Clint Eastwood on American Sniper Critics: They’re Right!

Well, this is unexpected. In case you’re somehow unaware, the new Clint Eastwood-Bradley Cooper film American Sniper is a massive hit with audiences, but its also drawn a good deal of criticism, in part because large portions of Chris Kyle’s memoirs – on which the film was based – are believed to be fabricated. Michael Moore referred to snipers as cowards and is still subjected to daily Twitter hate as a result. Seth Rogen compared the film to Nazi propaganda and the actor received swift and immediate backlash. Eastwood has been largely silent on the subject, so it was somewhat surprising when he decided to offer his two cents to a TMZ cameraman last night. It’s really surprising when you hear what he had to say: Clint Eastwood Talks American Sniper Yes, Squinty Clint seems to agree with those who have claimed that the film is not without its problematic elements. It’s possible that Eastwood just misunderstood the question, but it’s equally possible that he meant what he said, and that his film is being used to support political ideologies with which he doesn’t agree. Anyone who’s seen at the RNC knows that Clint is a card-carrying Republican, but he’s generally moderate and often left-leaning in his politics. Eastwood has been openly critical of the wars in both Iraq and Afghanistan, and though he’s clearly a supporter of the troops, it’s not surprising that he might object to some warhawks finding a message in Sniper that’s not really there. Or, it could be that he acknowledges that Kyle made some questionable claims in his autobiography and you’re not necessarily disparaging an American hero if you point out that Kyle didn’t really snipe looters after Katrina or beat up Governor Jesse Ventura. Or maybe Clint’s just defending the right of his critics to openly express their thoughts on his film. After all, Clint is pretty much the quintessential American, and what’s more American than freedom of speech? Then again, this is the same  Eastwood that threatened to kill Michael Moore , so there might be something to that “didn’t understand the question” theory. Debut Roles of 2015 Oscar Nominees 1. Ghostbusters 3 Cast: Revealed!

Who ya gonna call? Apparently, some of the funniest women in comedy! Yes, it’ll be hard to beat the dream team of Bill Murray, Harold Ramis, Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudson, but if anyone’s up to the task, it’s certainly the four women who will be strapping on their proton packs for the highly-anticipated Ghostbusters 3 .  The Hollywood Reporter revealed today that Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones, Kate McKinnon and Melissa McCarthy will be cracking wise and blasting ghouls in the next installment of the iconic franchise. McCarthy and Wiig both worked with director Paul Feig on the 2011 hit Bridesmaids. McKinnon and Jones are two of the most buzzed-about standouts from the current SNL cast. (If you’ve never seen McKinnon’s flawless Justin Bieber impression , click on that link ASAP.) This will be the first major film role for both women. The announcement of the cast is a major step forward for a film that’s been mired in development hell for several years. It was originally to serve as a straightforward sequel starring the original cast, but director Ivan Reitman dropped out after the death of Ramis last year. Murray, Aykroyd and Hudson followed suit shortly thereafter. When Feig announced his intention to reboot the franchise with an all-female cast, some fans were skeptical. (Hudson stated flat-out that he doesn’t think it’ll work). But after the announcement of a cast like this we can’t imagine that many fans aren’t eagerly anticipating what’s sure to be a different (and hilarious) take on four beloved characters. 36 Memorable Movie Posters 1. Aaron Paul to Play Young Han Solo in Star Wars Spinoff?!

Looks like the Millennium Falcon might be getting outfitted with some chintzy rims and a secret stash spot, because Jesse Pinkman is rumored to be taking the wheel. In addition to the J.J. Abrams-directed Episode VII slated for release in December of 2015, Disney plans to produce a series of standalone spinoff features with various directors at the helm. One such film is rumored to center around the adventures of a young Han Solo, with Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul in the leading role. Thus far, this rumor has been confirmed by exactly no one who’s connected to the production, but it’s been reported as fact by a site called Making Star Wars that actually has a pretty good track record with regard to accuracy. Of course, we’ll cop to a bit of wishful-thinking bias, because we’re seriously hoping we’ll get to hear the line, “It’s the ship that made the Kessel run in less than 12 parsecs, bitch !” Let’s not get ahead of ourselves in terms of Star Wars rumors, though. The solo Solo flick (if it happens at all) won’t be released for years, so let’s just focus on how awesome the Episode VII trailer looks and try to hibernate until this time next year. You know a movie will be badass when even the fake, fan-made trailers look amazing. So yeah, our appetite for a galaxy far, far away will soon be sated, and we should be happy with what’s already in store. Still, we can’t stop thinking that Paul as Solo would be perfect casting… And yes, many have already made the joke that Khloe Kardashian should be cast as Chewbacca, but we’ll repeat it here anyway, because it’s our new year’s resolution to stop being terrible people, but last we checked, it’s still 2014. 11 Memorable Scenes from the Star Wars Trailer 1. John Boyega As… … A Stormtrooper, we assume. But could this new cast member be posing as a Stormtrooper?

Furious 7 Trailer: One Last Ride…

The first trailer for Furious 7 has arrived. And it’s every bit as awesome, as action-packed and as bittersweet as you’d imagine it to be. The film, set for release on April 3, 2015, features some of the final acting scenes Paul Walker filmed before his stunning death in December of 2013. In the surefire blockbuster, he reprises his role as Brian O’Connor, joining forces up once again with Vin Diesel’s Dom Toretto for some serious street racing, some risky heists and a lot of general hijinks. Furious 7 Trailer As Toretto says at one point in the above footage, it’s time for “one last ride.” The trailer also depicts Dom, Brian and other members of this crew – Michelle Rodriguez’s Letty Ortiz, Tyrese’s Roman Pearce and Ludacris’ Tej Parker – revving their car engines… while on board a four-engine transport plane. “Just when you didn’t think it could get any better, huh?” Walker says. Like we said: bittersweet. Walker died in car accident just under a year ago at age 40, leaving behind a daughter. May he rest in peace. Remembering Paul Walker (1973-2013) 1. Paul Walker, Daughter Meadow Paul Walker and his daughter Meadow pose for a sweet photo. May he rest in peace and may she find it.

Merry Friggin’ Christmas: Trailer For Robin Williams’ Final Film Released Online

After news broke that Robin Williams had committed suicide back in August, fans mourned the loss of one of the sharpest comedic minds the world has ever known. While his existing body of work will be enjoyed for generations to come, it seemed impossible to imagine that someone so lively and animated as Williams would never again grace the screen with his distinct blend of manic energy and real human emotion. Fortunately, before he died, Williams wrapped filming on a dark holiday comedy titled Merry Friggin’ Christmas. The trailer for Robin’s final film was released online earlier today. Merry Friggin Christmas Trailer In the film, Williams plays the cantankerous father of Joel McHale and Clark Duke who must make an emergency last-minute road trip with his adult children in order to “save Christmas.” The actor was reportedly working on a number of projects in the months before his death, but Merry Friggin’ Christmas is said to be the last film that he completed before his unexpected passing. While Williams has been the subject of many moving rembrances  from fans and friends alike, we can’t think of a more fitting tribute to one of the funniest men who’s ever lived than to watch him do what he does best on the silver screen one last time. Robin Williams: His Most Memorable Roles 1. Mork (Mork & Mindy) The role that started it all. Robin Williams starred as an alien on the late 1970s sitcom Mork & Mindy.

Has Spirit Airlines gone too far? Or is the company’s latest ad campaign just too darn funny? With more and more lewd pictures of celebrities being released online each day ( Jill Scott nude pics have now been verified as legitimate) by a hacker on the photo-sharing site 4chan, Spirit has taken advantage of this scandal with a new advertisement. It features a nude woman covering up her breasts and it includes the tagline: Our Bare Fare was Hacked! “We feel naked; you were never supposed to see this Bare Fare!” reads the flyer. “It was meant for a special someone (who isn’t you). Now it’s all over the internet for you to take advantage of as you see fit. Scandalous! “We thought the cloud was our friend, y’know, because we spend so much time flying with ‘em. But now our private prices are on display! Bad for us; GREAT for you.” The campaign as come under some from those who don’t believe this nude photo scandal is something to mock. Lena Dunham, for instance, believes the hacker is a sex offender and has urged everyone to boycott the illicit images of Jennifer Lawrence nude and Kate Upton without clothes on. “Spirit isn’t your typical airline,” a spokesman for the company says in response to the backlash. “Our ads are fun and often irreverent. We have a long history of taking major, national news stories and connecting them to our marketing.” This is true, as also evidenced by the Carlos Danger ad that parodied the Anthony Weiner text message controversy. Of course, no woman had her privacy intimately violated in that controversy. And, perhaps even more importantly, this new ad campaign simply isn’t funny. If you’re gonna cross a line, Spirit, you’ve gotta bring the laughter. What do YOU think of this Spirit Airlines ad. It is…   Funny! Foul!
