Florida finally got it right! Michael Dunn Sentenced To Life Plus 105 Years Michael Dunn will spend the rest of his life behind bars for the murder of unarmed teen Jordan Davis! NBC News reports: A Florida man convicted of first-degree murder for shooting a teenager to death over loud music was sentenced to life without parole Friday. Michael Dunn, 47, was convicted of killing Jordan Davis, 17, in November 2012 after he shot into a SUV of four teenagers 10 times when an argument broke out over loud music coming from the teens’ vehicle. Dunn was sentenced to an additional 90 years in prison for three attempted murder convictions and another 15 years for firing into an occupied vehicle. “Our justice system works. This case demonstrates that our justice system does work,” said Judge Russell Healey at the sentencing. Dunn was found guilty on three counts of second-degree attempted murder in January, but a mistrial was declared on the first-degree murder charge. A jury in early October found Dunn, who is white, guilty of murdering Davis, who was black. Testimony during the sentencing, including a statement by Davis’ father, Ron Davis, lasted about an hour. Prosecutors did not pursue the death penalty, according to NBC South Florida. BLACK…LIFE…MATTERS!!! Now can they PLEASE arrest Darren Wilson ?!

Maybe now Lolo can prove she’s not a huge Olympic failure. Lolo Jones Adds Excitement To U.S. Women’s Bobsled Team She couldn’t get it poppin’ as a track and field star. If she can’t get the medal as a bobsled athlete, well, UPS is hiring… According to The Gazette: Lolo Jones wanted to become a push athlete in Olympic bobsled competition. She knew her ambition would require a big dose of courage. It’s no secret bobsledding can be perilous. She also knew her ambition would require a more enormous version of Lolo. Jones had made her name as a slim 130-pound world-class hurdler. She needed to add 30 pounds, at least, to prosper as a pusher. “I can eat anything,” Jones said late in 2013 as she looked back on her successful attempt to add weight to her frame. “And it’s awesome.” Jones is the most famous of the athletes who have traveled from other sports to bobsled competition. She is joined on the Olympic team by Lauryn Williams, a gold medal Olympic sprinter, and Aja Evans, who competed in track at Illinois. On the men’s team, Curt Tomasevicz traveled to the bobsled Olympic team from football. He was raised in Shelby, Neb., on land almost as flat as a pool table. He still found his way, with a stop at Nebraska’s football team, to this mountain sport and lives and trains in Colorado Springs. “They ask me if bobsledding is fun,” Tomasevicz said, “and I don’t think I could describe bobsledding as fun with freezing temperatures and spandex and wearing only a helmet as protection, it’s not necessarily fun.” Jones disagrees. She’s been surprised by the sheer joy of bobsledding. She once spent her days trying to run as fast as she could while clearing hurdles, but has found thrills in her role as, borrowing his words, “the engine” of a bobsled race team. “Once you get use to the g-force and how it knocks you around, it’s really quite fun,” she said. Hopefully, this young black man’s family can get justice. Murder Trial Begins For Man Who Killed Teen Over Loud Music Last thing we need is another George Zimmerman. According to CNN: Opening statements begin Thursday in the trial of Michael Dunn, who fatally shot a teenager in Florida following a spat over loud music. Dunn has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder in the death of Jordan Davis, 17, and attempted first-degree murder for shooting at three friends accompanying the teen. The shooting at a Jacksonville gas station in November 2012 is drawing parallels to that of Trayvon Martin, another teenager shot in Florida by watchman George Zimmerman. But a legal expert says the cases are far from similar. In Dunn’s case, he said he asked the four teens to turn down their music after he got annoyed by the “heavy bass” emanating from it. He told police that when he asked Davis and the three teens parked next to him to lower their volume, he heard threats and saw a gun in their car. Fearing for his safety, he said, he grabbed a gun and fired into the vehicle eight or nine times. Dunn was reacting to what he said was a gun being drawn, said Robin Lemonidis, his attorney. Authorities found no guns in the car the teens were riding in. Jordan’s mother, Lucia McBath, said her son’s death has been hard. “The most difficult, challenging year of my life, the most painful year of my life,” she said. This guy is gonna need a lot more people if he wants to convince the jury that he was just “standing his ground” FOH!
