have big boobs!” She explains that “Losing weight, I’ve lost my little chichis. But that’s OK.” But then the interview took a different turn when Khloe was asked about a different kind of strength — the strength she showed when Lamar overdosed and nearly died last year. On that subject, she says “This is kind of dark, but after that, my whole family changed all of their wills so that I would be their medical adviser, because you don’t know how someone reacts until you’re put in that situation — God forbid.” “No one should be put in those situations, but with that, I found strength from within. I was super calm, and I was more like, ‘It’s greater than you,’ and you just get strength.” “I pray a lot,” she adds. “And I talk to my dad a lot.” That’s not the only time during the interview that she got personal though — she also talked about her boyfriend, NBA player Tristan Thompson. “My boyfriend’s a cutie, so I do like big men,” she explains. “I’m five-ten, and he’s six-nine. I love athletes.” “Someone who has the same interests as me, who likes to work out, like that’s their hobby or their job, that’s fine. Tristan is who I’m into. He’s a little cutie.” So that’s sweet, right? It sounds like, after all she’s been through, she’s feeling peaceful and happy these days. Let’s just hope it lasts.
Alan Thicke, a veteran actor best known and beloved for his role as the patriarch on Growing Pains, died suddenly on Tuesday afternoon. He was 69 years old. According to TMZ, Thicke was playing hockey with his 19-year-old son, Carter, when he collapsed, seemingly of a heart attack. He was transported to Providence St. Joseph’s Medical Center around noon and pronounced dead by doctors at that facility. The star often played hockey at a rink in Burbank, California. Sources confirm to TMZ that he and Carter were on the ice around 11 a.m. when Thicke began experiencing chest pain; he the got nauseous and vomited. The ambulance picked the actor up around a half hour later and took him to the hospital. Thicke received a 1988 Golden Globes nomination for his portraual of Jason Seaver, Growing Pains. A decade later, he was nominated for a Daytime Emmy as a co-producer for the game show Pictionary. More recently, the actor – who was the father of singer Robin Thicke, along with two other kids – and his family starred on the reality show, Unusually Thicke. He also appeared as himself on This Is Us Season 1 Episode 1 . Expect plenty of celebrity condolences to pour in over the coming days and weeks, but here is what a handful of those who knew Thicke well had to say upon learning this sad news: Ellen DeGeneres : America loved Alan Thicke.
