Colin Kroll, CEO and Co-Founder of HQ Trivia, Dead of Apparent Overdose

Colin Kroll, the co-founder and CEO of HQ Trivia, was found dead early Sunday morning in his Manhattan apartment. He was 35 years old. According to TMZ, Kroll’s girlfriend called police and asked for someone to check on Kroll after she grew concerned because she could not get in touch with him. Cops then went to Kroll’s’s downtown Manhattan residence, entered… and discovered Kroll’s body in his bedroom. He was face down and there was drug paraphernalia nearby. It is believed that he died of an overdose. At this point (before any tests have been run, we ought to note), law enforcement officials think Kroll passed away due to a mixture of cocaine and heroin. Kroll was named CEO of HQ Trivia in 2015. A year earlier, he was fired from Twitter after he was determined to be a “bad manager,” most notably because female employees alleged his behavior made them uncomfortable. However, no sexual harassment claims were ever filed. Kroll was also the co-founder of Vine and served as the General Manager of this company/platform between 2013 and 2014. Morever, he was the Chief Technology Officer for Jetsetter. Prior to that role, Kroll worked as the Engineering Manager at Yahoo between 2007 to 2009. Here is the official NYPD statement on the incident: On Sunday, December 16, 2018 at 0018 hours, police responded to a 911 call for a wellness check at 56 Spring Street within the confines of the 5th Precinct. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 35-year-old male unconscious and unresponsive in a bedroom. EMS responded and pronounced the individual deceased on scene. The investigation is ongoing and the Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death. HQ Trivia is a live quiz app; it was launched in August of 2017 and was one of iPhone’s 10 most-downloaded apps in January of this year. At the moment, however, it has fallen down to somewhere between 250 and 500. Representatives for HQ Trivia were not immediately available to comment. Kroll does not leave behind any kids. May he rest in peace. We’ll update this story with more news as it breaks. View Slideshow: Celebrities Who Died in 2018: In Memoriam

90 Day Fiance Recap: "Take the Ring and F-ck You!"

On this week’s new episode of 90 Day Fiance, Eric chose someone he’s known for approximately 90 days over someone he has known literally his entire life: His daughter. How did it even arrive at this point? Leida said she was prepared to call it quits with Eric and head back to Indonesia because he refused to buy her new furniture. That was the reason the pair started to argue at least. Leida explained how was overly stressed about child support and also about Eric’s daughter, Tasha, still living in the house with them. She claimed to be truly fed up and nearly finished with it all. “I feel like I’m forcing myself to get married with you because I don’t want to leave this country cause I have a lot of opportunity to pursue my medical career here,” she told Eric. After some cajoling, however, Leida accepted the child support. However, after she arrived home and saw Tasha’s dirty room, she lost it once again.  “If you’re going to threaten to leave him, get the f-ck out of my country,” Tasha screamed at Leida, sick and tired of her threats. But this was not the route Eric chose to go; nope, Leida actually got him to kick Tasha out, making Tasha feel like her father was selecting Leida over his children. Because that’s exactly what he was doing. “I don’t know where me and my dad stand anymore,” Tasha cried. “I don’t want to just not see my dad anymore, but if this is how it’s going to be, then I guess it’s how it’s going to be.” Crazy, right? And also crazy sad? Speaking of crazy, let’s turn to Colt and Larissa , shall we? The couple is MARRIED , in case you had not heard, but tension still exists between Colt’s family and his now-wife. In an attempt to do away with it, Colt wanted to host a barbecue in the hopes that Larissa, his mom, Debbie, and his cousin John could try to develop some kind of relationship. However, the plan backfired when Larissa started talking about them moving out and leaving Debbie behind, which prompted a great deal of screaming and yelling. You know, par for the Colt and Larissa course. “Nobody will make me believe that just because she’s Colt’s mother she’s allowed to make my life a hell,” Larissa said to John, addng: “I love him and I want to respect his mother, but I won’t put my head down and let someone control me.” Sick of pretending he was in support of the marriage, John went right ahead and took aim at Larissa in response. “You should feel like a damn queen with a rock like that but, no, you take advantage,” John said. “That bitch is here for his money. Period. … This is fake. It’s bullsh-t. That’s not true love.” From there, Larissa disinvited John to her wedding and Colt tried to calm his fiancee down. To no avail whatsoever. “Take your f-cking ring,” Larissa yelled. “Marry the woman your mother like. OK, take the ring and f-ck you.” Were things any calmer for  Ashley and Jay ? These two were feeling uneasy after they received a series of racist and violent threats against them and their wedding. In response, they installed security cameras in their house, yet their friends and family member were dropping out of attending the nuptials because they felt unsafe. The stars figured they had no choice but to elope in Las Vegas as a result. “The racist comments on our website really rattled us,” Ashley said. “Sometimes I think that a scary situation makes you get closer in your relationship.” Finally, we conclude with  Asuelu and Kalani . Their relationship was on the thin ice after they got into a heated exchange last week in front of Kalani’s sister. Kalani felt as if she didn’t want to marry Asuelu anymore, while Asuelu simply grew quiet and shut down any time she brought this up. On Sunday night, however, they tried to talk about their major issues. “You’re not the person that I knew in Samoa,” Kalani said. “You don’t really talk to me. You don’t really try to fix problems.” Asuelu responded with tears, saying he felt a lack physical affection from Kalani. “He really believes that I don’t love him if I don’t want to cuddle him,” Kalani said, seemingly in shock that Asuelu could feel this way. Thankfully, though, this discussed seemed to clear up some problems in their relationship and Kalani even admitted she was excited to plan their wedding.

Inside Surrogacy And The Path To Achieving Motherhood

Go here to see the original:

Source: Kevin Tachman / Getty What was previously a very private, and in some cases unspoken, way to conceive has become one of the most talked about ways to become a mother. Surrogacy has been life-changing for many women whose path to become a mother was not as simple as getting pregnant on their own. This includes several high-profile celebrities like Kim Kardashian West and Gabrielle Union , who have been open and honest about their journey to motherhood through the surrogacy process, however many still don’t seem to know exactly what having a surrogate actually means. If you look at the comments underneath photos of celebrities who have used a surrogate to expand their families, you’ll see a host of trolls commenters who ask very insensitive, rude and downright ignorant questions about how a child can belong to a mother who did not actually carry her. Although a quick Google search could easily give you all the answers you need on the subject, but, the Internet. In an effort to educate, we’ve compiled everything you need to know about the process that has helped many women around the world fulfill their dream of becoming a mother. First off, it’s important to know that there are two types of surrogacy, gestational and traditional. Traditional surrogacy uses natural insemination and the eggs of the surrogate mother to successfully conceive, this is the option most women choose who no longer have viable eggs to use. A traditional surrogate is the baby’s biological mother because it was her egg that was fertilized by the father’s sperm, however donor sperm can also be used. Gestational surrogacy is done through IVF (in vitro fertilization) or intrauterine insemination and the eggs and/or sperm are taken from both the intended parents, or from a donor in the cases where using the eggs and sperm of the intended parents is not a viable option. Source: Mike Coppola / Getty For example, Kim Kardashian West and husband Kanye West welcomed their daughter Chicago earlier this year via gestational surrogate and they used Kim’s eggs and Kanye’s sperm to place inside their surrogate. This means that the child is 100% biologically theirs and shares no DNA with their surrogate. As a result of the actual genetic ties to the child, gestational surrogacy has become more common than traditional surrogacy. About 750 babies are born each year using gestational surrogacy and the process is less complex legally in the U.S. since both parents have genetic ties. As the process of utilizing a surrogate grows, the numbers are increasing. According to a 2016 report, there are more than 35,000 families using surrogacy out of the 80 million people who are affected by infertility. Once you’ve decided that surrogacy is the right route for you to take to expand your family, you then need to know how to choose the surrogate. As WebMD reports , you need to make sure your surrogate meets these requirements: (1) Is at least 21 years old, (2) Has already given birth to at least one healthy baby so she understands firsthand the medical risks of pregnancy and childbirth and the emotional issues of bonding with a newborn, (3) Has passed a psychological screening by a mental health professional to uncover any issues with giving up the baby after birth and (4) Signs a contract about her role and responsibilities in the pregnancy, such as prenatal care and agreeing to give you the baby after birth. Earlier this week, Gabrielle Union announced that she and husband Dwayne Wade welcomed a baby girl via surrogate, but many fans were puzzled about why she was seen wearing a hospital gown and lying in a hospital bed if she had given birth. Well, that process is known as “skin-to-skin” contact and it involves a newborn being placed directly on top on the intended mother for an immediate bonding experience. Since the baby was inside someone else for 9 months, it’s crucial that once born, the baby immediately forms the initial bond with the intended parents. On her long-running reality show Keeping Up With The Kardashians , Kim Kardashian West featured her surrogate in an episode and she discussed the importance of skin-to-skin contact with the whole family. Now, it’s easy to get totally wrapped up in bringing a new bundle of joy into the world, but you also need to be aware of the legal issues and other formal procedures. Surrogacy laws related to parentage vary depending on the state. In states where surrogacy is not supported, intended parents must go through the adoption process to gain legal custody of the child once it’s born. By contrast, states where surrogacy is legal, intended parents are asked to file a pre-birth order known as a “declaration of parentage”. This document allows the intended parents to take home the child after birth and be declared on paper as the legal parents. It’s also stressed that couples have lawyers in place to review all documents, contracts and agreements, to avoid any incidents that may occur. Finally, the cost should definitely be considered because it is not cheap. Surrogacy in the U.S. can cost anywhere between $100,000 to $250,000, depending on the history of the agency used and other unknown costs, such as high-risk pregnancies, bed rest compensation and neonatal care. These costs include fees for the surrogate, agency, laboratory, medicines and hospital bills. The road to motherhood is different for everyone and if you opt to use surrogacy as your method then you should never let the uninformed opinions of others ruin the process of becoming a mother. If you choose to share your journey that’s fine, but you also have the right to keep things private. Here’s hoping that as more people become educated on exactly what surrogacy is, the ignorant comments will fall by the wayside. Stan Lee Dies; Marvel Comics Creator Was 95

Stan Lee, arguably the best known comic book creator of all-time, passed away Monday morning at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. He was 95 years old. Lee’s daughter confirmed this very sad piece of news to TMZ. The website writes that Lee was rushed from his home in Hollywood Hills to the aforementioned facility, although it’s unclear at this time what medical condition prompted the emergency. The legendary writer, however, had suffered numerous illnesses over the last year or so, including a semi-recent bout of pneumonia and a number of vision issues. He had receded from the public eye for most of 2018 as a result. Lee started out in the comic business back in 1939. Along with Jack Kirby, he co-founded Marvel in 1961 via the introduction of The Fantastic Four. He went on to create Spider-Man, Black Panther, The Incredible Hulk, X-Men, Iron Man and The Avengers, among many other notable, memorable and beloved characters. Lee was always revered in the comic book universe, but he became a true pop culture icon about a decade ago after the success of the first Iron Man movie. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has basically taken over the movie world in that time and Lee has made a cameo in every Marvel film to date. In 2009, the Walt Disney Co. bought Marvel Entertainment for $4 billion. Three years later, The Avengers grossed $1.52 billion worldwide take and two years after that, Lee acknowledged his important role not just in the entertainment industry — but in the world as a whole. “I used to think what I did was not very important,” he told the Chicago Tribune in April of 2014, adding at the time: “People are building bridges and engaging in medical research, and here I was doing stories about fictional people who do extraordinary, crazy things and wear costumes. “But I suppose I have come to realize that entertainment is not easily dismissed.” A native of Manhattan, Lee wrote, art-directed and edited most of Marvel’s series and newspaper strips. He also wrote a monthly comics’ column, “Stan’s Soapbox,” signing off with his signature phrase, “Excelsior!” Lee played a vital role as Marvel transitioned into TV during the 1980s, serving as narrator on animated series like Incredible Hulk and X-Men: Pryde of the X-Men, and executive producing the 1990s animated series Spider-Man. In 2002, Lee published an autobiography, Excelsior! The Amazing Life of Stan Lee . Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse  will be the next installment of the Marvel film franchise and will be released next month; it’s very safe to assume there will be a dedication to Lee in the credits. The writer’s survivors include a daughter, J.C., and younger brother, Larry Lieber, who works as a writer and artist for Marvel. Another daughter, Jan, died in infancy. Lee’s wife, Joan, was a hat model whom he married in 1947. She passed away last year. Said J.C. to TMZ shortly after confirming her dad’s death: “My father loved all of his fans. He was the greatest, most decent man.” May he rest in peace. View Slideshow: Celebrities Who Died in 2018: In Memoriam

The Walking Dead Recap: The Whisperers Are Here!

Sunday’s episode of The Walking Dead was all about introducing us to the new world we were thrust into after that long time jump, and that meant we got to meet a lot of new characters.  Even after all those years passed, Michonne was still struggling to get over the supposed death of Rick and reiterated that at the top of the episode.  “I know you’re here,” she said. “I’m still here, too. But it hasn’t gotten any easier.”  Judith, meanwhile, was on a mission to bring the group she found back to Alexandria and knew fine well it would cause problems for Michonne, who was adamant about not allowing new people to join them.  But there was still hope. Michonne allowed one of them to receive health care courtesy of Siddiq and said they could plead their case to the council the following morning.  Gabriel, Michonne, Aaron, Laura, Siddiq, and Nora were part of the said council and settled down to learn everything about these potentially new Alexandrians.  Michonne noticed a flaw in one of the women’s tales and checked her arm. This confirmed the woman had done hard time in the slammer.  But that wasn’t all: The group was told to get rid of all their weapons before entering the town, but Manga went against that rule and carried a knife in with her.  That was enough for Michonne to change her outlook on these new additions, and rightfully so.  Elsewhere, Carol was lapping up her status in the town. She had a new hairstyle, an awesome boyfriend, and was happy for the first time in a long time.  The Kingdom was starting to fall apart, and Carol and Ezekiel wanted it all to be fixed up. Henry wanted to be upskilled to do some more stuff around the town.  But Ezekiel was against it because he wanted to keep the boy safe. We also learned that Hilltop was distancing itself from the other communities.  Carol went on a little adventure with Henry, and the pair found themselves in a trap set up by the Saviors, well, what remained of them.  Carol handed over her engagement ring, and they were allowed to return home. Carol returned later and set the lot of them on fire because they made a fool of her.  Back at Alexandria, the newbies were pissed that Magna’s knife landed them in hot water, and meant they were being sent back out to fend for themselves.  Magna opted to sneak around and got set to kill Michonne … until she noticed there was a kid with her. Oh yes, Michonne had a child with Rick! Magna then handed over her knife and apologized for her hostility. Michonne then had a chat with Judith about what the right thing was for them to do.  In the end, Michonne admitted that there was no home for them at Alexandria, but offered to take them to the Hilltop. The episode closed with Eugene and Rosita trying to install a radio to allow them to have communication with the other communities.  But they were ambushed by zombies and found themselves hearing one of them talking.   What the eff is going on? 90 Day Fiance: Colt and Larissa Fight Leads to Domestic Battery Arrest

Over the weekend, 90 Day Fiance star Larissa Dos Santos Lima was arrested for domestic battery against her husband, Colt. After Larissa's panicked messages to fans, sent while locked in her bathroom, many expected that it would be Colt who was arrested. Now that we've heard both sides of the story, we understand a little more of how this arrest went down, and what led to it. Also, this is not Larissa's first arrest in the last five months. It sounds pretty toxic, folks. And parts of this sound a little terrifying. Beware that there are, obviously, some 90 Day Fiance spoilers here. 1. Colt and Larissa Had a Huge Fight We have both sides of their argument 2. Larissa locked herself in a bathroom She issued what looked like a frantic plea to her followers, saying that Colt had taken her phone and encouraging them to message him to reconnect her. 3. She also seemed afraid that he would call the police When the police arrived, it was Larissa who was arrested, not Colt 4. it started with Larissa being upset Apparently, Colt (probably to avoid spoiling 90 Day Fiance) asked her to not interact with him on social media, which she took personally, and went on an Instagram rant about how it was selfish and hurtful. 5. Colt came home with flowers This apparently did not have the intended effect upon Larissa, which she says that Colt took poorly 6. Larissa accuses Colt Larissa showed her followers video of a mess that Colt allegedly made while angry. That is definitely not good. View Slideshow
