Ranking the Celebrity Directors of Lifetime’s Five: Is Demi Moore a Budding Kathryn Bigelow?

On Monday, the Lifetime Network aired Five , a quintet of interlocking cancer stories all directed by one of five famous women (Jennifer Aniston, Alicia Keys, Demi Moore, Penelope Spheeris, and Patty Jenkins), to bring attention to Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Here at Movieline, we see the two-hour special for what it really is: an opportunity to rank Jennifer Aniston against Demi Moore and see who comes out on top. Which lady director handled her sensitive material best? Did Aniston topple established veterans Spheeris and Jenkins? Does G.I. Jane prevail? Doesn’t she always ? Let’s rank them No. 5 to No. 1 after the jump.

Bad Movies We Love: Australia

Real Steel calls upon Hugh Jackman’s ability to tame and train robots, but this isn’t his first time at the robo-dome. He first conquered a borg named Nicole Kidman in Baz Luhrmann’s failed epic Australia . Ha! Now, now, that’s the first and last Nicole Kidman joke you’ll hear from me because 1) Nicole Kidman is awesome, 2) Rabbit Hole is under-appreciated, and 3) BORGS ARE VINDICTIVE. Let’s reinspect the joys of this looooong movie without ever caring about the story!

Jordana Brewster on Fast Five, Maturing Onscreen and the Chance of a Sixth Fast & Furious Film

Last week, Movieline spoke with with Fast Five star Tyrese Gibson to get the male perspective on being part of such a lucrative, testosterone-driven franchise. Eager to get another take, we reached out to Jordana Brewster, who has played the sole heroine of the car heist series since day one. The Yale graduate eagerly discussed her growing role in Fast Five (which is released on DVD and Blu-ray this week), a potential sixth installment and her own meager knowledge of automobiles.

LISTEN: Irate Viewer Leaves Death Threat For Director of Worst Movie EVER!

It’s been a while since we checked in with the team behind The Worst Movie EVER ! — which is to say with Glenn Berggoetz, the actor/filmmaker/no-budget impresario whose gonzo epic set a record for box-office futility with an $11 opening . Things have been mostly looking up since then: There was a relatively well-received screening down in Virginia, and, according to Berggoetz, exhibition interest everywhere from a domestic TV syndicate to Brazil, Japan and beyond. But! There have been bumps along the road as well — ugly, anonymous, death-threatening bumps.

The 9 Most Scathing Critical Responses to Abduction

It’s here! And… it stinks. In fact, the Taylor Lautner action “thriller” Abduction was rocking that all-too-rare, Bucky Larson -esque 0-percent Rotten Tomatoes ranking (“Its Tomato score got abducted!”, a witty reader advised me last night) Thursday night before a couple so-and-so’s from a recklessly forgiving enterprise called “Urban Cinefile” give it a thumbs-up. But there remains plenty of bile to drizzle over your breakfast — and the likes of Roger Ebert haven’t even chimed in yet. In Movieline’s grand, Friday-morning tradition , let’s have a taste!
