Black 4-Year-Olds Tied Up By Preschool Teachers In Georgia

See the original post here:

T wo Black 4-year-old girls were allegedly tied up by their preschool teachers in Decatur, Georgia, last week, and one of the children’s mothers said her daughter has not been her usual self since. SEE ALSO: Texas Cop Shoots Unarmed Black Man For Entering His Own Truck The two female teachers were “accused of zip-tying the children’s hands behind their backs as a form of punishment” on Sept. 24,  WSB-TV reported. The teachers resigned on Friday. The students claimed the teachers “threatened to throw spiders on them if they didn’t stop acting up,” the report continued. Tyisha Fernandes , one of the girls’ mothers, claimed her daughter “said, ‘mommy, I was scared to tell you because I thought I was going to get in trouble.’” The principal of Oak View Elementary in DeKalb County sent a letter to parents two days after the alleged incident. “This letter is written to make you aware of an incident that occurred at our school last week,”  Sabrina Pressley wrote in part. “The incident took place in one of our pre-k classrooms. A parent brought it to our attention on Tuesday.” The letter confirmed the teachers were under investigation and have been removed as staff members, conflicting with earlier reports of their resignations. “The safety and security of our children continues to be one of our main priorities,” the letter concluded. “We sincerely thank you for helping us in this endeavor.” Hopefully, the names of these teachers will be made public and they will never teach again. No child should be treated like this in America or anywhere else in the world. Cop Who Killed LaQuan McDonald Not Racist, Ex-Officer’s Black ‘Brother’ Says

See the article here:

T he white Chicago ex-police officer who killed LaQuan McDonald , a Black teen, in a hail of 16 bullets is not a racist, according to the former cop’s African-American in-law. He’s speaking out for the first time on behalf of Jason Van Dyke , who’s standing trial in a Cook County courtroom for the first-degree murder of McDonald. It appears to many observers that his statement is a sign of desperation. SEE ALSO: Cop Who Killed Laquan McDonald Crying Fake Tears As Trial Nears, Black Teen’s Family Says Keith Thompson , who is married to the sister of Van Dyke’s wife, said the family had been silent at the former officer’s request because Van Dyke was concerned about their safety, the Chicago Sun-Times reported. “We may be a biracial family, but we are a blended family, a close family. Although I’m an only child, this guy has become my brother, the only one I’ve ever had,” said 35-year-old Thompson, who also called Van Dyke his “best friend.” Still, it’s hard for many to understand some other explanation for Van Dyke’s indifference to shooting the Black teenager 16 times—continuing to fire even while he was on the ground dying. SNEED: The black brother-in-law of Jason Van Dyke weighs in with his thoughts on the Chicago cop's murder trial. https://t.co/LXB4kz6sm5 — Chicago Sun-Times (@Suntimes) September 27, 2018 Van Dyke fatally shot McDonald in 2014, and cops released the shooting video in 2015, only after a court order. The video and the circumstances surrounding its release ignited massive angry protests. Chicago Police Department officials faced allegations of covering up the shooting, with its account contradicting what dashboard camera video showed—McDonald trying to walk away from Van Dyke when the cop opened fire. “When Jay was first charged four years ago, I did not believe for one second this was a racial incident. No how. No way. I never believed this was about color. I never believed what happened was motivated by racism because Jay is not that kind of guy,” Thompson said. But Thompson’s comments didn’t seem to persuade folks who shared their thoughts on social media. Why did he need to be shot 16 times?I mean, once he's down, what's really the point. I hope this point is not glossed over. — Harold J. Mosley Jr. (@RogueSentient) September 27, 2018 No , it’s not important- Jason Van Dyke’s – I believe I heard he was “black “ brother in law or cousin in law – he properly didn’t like him either , he just had no choice of whom his relative chose to love : He’s just a pond being used now & what does this have to do with 16 shot — beverly West (@bsbwesdone) September 27, 2018 SEE ALSO: Bill Cosby Called ‘Serial Rapist’ As Walk Of Fame Star Is Vandalized, Again Botham Jean’s Family Sues The City Of Dallas [ione_media_gallery src=”https://newsone.com” id=”3828001″ overlay=”true”]

A no-nonsense mom urged her daughter to keep her “head high” after restaurant customers reportedly wrote a racist note to the waitress. SEE ALSO: ‘Not Race, Just American:’ Black Waitress Gets Inspiring Note Regina Boone posted a photograph on Facebook of the note, which said “We don’t tip Black people,” scribbled on a napkin that her daughter received while working at an Applebee’s in Radcliff, Kentucky, News-Enterprise reported on Friday. “I wish!!! I would ever be present when someone disrespects my child! I don’t accept or tolerate disrespect! I’m furious but I know there’s a God in Heaven who sits high and looks low!” Boone, an elementary school teacher, posted . “Take a look in the mirror. Are you strong enough to stand against it (racism)? I AM AND ALWAYS WILL BE! My beautiful child, I got you! Always will! Hold your head HIGH and ALWAYS be proud of who you are!” And this is #TrumpsAmerica https://t.co/eafLssJP26 — Tanisha Hammond (@Teebaby77) September 30, 2018 Jasmine Brewer recalled that the group of customers was standoffish, but she provided everything they needed. “If they needed something, I got it. I didn’t realize I was the problem the whole time,” she said. For the rest of the night, Brewer was anxious about serving other tables and was conscious of her race. “It makes you look at yourself differently,” she added. Her mother also posted the note because she wanted to raise awareness that racism continues to be a problem across the nation. “We’re not able to stop racism if people think it doesn’t exist,” she stated, underscoring that education is the solution. Brewer, a mother of three children, hopes that her kids don’t have to face bigotry. “I want (racism) to be gone by the time my kids get older,” she stated. News about the racist note inspired folks to contribute unsolicited tips to Brewer totaling more than $150. Sunken Place Black Fox News Contributor Is Fired After Trashing Kavanaugh’s Accusers

See the article here:

L eave it to Fox News to always lower the bar of decency when it comes to their so-called political commentary. When discussing  Brett Kavanaugh ‘s accusers, Kevin Jackson, a Black Fox News contributor, referred to them as “lying skanks.” See Also: Bill Cosby Sentenced To 3 To 10 Years In Prison For Sexual Assault Conviction In a a tweet, Jackson wrote, “Feminists are their own worst enemies, and enemy of women. Also, they want men to NEVER be believed. I’m not succumbing. TO HELL with the notion that women must be believed no matter what. Lying skanks is what these 3 women are, and we ALL know more.” See below: I disagree. Feminists are their own worst enemies, and enemy of women. Also, they want men to NEVER be believed. I'm not succumbing. TO HELL with the notion that women must be believed no matter what. Lying skanks is what these 3 women are, and we ALL know more #TeamKJ https://t.co/qGVJLTv6QI — Kevin Jackson (@KevinJacksonTBS) September 27, 2018 When someone called him out for offensive language, he responded on Twitter with, “That’s my attitude toward liars of any gender.” That's my attitude towards LIARS OF ANY GENDER https://t.co/dsOoyhjSf5 — Kevin Jackson (@KevinJacksonTBS) September 27, 2018 Hours later, Jackson was fired from Fox News. The company wrote in a statement , “His comments on today’s hearings were reprehensible and do not reflect the values of Fox News.” You have to be soulless to not think  Dr. Christine Blasey Ford  isn’t credible. Even Republicans avoided attacking her. At the start of Ford’s testimony, she said, “I am here today not because I want to be. I am terrified. I am here because I believe it is my civic duty to tell you what happened to me while Brett Kavanaugh and I were in high school.” She claimed in the summer of 1982 Kavanaugh and his friend, Mark Judge , locked her in a bedroom. Kavanugh then “got on top” of her, covered her mouth and began “grinding his hips” on her. She managed to escape and never mentioned the alleged assault to anyone. Tarana Burke, Kamala Harris: Black Women Take A Stand At Kavanaugh Hearing

Read the rest here:

T hursday’s Senate confirmation hearing involving Christine Blasey Ford and Supreme Court nominee  Brett Kavanaugh provided the latest opportunity for Black women to stand up against sexual assault. RELATED: What You Need To Know About Ford And Kavanaugh’s Senate Testimonies Dozens of Black women demonstrated against Kavanaugh  — the object of Trump’s undying devotion — outside of the Senate building where both Ford and the nominee offered testimonies. Black women also went in on Kavanaugh inside the Senate building. Tarana Burke , the MeToo movement founder, was front and center during Ford’s testimony. These men are wholly uninterested and unmoved by this woman’s words…Dr. Ford has to talk about the worst trauma of her life in front of them. This is the reality of being survivor of sexual assault in this country. #WeBelieveDrFord #WeBelieveSurvivors #metooMVMT pic.twitter.com/WtLLG06okI — Tarana (@TaranaBurke) September 27, 2018 “These men are wholly uninterested and unmoved by this woman’s words…Dr. Ford has to talk about the worst trauma of her life in front of them. This is the reality of being survivor of sexual assault in this country,” Burke tweeted from the Senate hearing. Listening to this women’s voice shake as she pushes through this moment…my heart. #WeBelieveDrFord #WeBelieveSurvivors #metooMVMT — Tarana (@TaranaBurke) September 27, 2018 “This is not a trial for Dr. Ford. It’s a job interview for Judge Kavanaugh. Is this the best we can do…” Yes, @SenFeinstein — Tarana (@TaranaBurke) September 27, 2018 Of course, California Sen.  Kamala Harris , who has also been outspoken in opposing Kavanaugh, had some strong statements to deliver during the hearing. She affirmed and defended Ford, who was relentlessly questioned about her story of sexual assault against Kavanaugh. “You are not on trial,” Harris said, knowing that Republican senators were skeptical about the college professor’s character, not just her account. “You are sitting here before members of the United States Senate Judiciary Committee because you had the courage to come forward [and], as you have said, you believe it was your civic duty.” Another Black woman also had a moment during the Ford-Kavanaugh hearing: Anita Hill . Senator Dianne Feinstein , the top Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee, referenced Hill during her opening statement. She recalled a 1991 trip to the airport in which saw a crowd watching Hill’s sexual assault testimony about then-Supreme Court nominee Clarence Thomas . She used Hill to make a powerful point. “How women are treated in the United States, with this kind of concern, is really wanting a lot of reform,” Feinstein said. Black women clearly communicated their viewpoints on Kavanaugh, and they showed no sign of backing down. What It’s Like Competing To Work For T.I., According To Grand Hustler Yonathan Elias

Source: Marc-Anthony Lewis / Marc-Anthony Lewis Yonathan Elias has a master’s degree, but when T.I.’s sons sent him on a mission to fetch their food, he obliged because he’s a hustler. T.I.’s competition show The Grand Hustle seeks to find the hardest, most efficient worker out a group of 16 individuals vying for a 6-figure salary. Yonathan is one of those hopefuls. We caught up with the young entrepreneur, who has many hustles of his own including a popular podcast . HB: How did you land a spot on The Grand Hustle ? Yonathan: I had to complete an online application that literally took me three hours to complete. I almost gave up about two or three times. After I submit that, I got an email requesting a Skype interview because I made it to the second round. I then received a call saying that the producers loved me, but they want me for the second season, unless someone didn’t pass their background check. Must of been my lucky day because someone didn’t pass and they flew me to ATL for my final interview in front of the camera. I was locked in a hotel for five days and couldn’t go out because they didn’t want any of the cast to see each other. The last day was approaching and producers came into my room saying congratulations. Pack your stuff, we are moving you to the mansion! HB: What was it like finding out you would be sequestered? Yonathan: The thought of weeks and months of no phone, no social media, no reading, no seeing or even talking to friends and family, was nerve-wrecking. This was the longest I’ve ever gone without a phone, but I have to say, it was refreshing. I don’t think I would do it on my own, but it was cool to clear my mind of a lot of the BS we see and hear in this world. HB: How did you feel when you realized you had a fellow friend, Krystal Garner, in the house? Yonathan: When KG walked through that door, my initial thought was “Hell Yeah, someone I know!” Then I immediately thought, “Oh damn. We are about to be targeted!” I knew that people would think we would form an alliance, but what the viewers don’t understand is, that’s two verses 14. That doesn’t sound like a win to me. So as happy as I was to see a familiar face, I also knew we would have to work 10 times harder and also have our guards up. HB: You made some funny faces on the show, did you realize you were doing it? Yonathan: Watching the show and seeing these faces I’m making makes me understand why people always tell me that I can’t hide my emotions. I’m not going to lie, I even laughed at some of my reactions because I honestly never realized my face was so damn animated. Now this has me self-conscious about how I react to someone I don’t like but don’t want them to know. HB: What was the hardest challenge? Yonathan: I’m not one who backs down easily. I’m not used to dealing with individuals I don’t like. I’ve taken anger management because I grew up fighting. I was picked on as a child well into my teenage years, so I have a lot of anger built up and whenever someone ever tried it, it ended with them being bloody. I gave up that side of my life, but a certain bird in the house, named George, is poking the beast out of hibernation and he will soon find out that I’m not one to eff with! HB: How has your life changed since? Yonathan: Man! All I can do is smile. I’ve been getting hit up for interviews, being sent scripts, getting emails to collaborate on projects. It’s amazing why reality TV can do for you. Even though everyone always said I was made for reality Tv, I always said I would never do it because of how editing can manipulate you, but I have to commend BET for showing the real Yonathan. Everything you see is me 100%. No extras or fakes added. HB: What’s next? Yonathan: I told y’all I’m a multimedia mogul in the making. I wrote a script called “Bruk’s Brothers” which is basically a guy version of Sex in the City and Girlfriends . I’ve got a well-known EP and director with a cast that includes some of the greats that you currently see on TV. I’ll be shooting the pilot in LA and then pitching it to different networks. My email has some amazing scripts that have been sent to me, for some projects I am considering to act in. Then I’m also going to start a Boots and Hat line that I may even collab with my fellow Cast mate, Javi, on. Currently in the works of getting a pretty dope TV hosting gig as well! I just want to keep the momentum going and let the viewers know, I’m so much more than a reality star! Watch The Grand Hustle on BET every Thursday night. Lindsey Graham Wants To Remind You Judge Brett Kavanough Is Not Bill Cosby

J udge Brett Kavanaugh  and Dr. Christine Blasey Ford   were testifying Thursday about sexual assault accusations against the potential next Supreme Court justice. Ford claimed he assaulted her in the summer of 1982. Kavanaugh denied all of the allegations and said the hearing was a “national disgrace.” The ugly episode on Capitol Hill prompted South Carolina  Sen. Lindsey Graham  to have a temper tantrum and twice reference fallen television icon Bill Cosby . See Also: Bill Cosby Sentenced To 3 To 10 Years In Prison For Sexual Assault Conviction While addressing the Democrats who were questioning Kavanaugh fairly, especially considering hasn;t been an FBI investigation, Graham roared, “Boy, you all want power! God, I hope you never get it. I hope the American people can see through this sham, that you knew about it and you held it. You had no intention to protect Dr. Ford. She is as much a victim as you are.” Pivoting to Kavanaugh, he continued: “If you’re looking for a fair process, you came to the wrong town at the wrong time, my friend! Do you say you have been through hell?” Kavanaugh whined, “I have been through hell and then some.” “This is not a job interview; this is hell!?’ Graham yelled, “This is going to destroy the ability of good people to come forward, because of this crap.” He added, “You’re supposed to be  Bill Cosby   when you’re a junior and senior in high school and then, all of a sudden, you got over it?!” See the foolishness below: What an awful reference. On Tuesday, Bill Cosby was  sentenced to three to 10 years in state prison months after being found guilty on three counts of aggravated incident assault.
