When will people learn??? Racist emails = loss of job. Via NBC 12: A Virginia school board is calling for the resignation of one of its members, after he emailed what some called racist and inappropriate messages to his colleagues. This all goes back to the Isle of Wight school board member Herb Degroft and an e-mail he sent containing naked women and a reference to First Lady Michelle Obama. He forwarded two emails from his county email account. One had a picture with bare-breasted, African female warriors with the caption “Michelle Obama’s high school reunion.” Another e-mail claimed Mrs. Obama was paid $50 to model in National Geographic. Some board members say they have been receiving similar e-mails from Degroft since January of 2012. In retrospect, Degroft admits he made a mistake. He says the e-mails were meant to be political, not racist. When it comes to resigning from his position, he said he is not going anywhere. However, that’s up to voters to decide. He wasn’t the only one who forwarded the e-mails. Isle of Wight Supervisor Byron Bailey did as well. The local NAACP and other community members are asking for both men to resign. SMH. Time unearthed this classic photo from the future President’s 1979 prom in Hawaii. Take a look at the 17-year-old with his date and another couple: Kelli Allman, second from left, says Obama spent his H.S. days studying, playing basketball (as a player on the varsity team) and hanging out with his friends. Allman shares, “It was a really fun, happy time. We were all cracking up, and everyone was smiling. It was pretty typical from there out as far as what happens at prom.” “Dinner and, dancing and the photos, all of that.” Not to mention great hair on the Prez. Michelle Obama Speaks On Higher Education For African-American Students First Lady Michelle Obama is giving her two cents on the lack of priority that young African-American students place on higher education. The FLOTUS recently addressed the graduating class of Bowie State University, which is one of many Historically Black Colleges, where she made it a point to stress the importance of going to college and commended the graduating class for beating the statistics. via Think Progress First Lady Michelle Obama decided to trot out some very old talking points in her commencement address to the 2013 graduating class at Bowie State University: “Today, instead of walking miles every day to school, they’re sitting on couches for hours, playing video games, watching TV. Instead of dreaming of being a teacher or a lawyer or a business leader, they’re fantasizing about being a baller or a rapper,” Obama continued. “Right now, one in three African American students are dropping out of high school, only one in five African Americans between the ages of 25 and 29 has gotten a college degree.” But priorities should change, she said, because “getting an education is as important if not more important than it was back when this university was founded.” The first lady is known for keeping it 100 when she speaks, and this time was no exception. Just moments ago, the FBI released photos of two suspects in Monday’s Boston Marathon bombings and asked for the public’s help identifying them: FBI Agent Richard DesLauriers said at a news conference that one these two suspects is believed to have planted the devices near the finish line of the race. The FBI says both men are considered armed and extremely dangerous. The explosions Monday killed three people and injured more than 180. Moments after the FBI posted pictures of actual suspects – not the rumored Boston bombing suspects reported earlier today – the agency’s website crashed. It’s unclear if either of these alleged suspects are the same individuals turned up by the Internet-led Reddit and 4Chan Think Tank suspect -finding boards. The images were released hours after President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama attended a service at a Roman Catholic cathedral in Boston. Amid the day of mourning was the frenzied, ongoing investigation. The man Deslauriers called Suspect One at the press conference this afternoon is seen wearing a dark hat, while Suspect Two is wearing a white hat. Deslaurier said Suspect Two is believed to have set a backpack down in front of the Forum restaurant along the marathon route near Copley Square. Deslauriers said the two men appeared to be walking together along Boylston Street in the vicinity of the explosions, and are considered suspects. “We know the public will play a critical role in identifying and locating these individuals. Somebody out there knows these individuals,” Deslauriers said. If you know anything about the suspects, contact authorities. “You can pay for school but you can’t buy class…” 10 Classy Celebrities It’s been said that the Hollyweird life is not one for the faint at heart or those without a thick skin. In addition to that, it truly takes a certain type of individual to be able to enjoy all of the perks that come along with fame and fortune, while also still managing not to spazz out and totally sabotage your reputation in the face of the ugly side of the lime light that threatens to ruin the livelihoods of celebrities every day.
