Sarah Jones Pleads Guilty to Having Sex With Minor

Former NFL cheerleader Sarah Jones has pleaded guilty to having sex with her 17-year-old former student while she was a teacher at a Kentucky high school. Jones will NOT serve jail time as a result. In a tearful admission in Kenton County Circuit Court in Covington, Ky., Sarah Jones , 27, pleaded guilty to sexual misconduct and custodial interference. “I began a romantic relationship while he was a student and I was in a position of authority ,” Jones said, her voice cracking as family members wiped their tears. The one-time Cincinnati Ben-Gal then detailed her dalliances with the boy. Jones admitted that the two had sex, that she sent him sexually explicit text messages and lied about the relationship to police, beginning in February 2011. The teen had been in Jones’ freshman English class in 2008, and she was his peer tutor in 2010 and 2011 before he graduated at the age of 17 this year. In accepting the plea agreement, Judge Patricia Summe granted prosecutors’ recommendation to sentence Jones to five years of diversion but no jail time. The ” female Sandusky ” won’t have to register as a sex offender, either. The diversion requires Jones to report to a probation officer and undergo drug tests. Prosecutors said they were willing to make the deal because the teen, now 18, and his family were uncooperative with them and on Jones’ side.

Today Show Producer Takes Blame for Ann Curry Firing

Don’t blame Matt Lauer. That’s the message Jim Bell tried to send yesterday in an interview centered on the troubles at Today . With ratings still in decline and with the Ann Curry firing debacle still hanging over the program, the executive producer attempted to shift blame away from his star. “It was definitely not Matt’s call,” Bell said, responding to rumors that Lauer is to blame for Curry’s dismissal. “[Matt] is the host and does not have management responsibility. It was not his call. That was my call. But Bell’s sincerity is now being called into question. Insiders tell The New York Post that Lauer was “sick of being the punching bag” for Today and forced Bell to take responsibility for Curry. “Matt feels that Jim didn’t take accountability for all the ratings drama at Today . [Jim] was away at the Olympics, getting all the glory,” a source told the newspaper. “So Lauer forced Jim to stand in the firing line.” Where does the truth lie? We may never know. But we can hear the glasses toasting at Good Morning America right at this very moment.

Matt Lauer on Al Roker Shenanigans, Today Show Ratings: No Worries!

Matt Lauer may have signed an 11-figure deal to remain lead anchor on The Today Show earlier this summer, but it’s been anything but smooth sailing for the reporter since. Many blame Lauer for the Ann Curry mess. The program is now regular destroyed by Good Morning America in the ratings. Al Roker appears to be poking fun at his coworkers on a regular basis. And, yesterday, Today chose to air an interview with Kris Jenner instead of observing a 9/11-based moment of silence. Where is Lauer’s head these days as a result of such developments? He tells TMZ that there’s no beef with Roker and, sure, there’s pressure for the show to succeed. But no more than usual “We feel the heat every day,” Lauer says . “But we have for the last 20 years that I’ve been there. We’re just trying to do the best show we can do every single day … and I think we’re doing a good job right now … and I think the cycle will reverse.” Are you still watching The Today Show?

The Today Show Chooses Kris Jenner Over 9/11 Tribute

Turns out, the Ann Curry firing debacle was NOT the lowest point to which The Today Show could sink. At 8:46 a.m. today – the time at which the first place hit the World Trade Center 11 years ago – New York City and Washington, D.C. held a moment of silence in memory of 9/11. All the cable networks, Good Morning America and CBS This Morning all provided coverage of the tribute. The Today Show aired an interview with Kris Jenner. In NBC’s defense, Jenner touched on her decision to air footage of herself getting breast implants reduced, telling Savanna Guthrie of the filmed procedure and why she’s a role model: It’s necessary to “change them after 10 years… it was so important, health-wise, to remind women to check your expiration date because it’s a health risk.” Jenner also spoke on the relationship between Kanye West and Kim Kardashian , labeling the rapper as a a “really a great guy” and adding: “I think they are well suited for each other and I think they are really, really happy and anybody who has kids knows that when your kids are happy, you are happy.” So it’s not like Today chose to run meaningless, ratings-grabbing fluff in lieu of honoring the victims of our nation’s most horrific tragedy.
