Dolly Parton: “I Was Horny & Young Like Miley Cyrus!”

Country legend Dolly Parton speaks out in Miley Cyrus’ defense, claiming she was once just as young and horny. Horny? Dolly is a big fan of Miley, who seems to have recently learned the power of the crotch flash, and will always support her as a good fairy godmother would. Katy Perry Compares Miley Cyrus to Britney Spears

Last month, Miley Cyrus compared herself to Britney Spears . Now, Katy Perry has gone ahead and done the same thing – but with a very different meaning behind it. According to Life & Style , Perry caught a glimpse of Miley’s outfits at the 2010 MuchMusic Awards and said to a friend: “Oh my God, poor girl… She’s Britney Spears all over again. It’s happening right before our eyes… she’s definitely headed the Britney route. It’s worse. Look at those outfits. It’s bad.” We’ve been saying the same thing for weeks, of course… but we don’t go around posing for Esquire like this . Makes it a bit tough for Perry to present her case, doesn’t it? Meanwhile, Cyrus joined Dolly Parton on stage for a duet outside Knoxville this weekend. She actually sounded great, making her current image that much more frustrating. As you can see below, when Miley sings country and wears clothing, she’s a quality artist: Miley and Dolly

Dolly Parton Says She’s Miley Cyrus’ ‘Fairy Godmother’

‘But I think the girl’s doing all right without me,’ country music legend says of the teen star. By Mawuse Ziegbe Miley Cyrus Photo: Theo Wargo/WireImage Miley Cyrus has a country star watching over her, and it’s not just dear ol’ dad (and “Hannah Montana” co-star) Billy Ray Cyrus. Country legend Dolly Parton says she’s also looking out for the teen queen. “I’m her fairy godmother,” Parton told The Associated Press. The “Can’t Be Tamed” singer and the blonde icon joined forces in May for a duet — a rendition of Parton’s 1973 hit single “Jolene” — during a celebration of Dollywood, the singer’s namesake Shangri-La. Parton showed the teen superstar some love after performing with her for the Hallmark Channel special taped earlier this year, commemorating 25 years of the Tennessee theme park. Miley has been getting some heat lately for what her critics say is an increasingly sexed-up image; a budding persona at odds with the inoffensive sass of the Disney series which launched the teen to stardom. However, Parton, who has built a decades-long career and entertainment empire blending sweet, down-home wholesomeness with bubbly, busty sex appeal, maintains that Cyrus is headed in the right direction. “I’m just real proud of her,” Parton said. “She does not need my advice, but she’s often asking for information and advice, and I tell her what I know, but I think the girl’s doing all right without me.” In addition to the Miley/Dolly duet, the special will feature performances from Kenny Rogers and Billy Ray, who has known Parton since he first burst onto the scene in the early ’90s with his mega-hit “Achy Breaky Heart.” Parton said the tribute show thoroughly represents the successful amusement park. “There are a lot of wonderful things,” she said. “It shows the park really great, and the audience and all the people that work here, so we’ve really covered it in every respect.” Should all teen pop stars have fairy godmothers and godfathers to look out for them? Miley Cyrus Previews Final Season of Hannah Montana

Between the lack of pants and abudance of simulated same-sex kissing , it’s easy to forget that Miley Cyrus still portrays Hannah Montana on the Disney Channel. That series kicks off its final season on Sunday night and Miley previewed it a press conference this week. “[It’s about] her graduating, and seeing what college is all about and seeing whether she wants to pursue her career or go to school and try to live a normal life,” Cyrus told reporters. “I can’t believe it’s already coming to an end, either. I mean, it just feels like we kind of just started.” Will Miley’s musical makeover negatively affect her TV show’s viewership? Looking back on the series, Miley credits herself for starting a trend. “It kind of has opened so many doors for other artists on Disney, too, to be able to involve music and acting and all that. I definitely didn’t expect it to take off the way that it did, especially so soon.” But we can’t help but wonder: will Miley’s transformation into an adult artist hurt Hannah Montana ? Will she lose viewers, as her latest album clearly lost fans . Cyrus says she can’t worry about that: “I can’t only base my career off of the 6-year-olds. It’s the 16-year-olds, the 26-year-olds, that’s I’m trying to reach for now. That’s not letting the younger kids down. I will continue to do things that will be good for them, too. But, I also have to move on.” Will you move on with her?

Eclipse Cast Sounds Off on Miley Cyrus

For the record, Miley Cyrus hates pop music , Glee and, of course, pants . Now, the singer has added something else to her list of disdain. In an interview with E! News last week, the singer said: “I hate vampires.” Naturally, this led the network to speak to members of the Eclipse cast about Miley’s comments and they replied as follows: Taylor Lautner : “She doesn’t need to like vampires. As long as she likes werewolves, we’re cool.” Peter Facinelli : “I’m not necessarily a huge vampire fan, but I do love the books that Stephenie Meyer created. I love that you don’t see fangs. It’s not a horror movie by any means.” Elizabeth Reaser : “I’ve always been a fan of vampires since I was a little girl. I loved all the Anne Rice books. Maybe Miley’s resisting. Maybe they’re so popular now that it’s annoying or she’s sick of seeing us.” Kellan Lutz : “She hasn’t met me then. I would change her opinion on that, I’m sure. I have my ways.” Ashley Greene : “That’s so unfortunate because I love her new songs… I’m going to sit Miley down and force her to watch Twilight .”

Farting Man-Boy, Elaborate Serial Killer and Bono Among New Oscar Voters

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences — a group so white, old and out-of-touch you’d think you’re at a Republican convention — has decided perhaps more people would watch their dog and pony show if their choices were a little more hip. In an effort to pump fresh plasma into their dusty veins, the AMPAS has inducted a whole slew of new Academy members. Among the rarefied few are Adam Sandler, Christoph Waltz, Tobin Bell of Saw infamy, along with some much needed non-white, non-male voices like Mo’Nique, Zoe Saldana and Gabourey Sidibe. On the other side of the camera, noted-Miley Cyrus despoiler Adam Shankman is on the list, as are Bono and The Edge, and Christian Bale’s favorite cinematographer , Shane “f*cking distracting!” Hurlbut. Check out the full 135-person list after the jump.

Miley Cyrus: I Empower Women!

Note to Miley Cyrus: if you have to say you’re a role model, you’re probably not a role model. In a new interview with MTV News, Cyrus says she empowers young women – or at least tries to. Referring to new songs such as “Can’t Be Tamed” and ” Liberty Walk ,” the 17-year who hates wearing pants says: “It’s just about freeing yourself from anything you think is holding you back. And I think that’s really important, especially for girls, because so many people are told, ‘No, you can’t do something,’ or, ‘You need to be this because Mom and Dad say that, teachers say this.'” Yes, Miles, sometimes mom, dad, teachers and grown-ups with actual life experiences know better than their 15-year old daughters. Almost at all times, in fact. Miley’s truly profound, not remotely cliched advice for her young fans? “Really think about what you want to do for the rest of your life. There’s a short amount of time, when you think about it, and no day needs to go by wasted.” It’s true. Why bother wasting that time by putting on clothing , right, Miley? THG’s feelings on Cyrus are quite well-known. So let’s turn this over to our readers: Do you think Miley is an empowering figure for young girls?

Taylor Lautner Calls ‘Stretch Armstrong’ Superpower The ‘Worst’

‘It’s like the worst superhero power, possibly, to get,’ Lautner jokes of title character’s limb-extending abilities. By Eric Ditzian Taylor Lautner Photo: MTV News Taylor Lautner is looking to go from one shape-shifter to another. As the 18-year-old actor heads off in the fall to shoot the final two parts of the “Twilight” series for “Breaking Dawn” — slipping once again into the role of werewolf Jacob Black — he’s also got his eyes on his title role in “Stretch Armstrong,” a big-screen adaptation of the Hasbro action figure. As the title implies, this cinematic Stretch is an anxious spy who exposes himself to a formula that allows him to physically stretch his body to extremes. That power is hardly as cool as the ability to fly or shoot lasers from your eyes — in fact, it’s kinda lame — but as Lautner himself points out, that’s the point. “It’s like the worst superhero power, possibly, to get, and how you’re going to take that and use it for good and how you’re going to be creative with that [is the predicament],” Lautner told MTV News. The emphasis should be on the word “creative.” Unlike comic book franchises such as “Iron Man” or “Batman,” “Stretch” has no established story lines, giving screenwriter Nicholas Stoller a ton of latitude as he crafts the movie’s world. “The awesome thing with toys is it doesn’t give you a story line, so you get to create it,” Lautner added. “The development process for this movie has been awesome and it’s going to continue to be. I just can’t wait to see a script.” Right now, the actor is gearing up to shoot “Abduction” in the summer, followed by “Breaking Dawn” in the fall. Lautner is waiting to get his hands on the “Stretch” script before he slots the production into his schedule. There’s no set time for filming to commence on the 3-D film, which is slated for a 2012 release. “Nick [Stoller is] a genius, so I couldn’t be happier with the fact that he’s writing the script right now,” Lautner said. “I just want to see it.” Do you think Taylor will make a good superhero? Or is he forever Jacob Black in your eyes? Tell us in the comments! For breaking comic book movie news, columns and more — updated around the clock — visit SplashPage.MTV.com . Glam Nation Sensation: Adam Lambert Kicks Off Tour in NYC

Adam Lambert kicked off his Glam Nation summer tour last night in New York City with an impression of the Mad Hatter, a bit of man-on-man action and, of course, great music. The artist performed at the Nokia Theater and because we’ve been critical of Miley Cyrus for a simulated same-sex kiss, we must be consistent and say: Axe that antic, Adam. It’s not original and, more importantly, it takes away from your talent as a singer. A fantastic performer such as yourself need not rely on shock value to make an impression. At this point, swapping spit with a fellow dancer or musician on stage (as seen below) is simply derivative, no matter the gender, sexual orientation or singer involved… That critique out of the way, we adore Adam Lambert. Few artists out there deliver the kind of energy, enthusiasm and creativity as this former American Idol finalist. Click on the pics below to get closer looks at him in concert last night… [Photos: Splash News]
