Will ‘Breaking Dawn’ R-Rated Sex Scene Make The DVD?

Director Bill Condon ‘went for it’ on too-hot-for-PG-13 version of the honeymoon, screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg tells MTV News. By Terri Schwartz, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart in “Breaking Dawn” Photo: Summit “Twilight” fans should know by now that the original sex scene filmed for “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1” was a lot steamier than the version that made the final cut. The MPAA said the film would need an R rating if director Bill Condon didn’t cut out some of the “thrusting.” Needless to say, he did, and “Breaking Dawn – Part 1” currently reigns atop the box office with a PG-13 rating. But screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg admitted to MTV News that she wished the raunchier cut had made it to the big screen. “Bill, he went for it,” Rosenberg said with a laugh when she recently spoke to MTV News. “I wanted to keep [the footage].” Though all the bumping and grinding didn’t make it to the final cut of the film, Rosenberg is crossing her fingers that a lot of the footage will make it to the DVD. So everyone out there hoping that some of the more explicit parts of that sex scene will one day be released for public consumption, you just might be in luck. That’s not the only scene that got chopped from the final cut of the movie, though. Rosenberg said there was a sequence before Bella and Edward’s wedding that also got the ax because it was slowing down the rest of the movie. “There was a whole section before the wedding with Charlie, Renee and Carlisle and Edward, kind of a back-and-forth, but it just slowed everything down. But there are some nice things in there,” she said. To calm fans who might be upset about missing that interaction, Rosenberg added, “But again, these are things that will show up someday.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com . ‘Breaking Dawn’ Screenwriter Invited Herself To Wedding

‘I was [Bella’s mom] Renee’s friend from California,’ Melissa Rosenberg says of scripting backstory for her ‘Part 1’ cameo. By Terri Schwartz, with reporting by Josh Horowitz The wedding scene from “Breaking Dawn – Part 1” Photo: Summit The first “Breaking Dawn – Part 1” teaser trailer , released back in June, gave fans a look at the wedding of Bella Swan and Edward Cullens. But equally interesting were the guests of honor featured in the wedding sequence, which introduced new characters like the Denali clan of vampires. But with the movie in theaters on Friday (November 18), one attendee in particular will likely have Twilighters geeking out. “The Twilight Saga” author Stephenie Meyer made her first cameo in the series back in 2008’s “Twilight,” playing a restaurant patron. But the author-turned-executive producer on parts 1 and 2 of “Breaking Dawn” couldn’t resist returning to the big screen so she could attend the wedding ceremony she inspired. In a blink-and-you-miss it moment, Meyer can be spotted sitting in the pews on Bella and Edward’s big day. But she’s not the only behind-the-scenes figure who makes a sneak appearance. “I’m right next to her!” “Breaking Dawn” screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg recently told MTV News. Rosenberg understands, however, if fans don’t recognize her on the first viewing, because even she couldn’t find her cameo at first. She admitted to jokingly telling director Bill Condon that “there’s one guest at the wedding who’s not seen enough,” until Condon added a few more frames in the movie. But when Rosenberg still couldn’t spot herself among the guests, Condon took matters into his own hands. “Finally, during one screening, he stopped and said, ‘See! There you are!’ ” she said with a laugh. “It was Stephenie and then [producer] Wyck Godfrey and then myself and then [producer] Bill Bannerman, we were all in the same row at the wedding.” And as Meyer and Rosenberg are behind the “Twilight Saga” screenplays, it only makes sense that they took the time to come up with a backstory for their respective characters at the wedding. “Stephenie was married to Wyck, and I was [Bella’s mom] Renee’s friend from California,” Rosenberg explained. It sounds like there’s a fan-fiction to be written about the time between Meyer’s diner dinner and when she got invited to the Cullen wedding!” Did you spot the screenwriters in “Breaking Dawn – Part”? Breaking Dawn Director Gave Fans ‘A Lot’ Of Sex

Bill Condon tells MTV News he tried ‘to give people the experience they had reading the book’ in ‘Part I.’ By Terri Schwartz, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Director Bill Condon on the set of “Twilight: Breaking Dawn – Part 1” with Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson Photo: Andrew Cooper/Summit a href=”http://www.mtv.com/movies/movie/454504/moviemain.jhtml”> “Breaking Dawn – Part 1” features two of the most hotly anticipated moments in the entire “Twilight Saga.” First, love birds Bella Swan and Edward Cullen finally get it on. And later, in a far less tender scene, Bella endures a pretty gory birth to give life to her half-human, half-vampire daughter, Renesmee. Bill Condon knew all along that those two scenes were pivotal moments that he would need to get right onscreen. But keeping in mind the PG-13 rating the studio wanted to preserve, the director also knew that he had to tackle those intense sequences without going too far over the line. When MTV News caught up with Condon, he predicted that fans will be pleased with the final product (especially the sex scene), which hit theaters on Friday (November 18). As in the novel, the honeymoon scene plays out mostly through Bella remembering the passionate night the morning after, which allowed Condon to show the event in several parts. “I think when you see the movie you’ll see, you think you get it and then you get more of it and then you get more of it, which I think was part of the intention because it’s such a big thing — everyone’s been waiting for it,” he said. “We just wanted to make sure you got a lot of it when you got it.” And Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart were good sports about the whole process, Condon said, though he admitted filming the steamy section got “kind of clinical.” The scene was carefully choreographed but the two lead actors were “so cool about it.” The birthing sequence, which easily could have pushed the film to an “R” rating, proved similarly challenging. Condon wanted to stay as true as possible to Stephenie Meyer’s depiction but he knew he couldn’t be too graphic. “You want to give people the experience they had reading the book, and that was incredibly powerful, the way Stephenie described it. “You can’t show everything, obviously, we have a [PG-13] rated movie,” he said. “But we did it through the point of view of Bella and what she can see as she’s giving birth. I think your imagination fills in a lot of that.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com . Tyler Perry Defends Kim Kardashian Kasting as "Responsible"

Kim Kardashian has been cast in a Tyler Perry movie titled The Marriage Counselor . Even if she isn’t playing the title role, come on, that’s hilarious. But not to the mega producer himself. He doesn’t really get the humor behind this selection, even after Kim filed for divorce 72 days after wedding Kris Humphries. And even though, you know, she cannot act. “She literally has millions of young people following her,” Perry wrote on his official website. “I thought and still do think, that it would be very responsible of her to be a part of this film… If one of those young people see this film and find the strength to live a better life and not go through what these characters went through in this movie, then we have all done what I feel I’m being led to do here.” Decent point, Ty. But do those followers really need Kim to star in a movie in order to use her life story as a cautionary tale? Asked Perry: “Because I believe that my films speak from the inside out, why wouldn’t Kim Kardashian be invited into a film about Faith, Forgiveness and the healing power of God?” We’re just guessing here… but maybe because she has no soul? ‘Breaking Dawn – Part 1’: Everything You Need To Know

We’ve been following the penultimate ‘Twilight’ entry for years … and now it’s finally here! By Eric Ditzian Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart in “Twilight: Breaking Dawn – Part 1” Photo: Summit Entertainment Well over three years after “Twilight” author Stephenie Meyer exclusively told MTV News that “Breaking Dawn” should be split into two films, the first part of the vampire epic rolled into theaters Friday (November 18). In the time since that interview, we’ve covered the two films exhaustively. The sheer amount of content is staggering — hours and hours of interviews, exclusive reveals of footage and photos, analysis of casting news and conversations with fans. And right here on this page you can find it all. Right here, you can find out everything there is to know about “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1”: The Split The official announcement that “Breaking Dawn” would be split into two movies came in June 2010, shortly before “Eclipse” opened to a $64 million weekend. By then, “Dreamgirls” director Bill Condon had already bested Gus Van Sant and Sofia Coppola for the right to helm the films. “I definitely think it was the right thing to do, for the movie and for the book,” Taylor Lautner told MTV News of the split. “It’s hard enough to condense 500 pages into a script, but to condense 800 and everything that’s going on in ‘Breaking Dawn,’ it would have been impossible.” Soon, casting for the new vamps had begun, with folks like Maggie Grace, Lee Pace and Noel Fisher signing on to play bloodsuckers. Young Mackenzie Foy was picked to be Bella and Edward’s daughter. Filming kicked off in Rio de Janeiro in November 2010. The First Looks The first peek at the movie arrived shortly thereafter — a simple shot of Kristen Stewart clutching feathers in her hand during her honeymoon. Months would go by until we actually got a look at Stewart and Pattinson in the flesh. To start the new year, Summit released a photo of the two lovebirds in bed . “It’s always awkward in a way if you’re doing it with anybody,” RPattz told us of the sex scene. “It really depends on how it’s staged and stuff. It’s like doing Twister.” During an “MTV First” with Pattinson tied to “Water for Elephants,” the Brit ended up spilling tons of dirt on “Breaking Dawn” — sex scenes, musical performances and his thoughts on his movie daughter. Lautner sat down for his own “MTV First” shortly thereafter, an effort to promote “Abduction,” but obviously the talk turned early and often to “Twilight.” In June came the MTV Movie Awards, and, as usual, we delivered a “Twilight” first look: this time, an exclusive trailer for “Breaking Dawn – Part 1,” complete with evidence of Bella Swan’s wedded bliss and baby bump. Fans were blown away , and so was Stewart, as she told us later at San Diego Comic-Con. “I think the most surreal experience was getting married,” she said. “It was right at the bitter end. I was amping up to it the entire time. They left me on my toes for six months. And then it was just sort of very cathartic to see the entire cast in the pews and everyone excited to see how it was all going to go down.” The Arrival More footage , more posters and more photos continued to arrive. The soundtrack lineup hit the Web in September — including names like Bruno Mars, Christina Perri and Theophilus London — and the cavalcade of premieres began in October. Before their U.S. press duties truly kicked off, we sat down with Pattinson, Stewart and Lautner for yet another “MTV First.” There was talk of sex, abs and G-strings, as well as the debut of an exclusive clip . We also sat down for extended one-on-one interviews with the three actors: Pattinson discussed fulfilling sexual fantasies, Stewart confessed that the sex scene was “all close-ups,” and Lautner revealed that he fought against taking his shirt off in the movie. With just days to go until opening, we hit the “Breaking Dawn” black carpet in Los Angeles. Though all the Twi-craziness has been part of his life for years, Pattinson admitted he still can’t comprehend it all. “It’s like an alternate reality,” he told us. “My everyday life is so boring, and then you go to these things and everyone thinks something cool is happening.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com . ‘Breaking Dawn – Part 1’: Everything You Need To Know

Noel Gallagher Soars With High Flying Birds

Former Oasis songwriter’s solo debut has earned rave reviews, none of which impress him all that much. By James Montgomery Noel Gallagher Photo: MTV News Given all the recent coverage of his run-in with Katie Holmes and various, life-altering ways , you may be unaware that Noel Gallagher , late of Oasis , has just released his first proper solo album, a rock-solid collection of tunes that run the gamut from psych-tinged burners (“[I Wanna Live in a Dream in My] Record Machine”) to straight-ahead churners (“Everybody’s on the Run”), with stops at just about every point in between. He’s called the disc Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, a nod to both the first Fleetwood Mac album and a Jefferson Airplane song of (roughly) the same name, and so far, things are soaring. It’s been greeted with glowing reviews, most of which seem to harp on the fact that the album represents “his best tunes in 15 years.” Of course, in typical Gallagher fashion, he’s not paying attention to any of it. “I didn’t read any of the reviews and think, ‘Well, these people think I’ve been writing crap songs for the last 15 years.’ I don’t think of things like that,” he told MTV News. “When I’m in the studio, I’m literally taking it song by song and then, you know, you get to the end of it. I got to say though, during the mixing of it, as each track was being finished, I was thinking, ‘This does sound really good. …’ “But I wouldn’t like to compare it to anything Oasis did, because that’s not fair,” he continued. “We were a band and I was writing songs for someone else to sing, so you can’t really compare the two. It’s just a good record, what can I say?” Humility was never his strong suit. Neither, apparently, was guitar playing. Because even though he slung the ax loud and often in Oasis, he never really considered himself to be a guitar player . Which is why, on High Flying Birds, he limited the showing off — there are, by unofficial count, just two solos on the whole album — and focused instead on doing what he loves best: writing killer tunes. “I guess when guitarists make solo records, there’s usually a lot of showing off. But I’ve been trying to convince for 20 years that I’m not a guitarist, I’m a songwriter. I played lead guitar in the band because everybody else, in the early days, was useless, so that kind of fell to me,” he laughed. “But it’s not something I ever thought I would put myself up there with John Squire or Johnny Marr or all those great British guitarists, that’s not my thing. My thing was songwriting. I only noticed [the lack of solos] when a friend of mine was listening to the finished version, and it got to track six and he went, ‘You know, that’s the first guitar solo,’ and I was like, ‘Wow, someone’s got an easy gig, doesn’t he?’ ” And since there’s not going to be an Oasis reunion in the cards anytime soon, Gallagher is focused on promoting Birds both here and abroad. He’s playing on just about every continent over the next six months and seems quite content to be doing nothing else. Especially attempting to figure out the machinations of the music industry of 2011 … a plan he abandoned long ago, thanks in no small part to his daughter. “She is into music, she’s never mentioned Justin Bieber to me … Lady Gaga’s her thing, and Rihanna and, is it, Miley Cyrus? All that kind of thing,” he said. “It’s kind of a rule, she’s got to like Oasis and her old fella, so she’s into that side of it. But her teenage rock years will come [and], no doubt, she’ll be into f—ing Nickelback as well.” Related Videos MTV News Extended Play: Noel Gallagher

Taylor Lautner On Honeymoon Scene: ‘It’s About Time’

‘I’ve seen Edward and Bella go through a lot so far, so I feel like I was kind of ready to see this,’ Lautner tells MTV News. By Tiffany Miles, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner in “Breaking Dawn, Part 1” Photo: Summit Entertainment Of all the buzz surrounding this week’s hugely anticipated release of “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1,” the vast majority of fan rumblings and excitement have been about and for one scene and one scene only: the “honeymoon scene,” a.k.a. Bella and Edward’s sex scene. It’s a different story for the actors involved, specifically for Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart , who have talked at length about how awkward filming the scene was. Their co-stars seem to be onboard with their enthusiasm for the “action,” however. When MTV News caught up with Taylor Lautner recently, he said he was ready for it. “I’ve seen Edward and Bella go through a lot so far, so I feel like I was kind of ready to see this,” Lautner said. “I think everybody will feel the same way. We’ve seen Edward and Bella in their relationship grow so much that it’s about time.” “Twilight” author Stephenie Meyer told us at the “Breaking Dawn” premiere that the scene in the movie gives fans a lot more to see and think about than she did in the book. “I think it’s romantic, and it does give you more than the book does,” Meyer said. “I know some of the sites call it, instead of ‘fade to black,’ ‘fade to sad.’ They’d love to see more. I think this gives them that,” she said. “It gives them a romantic peek into the honeymoon. We don’t want to see too much.” Although everyone seems to be excited to see the honeymoon scene, Lautner still isn’t sure that Bella made the right decision when she chose Edward over his character, Jacob Black. When asked if he thought Bella made the wrong call, he jokingly said, “You know, I go back and forth with that one [question] still.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com . Bad Movies We Love: Twilight

I’m clinically unashamed most of the time, but today I come to you with a confession worthy of St. Augustine or at least Diane Keaton : Twilight may be the ultimate Bad Movie We Love. It is surely bad, as it looks and acts like the longest, moodiest Evanescence video of all time, but it’s also hard to resist. It’s neither pretentious nor overconfident. It’s silly. Bella Swan is hot for a shock-white ghoul with darting pupils and a social disorder. Celebrate.
