But Britney also starred in a movie, Crossroads . This throwback photo from the set really takes you back. Actress Taryn Manning shared a major throwback photo of herself with Britney Spears from the set of the 2002 film, Crossroads . Sharing the pic on Instagram, Manning captioned: “Thank you for this picture again. Someone took it off a disposable camera I had lol. The most memorable moments in the film, for me, were: -karaoke night -Britney and Justin Long’s characters had made plans to bang but they didn’t, which was devastating to 2002-era me (it was something about having sex for the wrong reasons or something) -Britney’s character ended up banging Anson Mount, the guy who’s going to play Black Bolt on Marvel’s Inhumans . (but he looked different at the time and is kind of a silver fox these days) -her character’s dad was a Ghostbuster (well, played by one) It’s worth noting that Britney and Anson were nominated for a Razzie for “Worst Screen Combo” but also for a Teen Choice Award for “Best Chemistry.” So … the coming-of-age flick wasn’t exactly controversial, but opinions were clearly divided. What we love about the throwback pic is that, even though Britney’s looking so young in it, she really doesn’t look that much older now. And that photo was taken on the set of a movie that came out 15 years ago . Sure, she’s a little less baby-faced these days, but not all 35-year-olds look so unmoved by the ravages of time. But then, not all 35-year-olds are Britney. Also … even though she doesn’t look it, Britney’s old enough to run for President. Just putting that out there. We’re glad that neither of Britney’s female costars have faded into obscurity. Zoe Saldana has the Star Trek movies and Guardians of the Galaxy and is, you know, super well-known. It was even Britney who told the world when Zoe Saldana was expecting twins . Taryn Manning’s less, you know, headline-making famous, but she’s starring on one of the most popular shows on the world’s most popular streaming TV platform, so she’s doing pretty well for herself. Neither of their careers hold a candle to Britney’s, but that’s not a fair comparison for literally anyone. For the second year in a row, Skittles has made a gesture in support of the LGBT community. With June widely considered Pride Month, the candy has gone all-white in various markets because, as the company behind Skittles explains, “during Pride, only one rainbow matters. So we’ve given up ours to show support.” The Skittles taste the same, it's worth noting. The typical colors associated with this beloved candy are simply the result of dye, not flavor of any kind. But try telling that to the Internet! As you might expect, a variety of users are responding in a variety of ways to this news. And not every reaction is positive… 1. James T. Hodgkinson has been identified as the man who opened fire with a semiautomatic weapon on Wednesday morning in Alexandria, Virginia. As previously reported, the incident took place around 7 a.m. on a baseball field where Republican Congressmen were taking batting and fielding practice. Five people were reportedly injured in the attack, most prominent among then Representative Steve Scalise from Louisiana . He’s been listed in stable condition and his office confirmed that Scalise was in “good spirits” upon wheeled in for surgery at a local hospital. Rand Paul was among those present during the attack and described the baseball field as a “killing field” during an interview on Morning Joe . He said the death toll would have been unimaginable if not for the swift actions of Capitol Police. Added Congressman Mo Brooks, who estimates that Hodgkinson fired at minimum 50 rounds before authorities took him out. “I see a rifle… I hear another blam… at the same time I heard Steve Scalise scream. He was shot… It sure as heck wasn’t an accident. He was going after elected officials.” It has since been confirmed that Hodgkinson asked someone close to the baseball field whether the man playing on it were Republicans or Democrats. As of 9:45 a.m. EST, Steve Scalise was in stable condition and entering surgery following a heinous attack orchestrated by James T. Hodgkinson. “We may have our differences, but we do well, in times like these, to remember that everyone who serves in our nation’s capital is here because, above all, they love our country,” President Trump said in a statement, adding: “We can all agree that we are blessed to be Americans, that our children deserve to grow up in a nation of safety and peace, and that we are strongest when we are unified and when we work together for the common good.” “Please take a moment today to cherish those you love, and always remember those who serve and keep us safe. God bless them all, God bless you, and God Bless America.” The President also confirmed that James T. Hodgkinson is dead from the injuries he sustained upon exchanging gunfire with officers. This is what we know about James T. Hodgkinson: – He was a 66-year old resident of Belleville, Illinois. – He belonged to a number of anti-Republican groups, including one called “Terminate the Republican Party.” – He was a licensed home inspector from 1994 to 1997 and also from 2003 through 2016. – Two days ago, Hodgkinson shared an angry tweet about President Trump on Facebook. It reads as follows: I Want to Say Mr. President, for being an ass hole you are Truly the Biggest Ass Hole We Have Ever Had in the Oval Office. – He has been arrested or cited for such offenses such as: Failing to obtain electrical permits, damaging a motor vehicle, resisting a peace officer, eluding police, criminal damage to property, driving under the influence and assorted traffic violations. Hodgkinson also volunteered for the Presidential campaign of Senator Bernie Sanders in 2016. Upon learning this piece of information, Sanders released the following statement: “I am sickened by this despicable act. Let me be as clear as I can be: “Violence of any kind is unacceptable in our society and I condemn this action in the strongest possible terms.” Law enforcement officials say there’s no reason to believe the assailant had ties to international terrorism. Two firearms, a rifle and a handgun, were recovered from the scene, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives say. The shooting also wounded two members of a dignitary protection unit of the U.S. Capitol Police,. along with two members of the Capitol Police. All are in good condition.
Megyn Kelly’s interview with famous jerk and creator of Infowars Alex Jones hasn’t even aired yet and it’s already mired in controversy . The contentiousness of the decision to interview such a man hasn’t gone unnoticed. Advertisers have been fleeing to the hills. And now Megyn Kelly’s been asked to step down from hosting a Sandy Hook benefit … because Alex Jones and his people famously declared that the Sandy Hook mass shooting was a hoax . Tomorrow, Sandy Hook Promise, a major gun violence-prevention organization, holds its annual Champions Promise Gala, where Megyn was originally supposed to emcee. She has now been asked to step down from that role. In case there was any doubt as to why she’s being bumped, Sandy Hook Promise issued this statement: “This decision was spurred by NBC’s planned broadcast of Kelly’s interview with conspiracy theorist Alex Jones, who believes the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, CT, was a hoax.” Yeah, we can absolutely see how that would rub grieving parents the wrong way. “Sandy Hook Promise cannot support the decision by Megyn or NBC to give any form of voice or platform to Alex Jones and have asked Megyn Kelly to step down as our Promise Champion Gala host. It is our hope that Megyn and NBC reconsider and not broadcast this interview.” That’s pretty understandable. Networks care about image, but only up to a certain point and only as a means to an end. What most of them really care about is ratings and advertisers, and the ratings only because they attract more money from advertisers. While some controversies and drive up viewers, some businesses do not want to risk the association and pull their ads — which is exactly what’s happening here. J.P. Morgan Chase has pulled its ads from NBC — not just for Megyn’s timeslot — until after the interview is scheduled to air on June 18th. J.P. Morgan Chase’s chief marketing officer tweeted that she was “repulsed” that Alex Jones would receive airtime. Alex Jones, for his part, has already declared to his followers that the interview will be “fake news” and that “they’re scared of what we’re covering.” As always with conspiracy theorists, the use of “they” could mean anything from “the establishment” to Illuminati lizard people, which are often just one and the same. Everybody learns of the existence of Alex Jones and Infowars in their own way. Have you ever made the mistake of looking up something without paying attention to where you were looking it up? I did, a few years back. I looked up some dumb movie — Transcendence — for an analysis of its portrayal of transhumanism. The first couple of paragraphs just summarized the film, and the next one briefly defined transhumanism — it’s basically just technology making our lives longer and better. The next paragraph, and in fact the rest of the article, was talking about how this film was made as part of some diabolical campaign to “prepare” the public for transhumanism, though it would only be reserved for “global elites.” That was when I looked up at where Google results had taken me — it was Infowars . Other articles discussed various vague and elaborate “plots” that involved various innocuous elements of pop culture and politics. I’d quickly had my fill of nonsense. These days, the far-right fringe conspiracy site is much better known. From a viral video of Alex Jones decrying that he doesn’t “like ’em putting chemicals in the water that turn the friggin’ frogs gay!” to the disturbing links between Infowars and Donald Trump, people these days are much more familiar. Unfortunately, a huge part of that is because of ironically named “Sandy Hook Truthers” who deny that the Sandy Hook mass shooting took place, and instead insist that the children never existed and that the very real grieving parents are paid actors. That’s a lot more upsetting than a dumb theory about a dumb movie. So Megyn Kelly choosing to interview Alex Jones has her on blast for giving the guy a platform. Parents who are still — and will always be — grieving don’t want to see see anyone even seem to give credibility to the guy who’s claims that their children never existed. It’s one thing to interview Putin, who’s terrible but can’t be ignored. It’s another thing to give a platform to Alex Jones. But, at the same time, we have to wonder if she could do more good by exposing Alex Jones for exactly the sort of man he is. Especially since Alex Jones has been praised by Donald Trump and Infowars has been given White House press credentials, as if they were a real news organization. One thing’s for sure — this interview’s going to get a lot more viewers due to all of the controversy. People will want to see what all of the fuss is about. Assuming that NBC doesn’t pull it entirely.
Tyga should really just be grateful that Kylie Jenner put up with him as long as she did, and that the world seems to have overlooked the fact that he was dating a minor when he was already old enough to rent a car. Instead, it looks like he’s spending his time taking cheap shots at his ex. What a class act. That Instagram photo is almost fine on its own — well, except that Tyga’s in it — right? Except that his caption, “Better Dayz,” seems like he’s bragging about how much “better” his life is since Kylie finally gave him the boot . His spelling style’s unorthodox, but this is from a guy whose name is probably a reference to big cats (tigers) but sounds more like boreal forests (taiga). It’s hard to look at his caption and see this as innocuous. If he were just having a good day, he’d surely have written “good dayz” or whatever. “Better” implies that he had some not-so-good days, and he has to know that everyone will immediately think of Kylie. This isn’t even the first time that he’s done this — remember that diss track ? Ugh. What a way to regard your ex. Especially when she’s the only reason that anyone knows who you are. After it felt like Kylie had been dating Tyga for decades (really just 18 months — Kylie hasn’t even been alive for decades, yet), the couple that just couldn’t quit each other finally split. Speculation on the reasons for the breakup varied, from Kylie having grown as a person to her finally putting her foot down over how much advantage he was taking of her finances. All of that sounds believable, to be honest. And then there was the creepy age difference. And the family drama with Tyga having a son came close to becoming Rob Kardashians’ stepson. Basically, there was every possible reason for their breakup to end. And if you ever have doubts over whether or not you did the right thing, look for your ex lashing out at you on social media and then never look back. Kylie’s moved on with Travis Scott, and the two are even rumored to have secretly married . It’s admittedly kind of hard to imagine that. Not because Kylie’s so wise and mature, but because it’s hard to picture something like that slipping past the all-seeing eye of Kris Jenner. While Travis Scott isn’t exactly a class act himself — remember when he grossly compared Kylie and Kendall’s bedroom skills ? — he is, at least, not Tyga. The fact that we feel relief that Kylie’s dating him just means that she’s set the relationship bar so, so low for herself. Hopefully, whenever her relationship with Travis ends — and it will, because all relationships end and also she’s still just 19 — Travis won’t use the fame that she gave him take cheap shots at her over Instagram. Love her or hate her, there’s no denying that Katy Perry has been exceedingly open and honest in the months leading up to the release of her new album. She’s gotten real about her feud with Taylor Swift, she’s spoken out about her political views, she’s opened up about her sexuality . She’s also done some not so great things: who could forget those unfortunate remarks she made about Britney Spears, or the comment about Obama that some people believed to be racist ? The point is that, for better or for worse, Katy has been more than just a pretty pop star lately. And in a shocking livestream she shared on YouTube, she really proved that. See, Katy’s new album, Witness, was released yesterday, and to celebrate, she’s livestreaming all sorts of things this weekend. She’s been dancing, doing yoga, hosting celebrity guests — it’s been surprisingly personal. But nothing she’s done so far has been as personal as a therapy session with celebrity psychologist Dr. Siri Sam Nam Singh that she streamed last night. In the session, Katy revealed that she often feels pulled between being “Katy Perry, pop star” and Katheryn Hudson, the “dork” she is in real life. “I’m a bit more nerdy than everybody things I am,” she explained. “I’m a big goofball. The fantasy of Katheryn went into into Katy and made this bigger than life personality.” “That’s the point of this whole thing, if people can see I’m just like them they they can dream just as big.” The struggle of being both Katy and Katheryn is what inspired her to cut all her hair off — “I didn’t want to look like Katy Perry anymore,” she said. She also shared that she’s struggled with alcoholism — at this point in the video, someone could be heard urging her to stop the session. But instead of stopping, she just got even more intimate. Katy said that she’s also contemplated suicide, adding that “I feel ashamed that I would have those thoughts, feel that low and that depressed.” She said that she even wrote a song about it — “By the Grace of God” from her 2013 album, Prism. “You can be right or you can be loved,” she said. “I just want to be loved.” It was an extremely personal thing for her to share, and so it just makes sense that her fans have been losing their minds in support for her. “I’ve gained so much respect for Katy Perry,” one person tweeted. “Her therapy session and allowing the world to witness her… my heart breaks seeing her sadness.” A fan told her “Your therapy session touched my heart it was so deep! We just learned earlier this morning that Adam West, the actor best known for starring in the 1960s Batman series, has passed away. He was battling leukemia, and sources say that he died in his sleep . He was 88 years old. How many issues can you have in a relationship before you finally admit that things aren’t working? With Amber Portwood and Matt Baier, that sure seems to be the question. They’ve been together for over two years now, and it’s just one problem after the other. Remember when Amber found out that Matt had been lying to her about how many kids he had , and she still made excuses and kept dating him? Then remember how he tried to pressure her into getting married in Las Vegas even though she didn’t want to? He called her “psycho,” he said that she wanted to marry her brother instead of him, he basically humiliated her on TV, and still, she didn’t break up with him. There have been piles and piles of rumors that he’s been cheating on her, and he even failed a lie detector test when questioned about it, but still … you guessed it. The girl seems completely incapable of kicking this jackass to the curb, and it’s tough to watch. But judging by what goes down in a new sneak peek for the upcoming episode of Teen Mom OG, she might finally be growing a backbone when it comes to her creep of a fiancé. In the clip , Amber and Matt head to New York, along with the other Teen Mom cast members, for some press events. They’re with some crew members when Matt pulls her aside, saying “Come here, I want to tell you something.” “I’m really sorry about last night,” he begins, but Amber isn’t having it — she tells him that she knows he’s sorry. He asks her if she forgives him, but she says “You’re sorry every other f-cking week.” And then, Matt delivers what could very well be the most horrifying statement to ever be made on reality TV: “Do you forgive Daddy?” He asks her this not once, but twice — “Do you forgive Daddy?” You’ll hear it in your nightmares, it will haunt your waking moments … you’ll never, ever be able to rid yourself of the fact that, at this moment in time, Matt Baier referred to himself as “Daddy.” But still, Amber doesn’t care. She says that she doesn’t forgive him, and when he asks if she still wants to marry him , she shakes her head. He seems shocked by her answer, and asks her what she’s going to say during interviews about their relationship. “I’ll lie right now,” she says with a shrug, but he insists, “You’ll marry me.” She remains firm: she’s not going to do it. “Babe, come on,” he pleads with her. “I made one mistake.” “You made more than f-cking one mistake,” she responds. “I’m not doing it.” Matt tells her that whatever he did, he won’t do it again, and it’s only then that Amber tells him that she’s wearing a microphone, and he might want to watch what he says. He seems really upset by the fact that she’s wearing a microphone while they’re filming a reality show, but Amber’s low on sympathy here. “Your ignorance,” she tells him as he walks off. So what did Matt do that’s so bad that Amber won’t forgive him? Is this about the cheating rumors? Is it because he feels the need to call himself “Daddy” and she just can’t live with that kind of disgusting nonsense in her life anymore? Hopefully we’ll find out on Monday! If you watch Vanderpump Rules online , you know that the show’s past season wasn’t particularly kind to SUR hostess/aspiring pop singer/fake eyelash enthusiast Scheana Marie. In addition to chronicling her divorce from Mike Shay , VPR Season 5 featured a storyline about Scheana being booted out of the chick clique that’s since dubbed itself the Witches of WeHo. The politics of the group are complex, and providing a full explanation would take about as much time as giving you a complete history of the Soviet Union … and it would feature just as many nefarious characters. Suffice it to say, Stassi Schroeder was in charge, then she fell from power, then she maneuvered her way back into the group, and while she allows Katie Maloney to serve in a sort of figurehead capacity, Stassi is totally back in charge these days. That’s bad news for Scheana, who has little choice but to accept the current power structure and serve up the occasional pinot grigio. The cast is currently filming Season 6, and sources say Scheana is more on the outs than ever before, to the point that she has yet to film with the other ladies. Judging from their Instagram pics, the rest of the cast is getting along just fine … … They’ve just replaced Scheana with Jax Taylor’s girlfriend, Brittany Cartwright . Stassi’s squad posted the pic above to celebrate National Best Friend Day, which is the latest dumb thing the Internet expects you to care about. Not to be outdone, Scheana posted her own Besties Day pic. Hers, of course, featured her BFFs Ariana Madix and Lala Kent. So it seems she’s not completely without allies. The only problem is that Lala quit the show last year, and Ariana’s storylines mostly center around her relationship with Tom Sandoval. (Despite her insistence that she has no interest in marriage, we’re guessing Ariana and Tom will be the next Vanderpump couple to get hitched.) These days, Scheana is dating Robert Valletta , but there’s no word on whether or not he’ll appear on the series. Stassi, meanwhile, is back together with boyfriend Patrick Meagher, who will be joining the cast on a part-time basis this season. Sounds like Ms. Schroeder is only becoming more and more powerful while her foes stagnate. It’ll take a lot of white wine to get her fall off her throne now.
