Nicki Minaj, Mark Zuckerberg Shake Up ‘Saturday Night Live’

Facebook founder meets onscreen alter egos Jesse Eisenberg and Andy Samberg, while Minaj rocks the stage and hilarious sketches. By Mawuse Ziegbe Nicki Minaj Performs “Moment 4 Life” on “SNL” Photo: NBC Jesse Eisenberg just scored an Oscar nomination for his portrayal of Facebook wunderkind Mark Zuckerberg, and on “Saturday Night Live” he got the chance to share the screen with his real-life inspiration. After Eisenberg prattled on about how confident he is in comparison to the characters he often plays, Andy Samberg crashed “The Social Network” star’s opening monologue as a bratty version of Zuckerberg. The two compared their Zuckerberg styles — Eisenberg speaks in short sentences, while Samberg just wears a sweatshirt and says “I’m Mark Zuckerberg” — while the real social media whiz chopped it up backstage with “SNL” executive producer Lorne Michaels. Eventually, the 26-year-old billionaire took the stage, and when it was revealed that Eisenberg and Zuckerberg have never met, Samberg quipped, “Awkward!” and ran off. Zuckerberg then called the Oscar-nominated tale of the origins of Facebook “interesting,” and Eisenberg graciously let the Internet entrepreneur introduce the show. Eisenberg assumed a number of alter egos on Saturday’s broadcast, like the horny adolescent who rubbed balloons on his partner’s private parts during a demonstration of static electricity on “Mr. Wizard’s World.” The “Network” actor also turned up as a hapless contestant on VH1’s “Don’t Forget the Lyrics” who blurts out whatever’s on his mind, like belting “one extra testicle” instead singing Robert Palmer’s “A Bad Case of Lovin’ You.” The star also turned up in a sketch reminiscent of his “Network” performance, as a college student who gets roped into a television interview with a surly, geriatric reporter who easily loses his train of thought and continuously slams his mic into Eisenberg’s face. Eisenberg also appeared as a castmember of MTV’s “Skins” who is reduced to hawking fried chicken and used cars by reciting clumsy product-placement lines, and paired with Samberg once again for an ad for “El Shrinko,” a product that reduces man bits to a size the ladies like — or so they say. Eisenberg also joined forces with musical guest Nicki Minaj for the “Bride of Blackenstein” sketch. Minaj played a bootylicious but mouthy creation of a groovy evil genius while Eisenberg hobbled along as the hunchbacked flunky. Minaj also rocked a digital short as a geeky voyeur with an affinity for eyeing folks during inappropriate times like, say, a funeral, and even showed viewers how to do the Peeping Tom-approved dance “The Creep.” In addition to showing off her funny side, the Trinidadian-born MC also treated viewers to two theatrical stage performances. Minaj first played “Right Thru Me,” taking the stage in a voluminous mauve ball gown made of frilly tiers as pink-tinted fog enveloped the set. The star topped off the dress with a two-toned version of the Gumby-shaped wig that captivated fans when she recently hit London. Perhaps it was the gigantic gown, but Minaj stayed put for most of the song. However, she did keep the energy up by dipping in and out of her animated voices. Minaj ditched the princess look for a funky colorful bodysuit for “Moment 4 Life.” She also swapped out her Gumby wig for the towering, streaky hairpiece from her “Bride of Blackenstein” sketch, and added thigh-high magenta boots. This time, Minaj took advantage of the stage, energetically strutting around. The MC crouched and gyrated throughout the set as she showed off her singing skills, and wrapped up the performance with a dramatic pose and sneer — the type of out-of-nowhere zaniness her fans have come to crave. “I mean, to be raised in New York, and to always hear about ‘SNL,’ ” Minaj told MTV News last week. “I never had the honor of getting a pinkie toe in the building, now [I’m] here and it feels incredible.” What did you think of “SNL” this week? F*ck A Thug: Brother Attacks Sister’s Accused Killer In Court And Explains Self! [Video]

This story pisses us off! We commend the brother and keep him him our prayers. The October 2009 shooting death of Jilani Platt had been “eating” at her brother for more than a year. Tuesday morning, when 30-year-old Jeryl Carter saw the man accused of killing his sister — her husband 33-year-old Zyderrious Platt — enter a Muscogee County Superior Court, those feelings boiled over. Carter leaped over the railing in Judge Bobby Peters’ courtroom and rushed Platt, who quickly stood and backed away as deputies moved in. “For the last year, it’s been on my mind,” Carter said after returning to his Columbus home late Tuesday afternoon. “It’s been eating at me. To see him come out and see him sit in the courtroom like he was going to watch his favorite TV show … he didn’t give a damn what he did. It kind of irked me. It kind of got to me.” Platt reacted by grabbing a wooden chair in what appeared to be an attempt to fend off Carter, who grabbed the chair and threw it at Platt. The chair fell to the floor. No one was injured in the incident, and Peters decided that Carter will not be charged, Muscogee County Sheriff’s Maj. Randy Robertson said. “I’ll kill him; I’ll kill him,” Carter yelled as he was being subdued by deputies. “My sister didn’t deserve that s—. … I am going to kill him. Please let me kill him.” Carter focused on the smirk he said Platt had on his face. “A lot of rage and anger came out of me,” Carter said. “I can’t get it out of my mind. I can’t get over it.” Platt was accused of killing his 10-week pregnant wife, Jilani Platt, 26, in October 2009. He faces charges of murder, feticide, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. The trial started after an hour delay and will continue today. Carter said he held no ill will toward the deputies who tackled him to the floor and handcuffed him. “It would make me feel a lot better if he wasn’t alive,” Carter said. “If I could have just gotten my hands on him. I’m tired. I’m exhausted. I’m not no evil person to wake up that mad every day. It’s not normal. It’s not natural.” Deputy reacts to incident Deputy Charles Nathan, a 23½-year veteran of the sheriff’s office, had just left the jury room and was walking toward Platt when the disturbance began. “I heard a noise and I turned and I saw one of the family members coming over the rail,” Nathan said. “I’m trying to figure out what was going on. When he went over the rail, I knew what was going to happen.” Nathan said he deflected the chair to the floor when Carter threw it at Platt. Other deputies rushed Carter, and Nathan lost his footing for a second before he righted himself and grabbed Carter’s legs. Another deputy had Carter by the torso and both deputies took him to the floor. Nathan helped hold Carter to the floor until he was handcuffed and taken from the courtroom. “When I heard him say, ‘My sister,’ I understood what he was doing,” Nathan said. “He’s got his own ideas, and we’re there to prevent him from doing what he was doing.” Robertson said Carter was held in a room in the Government Center most of the day. A deputy drove Carter home just before 5 p.m. Carter was not handcuffed in the room and no one was there with him, though he was being monitored, Robertson said. Peters was on the bench at the time of the attack. The judge left the courtroom and then returned, walking to the railing to pick up a shoe and umbrella near where the attack started. When Carter was taken home, he only wore one shoe. The jury was not seated and court officials were waiting for the jurors at the time of the attack. The start of the trial was delayed, though the attorneys gave their opening statements and witnesses began testifying before lunch. Family history Carter’s sister was three years his junior. They grew up together with their brother, Phillip. “She was good at school and stuff like that,” Carter said. “She used to love to help other little girls. She was thinking about going to science school, but she stopped it and decided to have a family.” Carter’s sister and Zyderrious Platt had known each other for about five months before they eloped. They lived with her mother for a while before moving to their Crystal Drive home. They were married about 18 months, Carter said. One day, Carter said, he saw what he called a “scar” on his sister’s face. He asked where she got it, and she told him she and her husband had been fighting. Carter went to Zyderrious Platt’s home and waited for him to arrive. Carter said nothing to him when he did. “The moment I seen him, I dove in his ass,” Carter said. “I beat him until he gave up. There was no need to talk to him. Talking to him wouldn’t have did no good.” Jilani Platt was scheduled to pick up her nephew for a youth football game on the day she went missing. Carter said his family knew something was wrong when she failed to show up. “He said some mess like she just walked out the door,” Carter added. “She started to realize that he wasn’t the man you could build a family with. I think she realized there was no saving the relationship and she was ready to end it.” Opening statements The trial resumed after an hour delay. Assistant District Attorney Michael Craig began his opening statement by telling jurors about Jilani Platt, whose maiden name was King. Once a student of Shaw High School, she cared for hospice patients and taught biology. She was preparing to take a test to become a pharmacist. “She was going places,” Craig said. “She had big dreams, big plans. On Oct. 3, 2009, her dreams, her hopes, her life came to a grinding halt.” Craig said that Jilani Platt met with a friend around 10 p.m. Oct. 2. They dropped off Jilani Platt’s nephew at his house, and she told him she’d pick him up the next day for a youth football game. R.I.P. Source

Jennifer Hudson Gushes On And On About Her Upcoming Wedding And Relationship With Punk

Jennifer Hudson sounds really happy: On her wedding dress and wedding details: “Everything is already set. We already have our wedding bands and everything made, and Neil Lane made them. I designed [my dress] myself. I did. It has its own show. It is a show, so it has to have its own moment with special lighting and everything, and theme music. Oh, I am so serious. It’s white. That’s the color, in keeping with tradition. Baby came first, but hey. Oh my God, [planning] is so hard, and then the bride has to make all the decisions, and that’s a lot of pressure. It’s like ‘I don’t know what I want!’ One minute I wanted this huge, grand wedding, and now I’m like ‘I don’t know that I want it so big.’ I have to make up my mind again. We’ll have to wait and see, but I know I’ll be wearing Neil Lane.” David, Jr. will look just like his father in his tux. So cute. I’ll have both my Davids. Maybe he’ll walk Mommy down the aisle. That would be so cute!” On her and David’s “Punk and Punky’s” adventuresome relationship “We’re two big, giant kids, and we have the best time together. We call it our Punk and Punky adventures. [laughs] That’s how we are. I think we complement each other well. He’s a genius, he’s super smart, and I think he’s the perfect man for me. That’s the thing – you never know [what adventures]. We’ll just get up, and then there’s the day, and we’ll have no idea what’s going to happen, but we end up not like on this winding, never-ending journey, like ‘OK, what are we doing? What’s happening today?’ but it’s like we’re friends first, and we enjoy each other’s company, and it’s a lot of fun. It’s us together. These adventures are random, he snatches me out of bed, like ‘let’s go!’ It’s like ‘ohh! Where are we going?’ It’s like we’re on the David roller coaster. [laughs].” Awww how wonderful…good for her! Kim Kardashian Says She Gives Up The Glam In Hype Williams Video

Reality starlet tells MTV News veteran video director focused on Kim ‘the artist’ for upcoming ‘Turn It Up’ clip. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Christina Garibaldi Kourtney and Kim Kardashian Photo: Devan Pratt/ MTV News Kim Kardashian is pretty clear about her music career: It’s a one-song deal. Even so, the project is already high-profile, with everyone from Kanye West to The-Dream to music-video maven Hype Williams playing some role in the creation of Kim Kardashian, pop star. And with the song, “Turn It Up,” gaining lots of buzz, fans of the reality starlet are eager to hear the full single and see how the video turns out. From the looks of things, her “one song” idea could wind up being bigger than she envisioned. MTV News caught up with Kim on Wednesday and she revealed some details about the upcoming video. “Hype Williams directed the video. It is so crazy,” she teased. “I mean his looks that he put me in [are crazy]. He really had say in what he wanted, I guess, [for what] Kim ‘the artist’ that I was playing in this role would look like, as opposed to the everyday glam Kim that you’re used to seeing. So, it was really fun to play dress up and have all these other looks that I never really tried before.” Big sis Kourtney was at Kim’s side during the shoot, giving props to her “Kourtney & Kim Take New York” co-star. “Love it! And I was there with her throughout the whole process, which was fun,” Kourtney told us. “Going to the studio and, you know, just everything we did. It was a really fun process.” Kim has been reluctant to give up info about the song, but a source recently told MTV News that the song is a club joint. It’s like “back-in-the-day Jennifer Lopez … a little bit of a Jennifer Lopez feel. It’s totally a dance song,” the source explained. “It’s good and it definitely sounds like [Kim] in my mind. You know it’s her voice. She definitely can sing.” Are you looking forward to Kim’s first official music video release? Tell us in the comments!

Lady Gaga Born This Way Director Talks About Short Film

Mariano Vivanco says, ‘It’s one of my favorite films I’ve done.’ By Jocelyn Vena Lady Gaga Photo: Frederick M. Brown/ Getty Images Mere hours after completing the edit for the Lady Gaga/Mugler Born This Way collaboration that debuted in full Thursday (January 20), the short film’s director, fashion photographer Mariano Vivanco, spoke to MTV News about the film, which not only debuts Nicola Formichetti as the line’s creative director, but also gives fans a taste of a fresh Gaga song , remixed especially for Mugler. The finished version of the track will appear on Gaga’s album, to be released in May. Vivanco explained that what was supposed to be a small-scale Formichetti/Vivanco fashion video to display Mugler’s new looks became a full-scale music video-like shoot once they knew Gaga would be involved — even if they didn’t have the actual song until after they did most of the work. “OK, I’ll be 100 percent honest with you: We didn’t get the music until after the video,” Vivanco revealed. “Nicola hummed it to me and tried singing it to me. It was hilarious. And described it to me in a really articulate way. He said, ‘It’s techno meets Whitney Houston, in a really good way.’ “When he described that to me, I thought the best treatment to that would be to film it in slow motion ’cause I think house music with slow-moving images works,” he continued. “I filmed a lot of scenes that were in my heart and in my mind.” It’s hard to believe that Vivanco hadn’t heard the song when he shot the eerie, moody scenes. But, he notes that a lot of the work to mesh the video and audio came in post-production. After having a few hours to digest the dark, black-and-white art-house music video, Vivanco admitted that he loves the clip and said it was made only more special with the addition of the Gaga track. “A short film for me is like a relationship: You have to love all the imperfections. Hell, I love the film. I think it’s one of my favorite films I’ve done,” he said. “Of course, words can’t express the honor that [Gaga] would give us something so nice to work with. When I hear that song, and you hear it live like we did at the show, I’m like, ‘She’s done it again.’ ” So, how does Gaga feel about it? “She called Nicola, and she said she loved the video,” Vivanco said. “She’s the queen of our times.” Have you seen the Born This Way short film? UFC President Dana White Says Women Will “Never” Fight In His Octogon

Sounds like the UFC isn’t trying to let the ladies catch fade, but we can’t figure out why. Everybody likes to watch a cat fight. White briefly confirmed that heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez is doing well in his recovery from surgery, then was asked, “When are we going to see women in the UFC?” White replied, “never.” Fortunately for those of us who want to see women in the Octagon, White has shown in the past that “never” does not mean what he thinks it means. White himself has acknowledged that his “nevers” often don’t last. Before James Toney stepped into the Octagon, White said, “I said I would never put on a freak show. I’m putting on a freak show.” Other examples of White going back on his “never in the UFC” words: When Karo Parisyan pulled out of his UFC 106 fight, White declared he would never fight in the UFC again. When B.J. Penn spurned the UFC to go fight in Japan in 2004, White told him he’d never fight in the UFC again. When Chuck Liddell was knocked out by Shogun Rua, White said Liddell would never fight in the UFC again. So what makes me think women in the UFC will some day be added to the list of Dana White “nevers” that weren’t really nevers? The primary reason is financial. Right now, there’s not a female actively fighting who could make a big enough difference to the UFC’s bottom line for the UFC to sign her. But there was a time, just a couple of years ago, when Gina Carano was becoming popular enough that White and Lorenzo Fertitta contacted her about possibly entering the Octagon. That didn’t work out, and right now there’s no female draw comparable to Carano in 2009, but there’s no reason another female fighter couldn’t gain enough popularity outside the UFC to make White want to see her in the UFC. But there’s another reason I think White will change his mind: Giving women a shot in the UFC is simply the right thing to do. C’mon Dana, don’t be an idiot, “never” never means “never” it just means “until the money gets right”. In the illustrious words of one Mr. Christopher Bridges aka Ludacris “Let them hoes FIGHT, and pull they weave out!” Source
