Lil Wayne Tour Evolves With ‘So Much’ New Music

‘He’s releasing song after song after song,’ musical director Gil Smith tells MTV News of evolving I Am Still Music Tour. By Rob Markman Lil Wayne Photo: Kevin Winter/Getty Images Lil Wayne is constantly evolving. From a 12-year-old kiddie MC, to the self-proclaimed “best rapper alive” to rock star and now R&B singer, Weezy has kept things interesting during the course of his 14-year career. His I Am Still Music Tour has been just as prolific, thanks to the mass amount of music he’s been releasing. And with his ninth solo album, Tha Carter IV, dropping at midnight after Sunday’s VMAs — where Wayne will also perform — concertgoers can expect some changes to the set list. “I think just in terms of the tour, we’ve been adding songs here and there,” Wayne’s musical director Gil Smith told MTV News. “You gotta understand with Wayne, there is so much music. I mean, we can talk about Tha Carter IV, and then we can sit down and have a different conversation about Sorry 4 the Wait, which was a whole different thing that he put out. So it’s so much music. Even when we’re on the road, he’s releasing song after song after song, so we got to kind of find ways to incorporate that as we go along.” When he and his Young Money compadres opened the tour in May in Providence Rhode Island, Wayne hadn’t yet released his fan-dedicated tape Sorry 4 the Wait, and Tha Carter IV was in release-date limbo. During the course of the concert run, which was extended through September, Wayne released the mixtape and a number of C4 singles. Smith said that by the time the tour wraps, the first show will be much different from the last. It’s not just the music, either. “It’s changed quite a bit. Now he’s skating around the stage, he has a skateboard trainer who’s out there with him,” Smith said. “He’s really into skateboarding, and he’s also into singing for the ladies. There’s a section of the tour that’s dedicated to that, and that’s how we kind of incorporated ‘How to Love,’ along with some other favorites.” Wayne will grace the stage this Sunday at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards, and while Smith wouldn’t reveal what the YMCMB star has planned , he said fans can expect a Weezy they’ve never seen. “We’ve been brainstorming and taking from things that we put together on the road, so I think they can just expect a new-and-improved Wayne, a different Wayne,” he said. “You know, he always comes different: One day he’s a rock star, one day he’s a skater; he’s singing R&B. I think we can expect a little bit of everything in this performance.” The 28th annual MTV Video Music Awards will air live Sunday from Los Angeles at 9 p.m. ET/PT, following the Selena Gomez-hosted pre-show at 8. Kane Beatz Defends Lil Wayne, Working With Nas And Plies

At a mere 23 years old Orlando-born Daniel Johson, aka Kane Beatz , has already  helped make hip-hop history. While he is proud of music he’s produced for Trey Songz (“Bottom’s Up”) and Trick Daddy (“Tuck Your Ice”)  his hit for Nicki Minaj, “Super Bass ” just helped her set a Billboard record. After ten weeks on the charts, the single bumped Missy Elliot’s “Work It” to become the most successful solo single by a female emcee in almost a ten years. “That feels crazy,” he told TheUrbandaily.com of his achievement. “Working with Nicki, she is one of the only female artists in a while that has that kind of potential so it feels incredible.” Beatz is part of a new wave of young producers (Boi-1da, Lex Luger, et al) taking the industry by storm working right from their computer desktops. “Super Bass” was one of four instrumentals he knocked out on Fruity Loops while visiting family in Orlando. “I use a lot of 808 elements in the music,” he answers when asked what makes his bass so Kryptonian . “I was trying to mix R&B and Pop at the time. There’s no real trick to the bass.” In addition to Billboard accolades the song has been covered by American Idol contestant Anoop Desai . While Kane hasn’t heard the cover, he feels it’s a testament to the song’s universal appeal. “I’ve had big records but ‘Super Bass’ connects people from so many different genres. I just take it in and enjoy it.” As any musician will tell you in 2011, success doesn’t come without its challenges. Kane Beatz was also the producer behind Young Money’s hit, “Bedrock,” and the song has recently become the focus of a lawsuit. [ read here ]. “I talked to [my management] about it but nothing has come to them in the mail,” he says. “They don’t even know what that is. I think they had the same name or something. But people don’t understand what it is. Wayne didn’t even write that song. The song is based off an old school pick up line, so I’m not sure what the situation is there.” Unlike some other producers, this may be the only time you hear Kane mention Lil Wayne and legal action in the same sentence. While a list of musicians, including Bangladesh , Playn-N-Skillz and Jim Jonsin are taking Lil Wayne to court for unpaid royalties, Beatz insists that his money is never funny when working with Weezy. “Me personally I’m managed by G. Roberson so Cash Money has always kept the business 100 with me,” he says. “One thing I know about Wayne is that everybody who works with him still ends up working with him so they must be doing something right.” After a busy and lucrative 2010 and 2011, Beatz has completed three songs with Nas for his up-coming album and is scouting talent for his label The Building. “Right now I’ve got JR Get Money, he’s on Lupe Fiasco’s ‘The Show Goes On,’ we gotta new single with Plies and at the same time looking for new outlets. I’m looking for a female artist to invest in.” Nicki Minaj’s “Super Bass” Breaks Record

Ask a Very Smart Brotha: Booty Calls and Greedy Goldfish

Dear Champ, Perhaps you can help me with a strange situation I have never found myself in and I’m trying to make sense out of it. I met a guy about a year and half ago. When we first met at a gathering, sparks were flying between the two of us. We were totally smitten by each other the entire time we were there. If there was ever a such thing as a Soul Mate, we were probably close. However, after awhile, it was obvious that a romantic relationship was out of the question. His secrecy and emotional maturity bothered me and it became more than a notion to try to get him to open up truthfully to me. Even though things didn’t work out between us romantically, we still liked each other on a personal level, and we developed somewhat of a friendship—–over the phone! For some reason, he is content with this phone friendship. We talk 24/7, day and night, night and day for months and months. But, we have very little face-to-face interaction. Now, he claims that he lives in another state, but I never believed it. I believe he lives in the same state and city as I do. Whenever he claims he’s in town, it’s like pulling teeth to get him to visit me.The few times we have spent together, we had a great time (and electrifying sex). I have invited him to different events but he never comes. He always gives me some excuse about his money being low. ( Continue reading… )

10 Ways To Avoid Overdraft Fees

Visit link:

US Banks take in over $38 billion in overdraft fees, which equate to more than 75% of the fees they charge on consumer deposits period. With the economy so tight these days, do you really have additional money to throw out the window? As I often remind my clients, banks are not charities; they will capitalize off of you as much as you allow them to. Sure it’s highway robbery to be charged an average of $35 for taking a quick swipe at McDonald’s, but the bottom line is if you didn’t have the money in your account, it’s your fault. Banks don’t care if the kids where whining about a happy meal. Your negligence just cost the family $35 for a toy that costs $0.035 cents (yes, less than a nickel) to produce. If this happens to you a couple times a month, we’re talking about nearly $1000 a year that could go towards paying down debt, building up emergency savings or even college and retirement planning. So, here are a few ways to avoid those pesky overdraft fees. • Keep your Register Updated . Simply put, if you don’t know how much money is in your checking account right now, then you are at risk of overdrawing your account. Many people falsely believe that keeping a check register in their head is a good idea. It’s inevitable that you will forget something. Instead, make it a habit by entering each check or debit card purchase as it is made. Set aside time when you get home to check your receipts and balance your register. Do this every time you spend, and soon it will be second nature. • Don’t Forget ATM Withdrawals . One of the easiest ways to lose track of your money is to forget to record cash you withdraw from an ATM. It happens to people all the time – they forget to record the withdrawal and when the bank statement comes they find out they have hundreds of dollars less than they thought. Nip this potential problem in the bud by always getting an ATM receipt. Place the receipt in a safe place. When you get home refer to the receipt to enter the withdrawal into your register. • Remember to Record Automatic Payments. Having your utility or insurance company automatically take payments out of your checking account can be very convenient. Overdrawing your account because you forgot to record an automatic payment is unquestionably inconvenient. READ MORE Birdman: Birdbrain Or Businessman? Are You Suffering From “Frugal Fatigue?”

Kim Kardashian Wedding Gowns

“I truly, up until two days before [the wedding] could not decide which to wear,” the bride admits to us. After seeking advice from friends, family — and of course Wang herself — the choice was clear: Kardashian made her grand entrance in what she calls the “princess look” gown, a ball gown with full tulle skirt, basque waist and hand-pieced Chantilly lace appliqué on bodice and train. Along with her Lorraine Schwartz headpiece, she wore a cathedral-length veil with hand-pieced Chantilly lace ap

Lindsay Lohan Crackhead Tits in White at a Fake Wedding of the Day

Lindsay Lohan went to Kim Kardashian’s Porn Wedding, that was clearly a publicity stunt, because America needed their own Royal Wedding, and since America is the majority a trashy, poor, media and TV obsessed, Gossip loving, tabloid smut following, uneducated, uninspired working class….Kim Kardashian saw opportunity…not to mention her whole career was on the decline, people were getting bored and she needed to add a new layer to her lie I am so surprised people care about….cuz I’ve seen it once and I hate the shit….but I guess people are just stuck on loving what is on TV to ignore their shitty life…. I can only assume Lohan was there to take notes on how to make a comeback, since Kardashian has what she doesn’t, a following that makes her money…all based on doing porn while Lohan’s just a failed actor who was whored out by her parents as a kid…and has spent the last 10 years crying about it cuz it’s so hard being a millionaire… The good news is that if she follows the lead of the big brown pig….we’ll all be watching her tired 23 year old vagina struggle to get wet thanks to all the medication and fake lesbianism while a black dude tries to stuff her like thanksgiving turkey….it’s the American dream….and apparently the strategy to get famous….and to some that may not be good news…but I’m the kind of guy who LOVES crackwhores…and based on these pics…Lohan fits that part. Now someone get her an Oscar….

Surprise, Surprise… Sarah Jessica Parker Says There Will Be A “Sex And The City 3″

Her 8-year-old son, James Wilkie, wants to be an actor, and he’s eager to start auditioning. But don’t get too excited, she isn’t sure when it will happen. Sarah Jessica Parker was interviewed for this Sunday’s PARADE magazine and the actress opened up about her home life and the future of “Sex and the City”. Check out some of the interview below: Her 8-year-old son, James Wilkie, wants to be an actor, and he’s eager to start auditioning. “I don’t want him to do it until after he goes to college: But part of me thinks maybe it’s better if he knows the truth now about how hard it is to be a working actor. I don’t know that he grasps what it took to get us here.” Parker acknowledges that her childhood left her with money anxieties and that she’s eager to capitalize on her earning power. “I have a lot of responsibilities outside myself. I have a large family. I want to know I can always be helpful. I guess I worry.” On tying with Angelina Jolie for the top spot on Forbes’ list of highest-earning actresses. “Where do they get these numbers? I didn’t plot a future like this, although I know some people do. When Matthew and I started working, all we knew is that we wanted to be great actors. I don’t think I ever thought about money or that people would know my name. I loooove the work! When I was a little girl getting free lunches in Cincinnati, could I imagine being on a list in Forbes magazine?” On the difficulty of balancing career and motherhood. “We’ve had two occasions recently where both Matthew and I were working, and it was so hard on the kids. Especially James Wilkie, because he can really articulate how he feels about our absence. On the other hand, there are big chunks of time when we’re home a lot more than conventionally working parents. So you hope to make up for it.” On fraternal twins Loretta and Tabitha. “They’re talking, they’re running, they need me. Loretta is deeply inquisitive: ‘Do you see that, do you hear that, Mama?’ She constantly checks that we are connecting with her.” Her sister is the family princess: “Tabitha does not give; she receives.” Babysitters? Yes. Live-in help? Not for them. “We love closing the door and having the only people in the house be our three children and us. It’s such a good feeling to know that we’re competent and capable and that it’s private.” On the things Broderick has helped her appreciate after nearly 20 years together. Baseball, Parmesan cheese, color (“Matthew’s mother was a painter, and he taught me to love colors and break all the rules”). She also says that “he’s given me a little cynicism,” noting that she used to take the world at face value but that her husband is more skeptical. “I’m less Pollyanna now. That’s probably healthy.” For her part, Parker has shared her love of ballet, and, she says, “I make him [get out and] do things. We go to the theater and we travel because I plan it.” Any chance for a third Sex and the City movie? “There is. I know what the story is. It’s a small story, but I think it should be told. The question is, what’s the right time to tell it?” There you have it folks. A lot of people were not happy with “Sex And The City 2,” with the money they could make off a third movie it seems like a given it will happen, but do you think it’s a mistake? What would you want to see happen in “Sex And The City 3″???
