Imagine what would happen if a man in a bar told a group of Navy SEALs that he: Disagrees with the war. Believes they (the military) are murderers, killing innocent people… men, women and children Thought they probably deserve to lose a few of their own. Former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum surged into third place in a new Iowa, and the Republican Presidential hopeful took this piece news as an opportunity to slam one of the two people ahead of him: Ron Paul. A CNN survey showed Santorum with 16 percent support in Iowa, in advance of the January 3 caucuses. Mitt Romney has 25 percent and Paul 22. Santorum, who struggled to gain traction for an entire year, finally has in part due to Newt Gingrich’s collapse. Asked about Paul’s support, he said : “Ron Paul says he’s going to eliminate five departments. Ron Paul passed one bill in 20 years. What give you the idea that he can eliminate anything?” “I mean, he has absolutely no track record of building any kind of coalition to get anything done anywhere,” Santorum said. “I understand the appeal that Ron Paul has: it’s simple, it’s short – but there’s no track record there.” “What people in Iowa like about Ron Paul is all of his economic talk which requires Congress to act of which he has showed no ability to get them to do.” “What they don’t like about Ron Paul is this craziness about cutting the military in half and getting our troops out of everywhere. He can do that. He can actually order that on day one – all our troops around the world to come home.” Santorum called Paul’s foreign policy “far to the left of President Obama.” “I mean he’s out in the Dennis Kucinich wing of the Democratic Party. Don’t laugh! That’s where he is. This country is not going to elect Dennis Kucinich President. I don’t care how much government he wants to cut.” He said the “danger” of Paul’s policies “should just chill every Iowan.” “People say, ‘Well he won’t really do that.’ Well he’ll be 78 years old. How many 78-years-olds say – after saying this for 30 years – change their mind?” “Let’s just be honest. By then you are sort of set in your ways. It’s not like this is new, so let’s get serious about what message Iowa is going to send to the country, and the message has to be that we want a responsible conservative.” Just a few observations here: Paul is actually 76, FYI. Paul’s supporters will likely be more energized the more people go after him. Santorum lost his Senate seat by 17 points in 2006. When you Google Ron Paul, this doesn’t happen .
SMDH … As owner of A-Z Outlet in Holland, Bryan Vandenbosch has purchased a lot of electronics, jewelry, and tools, but after almost 19 years in business, he bought something he never expected — a Purple Heart, a medal awarded to U.S. soldiers wounded in battle. This one was earned in Afghanistan in May 2010. “(The soldier had) been in here the week (before Thanksgiving),” says Vandenbosch. “He brought it in the following week, I purchased it from him, and put it on display.” Vandenbosch says the active duty solider, on leave from Afghanistan, was reluctant to sell the medal at first, but like a lot of people, he needed a little extra cash for the holiday season. So, the soldier gave up one of his two Purple Hearts — something he almost gave his life to get. As word began to spread about the medal, Vandenbosch says the phone has been ringing off the hook with people wanting to help. “I have people that have walked in already this morning that have asked me `hey, how much did you pay for it? I’ll pay for it so he can get it back,’” he says. One of those people is Garrett Vanderduim, a Vietnam veteran. “A purple heart is a treasured thing among service guys, and it stands for a lot,” explains Vanderduim. “I thought it would be a good thing to help out, especially during Christmas time.” But the medal is not for sale, and the store owner says he’ll keep it safe until the soldier decides to come back. “(In case) the gentleman wants it, it’s never going to be sold,” he says. Now, nestled between diamond earrings and a gold watch lies the military medal. It’s quite a sight for Carlos Mendez, who was born in Cuba, and doesn’t take his rights as an American for granted. “When I see something like that it’s just awesome that somebody is willing to go out there and defend our freedom,” Mendez says. Many items in the pawn shop have a story; from the green leather suit that gave a woman enough money to leave an abusive marriage, to a musical instrument that paid for cancer treatments, but the story behind each Purple Heart is one that affects every American. “It means the ultimate sacrifice for your country,” Vanderduim says. “(The soldier was) wounded, you can’t get much closer to the end than that.” This says so much about us as a country and the things and people we value most… Source

(John Hinderaker) We have followed events in Egypt with little enthusiasm, as the “Arab Spring” there appears to be dominated not by pro-Western liberals, but by Islamic radicals who see the opportunity, finally, to overthrow the secular regime they have battled for decades. So J.Lo’s Casper’s first real girlfriend? How does that work when she’s already had three husbands?! 42-year-old Jennifer Lopez and her new 24-year-old toyboy lover Casper Smart have been inseparable in recent weeks, accompanying her and her twins to Hawaii over Thanksgiving and more recently, on a trip Morocco. While some have painted him as a wild womanizer, his family have spoken out to insist that he’s a clean-living, religious man who has never ever even brought home a girl to meet his parents. His father Roy, 58, declared: ‘I don’t remember any girlfriends in the past. Certainly nothing serious. He’s been an elusive kind of a guy with girls. He never brought any girl home or anything. I thought he was single but he doesn’t really tell me about his love life.’ Speaking about the huge exposure Casper – who’s known as Beau to his family – has had since he was revealed to be getting close with J-Lo, Roy said: ‘Nothing bothers him, he’s a confident guy. He’s got a good head on his shoulders, but he’s pretty shocked at the all the interest in him. He doesn’t drink, he doesn’t do drugs – he’s a Christian and has got his head straight.’ Roy revealed Casper was coy about the new romance when he spoke to him on the phone about it. He said: ‘He just wants to keep a lid on it. They’re friends, they’re on the road together. ‘He told me she’s a nice girl, she’s regular but he didn’t let any of us believe it was anything more than just a working relationship.’ However Roy, a music teacher, said he would welcome J-Lo to into his modest home on the outskirts of Los Angeles – if his son brought her to meet him. He said: ‘That’s a thought – well that would be fun. Of course I would welcome her.’ He also said if his son is indeed getting serious with J-Lo their age difference shouldn’t be a problem. “Most people think an age difference is a big deal but I think it’s inconsequential,” he said. Roy and Casper’s mother Shawna are separated. He lives with his new partner Vicky and their son Cory. Casper also has an older brother Brandon who is in the military. Speaking about how his son’s talent for dancing emerged, Roy said: ‘He was born in Anaheim and grew up in the OC (Orange County). ‘He played the saxophone when he was young and when you sat him in front of a piano he would be able to pick up a tune straight away. ‘He surprised me with the dancing. When he was in his teens he all of a sudden started practicing dancing, his mom is a dancer and I’m a musician so he definitely had it in him. He’s very talented. ‘But for him to all of a sudden be in Hollywood doing dancing stuff surprised the hell out of the whole family.’ Roy said Casper was over the moon when he got chosen as a dancer by J-Lo, he said: ‘I don’t know exactly when he started dancing with Jennifer but she hand-picked a group of guys to go dancing on the road with her and I just think Beau and his dance team were in the right place at the right time. ‘He was excited. It was a good break for him. He’s privileged to work with her.’ Speaking proudly of his son’s achievements, Roy added: ‘He’s danced with Beyonce as well, he’s been in movies but he doesn’t boast about it or anything. ‘He’s a humble person.’ Roy hit out at bloggers who have been writing unkind things about his son since he hit the headlines this week. ‘It’s unfair, I hope all this hype calms down and people leave him alone.’ Casper’s uncle Tab Larsen from Cypress, California, said: He’s a good kid, I’ve nothing bad to say about him. I never heard of him getting involved in drink or drugs or anything like that , he’s always been focused on his career.’ We shall see if this lasts the rest of the year even. But we’re willing to bet that J.Lo is having lots of fun getting her rocks off with this young bol’ right now. Source More On Bossip! Wanna Know How Much These Stars Really Weigh??? True Love? Taylor’s adorable new kitten Meredith also makes a cameo in just-released Speak Now clip. By Kara Warner Taylor Swift on the set of “Ours” Photo: Big Machine via Instagram That Taylor Swift sure does know how to work the “awww!” effect into her music, and even more so in her sweet and wholesome music videos, with their varying themes on love: whether it be lost, won or rekindled. Her latest clip is for the country-tinged ballad “Ours,” a bonus track from last year’s Speak Now, which debuted Friday evening (December 2) on E! Once again, Swift serves up nearly four minutes of sweetness. The video opens up on a generic office building, in all its beige-toned, boring glory, full of disgruntled employees. Enter a dressed-down Swift wearing very little makeup, slightly frizzy hair and a bland suit and skirt with office-worker-lady-standard sneakers. Throughout her workday, Swift gets jostled around in the elevator, harassed at her desk and defeated by a typically defiant copy machine and passes the time reminiscing about what we assume to be a lost love (played by “Friday Night Lights” cutie Zach Gilford), whom we see in cute flashback videos she plays on her work computer (which features a blink-and-you-miss-it wallpaper picture of Swift’s adorable new kitten, Meredith), then later via her iPad when she’s on the bus. The videos show Swift and Gilford playing in the leaves, snuggling together, Gilford playing with Meredith the scene-stealing kitten, playful wrestling on the couch, etc. As Swift’s workday winds down, she seems to get more smiley and excited, particularly when she leaves for the day, and we soon find out why — her lost love was overseas serving in the military, and she meets him at the airport for an adorably sweet hello-again embrace. As we mentioned before, it’s an “awww!” moment, which makes the video “awww”-dorable. What do you think of Taylor Swift’s latest video? Let us know in the comments below! Related Artists Taylor Swift
