Miranda Lambert SLAMS Chris Brown in Concert

Miranda Lambert was an outspoken critic of last Sunday’s Chris Brown Grammy lovefest , ripping CBS and the music extravaganza for Brown’s prominent role. She’s still not over it, calling out the R&B star in concert this week. Country star Lambert wondered aloud on Twitter why the convicted felon was featured on not one but two performances during the Grammy Awards. “Chris Brown twice? I don’t get it. He beat on a girl,” Miranda tweeted, adding “He needs to listen to Gunpowder and lead and be put back in his place.” “Gunpowder and Lead” is her song about a woman preparing to kill her abusive husband. She performed it in concert Thursday – with a message for Brown. Before singing, Lambert pulled a poster out of the audience reading “Take Notes Chris Brown.” “Get a good picture now, put it on Twitter,” she said. “I’ve been in a world of hurt with Chris Brown fans … but see, I have to speak my mind because where I come from beating up on a woman is never okay.” As she sang, Lambert added “So that’s why my daddy taught me early on in life how to use a shotgun.” The Amherst, Mass., crowd went wild: Miranda Lambert Slams Chris Brown Brown has come under heavy criticism for his response to the “haters” as much as for the infamous 2009 incident in what has become a never-ending story. Should people just get over it and move on? Or is Miranda right in standing up against abusive men, and the Grammys? Choose a side in this feud:

Race Matters: Interracial Marriage Is At An All Time High In US…Blacks Are Substantially More Likely To Marry Whites

Interracial marriages in the U.S. have climbed to 4.8 million — a record 1 in 12 — as a steady flow of new Asian and Hispanic immigrants expands the pool of prospective spouses. Blacks are now substantially more likely than before to marry whites. A Pew Research Center study, released Thursday, details a diversifying America where interracial unions and the mixed-race children they produce are challenging typical notions of race. “The rise in interracial marriage indicates that race relations have improved over the past quarter century,” said Daniel Lichter, a sociology professor at Cornell University. “Mixed-race children have blurred America’s color line. They often interact with others on either side of the racial divide and frequently serve as brokers between friends and family members of different racial backgrounds,” he said. “But America still has a long way to go.” The figures come from previous censuses as well as the 2008-2010 American Community Survey, which surveys 3 million households annually. The figures for “white” refer to those whites who are not of Hispanic ethnicity. For purposes of defining interracial marriages, Hispanic is counted as a race by many in the demographic field. The study finds that 8.4 percent of all current U.S. marriages are interracial, up from 3.2 percent in 1980. While Hispanics and Asians remained the most likely, as in previous decades, to marry someone of a different race, the biggest jump in share since 2008 occurred among blacks, who historically have been the most segregated. States in the West where Asian and Hispanic immigrants are more numerous, including Hawaii, Nevada, New Mexico and California, were among the most likely to have couples who “marry out” — more than 1 in 5. The West was followed by the South, Northeast and Midwest. By state, mostly white Vermont had the lowest rate of intermarriage, at 4 percent. In all, more than 15 percent of new marriages in 2010 were interracial. The numbers also coincide with Pew survey data showing greater public acceptance of mixed marriage, coming nearly half a century after the Supreme Court in 1967 barred race-based restrictions on marriage. (In 2000, Alabama became the last state to lift its unenforceable ban on interracial marriages.) About 83 percent of Americans say it is “all right for blacks and whites to date each other,” up from 48 percent in 1987. As a whole, about 63 percent of those surveyed say it “would be fine” if a family member were to marry outside their own race. Discuss… Source Photo: WENN More On Bossip! Clive Davis Mourns Whitney Houston at Pre-Grammy Awards Party

Clive Davis discovered Whitney Houston at a NYC nightclub when the singer was 20 years old. It was therefore eerie and appropriate that the artist passed away, possibly from an overdose on prescription drugs , just a few hours prior to the music producer’s annual pre-Grammy Awards party at the Beverly Hills Hilton Hotel. The somber event did proceed as scheduled – with attendees including Britney Spears, Miranda Lambert, Brandy, Tom Hanks, P Diddy, Kim Kardashian and Mary J. Blige – and Davis opened the shindig with remarks abut Houston. “So, by now sadly, we have all learned of the unspeakably tragic news of our beloved Whitney’s passing. I don’t have to mask my emotions. Not in front of this room full of so many dear friends,” Davis said. “I do have a very heavy heart and I am personally devastated by the loss of someone who has meant so much to me for so many years. Whitney was so full of life. “She was so looking forward to tonight… She loved music and she loved this night that celebrates music.” A moment of silence followed, with Diana Krall, Tony Bennett and Alicia Keys later performing. On tonight’s Grammys telecast, meanwhile, Jennifer Hudson will perform a tribute to Whitney.

Kelly Clarkson’s National Anthem Kicks Off Super Bowl

‘Star Spangled Banner’ was preceded by Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton performing ‘America the Beautiful.’ By James Dinh Kelly Clarkson performs at Super Bowl 46 Photo: Ezra Shaw/ Getty Images Kelly Clarkson rose to fame singing on national television, so it’s no surprise that the original “American Idol” champ soared high with her rendition of the national anthem at Super Bowl XLVI on Sunday night (February 5). Wearing a sleek black dress, Miss Independent stood confidently on a small blue-and-white stage at the showdown between the New England Patriots and New York Giants at the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. As Clarkson belted out “The Star Spangled Banner” alongside a full marching band and a crowd of children, cameras panned to several members of the teams as they looked toward the sky. Proving herself as a true big-voiced diva, the singer hit all the right notes, adding in some signature riffing at the end of the song. Even though her performance went smooth, KC admitted having some early jitters about singing the patriotic tune. On Friday, she took to her Who Say account to share her two cents about rehearsal time: “Just finished rehearsing the anthem in Indy … wow, I’m actually really nervous about singing at the Super Bowl ha!” she wrote. “Here’s hoping I nail it and don’t screw it up!” Clarkson’s performance was preceded by country music couple Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton, who delivered a duet of “America the Beautiful” during pre-game festivities. Kelly Clarkson To Sing National Anthem At Super Bowl

Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert scheduled to perform ‘America The Beautiful.’ By James Dinh Kelly Clarkson Photo: Ethan Miller/ Getty Images Kelly Clarkson will trail the footsteps of a string of big-voiced divas before her when she kicks off Super Bowl XLVI belting out the national anthem, according to The Associated Press. The announcement was expected to be made later this month, but a source close to the AP broke the news on Wednesday night (January 11). Country couple Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton are also set to serve as entertainment when they perform “America The Beautiful” during the pre-game rounds. And, of course, Madonna will make her much-talked-about comeback when she rocks Lucas Oil Stadium as the championship game’s halftime show performer. The pop queen, who just announced the title of her 12th studio album, M.D.N.A. , will perform her new single “Gimme all Your Luvin” in a performance that will be “imagined” by Cirque du Soleil and her longtime creative director Jamie King. Clarkson is no stranger to national TV exposure. Just this past weekend, the pop songstress wrapped up another big gig as musical guest for “Saturday Night Live.” Marking her third appearance on the iconic sketch comedy show, the singer performed her new hits “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)” and “Mr. Know It All.” MTV News caught up with the original “American Idol” champion, who gushed about the “SNL” cast. “It’s a fun environment. You don’t feel like you’re working,” she admitted. “This is like a family place. Everybody here is nice to people who aren’t famous. You know what I’m saying? They’re nice to my makeup artist, my hair guy … I hate people who are just nice to famous people. It bothers me. I want to kick ’em.” Are you excited to see Kelly perform the patriotic tune at this year’s Super Bowl? Tell us in the comments below.
