30 Seconds To Mars Say ‘Hurricane’ Video Will Be ‘Sexual’

Band will release clip after live film ‘This Is War’ is completed. By James Montgomery 30 Seconds to Mars at the 2010 VMAs Photo: Frederick M. Brown/ Getty Images Roughly an hour before 30 Seconds To Mars strode onto the VMA stage to humbly accept their award for Best Rock Video , they walked the white carpet outside the Nokia Theater, where they were just as humble, if not slightly agog by everything happening around them. “We’re feeling good, kind of amazed,” 30STM frontman Jared Leto told MTV News. “Really, this is all a surprise to us. We’re just happy that people are responding to the work; this whole thing has been fun and crazy and chaotic.” While they were wide-eyed by all the VMA action — and an ill-advised “glitter bomb” that took place at the top of the carpet — they were ready to discuss business … namely, how they would follow the VMA-winning video for “Kings And Queens” and the jaw-dropping live clip for “Closer To The Edge.” From the sound of things, they’ve got a pretty good plan. “The next thing you will see is the completion of [the live film] ‘This Is War’ finally,” Leto said. “And a new video for a song — this is a scoop — for a song called ‘Hurricane.’ [The video] is very, very, very, very sexual.” We imagine members of 30STM’s Echelon will be very excited to see both of those things, and we suspect fans of Leto will get behind anything involving him and the word “sexual.” There’s no word on just when the band plans on filming the video for “Hurricane,” which at one point featured a cameo by Kanye West , but we’ll definitely keep you posted. Kanye West Earns Fans’ ‘Respect’ With ‘Runaway’

‘The song and performance were refreshing and real,’ one reader writes about ‘Ye’s VMA set. By James Dinh Kanye West performs at the 2010 VMAs Photo: Kevin Mazur/ WireImage Kanye West took an uncharacteristically modest stance at the 2010 Video Music Awards when he debuted his new track “Runaway.” His “toast to the douche bags” around the world garnered mixed reviews from MTV News readers but seemed to earn a lot of fans’ respect. Slimbodygal couldn’t help but give props to Yeezy for his seemingly self-deprecating lyrics : “Love this song!!! I have to give credit and have respect for anyone who recognizes when they are all those things he said in the song. At least he is not in denial like most people that are. I have to admit I can be an A hole at times, toasting myself!!!!” Musictomyears felt the VMA performance was a good first step back into America’s hearts: “It was the night’s only standing ovation. Strategically, if this doesn’t work, I don’t know what will. But based on the crowd’s reaction, it appears to have done the trick. It was a Kanye lovefest.” Even those who weren’t necessarily a fan of “Runaway” said Kanye did a great job of conveying the song’s message. “Lyrics were pretty clear to me, sounds like he’s calling himself out, saying he screws up like most of us do,” MTV News reader Travis wrote. “I would not necessarily call myself a fan but I respect his talent. With the media trying to pit him and Swift against each other , he showed a little refinement. The song and performance were refreshing and real. Maybe even redemption to some.” MTV News reader Angelica had a change of heart about the MC: “This song showed me that he hasn’t forgotten who he is and that he doesn’t sit on a high horse as we all thought he did. … Much respect.” But when it came to down West’s performance, Flip10 couldn’t help compare the rapper’s performance with Taylor Swift’s performance of “Innocent.” Admitting his appreciation for both acts’ honesty, he wrote: “Kanye tried too hard. I’m not gonna lie, I can’t stand Taylor Swift, but every word to her song was the truth. She speaks her mind, and so does Kanye. I respect that. We need more people like that. I hate the ‘cookie cutter’ singers.” Fkiawu wasn’t satisfied with ‘Ye’s song: “I’m sorry but this song was just awful! Why the hell would I or anyone else want to make a toast to douche bags, scumbags and a–holes?! If that’s the case, we might as well replace President Obama with The Situation. It’s just a very stupid idea.” A big-time Yeezy fan was offended that others weren’t able to comprehend the song’s subject matter, writing, “He has issues and everyone knows that but anyone who possesses a little common sense would see both him and Taylor’s performances were in reference to what happened,” Makesha wrote. “Did you all listen to what Taylor was saying in her song?? If she could forgive him who are any of you to say anything!” Do you think “Runaway” conveyed the proper message to fans? Sound off below! Taylor Swift’s New Song Lyrics: What Do You Think?

Pop/country superstar debuts yet-untitled song at the VMAs. By James Dinh Taylor Swift performs at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards Photo: Kevin Mazur/WireImage Taylor Swift debuted a new song at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday (September 12), and we want to know what you think of the yet-untitled track’s personal lyrics. The song is said to be from Taylor’s upcoming Speak Now album and will seemingly be titled “Innocent” or “Still an Innocent.” Below are the lyrics as far as we could gather. If you know the missing words, help us out. And share your thoughts in the comments! I guess you really did it this time Left yourself in your war path Lost your balance on a tightrope Lost your mind trying to get it back Wasn’t it easier in your lunch box days? Always a bigger bed to crawl into Wasn’t it beautiful when you believed in everything And everybody believed in you? It’s all right, just wait and see You’re streaming lights are still bright to me oh Who you are is not what you’ve been You’re still an innocent You’re still an innocent There’s some things you can’t speak of But tonight you’ll leave it all again You wouldn’t be shattered on the floor now If only you would sing only what you know … Wasn’t it easy you’re in your … catching days? And everything out of reach … brought down to you? Wasn’t it beautiful running wild till you fell asleep Before the monsters caught up to you? It’s all right, just wait and see Your streaming lights are still bright to me oh Who you are you are is not who you’ve been You’re still an innocent It’s OK, life is a tough crowd 32 and still growing up now Who you are is not what you did You’re still an innocent Time turns flames to ambers You’ll have new Septembers Everyone of us has messed up too Mind change like the weather I hope you remember today is never too late To be brave (ohh) It’s all right, just wait and see Your streaming lights are bright to me oh Who you are is not where you’ve been You’re still an innocent It’s OK, life is a tough crowd 32 and still growing up now Who you are is not what you did You’re still an innocent Lost your balance on a tight rope It’s never too late to get it back What did you think of Taylor’s new song? Pot Trading Cards Celebrate High Achievements

Barry Bonds and A-Rod aren't the only heavy hitters who've got a trading card following. A Berkeley medical pot dispensary has released an attractive set of cards that allows stoners to compare high-scoring ganja varietals such as Afghani Goo and Grand Daddy Purple. “It was really just like an evolution of the labeling system,” says David Bowers, a manager at the Patient's Care Collective, a 10-year-old pot store on Telegraph Avenue. Introduced in March, the cards feature glossy photos of killer buds along with details about their defining traits and medical uses. A 10-pack sells for $7. Of course, unlike standard medical marijuana cards, the trading-card versions don't give their holders the legal right to purchase pot. But anyone in the market for a nickel bag of funk might consult them to learn about the increasingly sophisticated effects and flavors of California's designer weed. Grand Daddy Purple has a “rich fruity and sweet scent like grape pixie sticks” and is “very relaxing and good for sleeping.” While the laid-back crowd might best avoid OG Kush, an “extremely pungent and skunky” plant that has psychoactive effects that “can be almost too strong for some patients.” Many of the cards read like a cross between a wine label and a bottle of Asprin, reflecting marijuana's double-edged allure as a medicine and agent of hedonism. (California voters will get a chance to legalize recreational marijuana in November). The Jack Herer variety, named after a leading pot activist, is “peppery and spicy, with a tough of tropical fruit.” It's also “clear, focused, energetic and motivating . . . A good strain for when you have to medicate during the work day.” Critics consider marijuana cards to be the reefer version of tobacco company R.J. Reynold's Joe Camel. “Using slick, full-color cards to glamorize marijuana is an overtly cynical attempt to promote marijuana use to children while turning a profit for yourself,” former California Attorney General Dan Lungren wrote along with 21 other state AGs in a 1998 letter to the now-defunct, San Francisco-based In-Line Trading Cards and Magazines, which had produced a set of “Hemp Cards” that were sold in retail stores. Bowers says that the Patient Care Collective only sells its cards at the dispensary and marijuana trade shows. http://motherjones.com/riff/2010/09/trading-cards-celebrate-pots-highest-rankers added by: pjacobs51

Rich Cronin’s Former LFO Bandmates Continue Their Music Careers

Brad Fischetti and Devin Lima have both stayed in the business since band split up in 2002. By Gil Kaufman LFO Photo: Arista After his band’s spotlight faded, LFO singer Rich Cronin, who passed away Wednesday , spent his time writing songs for other singers and appearing on VH1’s 2007 reality show “Mission: Man Band,” in which he tried to revive his career alongside some other boy band veterans. But what became of Cronin’s fellow Lyte Funky Ones? A day after Cronin died at the age of 35, former LFO member Brad Fischetti spoke to spoke to Entertainment Weekly . “He was one of the funniest people on the planet,” said Fischetti, who was hoping to mount a tour with Cronin and third member Devin Lima later this year as a follow-up to a successful set of reunion shows in 2009. “Nobody could tell a story like Rich. He used to say, ‘Never let a few facts get in the way of a good story.’ ” Fischetti recalled the day in 2005 when he found out Cronin had leukemia, and how the “Summer Girls” singer/songwriter thought he’d never be able to perform again. “None of us thought we’d ever be on the stage again as LFO,” said Fischetti. “He fought hard, man. He beat leukemia twice. And beat a stroke. He was a fighter.” Fischetti has kept a low profile since LFO split up in 2002, preferring to remain behind the scenes and nurture new talent through his label 111 Records . He did record a solo album, Sari , in 2007; at the time he described its sound as a mix of Coldplay, David Bowie, Pink Floyd and Radiohead. 111 has released albums by former LFO bassist Dan Walters, Kiernan McMullan, the Spill Canvas, Canon, Inkwell, the Windupdeads and Rookie of the Year. Fischetti said the reunion tour last summer reminded him of the special bond the trio had during their late-’90s peak. Cronin was weakened by chemotherapy, a stem-cell transplant and a stroke that left him with such severe leg pain that Fischetti and Lima had to help the singer get dressed before shows and carry him on stage. But the tour was still a highlight. “He was so happy,” Fischetti said. “We really became soul mates. Devin and I both realized how much we loved him, despite the differences we had in the past. In New York City at the Highline Ballroom, he thanked the crowd at the end of the show. I’ll always have that voice in my mind, because it was such a sincere thank you. Really, that’s the memory that’s sticking out in my brain.” Lima released his first solo track in 2006, a cover of the Sly & the Family Stone song “If You Want Me To Stay” for the tribute album Different Strokes by Different Folks . Though it caused some head-scratching at the time, it led to him performing in a tribute to Stone on the 2006 Grammy Awards alongside Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith, Maroon 5, Joss Stone, John Legend and will.i.am. Lima released Mozart Popart , his first album with his band Cadbury Diesel, in 2008. The disc helped push Lima past the bubblegum tunes of his past, thanks to the rock and roll feel of songs like “Hangin’ With You” and the soulful R&B tune “Me Veda.” Fischetti and Lima are currently collaborating on a new hip-hop project called The Xiles . They released a Christmas EP last year and revealed in December that they’d already begun recording their debut album, American Genie: Volume 1 . Related Artists LFO (Lyte Funky Ones)

Rachel Bilson Because She’s Too Cute

I thought that I would finish off the day with some nice shots of cutie Rachel Bilson walking the streets in a sweet white dress because she’s almost perfect in my mind. I was kinda hoping that with all the strange weather we’ve been having this summer Mother Nature might kick up some wind or cover her in rain so that at least we’d get some action shots, but I guess she’s in California and everyday is perfect there. Stupid California.

Ashley Greene Gets Wet With Miley Cyrus

I don’t know exactly what’s going on in these pictures, but it involves one of my new favorite hotties Ashley Greene so I don’t really care. Besides, take a hottie like Ashley, put her in the rain and throw in some jailbait like Miley Cyrus and you’ve got my attention. I can’t be certain, but it looks like they’re about to kiss, alright so they’re probably not, but a guy can dream. No big deal, in my mind they’ve kissed many many times.
