Alex Karev is the interim Chief of Grey Sloan Memorial, and he’s messing everything up. Thursday’s episode of Grey’s Anatomy chronicled the manchild’s first day on the job, and it did not bode well for his future at the hospital. Allow us to explain… Alex was on a high with his promotion and set out to approve just about everything anyone asked of him. The most ridiculous thing he approved was a 3D printer that allowed Link to change the color of prosthetic limbs. While $500 per colored prosthetic sounds semi-reasonable, the hospital needed the 3D printer that would cost $65,000 to order in. By the end of the day, Alex was in a tense standoff with Bailey who wanted to know why he was approving everything on his first day. That’s when Alex showed his cards, revealing the biggest blunder of his entire career. According to him, he was still below budget for the month. After Bailey looked at his figures, it became glaringly obvious he was looking at the figures for the quarter and not the month. Alex had spent the hospital’s budget for the entire quarter. Yikes. But Alex did make a good decision. Who would have thought it? Vik, who blackmailed Bailey and the hospital to get his job back at the end of last season, finally got his comeuppance. He failed to recognize that a man with a nosebleed was about to die. “I need an attending!” he yelled upon realizing he messed up. The patient died in the operating room, and Vik refused to take responsibility. I’m just an intern,” Vik cried. “This isn’t on me.” He didn’t want to call the time of death, so he rushed off into a room with Nico showing off his abs to Levi. Alex followed Vik and decided to fire him on the spot. He had it coming, you guys! The medical mystery on Thursday’s installment revolved around a school teacher who fell asleep while operating a saw. It resulted in multiple students being rushed into the O.R., and Webber took action when Levi said there was a high alcohol level in the blood. “The more sober he gets,” Richard said, “the worse he’s going to feel.” The teacher was against the notion that he got drunk in the classroom, and Webber seemed to think the man was trying his best to deflect the situation. Alex ultimately had to remove Webber from the room … maybe because there was a lawsuit on the horizon if he was wrong. However, Webber persisted and brought some vodka to the man as he was recovering. The next thing we knew, the man was supposedly drunk again. Thankfully, Webber did not give the man the drink and confirmed he had a rare condition that meant the sugar in his body would make him drunk. Crisis averted then, right? Elsewhere, Maggie was trying to set Amelia up with anybody she could, presumably to soften the blow of Teddy’s pregnancy when it is revealed. Amelia took notice of it and asked her to stop because she was no longer on the market. Okay then. What Maggie failed to realize was that she might be back on the market. Jackson sent an email into the hospital taking a leave of absence. This was news to Maggie who was visibly annoyed. Jackson was having a crisis of faith, but he could at least let her know what was going on with him. Teen Mom OG returned to the air on October 1, with one very obvious change: Farrah Abraham is no longer a cast member. She was fired in February and replaced by two additions: Bristol Palin and Cheyenne Floyd. How did the Season 8 premiere fare without this controversial reality star on board? Below, we relay the opening ratings and then we share Abraham's calm, cool and collected reaction to how the program is doing thus far without her polarizing presence… 1. The New Cast Here they are: Amber, Maci, Catelynn, Cheyenne and Bristol. MTV is banking on this quintet to draw in the ratings for Season 8. 2. Was the Premiere a Hit? Based on buzz, maybe. The Internet wrote a lot about Bristol and her marital problems. Based on ratings, however? Well… 3. Under a Million Viewers Tuned In According to Ratings by the Numbers, the Season 8 premiere drew in 957,000 viewers for its original airing at 9/8c on Monday, October 1. 4. Can We Compare This to The Season 7 Premiere? Of course. On November 27, 2017 — a premiere that featured Abraham in all her Farrah glory – 1.319 million viewers were viewing MTV to see what these women were up to. 5. As for the Season 7 Finale? That episode garnered 1.098 million viewers, meaning there was a pretty significant drop-off from those who were curious to see what Farrah was doing to those who tuned in for the debut of Bristol and Chyenne. 6. Was This Really a Reflection of Farrah Getting Fired? We mean… perhaps. There’s no real way of knowing. But ratings across the board have been dropping on television as streaming services take off, viewers have more options and the use of DVR explodes. View Slideshow
Bristol Palin was a literal teen mom about 10 years ago. But the daughter of ex-Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin is now a Teen Mom is the more figurative and professional sense, making a living as one of two new cast members on Teen Mom OG. It’s pretty darn weird when you think about it. Or not just when you think about it. When you actually experience it and work alongside Palin, according to Tyler Baltierra . For Bristol, meanwhile, it was pretty darn weird to walk right onto a show that had been airing for seven seasons already — and on which everyone was pretty close and familiar. “I was like, this is their job, they’ve been doing this for so long,” Palin said on Monday’s Teen Mom OG premiere aftershow.. “I hope they like me.” She may have also had this fear because, let’s face it, plenty of people out there do not like Bristol or her famous mother. Bristol and Chyenne Floyd were both added to Teen Mom OG in the wake of Farrah Abraham being let go by MTV. After plenty of back and forth with the controversial star, executives decided in February that it could no longer be associated with someone who did amateur pornography, basically. “We didn’t want to step on toes, I think,” Floyd said of how she and Palin felt upon meeting the other OGs and starting to film by their side. Catelynn Lowell, who also appeared on the after-show, thought back to the first time she met the new cast members, saying on air: “We were doing a promo shoot. I think the production and everything made it was more awkward.” Bristol agreed, chiming in as follows: “So awkward!” And Floyd also agreed! “We hugged, and it was probably the most awkward hug ever. It was so awkward,” she said of meeting Palin. Also awkward for Floyd? Some of the backlash she has received for not actually being a teen mom. Not now. Not ever. (Floyd shares one-year-old daughter Ryder with Cory Wharton; they welcomed their daughter whe Chyenne was 23 years old.) But this is what Chyenne said on the topic last month : “I think that a lot of people are stuck on the word and at the end of the day I’m still young mom. I still have the same struggles and I’m still learning just like everyone else. I don’t think 23 is the ideal age to have a baby. She was unplanned, so in other ways, other than me not being a teen, I have different things that you can relate. “So instead of me screaming all day long that I’m not a teen mom, I’d rather just talk about things that I am.” For a look at how the veteran OGs feel about these newbies, click below: View Slideshow: Teen Mom OGs Dish on Newbies: What Do They Think of Bristol and Cheyenne?

This NOT just in: David Eason hates gay people. The husband of Jenelle Evans was fired by MTV several months ago for so often sharing this viewpoint, not that his dismissal caused Eason to reconsider his opinion or keep his social media mouth shut or anything of that nature. Quite the opposite, in fact. The polarizing personality has said recently that he's proud to be a straight white redneck and that, of course, gay people suck . What about transgender individuals? Eason expresses his close-minded and very ignorant take on them below… 1. Eason Has Been Ranting About Gay People for Awhile Dude is obsessed with the topic, bringing it up out of nowhere at times. Back in February, in response to a discussion online about parenting methods, he said to an Internet user: “Why don’t you go tell the homo and transgender parents to start teaching their kids better morals? Oh I forgot that’s supposed to be normal.” 2. You’re Fired! This was merely the latest example of Eason being a horrible bigot, which led to MTV firing him a few days later and releasing this statement: “David Eason’s personal comments do not reflect the views of MTV. With six weeks left of production on Teen Mom 2, effective immediately, we are ending our relationship with him.” 3. So… Why are We Still Talking About Him? Because he’s still married to Jenelle and because he keeps saying such terrible stuff. Just consider his latest ranting, raving and insulting on Facebook… 4. It Started with This Meme We assume the first photo here, as shared by Eason, is a reference to the ongoing controversy over whether or not Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh sexually assaulted women back in the early 1980s… while the second is a reference to many people out there being in favor of transgender individuals using whichever restroom with which they identify. 5. … And He’s Off As you might expect, this meme generated many comments from users and many, many ridiculous comments from Eason. 6. Being Transgender is Not Okay, Eason Has Always Argued View Slideshow

Prairie View A&M defeated Grambling State 22-16 in the 93 rd State Fair Classic at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas Saturday night, signaling that a changing of the guard in the SWAC Western Division could be at hand. The Panthers (3-3, 2-0 SWAC) led from wire to wire en route to ending the two-time defending SWAC champion G-Men’s 26-game conference winning streak and beating them for the first time since 2013. Prairie View won even though Grambling (1-3, 1-1 SWAC) held the Panthers’ two most explosive weapons in check relatively well. Quarterback Jalen Morton completed 23 of 34 passes for 269 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for 62 more yards. But that was a sub-par performance for him compared to the 511 yards – which included a school record 255-yard rushing effort – and six touchdowns that he accounted for last week. Running back Dewonya Tucker, the leading rusher in all of Division I football, ran the ball 19 times for 72 yards. The Panthers compensated for their offensive unit’s lack of fireworks with a stifling defensive effort. They held the G-Men without a touchdown until the fourth quarter; they harassed Grambling quarterbacks the entire time, registering 10 sacks with defensive end Willie Green accounting for three, and they held the G-Men to 42 rushing yards on 32 attempts. Grambling had 278 yards total offense and only averaged 3.3 yards a play. Grambling’s only points through the first three quarters came on a safety when the G-Men tackled Tucker in the end zone for a one-yard loss and a safety late in the second quarter. Prairie View led 15-2 at the half on the strength of Morton’s first-quarter touchdown passes of 38-yards to Markcus Hardy and 80 yards to Tucker and Zach Elder’ s 43-yard field goal in the second quarter. The Panthers’ final points came on four-yard touchdown pass from Morton to Zarian Holcomb in the third quarter. Backup quarterback Geremy Hickbottom breathed life into Grambling’s offense when he entered the game in the fourth quarter. Hickbottom led the G-Men to a pair of touchdowns, and they recovered an onside kick following their second touchdown. But Panthers cornerback quashed their comeback hopes when cornerback Ju’Anthony Parke r came up with an interception with 1:42 remaining to seal the win. KEY RESULTS North Carolina A&T State 31, South Carolina State 16 – The Aggies regained their mojo after having their 15 game winning streak snapped in Week 4 with a home MEAC victory Thursday night. It wasn’t easy though. North Carolina A&T (3-1, 1-0 MEAC) had to overcome a 16-3 first half deficit – reeling off 28 unanswered points after starting the game in sloppy fashion. The Aggies pounded South Carolina State into submission with their running game. They generated 208 of their 311 rushing yards in the second half. Running backs Marquell Cartwright and Jah-Maine Martin combined to hammer the winless Bulldogs (0-4, 0-1 MEAC) for 249 yards. Cartwright, the leading rusher in the MEAC with 456 yards, topped the 100-yard mark for the second time in three games with 157 yards. Martin chipped in with 92. Martin got the Aggies’ offense in gear with a 40-yard touchdown run late in the second quarter that cut South Carolina State’s lead to 16-10 at the half. Quarterback Lamar Raynard brought the passing game to the party in the second half with three touchdown passes. Raynard ended the game with 253 yards through the air while improving his record to 29-1 as the Aggies’ starter. Morehouse 23, Kentucky State 21 – The Maroon Tigers used some second half magic for the second consecutive week as they came from behind to claim a road win that keeps them unbeaten. Morehouse (5-0, 1-0)) rallied from a 14-0 first-quarter deficit against Kentucky State (0-5, 0-2 SAIC) after coming from behind to beat Miles 23-21 on the final play a week ago. The Maroon Tigers’ 5-0 record gives them their best start since 2010 when they reached the Division II playoffs. Quarterback Jules St. Ge staked the Thorobreds to a 14-0 lead with touchdown passes of four and 24 yards to Demetrius Anderson and Jordan Level, respectively. Morehouse chipped away at the lead. Santo Dunn scored on a seven-yard run that capped an 18-play, 80-yard drive that took 8 minutes, 41 seconds off the clock. Fernando Sdelamora booted a 36-yard field goal to make the score 14-10 at the half. The Maroon Tigers went ahead 16-10 in the third quarter when Dunn scored his second touchdown on a one-yard run, and they extended the lead to 23-14 on quarterback Michael Sims’ 15-yard touchdown pass to tight end Ryan Edwards. The Thorbreds made the game interesting when Malik Saunders scored on a seven-yard touchdown run with 4:32 remaining in the game. Alcorn State 20, Southern 3 – The Braves were unwelcome guests as they spoiled the Jaguars’ Homecoming by defeating their SWAC rivals for the third consecutive year. Alcorn (3-2, 2-0 SWAC) won the contest in workmanlike fashion. They held Southern (2-3, 1-1 SWAC) to 139 total yards – 63 rushing and 76 passing – while pounding the Jaguars with a running game that produced 243 yards as four difference ball carriers gaining at least 50 yards. Quarterback Noah Johnson led Alcorn runners with 81 yards. Alcorn got a pair of field goals from Corey McCullough, a one-yard touchdown run by De’Shawn Waller and a 36-yard interception return for a touchdown by Qwynterrrio Cole for its points. Southern avoided being shutout when M Fontenot kicked a 28-yard field goal in the third quarter. W henever Lindsay Lohan is trending on social media, you know it can’t be for something good. The actress posted a series of videos of her harassing a refugee family in Russia who she believed to be part of child-trafficking. It appears she tried to take the children and ended up with a punch in the face from the mother. See Also: Bill Cosby Sentenced To 3 To 10 Years In Prison For Sexual Assault Conviction According to The Express Tribune , Lohan posted on now deleted Instagram videos, “Hey everyone, I just want to show you a family that I met, a Syrian refugee family that I’m really worried about. They really need help.” With the strangest accent, she says in Arabic and English, addressing what appears to be a child, “You want to come with me? Come with me. I’ll take care of you guys,” she can be heard saying in Arabic and English. “Do you want to stay in a hotel tonight? Do you want to watch movies? It would be so cool to watch a movie on a TV or a computer.” She continues, “You should not have them [your sons] on the floor, you should be a hard-working woman and you should be doing what you [can] for your children, so they have a better life. If someone is offering them a home and a bed, which is me at the moment, give it to them. They will come back to you. I won’t leave until I take you. Now I know who you are. Don’t f*** with me.” She then follows the family, accusing them of trafficking children and says, “You’re ruining Arabic culture by doing this.” The mother then punches her in the face. N early a month after legendary songstress Aretha Franklin was laid to rest, the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History is paying homage to the Queen of Soul in a special way. The Detroit-based institution recently opened a new exhibit that captures Franklin’s life journey and highlights her contributions to music, Rolling Stone reported. An Aretha Franklin exhibit, “Think: A Tribute to the Queen of Soul,” will open this week at a Detroit museum https://t.co/o6rt2AumEQ — Rolling Stone (@RollingStone) September 23, 2018 The exhibit—dubbed “Think: A Tribute to the Queen of Soul”—opened on Tuesday, the news outlet writes. It features Franklin’s personal items; including ensembles from her wardrobe and copies of some of her first recordings. The exhibit also includes video footage and photos that capture pivotal moments in the singer’s career. Each item featured in the exhibit illustrates Franklin’s impact and influence in the realm of music and how she used her artistry to evoke social and political change. Amongst the items included are her 1956 vinyl recording of the song “Never Grow Old” and the red outfit she wore during her public viewing. The items will be rotated throughout the course of the exhibition. The exhibition was supported by Franklin’s estate. “The Aretha mojo lives,” museum board member Kelly Major Green told the Detroit Free Press . “It’s a beautiful tribute. We want to learn and see some things that are more intimate and touching about her. This personalizes her in a little different way.” The exhibit will be on display through January 21, 2019. The singer’s estate is reportedly working on creating a more permanent exhibit that is slated to open in 2020. There isn’t any word on where that project will be housed. Source: Getty / Getty Everyone loves a bit of 90’s nostalgia — especially when it’s expressed through fashion. Project Runway All Star Helen Castillo has a deep love for both fashion and the 90’s , so who would be a better fit than her to give a legendary trio like the Blue Man Group a makeover. Helen took her love of fashion from the beloved era and blended it with the Group’s mission to “dare to live in full color” and created a limited edition unisex jumpsuit which she unveiled during New York Fashion Week. Source: Getty / Getty We spoke to Helen about her unexpected collaboration and she revealed , “After seeing Blue Man Group live in New York City, I was inspired by and particularly drawn to the overall aesthetic of the theatre and the industrial elements of the stage. Of course, Blue Man Group is an iconic part of New York City’s performance art history and a household name I grew up with. All of this, coupled with how the Blue Man Group originated in the 90’s, which is trending right now in fashion, felt like the perfect time to collaborate together on a limited edition, unisex garment.” Source: Getty / Getty But why a jumpsuit, you ask? Helen continued , “I knew I wanted the garment to be unisex, utilitarian and to create a sort of unity between the Blue Man Group and the audience. I love that with this Blue Man Group-inspired jumpsuit, I am helping to give fans a tangible piece of the show experience and a nod to 90’s trends with the color blocking of the collar, tuxedo stripe and pocket flaps. I’ve also wanted to dabble in menswear and have been recently researching more tailoring techniques, so this was the perfect opportunity to create a unisex piece that was not only trendy but iconic yet fresh and familiar. The limited edition Blue Man Group-inspired jumpsuit will be available online on my website, designerhelen.com, beginning in September!” Source: Getty / Getty What’s even more exciting than designing something for the iconic group? Being the one to break their NYFW hiatus. Helen added, “ This is also the first time in 27 years that Blue Man Group is participating in Fashion Week and they will be attending my show on September 9th.” Oh, and if you haven’t seen the Blue Men live yet — what are you waiting for? Helen says her favorite part of the show is when “ the Blue Men grab an audience member, dress them in a coverall jumpsuit, and swing them against a canvas after being covered in paint. It’s so unexpected and served as the inspiration for my limited edition garment. I created a coverall jumpsuit sourced from lightweight cotton canvas material to embody the literal canvas of the performance piece and then added hints of the iconic Blue Men blue for details on my design. The idea of integrating an audience member into their performance and dressing him to be part of their ‘Group’ inspired me to make a piece that would almost leave a lasting mark as a ‘uniform’ for both the Blue Man Group and the audience to have a connection outside of the show. ” Head over to designerhelen.com to check out the exclusive piece.
