‘Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter’ Cast Share Slo-Mo Acting Tips

‘Be willing to look stupid,’ Anthony Mackie, who plays Lincoln’s best friend in the film, warns. By Kevin P. Sullivan Benjamin Walker in “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter” Photo: Working with a director like Timur Bekmambetov guarantees a few things. You’ll probably take part in some insane action sequences. And there will definitely be slow-motion. When MTV News sat down with Benjamin Walker and Anthony Mackie , from Bekmambetov’s latest film, ” Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter ,” they shared some helpful hints about how to properly act in super-slo-mo. “Don’t think about it,” Walker said right off the bat. He probably had the most to do at the slow speed as our 16th president and first commander in vampire slaying, Abraham Lincoln. But it’s never that simple, as Mackie was able to attest. “Be willing to look stupid,” he warned. The final sequence of the film finds Abe and his best friend, Will Johnson (Mackie), atop a locomotive, riding along a burning bridge. It required a lot of slow-motion running and jumping. Mackie couldn’t help but exaggerate his movement as he leapt from car to car. “There’s that whole sequence where we’re jumping from one car to the other when the bridge is burning up, and I literally couldn’t stop doing the ‘swim’ move when I was jumping. So Timur was like, ‘Don’t do the swim move,’ and I was like, ‘Sh–,’ ” he said. “So we’re on the train, and he’s like, ‘Don’t think about it,’ and I’m like, ‘All right, all right, all right.’ Action, jump, swim. In order not to do the swim move, I do a shot-put move. Needless to say, I’m glad it looked all right in the movie, because I thought I was going to look like an idiot.” Similarly, during something as simple as a ballroom-dancing scene, Walker couldn’t help act out the slo-mo. “When we were shooting the ballroom scene, it was in slow motion,” he said. “I knew it in my mind, so I start kind of slowing down. He goes, ‘No, stop. We’ll slow it down later.’ ” But if it came down to it, Mackie had one big piece of advice. “It’s all about your face,” he said. “They always say, ‘Be careful about your face.’ ” Check out everything we’ve got on ” Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter .” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com . Jesus, Take the Wheel (Justin Bieber Video) with lyrics

A video I made for Justin Bieber using the song “Jesus, Take the Wheel” by Carrie Underwood. Lyrics: She was driving last Friday on her way to Cincinnati On a snow white Christmas Eve Going home to see her Mama and her Daddy with the baby in the backseat Fifty miles to go and she was running low on faith and gasoline It’d been a long hard year She had a lot on her mind and she didn’t pay attention she was going way too fast Before she knew it she was spinning on a thin black sheet of glass She saw both their lives flash before her eyes She didn’t even have time to cry She was so scared She threw her hands up in the air Jesus take the wheel Take it from my hands Cause I can’t do this on my own I’m letting go So give me one more chance To save me from this road I’m on Jesus take the wheel It was still getting colder when she made it to the shoulder And the car came to a stop She cried when she saw that baby in the backseat sleeping like a rock And for the first time in a long time She bowed her head to pray She said I’m sorry for the way I’ve been living my life I know I’ve got to change So from now on tonight Jesus take the wheel Take it from my hands Cause I can’t do this on my own I’m letting go So give me one more chance To save me from this road I’m on Jesus take the wheel Oh I’m letting go So give me one more chance Save me from this road I’m on From this road I’m on Jesus take the wheel Oh take it take it from me Oh http://www.youtube.com/v/nSwM8TXGYlU?version=3&f=videos&app=youtube_gdata See original here: Jesus, Take the Wheel (Justin Bieber Video) with lyrics

Breaking Dawn First Images: Bella and Edward Welcome Renesmee, Lautner Insists Imprinting Not Creepy

Oh hey, remember Twilight ? That book that was a movie that spawned a gazillion-dollar franchise before The Hunger Games and Fifty Shades of Grey made you momentarily forget about sparkly vampires? Well, it’s back, and the latest EW cover serves to remind us all that Breaking Dawn – Part 2 — the franchise ender, due in November — is just on the horizon. Forthwith, your first look at Vampire Bella, Daddy Edward, and, uh, Uncle Jacob with Breaking Dawn ‘s preternaturally mature baby Renesmee. EW teases their June 22 issue with family portraits of Bella ( Kristen Stewart ), Edward ( Robert Pattinson ), Jacob ( Taylor Lautner ), and little Renesmee, a new character introduced in Breaking Dawn – Part 2 . Per Stephenie Meyer’s final Twilight novel, Renesmee is the half-human, half-vampire baby whose birth pretty much kills Bella at the end of Breaking Dawn – Part 1 , necessitating Bella’s transformation into a vampire and kicking off the final chapter of zany events in the series. Among the stranger details of Breaking Dawn – Part 2 : Renesmee is a hybrid creature baby who grows at an accelerated rate, hence why she looks more like Siri Cruise than a normal infant. (Forget Twilight – let’s get to the untold story of Matt Leblanc, amirite?) Eleven-year-old newcomer Mackenzie Foy nabbed the role of Renesmee, and from the looks of EW’s preview she gets considerable face time with not only her vampire parents (and Jacob — more on that in a bit) but with the various assembled international vampires that gather to rally around the Cullen clan as the evil Volturi vamps head to America to wipe them out. EW’s Twilight issue hits stands June 15, along with new images from the film. Take a look at the Cullen brood… And the various global vampire clans that gather in Breaking Dawn – Part 2 : Of course, Dakota Fanning returns with the Volturi… …and Vampire Bella is strong enough to arm-wrestle Emmett… …but let’s talk about Jacob and Renesmee and the love that dare not speak its name: Imprinting. Scans of the EW cover story have already leaked, revealing bits of the cast and director interviews discussing the set, casting Foy (“Even our hands look similar,” marvels Stewart), etc. But let’s jump right over to the elephant in the room, shall we? Lautner addresses his Breaking Dawn challenge — making Jacob “imprint” on his soulmate, baby Renesmee, without making it feel, you know, creepy (via Nessie-Mackenzie.com ): …talking to Stephenie Meyer and diving back into the book got him more comfortable with the notion of being in love with a child. “Everyone likes to tease me about it,” he says. “Everyone thinks it’s so funny, and I laugh along with them, but it’s important for me to keep in my mind that it’s as simple as a lifelong bond. It’s not nearly as creepy as everybody likes to joke.” That “everybody” includes Pattinson, needless to say. “Oh, I can’t wait till he has to do live TV,” Pattinson says of Lautner with a gleeful cackle. “Did you ask him if his taste in women has changed? The first scene I saw them together, I literally could not stop laughing. I wouldn’t have been able to do it.” Well, good luck to Lautner. I don’t care if Stewart had to wear uncomfortable contact lenses, he’s officially got the hardest job of anyone on Twilight . Look for more in EW’s June 22 issue. [ EW ]

‘Prometheus’: Could There Be A Sequel?

Co-writer Damon Lindelof tells MTV News if there were a follow-up, ‘it wouldn’t be ‘Alien.’ ‘ By Kevin P. Sullivan Charlize Theron and Idris Elba in “Prometheus” Photo: 20th Century Fox In the wake of the mind explosion that was Ridley Scott’s ” Prometheus ,” both fans and haters have been curiously posturing about what it could all mean and whether a sequel is likely or even possible. Though after a solid opening weekend, the fate of a “Prometheus” sequel may now lie in the hands of a Fox executive instead of the creative talent, we spoke with co-writer Damon Lindelof about whether the events and ideas in “Prometheus” leave an opening for a follow-up. Spoilers ahead. Much of the philosophy in “Prometheus” revolves around the unsatisfying nature of ultimate answers, and the film purposely avoids resolving some of the story’s lingering questions. So could a sequel exist without contradicting the ideas of the original? Lindelof told us that “Prometheus” was always intended to be a stand-alone film, but there is the possibility for more story. “The conversations that we had about the story of ‘Prometheus’ and how it would end were always predicated on the idea that there would not be a sequel, that a sequel was not a foregone conclusion, and that the movie itself had to have a feeling of being complete,” Lindelof said. “That being said, we also wanted the audience to feel that, like, if there were a sequel to ‘Prometheus,’ it wouldn’t be ‘Alien.’ ” That idea of a separate narrative arc from “Alien” led to the loose end of Shaw flying off to find the Engineers, so that if a sequel were to happen, it would take the audience to unfamiliar territory. “Something needed to happened at the end of this movie that clearly steered and announced that the direction of the trajectory of this story moving forward was not going to head toward LV-426 and a crashed, derelict ship with a Space Jockey with an exploded chest surrounded by eggs, that Shaw and David were headed in a different direction that was probably not going to result in that,” Lindelof said. “Those two things were sort of simultaneous to each other, so you’re both saying, ‘We want this movie to stand on its own, but we also acknowledge that it needs to end in a way that is very clear that if the story were to progress (if there were a sequel) ‘ We tried to thread the needle between the two ideas.” If the concept of no sequel to “Prometheus” upsets you because of the remaining mysteries, Lindelof suggests you look toward Scott for your answers, because he has them. “Then, of course, for all this talk of unanswered questions or the characters theorizing but not really getting their theories proved or, more importantly, for getting their makers to answer for the condition of the movie, Ridley and I and Jon [Spaihts] all discussed what we felt those answers were and came to agreement on them, so despite whatever slings and arrows come our way, this is not a case of, ‘Well, we didn’t know, so we didn’t bother trying,'” Lindelof said. “We definitely knew, and Ridley decided that the more interesting movie was one where we didn’t explicitly spell that stuff out.” So because Scott designed the movie to be the way that it is, those questions should drive you want more, just like Shaw at the end of the film, but Lindelof promised that the answers you might be searching for could be hidden inside “Prometheus.” “I really believe — and this is not shamed hucksterism — that upon multiple viewings of the movie or just entering into conversation with people who have seen it, there are a lot more answers there than people think there are and room for theories, but the movie needed to end in a way that is Shaw still searching,” he said. “She is not satisfied with the answers that she got. I think that’s very indicative, hopefully, if Shaw is supposed to be the audience proxy, they’re supposed to be feeling the same way that she is at the end of the movie.” For all the “Lost” fans out there, this might all sound like a familiar song and dance, especially coming from Lindelof, and the writer knew he was in for that comparison when he took on Scott’s orders. “To be completely candid, I knew that I’d eat some s— for that for the rest of my career, if there is no sequel to ‘Prometheus,’ but did it anyway, and had Ridley asked me to do it the other way, I would have done that too,” Lindelof said. “This movie is about realizing his vision. He’s only directed three science-fiction films, and now ‘Prometheus’ is one of them, and if he told me to jump off a bridge, I would.” Check out everything we’ve got on “Prometheus.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com . The Bachelorette Recap: Goin’ West Virginia Hood Rat Backwoods on His Ass!

Emily Maynard showed us a new side of herself on The Bachelorette tonight . We honestly didn’t know the girl had that scrappy street fighter in her, but we dig it. Unfortunately for one guy, this earned him a profane tongue-lashing and a ticket out the door. Fortunately for us, that douchebag will no longer take up screen time. Who was the recipient of Emily’s blowup, and what’d he do to provoke her? Who else got the boot at the end of the night after the fireworks ended? Follow this link for a rundown of The Bachelorette spoilers we know so far, including the (alleged) final three. Then read on for THG’s official +/- recap! Ricki and Emily in matching peacoats? Cutest thing ever. Plus 20 . Chris Harrison’s purple scarf? LOLZ not so much. Wow. Minus 11 . Sean Lowe gets the one-on-one date, and he’ll obviously knock it out of the park, ’cause that’s what guys like Sean Lowe do. At everything. Plus only 10 because he’s almost too perfect for words and shows up normal guys. Meanwhile, Alejandro is still on the show. Who knew! Plus 4 . Sean and Emily do their best impression of the Duke and Duchess. Will Emily soon be sporting her best Kate Middleton baby bump ? Probably … since that “bump” is like 97 percent not real. Minus 9 for THG confusing all of you. Kalon says every day is a “group date” with Emily and Ricki. Ohhh, good one man! What a douche. Just pack your bags now. Minus 15 . Sean sounds like a preacher in the park … saintly, even. Plus 8 . Emily and Sean’s date at the Tower of London? Quite romantic. Plus 6 . The whole “love takes no prisoners” card? Quite cheesy. Minus 6 . He should be thankful she didn’t go Fifty Shades of Grey on him down there in the dungeon. We know she wants more kids like whoa. Plus 2 . Emily’s raspy voice is kinda sexy … even if it’s just because she’s sick or lost her voice. Feel better, Em … but wow. Holy hotness. Plus 8 . Speaking of hotness, how about Sean’s charm, kindness and genuine humility? Is any girl watching this not swooning right now? Plus 12 . “The last thing I wanted to do this week is act.” – Doug. Really man? That was the last thing that entered your mind this week? Minus 3 . “Shakespeare is HUGE in Mississippi. That’s pretty much all we do is sit around and read his plays.” – Travis. Joke? Not a joke? Plus 5 . “I have limited understanding of what is going on in my scene.” – A surprisingly nervous, visibly uncomfortable Arie Luyendyk, Jr. Plus 15 . We can’t decide if Ryan’s overconfidence is hilarious or infuriating. Wash . Of all the guys, Arie and Doug are exceptionally good sports. Plus 15 . Arie: “Ryan is cracking me up, because he’s so excited he finally gets to kiss Emily. I’m like, ‘dude, it’s a play. You’re not actually kissing her.'” Plus 5 . “If Shakespeare were alive and saw Ryan, he would say ‘thouest suck.'” Plus 10 . Emily drinking beer with the guys? Plus 10 . Do the producers feed Ryan these lines? And/or tell him to talk in the Disco Stu-esque voice? He’s creepily hysterical. Plus 3 . Kalon actually refers to Ricki as “baggage.” Uhh, Minus 100 for saying that in the first place, and for the weaksauce excuse/retraction. Doug rolls up his sleeves like he’s going to throw down. Plus 12 . Props for Doug telling her. Given the nature of what was said, and the fact that it involved Ricki … it was warranted. Plus 28 . Emily: “I wanna go West Virginia, hood rat, backwoods on his ass.” Plus 150 . And she backs up the talk! Plus 50 for cutting him off and telling him to “get the f*%k out” and not even hearing his half-assed excuses. Why even go on the show if you know Emily’s the star? Why say those things to the other guys? Bottom line … loser got what he deserved. She doesn’t feel the guys had her back? Doug told her! And Emily DESTROYED Kalon by herself! We feel for her, but still, what do you want? Minus 9 . After waiting five weeks for a one-on-one date, Jef with one F is totally getting c*ck-blocked by Jeanne the British etiquette expert. Minus 20 . Plus 25 for them ditching out and going to a local pub. Emily lost her mojo over the whole Kalon thing. Jef might take things slowly but he’s saying all the right things, and Plus 40 for that. Dance parties all night with Ricki?? WePlus 9. With that kiss, Jef vaults into top-tier status with Sean and Arie. Plus 30 . Can anyone else compete with those three? Will be tough. Ryan? Maybe, but we just don’t see it. Minus 5 . Emily is getting the butterflies with Sean, but not in her stomach … they’re in her HEART!! OMG, so mind-numbingly cheesy. But cute. Plus 2 . Arie: “I think I may be going home tonight.” Really Arie? Ryan, Alejandro, “Wolf” and the Egg Dude are still on the show! Minus 7 . Saying goodbye tonight: Kalon (kicked the f*%k out) Alejandro (did not get rose) Still alive: Sean and Jef (earlier), Doug, Ryan, Chris, John “Wolf”, Travis, Arie. EPISODE TOTAL: +304. SEASON TOTAL: -1.
