SplashNews Lizzo Is A Rockstar We All Should Know And Love We were over the moon to see one of our favorite “newer” artists, Lizzo , on the cover of the music issue of Teen Vogue. We love Lizzo because she’s super original, free spirited, fine as hell, with a bomb singing voice and dope raps… Inside the issue, Lizzo talks a lot about the body positivity she’s become famous for, as well as her thoughts on why it’s taken the industry THIS long to catch on to how amazing she is? Peep some excerpts: On Not Being Claimed “When I was in high school, I was a big girl with a cute face. So dudes liked me secretly, but they didn’t like me publicly. I never had a boyfriend because they didn’t want to claim me,” Lizzo says. “So now in this industry, I’m a big girl with a cute face and some cute music and I’m still being liked secretly and not claimed publicly.” On Her Struggle To Be Recognized “[People] will be like, ‘Lizzo’s my favorite new artist…why am I late for the Lizzo train?’” she says, growing serious. “You’re late, honey, but it’s not your fault. You’re late because I’m just at the back of the shelf. But I’m glad you’re here because you worked to find this.” On Learning To Embrace Herself “I didn’t love myself until I was 21,” she reveals. “Twenty-one was the worst year of my life.” She says that hitting rock bottom and “crawling out of the tunnel” helped to inform the Lizzo we know today, and she says the experience was intrinsically unfair. “Everyone shouldn’t have to hit rock bottom to love themselves,” she says. “That’s just the society we’re all unfortunately born in — the one where you have to hit your worst and hate yourself in order to love yourself? Those laws only exist because self-hate is so prevalent. Body positivity only exists because body negativity is the norm.” On Body Positivity “It’s bizarre to me that what I’m saying and doing is revolutionary, because it should be so innate and first-nature. Not even second-nature,” she says. “We should love ourselves first. We should look at our bodies as vehicles for success, and not a signifier of who you are, how good your pussy is, if dudes like you or not, or if you can fit certain clothes…that’s not what your body’s for.” On Gender/Sexuality “When it comes to sexuality or gender, I personally don’t ascribe to just one thing. I cannot sit here right now and tell you I’m just one thing,” she says. “That’s why the colors for LGBTQ+ are a rainbow! Because there’s a spectrum and right now we try to keep it black and white. That’s just not working for me.” Hit The Flip For More Lizzo
Source: Johnny Nunez / Getty Jay Rock has not enjoyed the same level of fanfare in comparison with his Top Dawg Entertainment labelmates, but his third studio album should change things greatly for him. The Watts MC steps up to the plate with Redemption , featuring Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, Future, and more. Redemption features production from Mike WilLL Made It, Hit-Boy, Boi-1Da, Sounwave, Jake One and more. The album opens with “The Bloodiest” and shows Rock in top form with his signature aggressive style. Rock taps Brent Faiyaz for vocal assistance on “For What It’s Worth” and Hykeem Cater gives Rock a heater of a track for “Knock It Off” that serves as one of the album’s early highlights. Pops and Crooklin provide the backdrop for “OSOM” featuring J. Cole. Rock goes into autobiographical mode while sharing his rise to fame while struggling with his ties to the streets. Cole gives another one of his solid performances, mirroring Rock’s somber tale of battling with the pressures of being a rap star. The album’s second single, “Win” closes out the album on a stong note on a record with several high marks. Check out the stream of Redemption below. — Photo: Getty

Source: Stephen J. Cohen / Getty Usher has been sharing his talents with the world for over 20 years now and as a child of 90s R&B, it’s no surprise he’s bumped shoulders with some sitcom favorites. Countess Vaughn is one person who’s bumped heads with Usher, but in a good way. The actress and singer, best known for playing Kim Parker on Moesha and The Parkers , appeared on the late show Vibe back in the late 90s and Usher happened to be visiting at the same time. With two talented singers in one room, a small battle ensued that got the crowd hype. Check it out below! You can barely understand what they’re saying…but sang that! Sophia Bush has been divorced from Chad Michael Murray for well over a decade. The former One Tree Hill co-stars got married in April of 2005 and split up just five months later, shattering the hopes and dreams of all who watched and adored their WB drama. This all played out a very long time ago, yet Bush stopped by Andy Cohen’s Sirius XM radio show this week and dredged up the ancient and awkward past. In an interview with the Bravo executive, Bush actually said she didn’t even marry Murray out of love. She agreed to the legal union due to pressure from those associated with One Tree Hill. “It was like the second season, but everyone’s been 22 and stupid,” Bush said of the relationship, adding that marriage “was not a thing I actually really wanted to do” and later explaining: “Ladies have to learn how to take up space in the way that men are taught that they are entitled to.” Interesting, huh? And very layered and sort of vague and confusing, right? “If you didn’t want to get married, how do you get to the point of being talked into it?” asked Cohen. “How do you let everybody down?” the actress responded, continuing: “And how do you – what’s the fight and when you have bosses telling you that you’re the only person who gets a person to work on time and 200 people either get to see their kids at night or they don’t because our days start on time?” So… Bush was talked into being with Murray because she could control him on set? “Life is always loaded,” she told Cohen. “What the public knows ever is never – it’s not the tip of the iceberg. “Hilarie [Burton] and I used to laugh and we were like, ‘If we had a behind-the-scenes show, the drama would be so much f-cking better than the drama that the writers write.'” Shortly after her interview with viral, Bush tried to walk back her apparent criticism of Murray. She Tweeted that she was making fun of herself, not her former co-star and husband. “When you’re taking the piss out of yourself – b/c people can’t let the past go & you really wish they would – & gossip rags try to turn it into inappropriate drama rather than self-deprication,” she wrote. “Don’t twist people’s words, y’all. If it wasn’t clear, I was making fun of MYSELF.” Murray, however, was among those who took offense to Bush bringing up their marriage all this time later. Especially when she did absolutely say that the romance had as much to do with her professional obligations as how she actually felt about Murray. “This story is ludicrous,” a rep for the actor said in a response statement, adding: “Chad conducts himself in a completely professional manner and would never marry for any reason but love. “Thirteen years since his divorce from Sophia, he has a very happy family life with his wife and children. “He has completely moved on and doesn’t feel the need to engage in this type of behavior.” View Slideshow: 19 Best Shows in CW History: Ranked!
We've all been there, right? We're attending a country music festival. We've had our share of alcohol beverages. And we see a pickup truck. The pickup truck, naturally, has an exhaust pipe coming out of its rear. And we think to ourselves… hey, I think my head could fit safely into that exhaust pipe and then I could pull it back out with ease ! No? We haven't all been there? Only Kaitlin Strom, the woman featured in the following video has been there? That's sort of what we figured. In a Facebook video that has been viewed nearly three million times, this 19-year old is sitting on the ground at the Winstock Music Festival with her head inside of an oversized diesel exhaust pipe. The brief snippet below features emergency crews preparing to use a power saw to cut her free. How did she end up in this situation? “We were just all having fun and I saw this big exhaust pipe and I was like, ‘Hey, my head could probably fit in that, so I tried it. It did fit, but it didn’t want to come back out,” Strom explained to the Hutchinson Leader. Strom went on to say she was trapped in this pipe for about 45 minutes, which seems like an extremely long time to have one's head trapped inside of an exhaust pipe. The teenager simply tried to remain calm before the fire department was able to finally get her out. That was the good news… the bad news is that she was cited by the police department for underage drinking. How much did she imbibe? Strom would not say. But she did clearly take a bit of pride in her viral act, based on the Facebook photo and caption above. As for what it looks like when a grown woman gets her head stuck in an exhaust pipe?
