It’s About Time! Idris Elba Named People Magazine’s 2018 Sexiest Man Alive

On Monday night, it was announced that  Idris Elba  is the publication’s 2018 Sexiest Man Alive . On social media, the actor broke the great news to his fans. “Who’d have thought it! Thank you People & all the fans for naming me  # SexiestManAlive . Don’t forget to grab your issue this week. I’m honored & thankful,” the award-winning actor wrote. But the 46-year-old also stressed what he believes is more important than this huge accomplishment. “But what’s even more important is your vote in the midterm elections. Your vote can make a difference!  ” So what did the Thor actor think when he was told he was this year’s cover boy? According to him, total shock. “I was like, ‘Come on, no way. Really?’” Idria told PEOPLE, adding, “Looked in the mirror, I checked myself out. I was like, ‘Yeah, you are kind of sexy today.’ But to be honest, it was just a nice feeling. It was a nice surprise — an ego boost for sure.” It’s hard to imagine a time when Idris never felt as sexy a he looks, but he told the publication that growing up, he definitely had his ugly duckling phase. “I was very tall and skinny,” says the 6’3″ star. “And my name was Idrissa Akuna Elba, okay? I got picked on a little bit. But as soon as I could grow a mustache, I was the coolest kid on the block. Credit: First We Feast Lil Yachty Tries Hot Sauce For The First Time, And It Went Like This… If you know anything about Lil Yachty , you’ve probably heard that his diet is extremely limited–and apparently, the rapper still sticks to eating pizza every single day. His sauce repertoire isn’t any more impressive, and on the latest episode of Hot Ones , Yachty reveals that he’s never tried hot sauce in his life! “I was always curious about, like, how does hot sauce work? Growing up I used to wonder, ‘If I touched it, was it hot?’” he asks during the episode. As you can probably imagine, Lil Boat’s first experience trying hot sauce didn’t exactly go over well–especially on a show that’s too spicy for some people who’ve been eating spicy food their whole life. Source: Global Grind / Global Grind Landon Levarius and DJ Franchise are back with a special Halloween edition of Global Grind’s weekly The Rewind series. First, the fellas get into Netflix’s new series, Haunted , which features r eal people sitting down with their friends and family to share terrifying yet true stories from their past, recreated through chilling reenactments. Episode two, Slaughterhouse  featuring Tara Lynne and Sadie, is one of the fan favorites that has everyone talking. Most people want to know if what happened in the episode is even true. The story is about a serial killer grandfather and his grandchildren living in a house.  While DJ Franchise thoroughly enjoyed the series, Landon is skeptical about the authenticity of episode two. Find out how they rate the new spooky Netflix series.  Rapper Mick Jenkins has linked up with the legendary Ghostface Killah for a new single titled “Padded Locks”. The track appears on the Chicago rapper’s newly released project, Pieces of a Man , which got its name from the  1971 Gil Scott-Heron classic and comes two years after his debut album,  The Healing Component.  Once again, DJ Franchise and Landon Levarius are on opposite ends when it comes to this subject. While one of them loves the new song and feels its a solid effort, the other isn’t sold on the track just yet. Was the song too lyrical that it went over everybody’s heads? S ome Black viewers are giving Netflix the serious side-eye after they have been duped into watching predominately white movies that appear to have a Black cast. See Also: Bring It Home! This film stars Kristen Bell/Kelsey Grammer and these actors had maaaaybe a 10 cumulative minutes of screen time. 20 lines between them, tops. pic.twitter.com/Sj7rD8wfOS — stacia l. brown (@slb79) October 18, 2018 However, according to The Guardian , this is just Netflix’s crafty way of marketing. “Last December, Netflix rolled out a new algorithm to begin serving up personalised images to its now 137 million subscriber-base,” reported The Guardian. “‘Artwork personalisation’ became a priority after the company’s own research proved that it was the biggest influencing factor on a viewer deciding what to watch, constituting 82% of their focus. Multiple images are now generated for each and every title and change regularly to lure audiences depending on their tastes and previous viewing history.” However, London podcast host  Tolani Shoneye  told The Guardian, “It’s intrusive. It’s the dark side of marketing. I noticed it a while ago with a Zac Efron film that I’d already seen, but Netflix kept showing me it as a Michael B. Jordan movie.” Netflix released the following statement, “We don’t ask members for their race, gender or ethnicity so we cannot use this information to personalise their individual Netflix experience. The only information we use is a member’s viewing history.” Of course Netflix doesn’t ask for your racial background, but using a member’s viewing history to dupe the Black viewers into watching a 95 percent white film is false advertising. Netflix needs to do better — or maybe create more Black, original content. Netflix’s “Luke Cage” Cancelled After Two Seasons

Netflix Cancels “Luke Cage” Bad news for Marvel fans who were feeling the Harlem vibes of Netlix’s Luke Cage . After only two seasons on the streaming service, the powers that be have decided to pull the plug on the hit hero show. The series faced the same fate as Marvel sister show Iron Fist , whose cancellation was announced just days earlier. According to Variety , this is just a step in Netflix severing ties with Marvel as the production company moves toward placing all of its properties to the upcoming Disney streaming service. A source tells the site that the network was in talks to produce a third season of Luke Cage , however, it just didn’t seem practical or possible with the big Disney move on the horizon. As Netflix and Marvel Television told journalists in a joint statement: “Unfortunately, ‘Marvel’s Luke Cage’ will not return for a third season. Everyone at Marvel Television and Netflix is grateful to the dedicated showrunner, writers, cast and crew who brought Harlem’s Hero to life for the past two seasons, and to all the fans who have supported the series.” SMH. I felt like everything in my life and everybody that came around was out to hurt me.” One painful memory Haddish talked about was that her stepfather admitted that he tried killing her mother, siblings and her as well. As soon as I started doing that, life started kicking him in the ass.” Haddish admitted that her grandmother told her to let God handle it. She continues to follow what her grandmother said and is turning her tragic stories into success.
