Mobb Deep Announce New Deal With Sony’s RED Distribution

‘After almost 20 years in this industry, it was inevitable for us to take matters into our own hands,’ Prodigy says in a press release. By Rob Markman Mobb Deep Photo: Robert Adam Mayer The Infamous is back in the house once again. MTV News has learned that Mobb Deep have signed their Infamous Records with RED Distribution, the independent distribution system of Sony Music. Havoc and Prodigy will drop their self-titled ninth album as well any others that they sign and any film projects they choose to take on under the new deal. “After almost 20 years in this industry, it was inevitable for us to take matters into our own hands. We feel that RED is the perfect home for our brand,” Prodigy said in a press release issued to MTV News. “We know who our fans are and what they want from Mobb Deep. We’re excited to take a new step in our career,” Havoc added. President of RED Distribution Bob Morelli offered his support of the newly inked group and label. “Mobb Deep is an iconic act, having been on the cutting edge of music and social commentary for years. We are happy and excited to distribute the next chapter in their musical career.” Read what Havoc said about Mobb Deep’s initial plans to stay independent. This isn’t the first time the group has been in the Sony fold. After releasing their debut album Juvenile Hell on 4th and B’way in 1993, M-O-B-B signed on to the Sony-affiliated Loud Records and dropped their breakout album The Infamous two years later. They remained under Sony up until the release of their 2001 album Infamy . Since then, there has been an indie deal with Land Speed (2003’s Free Agents ), a deal with Jive (2004’s Amerikaz Nightmare ) and one with 50 Cent’s G-Unit Records (2006 Blood Money ), but ever since Prodigy’s release from prison for gun possession in March, the group has been without a label. The group has managed to stay in the news this year thanks to Prodigy’s tell-all book “My Infamous Life: The Autobiography of Mobb Deep’s Prodigy.” Many rappers, including N.O.R.E. , his partner Capone and Ja Rule , took exception to P’s accounts of certain events described in the book. Though there is no release date for the Mobb Deep album. The duo is currently on the road as part of the Rock the Bells Tour alongside Lauryn Hill, Nas, Common and Erykah Badu. Lil Wayne ‘Glad’ Tha Carter IV Leaked

Billboard reports C4 on pace to sell between 850,000 and 900,000 copies after album leaks five days early. By Rob Markman, with additional reporting by Jim Cantiello Lil Wayne Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images In this digital age, album leaks are an accepted part of the music industry. So when Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter IV was illegally pushed onto the Internet five days before its official drop, the Young Money honcho wasn’t worried in the least. “We did real good this time, real good,” Wayne told MTV News correspondent Jim Cantiello after his show-closing performance at the VMAs in L.A. on Sunday. “It just means people want to hear it,” he said. “I mean, ’cause there’re people’s albums that come out that can be leaked and don’t leak, so I’m glad mines leaked.” Hear Weezy talk about having a “moment” with his show-closing VMA set! After Jay-Z and Kanye West avoided a leak with their Watch the Throne album, many wondered if Wayne could do the same. But the YMCMB camp insists they aren’t too concerned about how the leak may affect album sales. Via his Twitter account, Cash Money CEO Birdman has been promoting Weezy’s album for the past week, even going so far as to predict that C4 would sell a million copies in its first week, just like Wayne’s Tha Carter III in 2008. On Monday, he wrote , “C4.BMJR.#Dont Lie 1m. 1week They Know.” “I think we should still do well,” Mack Maine told MTV News on Sunday. “The leak shouldn’t have affected it that much. Actually, this is the first time that the albums leaked so close [to the release date]. Tha Carter III leaked two weeks before and we still did [1 million] the first week. So if history repeats itself, we shouldn’t have any problems.” On Tuesday, after a full day of sales, Billboard reported that Tha Carter IV was on pace to sell anywhere between 850,000 and 900,000 copies in its first week. Meanwhile, HITS Daily Double estimated on Friday (September 2) that Wayne could move upwards of 975,000 copies, inching him that much closer to a milli. Vienna Girardi on Nose Job, Kasey Kahl, Jake Pavelka & Bachelor Pad Drama

Vienna Girardi is in this for the money. The former winner of The Bachelor and fiancee of Jake Pavelka has ZERO qualms about admitting that her second stint on reality TV is financially motivated. “I said no at first,” she told The Huffington Post about coming on Bachelor Pad , adding that she only agreed to be on the summer show on one condition. “They told me Jake wouldn’t be,” she said. “They clued me in a few days before we started filming, but by that point I was all packed and ready to go.” Vienna need not worry about wearing a life preserver. Jake was voted off the episode before last, but not before three weeks of fireworks between himself, Vienna and her current boyfriend, Kasey Kahl. Vienna Girardi admits having Jake Pavelka around was “uncomfortable” but says she and Kasey had fun and are friends with many Bachelor Pad stars. In fact, it Erica Rose that encouraged her nose job . “It’s something I’ve wanted to do for a while,” Girardi said of her new schnozz, adding that she talked about it with Rose while filming the show. “A week later, I was in Texas” to have the job done. Girardi debuted her new nose in August, but does not think that she will be going back under the knife anytime soon. “No, I’m done,” she said. As for Girardi and Kahl, viewers still don’t know how far the power couple makes it in the game, but things are definitely moving fast for them. The couple recently moved in together , but should the day come that Kahl gets down on bended knee, don’t expect to see the moment on ABC. “I had said I didn’t want him to propose on the show,” she said when asked about a ridiculous scene showing Kahl giving her a promise ring. Vienna and Kasey get freaky on Bachelor Pad . Though we won’t see Girardi get engaged on TV for the second time, she and Kahl haven’t ruled out returning to reality TV. There’s a shocker. “We’ve talked about it,” she said regarding appearing on reality TV on a Vienna and Kasey show after Bachelor Pad . “We’re not against it.” She may have competition there. Pavelka told Ryan Seacrest he’d consider appearing on The Bachelor a second time, “but not right away.” Hey, Brad Womack just went 0-for-2. Why not Jake Pavelka? Vienna won’t be watching if so. “Absolutely not,” she said.

‘American Reunion’ First-Look Clip Hits The Net

‘American Pie’ alums pose for pictures at their high-school reunion in brand-new teaser. By Terri Schwartz Cast of “American Pie Reunion” Photo: Sam Jones / Universal Pictures The East Great Falls class of 1999 are coming back together for a good old-fashioned “American Reunion.” The first teaser for the fourth installment of the “American Pie” comedy series hit the Internet, courtesy of People.com , and the 60-second clip features a montage of pics of the main characters posing in a photo booth at their high-school reunion. “Get ready for one last slice,” the video teases in a voiceover. Starring Jason Biggs, Alyson Hannigan, Chris Klein, Mena Suvari, Thomas Ian Nicholas, Tara Reid, Seann William Scott and Eddie Kaye Thomas, the final movie in the “Pie” series follows the beloved characters as they come together for their 10-year reunion. A recently released plot synopsis teases that things aren’t so different for the old friends a decade later; Finch (Kaye Thomas), for one, is still longing for Stifler’s (Scott) mom. It turns out that the bond among the castmembers is also just as strong, even so many years after they filmed the ’99 original. People.com caught up with Scott and Biggs, and they talked about the impact “American Pie” has had on their lives. “We realized that no matter how much we may have changed individually, as a group, we will always be connected and have a special chemistry that arises immediately when we’re together,” Biggs said. According to Scott, that involves a lot of boys being boys. “In many respects, we’ve grown up a lot,” he said. “But on the other hand, we haven’t grown up at all. On set, Jason Biggs was farting up a storm, Chris Klein was belching, and Eddie Kaye Thomas and Biggs were hitting each other in [the groin].” Directed by “Harold & Kumar” helmers Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg, “American Reunion” has reunited its original cast en masse: Eugene Levy, Natasha Lyonne , Shannon Elizabeth and Jennifer Coolidge are all back. Newcomers Katrina Bowden and Chad Ochocinco also hit the reunion when the movie opens in theaters on April 6, 2012. Justin Bieber, Lil Twist Single Will Have ‘Summer’ Feel

‘It’s a Miami record,’ Young Money rapper tells MTV News at VMAs. By Rob Markman Lil Twist Photo: Michael Bezjian/ WireImage LOS ANGELES — Lil Wayne may have just dropped Tha Carter IV, but don’t expect his Young Money artists to just stand around and bask in Weezy’s multiplatinum glow. Drake’s Take Care will be the next album to drop on the label, and Tyga’s Careless World is coming soon, as well as Birdman’s Cash Money release Bigga Than Life. Dallas rapper Lil Twist is cooking up his debut too, and fans can expect a big-time collaboration. ” Don’t Get It Twisted is definitely coming before the year is over,” the 18-year-old rapper said on the 2011 VMA black carpet. “I’m getting ready to put out my next record, which features Justin [Bieber], the one that everybody’s been waitin’ on. ‘Wherever You Are’ featuring Justin Bieber coming soon.” Twist and Bieb’s friendship is no secret. Twizzy has been teasing a full collaborative mixtape between the two, but as of now, nothing has materialized. “Me and Justin, we actually met through a mutual friend, and after that, we got real cool, actually,” he told MTV News last November. “[We] started working in the studio, sending stuff through the MacBook and everything. And then he was like, ‘Yo, bro, we should do a mixtape. Let’s go.’ We just started then.” While there is no telling when the mixtape will come, Twist is confident that their single will surface shortly. “It’s gonna be great. It’s a cool summer record,” Twist told MTV News of his and Justin’s upcoming collaboration. “It’s a party song. Straight for the sun. It’s a Miami record.” In 2010, Twist dropped the album’s first single, “Little Secret,” featuring Bow Wow and came back this year with the Lil Wayne-assisted “Love Affair.” The R&B-laced song found Twist singing about being caught in the middle of a love triangle, while Wayne crudely rapped around the same subject. For his current single, “New Money,” the YMCMB young’un hooked up with R&B singer Mishon. A promotional insert included with Tha Carter IV CD has Don’t Get It Twisted slated for a November 8 release; whether that date sticks remains to be seen. I think we can expect a little bit of everything in this performance.” Backed by a full band, the Cash Money Billionaire ran through his set, which included a heavy-metal take on one of his songs. The energetic MC bounced around the stage as he worked out the particulars, perfecting his set. Snooki: The Next Kim Kardashian?

Is Jersey Shore star Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi the next Kim Kardashian? Does anyone even know what we mean by that? Probably not on both counts. We’re not suggesting that Snook is about to be smushed by Ray J on film, though that’d be a heck of a story, or that she’s in Kim’s fame league. But she’s a moneymaking fame machine in and of herself, and as far as most of humankind is concerned, for seemingly no reason. Sound familiar? Peas in a pod. A useless pod. If the pint-size Jersey Shore guidette stays on track, she may be able to do it. She revealed to E! all the things she has going on (excerpts below) … On Dancing With the Stars : They’re saying I’m holding out for money … I never got asked to even do the show, so I don’t know where that’s coming from. I’d do it, but probably not right now because I’m so busy with everything going on. On her fragrance : “I’m really excited by it. It’s called Snooki by Nicole Polizzi. It’s kind of like a cotton candy smell, sweety and fruity. A flirty scent.” On her boot line: “It’s called Snooki Boots. I was going to name it Snuggs, but that’s taken. I have a black and a leopard-print one, clogs and slip-ons.” On how much longer she will keep doing Jersey Shore, which wrapped filming on Season 5 : “I’m down to do as many as they want us to.” On giving Kim and all the Kardashians a run for their money in the fame game : “Hopefully. You know I’d love to be on their level. I’m trying.” [Photos: WENN.com]
