Source: Patrick McMullan / Getty Linda Fairtein Calls Netflix’s ‘When They See Us’ An “Outright Fabrication” The main woman responsible for incarcerating five innocent teens is, of course, still defending her atrocious actions. In an op-ed for the Wall Street Journal , former Manhattan District Attorney’s office prosecutor Linda Fairstein slammed When They See Us , the Netflix mini-series based on the Central Park Five case. Fairstein argues that the four-part series omits crucial details, including a “riot” involving more than 30 people that allegedly went down on April 19, 1989 — the same date of the attack on the Central Park jogger Trisha Meili. Fairstein claims that reporters and Ava DuVernay have only focused on the five accused teens and the one victim in the jogger attack, not the riot. Not sh**. The movie is about the CENTRAL PARK FIVE and the JOGGER CASE. Anywaaays, Fairstein went on to say that the movie missed “the larger picture of that terrible night: a riot in the dark that resulted in the apprehension of more than 15 teenagers who set upon multiple victims.” She continued that on that night “eight others were attacked, including two men who were beaten so savagely that they required hospitalization for head injuries.” She then argues that there’s compelling evidence that the Central Park five were involved in the “riot.” Again, what’s that got to do with the jogger case????????? The one in which Matias Reyes was proven to be Meili’s attacker thanks to a confession and DNA evidence. But Fairstein kept on about the OTHER alleged attacks that happened that night: “The other charges, for crimes against other victims, should not have been vacated. Nothing Mr. Reyes said exonerated these five of those attacks. And there was certainly more than enough evidence to support those convictions of first-degree assault, robbery, riot and other charges,” Fairstein writes. Fairstein also denies the portrayal of the five teens being held without food or deprived of their parents’ company during questioning: “If that had been true, surely they would have brought those issues up and prevailed in pretrial hearings on the voluntariness of their statements, as well as in their lawsuit against the city. They didn’t, because it never happened,” Fairstein writes. Fairstein also says that DuVernay portrays her as an “prosecutor and a bigot, the police as incompetent or worse, and the five suspects as innocent of all charges against them” and claims that “none of this is true.” She finishes by arguing that “it is a wonderful thing that these five men have taken themselves to responsible positions and community respect,” but reiterated that DuVernay “ignored so much of the truth about the gang of 30 and about the suffering of their victims” and described this as an “outrage.” Ava’s response to Linda’s “outrage?” The filmmaker responded to the op-ed on Twitter, calling Fairstein’s words “expected and typical.” Then she simply added, “Onward.” Expected and typical. Onward… https://t.co/phJtFpvH0a — Ava DuVernay (@ava) June 11, 2019 Our thoughts exactly. We’ll leave Fairstein to worry about stepping down from more boards and her book publisher dropping her like a hot ceramic plate.
Source: Warner Bros. Studios / Warner Bros. Studios To many, if not everyone, Wonder Woman’s appearance in the lackluster Batman V. Superman was the best part of the movie and many of those same people felt that Patty Jenkins’ standalone Wonder Woman film was the best film to come out of the DCEU. With one whole year to go before we find out what’s next for the Amazon princess in the highly anticipated sequel Wonder Woman 1984 , Jenkins gave fans a sneak peak at the new armor she’ll be donning in the film and boy it’s a doozy. By now you’ve heard: WB isn’t going to Hall H this year. We’re so sad to miss you there! And waiting until Dec. to start our official #WW84 campaign in full– But the truth is… we can just… barely… wait… pic.twitter.com/QllFzhYRA6 — Patty Jenkins (@PattyJenks) June 5, 2019 Standing in a spectrum of vibrant rainbow colors (happy Pride Month!), the new Wonder Woman armor seems to be mainly gold (she is royalty) and covers way more of his physical degree than her previous costume. Many fans were quick to point out that her new duds seem to be inspired by Mark Waid and Alex Ross’s classic Kingdom Come series in which Wonder Woman and the rest of the Justice League find themselves retired from superhero life only to come out of retirement after the new generation of heroes ways of protecting becomes reckless and tragic. Whether or not that is the case remains to be seen as we’re sure Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins will answer as many fans questions as possible at the upcoming San Diego Comic Con, but until then all we can do is take in all this goodness and appreciate what Jenkins has done with the classic superhero thus far. Wonder Woman 1984 hits theaters on June 5, 2020.

Source: David Howells / Getty Frank Lucas Dead At Age 88 The man who Denzel Washington immortalized on the silver screen has gone home to glory. According to Rolling Stone , heroin kingpin Frank Lucas died of natural causes yesterday as confirmed by his nephew Aldwan Lassiter. For those who haven’t seen American Gangster, Lucas is a legend of sorts. He is credited as the visionary behind the “Golden Triangle” cartel that imported heroin from Asia inside the coffins of dead Vietnam soldiers. “Who the hell is gonna look in a dead soldier’s coffin,” Lucas said told New York in the 2000 article “The Return of Superfly.” “We had him make up 28 copies of the government coffins . . . except we fixed them up with false bottoms, big enough to load up with six, maybe eight kilos.” (Lucas’ coffin claim, however, came into question following the release of the movie.) The DEA and NYPD collaborated to bring Lucas down in 1975. The drug czar would eventually go on to snitch on a LOT of people as he turned state’s evidence The Drug Enforcement Agency and the New York Police Department ultimately ended Lucas’ reign in 1975, with Lucas receiving a 70-year prison sentence. However, Lucas later turned state’s witness and provided evidence that resulted in dozens of drug-related arrests. Lucas was released from prison in 1981 after his sentence was reduced to time served. Three years later, Lucas was again busted for a drug deal that violated his parole and spent seven years behind bars. Sterling Johnson, a former New York City special narcotics prosecutor, called Lucas’ operation “one of the most outrageous international dope-smuggling gangs ever . . . an innovator who got his own connection outside the U.S. and then sold the stuff himself in the street.” Source: David Howells / Getty We’re not sure if Frank Lucas is in Heaven or Hell but rest in peace, Black man.
It’s a wild week for shocking accusations in celebrity memoirs. First, Lamar Odom claimed a pimp tried to kill him, and now former Saturday Night Live star Chris Kattan has leveled some appalling accusations at iconic producer Lorne Michaels. Kattan was an SNL regular from 1996 to 2003. He played a number of recurring characters, most notably one half of the Roxbury Guys, alongside Will Ferrell. In homage to his most famous schtick, Kattan titled his newly-released memoir Baby, Don’t Hurt Me . And unlike SNL stars past, he didn’t hold back in his portrayal of the show’s famously domineering — and oddly humorous — creator, Lorne Michaels. When Roxbury was adapted into a movie in 1998 (for our younger readers — this used to be a common practice for popular SNL sketches), Amy Heckerling was tapped to direct. Following the success of such films as Fast Times at Ridgemont High and Clueless , Heckerling was one of the most in-demand comedy directors in Hollywood. And it seems Michaels was willing to go to great lengths to keep her attached to the project. Or more accurately, he was willing to pressure his employees to go to great lengths. “Paramount would only do the movie if Amy signed on as a director, not as a producer,” Kattan writes. “[Michaels] wanted to make sure the movie happened, then [he] had to keep Amy happy.” He recalls a phone call with Michaels in which his boss instructed in him just how to keep Heckerling happy” “Chris, I’m not saying you have to f–k her, but it wouldn’t hurt,” he recalls Michaels saying. And so, Kattan got it on with Heckerling — and was respectful to Lorne in the process: “She thought it would be fun to have sex on Lorne’s desk,” he writes. “Wow, what a great idea! Jesus Christ. I said a polite ‘F–k, no!’ to that, so we ended up going to her office and having sex on … yep, you guessed it, the ‘casting couch.’ ” Michaels’ camp has issued a firm denial, stating simply: “This did not happen.” Obviously, we can’t say for certain who’s telling the truth — but it would be a pretty random story for Kattan to make up 20 years later.

Annoying activist Shailene Woodley, who I just assumed was a lesbian until she shocked us all with some athlete boyfriend who she was madly in love with, has her tits out for a magazine…not quite her tits out at the level we’d want them to be out…you know like in her movie where she played a sailing woman lost at sea….where there was at least one scene of her tits….I assume I posted that scene HERE ….but there’s some cleavage, and to the virgin loser who visits a site like this, it’s safe to assume that is enough… So when Shailene Woodley is not getting arrested protesting oil pipelines in North Dakota or whatever else she’s attached herself to…she’s out promoting herself as some kind of model…for the fans, the perverts, the people….and this is what that looks like.. Allison Williams took audiences by storm with her performance as Rose in Jordan Peele ‘s hit movie Get Out, a movie about white people transplanting their brains into the body of talented Black people. Now in her latest movie The Perfection , which hits Netflix on May 24th 2019, she’s back at it again, this time as Charlotte a former music prodigy who gave up her dreams at becoming the best to take care of her sick mother. She hatches a sinister plan when she discovers Lizzie has taken her place as the top star in the music world. The trailer for this movie prompted one Twitter user to ask Allison Williams how many Black people is she going to kill in her movies? So being that I had the chance to sit down with Allison, and Logan Browning who plays Lizzie I decided to let her know what people were saying about her. Allison replied, “Yes, we knew when the trailer came out that that would be the reaction. I knew that was going to happen but that’s ok. It’s ok if you go into the movie thinking that.” Allison also opened up about Black men’s reaction to her after seeing Get Out and she said she ends up coming across a lot of people who ask for a picture with her while she is holding a set of keys. She does mention that she’s lucky that people can separate her from the character but it just takes a minute for them to loosen up. The ladies also opened up about how the script was a page-turner with Logan saying she couldn’t put it down, while addressing how the movie is multiple genres in one film. Check out this week’s episode of Extra Butter with Xilla Valentine and be sure to watch The Perfection on Netflix May 24th.
