Khloe Kardashian: Accused by Designer of Stealing Designs, Legal Bullying

Khloe Kardashian’s legal team sent a cease and desist letter to a small, independent designer, instructing her to stop accusing Khloe of stealing her work. It looks like that’s blown up in Khloe’s face. Majorly. If there’s one thing that truly unites the Kardashian family, it’s a fondness for cultural appropriation. From cornrows to huge lips to big butt culture to … everything, it seems that the Kardashians scarcely have to see an element of black culture before they decide to make it their own. But it seems that the appropriation isn’t limited to Kylie Jenner’s ever-changing body ,  Designer Destiney Bleu, after repeatedly calling out Khloe and accusing her of ripping off her designs. She did this so much that Khloe’s legal team sent a nasty cease-and-desist order. Of course, most small-time designers would be quaking in their boots when threatened with a rich person’s lawsuit. Even if you’re in the right, just letting a lawsuit drag out in court can completely exhaust someone’s finances. You can win the case but have your life ruined. Destiney has majorly clapped back, and no matter which of them you believe about the propietary issues, these words are absolutely worth reading. We wonder if Khloe is regretting any of that now? Though the response letter comes from Destiney’s legal representative, it seems pretty clear that Destiney’s words are involved. Because the letter is decidedly  not limited to legal jargon. “It is not illegal for Khloe to copy Destiney’s designs — it is just tacky, disrespectful, and in bad taste,” says Destiney’s scathing response letter , as reported by TooFab . “There is also something deeply uncomfortable about someone with Khloe’s wealth and power appropriating designs and fashion directly from a black woman with a small business without crediting her, making cheap knockoffs, and then attempting to threaten her into silence.” Hold on a moment, we need to print out that line and frame it and hang it on our wall. But the letter continues. “You should be ashamed.” It’s clear that we’re all meant to know exactly what Khloe’s lawyers are demanding from Destiney. “You demand that Destiney ‘cease and desist’ her ‘false statements,’ ‘make an appropriate corrective statement,’ and ‘that [Destiney’s] trolls stop attacking [Khloe Kardashian’s] social media channels.'” How exactly is Destiney expected to stop other people from independently tweeting at Khloe? With magic? Sorry, Khloe’s legal team, but even if you  happen to think that all black people look alike, Destiney isn’t Azealia Banks . “However, your attempt to censor Destiney with these meritless threats will have the opposite of its intended effect. Destiney will not surrender to your bullying.” That lawyer’s absolutely right about the opposite effect business, because if Khloe had never tried to shut down Destiney’s statements, a lot of people might never have heard about this. And, by the way, Destiney’s also happy to provide evidence of correspondences she had, which she says prove that Khloe had access to Destiney’s samples … before going on to copy them. How sad must it be to be rich and famous but still feel the need to pluck ideas from others and claim them as your own? Ariana Grande: Watch The Hero We Need Perform in Paris!

Knowing how to go on with your life is one of the most important things in the face of terrible tragedies. But it's even more vital in the aftermath of a terrorist attack. That's why it's so good to see that Ariana Grande has been able to carry on with her Dangerous Woman Tour. The  bombing attack at her Manchester concert  was horrible. 22 people died,  including an 8-year-old girl . It was a vicious attack using an explosive that sent improvised shrapnel — including nails — hurtling into nearby victims. Many of Ariana's concert attendees are minors, including younger children. A lot of parents were also present. The attacker no doubt chose the victims and vanue for maximum effect. In response, Ariana had initially  canceled her Dangerous Woman tour , issuing a statement about how devastated she was. It's so important to remember that Ariana wasn't just feeling sorry for her fans who were dead, injured, and traumatized. She was also there. She was also a victim and also a survivor of the attack. That's always going to leave an emotional mark, no matter how strong someone is. Trauma is powerful and ugly and it can prevent people from living their lives. Ariana's memorial performance in Manchester featured numerous other performers, including Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber. One Love Manchester was an overall success and a heartwarming tribute  to the victims, including both those who made it and those who did not. It was safe and sent out a powerful message that healing is possible even in the wake of horror. There's something to be said about the state of the world when the likes of Justin Bieber does more to support the British people than the US President at the time. The good news new, for multiple reasons, is that Ariana's tour has officially resumed. She performed in Paris, France, going through a series of current and older hits but also covering “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.” A beautiful, hopeful anthem that older people who (for whatever reason) aren't her fans might find more accessible than, say, “Side To Side.” Here's why that's a good thing: First of all, Ariana's fans deserve to get to see her Dangerous Woman concert. Not just because they've been waiting for it, but because the evil deeds of evil men shouldn't rob people all over the world of their happiness. Second of all, it shows other aspiring terrorists, whether they're already part of groups like Daesh or are simply disaffected losers who “self-radicalize” because they want to feel important, that their efforts won't work. That means that their efforts to demonize Muslims living in predominantly Christian countries won't work. But also that their attempts to strike blows at cultural values that they don't share won't work. We are all defiant in the face of terrorism, as we should be. Not for nothing, but continuing with her tour also means that Ariana Grande herself is working through her trauma. After everything, we would have completely understood if she'd just decided to curl up in her house for a few years. Instead, she visited surviving victims in their hospital rooms, held a memorial concert, and is going to continue to bring joy to the world. She truly is the hero we need. Now, watch her moving performance — and that massive, undeterred audience.

Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani: Still Together, Closer than Ever!

Fans of this unlikely couple had been so worried since stories emerged of a possible breakup . But it looks like any issues have been resolved and that Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton are back on track. In fact, based on Blake’s new statements, it sounds like they’re closer than ever! These two might both be in the music business, but they come from completely different worlds. Gwen Stefani is a pop icon with numerous hits She’s very well-known in popular culture. Blake Shelton is a musical titan … in the context of country music. Country music has a huge fanbase, sure, and some of Blake Shelton’s name-recognition even spills over into popular culture. Before these two were judges on the same show and became an item, your average person could probably only tell you much about one or the other, but not both. But, despite effectively being from different planets, they met on The Voice and, in 2015, freshly broken up with their spouses, they began dating . It turns out that they might not be as much of a case of “opposites attract” as people might think, though. We have to keep in mind that Gwen Stefani only had, what, one real boyfriend before she dated and then married Gavin Rossdale? She came from a fairly conservative background, which was probably part of why she took Gavin’s reported cheating so personally . Plus, even with the most serious relationships, you don’t always need to be romancing a cultural clone of yourself. Sometimes all that you need is chemistry. Regardless, the Gwen and Blake have meshed together well, comforting each other after their respective breakups . And then some . Still, many had worried that the star-crossed romance had finally come to an end. Well, Blake’s interview with Hoda Kotb assures the world that he and Gwen are rock solid . “We’re just content and happy, and it’s just an incredible feeling,” he says. “She’s my best friend.” Yeah, it sounds like these two are still head-over-heels. And this is coming up on a two-year relationship. That’s a long-ass honeymoon phase. You know, a lot of people who get married or are considering marriage refer to “marrying their best friend.” We don’t think that Blake’s necessarily dropping hints, but … maybe he’s subconsciously choosing words that betray his intentions. Keshia Knight Pulliam: I STILL Believe Bill Cosby! No, Really!

Sometimes, otherwise smart people will buy into the unbelievable hook, line, and sinker. Bill Cosby’s trial is ongoing, and he’s run pretty short on people who still believe him — but some folks are sticking with him, for some reason. We’ve already mentioned that both Bill Cosby’s real wife and TV wife support him . Keshia Knight Pulliam, who played his daughter on The Cosby Show, is also at the trial. It looks like, defying all reason, she’s there to stand by his side every step of the way. “I came to support because this is where you hear the facts. This is where the truth happens,” she told reporters . It sounds like she’s imagining that he’s going to be vindicated in this trial. “Ultimately, it’s easy to support someone and to be in their corner when things are great,” she says. She’s right about that one, very specific thing. “But true family, friendship, integrity,” she continues.  “Is how people show up and support when things aren’t looking so great, when they aren’t shining.” Usually this means coming over to help a friend move after a breakup, or letting someone crash on your couch after they lost their job, or just hanging out with them when they’re not at their best. That’s usually what it means to not be a “fair weather friend.” Somebody needs to tell Keshia Pulliam Knight that rape trials aren’t “friendships tests,” they’re literal trials for sexual assault. It could be your blood sibling on trial and you would still be completely clear to cut ties with them. Nobody would think that you were only close because their life was going well. We wish that we could say that she’s the only celebrity who still buys Bill Cosby’s claims of innocence , but she isn’t . Of course, the reality is that, regardless of what anyone believes, acquittal is totally possible. We all know that. If you believe in Cosby’s innocence, of course you believe that acquittal is possible. If you believe in Cosby’s guilt, you can’t help but think of George Zimmerman, of O.J. Simpson, and Casey Anthony — all of whom were acquitted. Because the jury system’s so, so great, right? There’s something cautious about Keshia’s phrasing, though. Anybody else notice that? With her “this is where the truth happens” line, maybe she’s wording her statements so that, no matter how the trial goes, she can still be “right” either way. If he’s acquitted, she can point to her statements and say that she always knew that he was innocent, and that the truth has come out. Never mind that acquittal of one assault would still leave more than 50 accusations, and that legal and factual innocence do not always overlap. But, with her careful words, she can still be “right” even if he’s convicted. The jury can hand down a guilty verdict and Keshia could, if she chose, argue that this trial has revealed how powerful this “conspiracy” against Bill Cosby is — powerful enough to convict a man she believes is innocent. We don’t know if she’ll actually go that route. Maybe she doesn’t even know. No matter how the trial turns out or how she responds, we hate to see her do this to herself. Bill Cosby: Supported in Court By Real, TV Wives For Whatever Reason

Bill Cosby’s trial began today, for only one of the more than fifty sexual assaults of which he has been accused. Many would say that anyone still standing with him is either delusional … or stands to lose something. Well, right now he’s believed to have two avid supporters in the form of his “wives” — the one from real life and from television. Camille Cosby has been his actual, real life wife for 53 years. She’s reportedly been unwavering in her support of and belief in him. Phylicia Rashad, who played his character’s wife on The Cosby Show , is apparently also a believer in his innocence. Both women have been expected to stand by Cosby’s side through the trial. Notably, of the other members of  the  Cosby  cast , the women who played his daughters on television have been tight-lipped.  That could mean anything from not wanting to get involved — either for or against him — to being somehow involved with the story themselves and not wanting that exposed. As much as we wish that everyone who knows anything could just come forward, we can absolutely understand why some people wouldn’t want to become involved. After seeing the sort of treatment that Amber Heard’s received from Johnny Depp’s fans since last year, it’s pretty clear that anyone opposing a celebrity is going to have to deal with a very passionate fanbase. Few celebrities have had so many decades to make a positive impression on the world before the accusations against them became common knowledge. But, at the same time, few face accusations from 58 alleged victims. It’s understandable, if alarming, that people close to Cosby might still support him, despite having more than 50 accusers. Sometimes it’s easier to believe in elaborate conspiracy theories than to see the worst in a loved one. Cosby himself has enjoyed accusing his accusers of racism , which might not make sense, but it doesn’t have to. There are always going to be people looking for any excuse to believe in his innocence. They don’t need to be people who know him personally. Some people can’t reconcile a serial predator with the man they saw on a groundbreaking sitcom. Or with the man they saw on jello commercials as a child. The power of being a celebrity is far-reaching and leaves lifelong impressions. Beyond the conspiracy theorists, Cosby has also enjoyed the support of mentally unstable celebrities . Even that kind of endorsement could work in his favor with certain parties. The only thing that ultimately matters for this case, however, is what the jury believes. If the attorneys and judge did their jobs during Voir Dire, the jury shouldn’t be stacked with “truthers” or with anyone who’s already out for blood. Prince Harry: Plans to Propose to Meghan Markle Revealed?

Like Hemingway and the Jimmy John’s guy  before them, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will soon be headed to the green hills of Africa, where they’ll participate in a full-blown safari. Unlike those giants in the worlds of literature and cold cuts, however, Harry and Meghan thankfully won’t be slaying any large beasts. But that doesn’t mean they won’t have something to show off when they get home. According to Radar Online, Harry is planning to propose to Meghan during the couple’s jungle jaunt. The continent is apparently of tremendous emotional significance to Harry, who sought refuge there with his brother and father following the death of his mother, Princess Diana. “Africa means everything to Harry,” a source close to the Royals tells Radar. “It is where he and William were taken by their father to escape after their mother’s death.” And that’s not the end of the Harry’s sentimental ties to Africa: “He feels himself there, and it was the South African jewelry he gave to Meghan that first gave their relationship away,” says the insider, adding: “Prince William proposed to Kate there.” In case you still haven’t grasped the extent to which Harry really, really loves Africa, the tipster continues: “He really feels he has found a soulmate in Meghan, and both have even said they would love to live on and run a wildlife safari reserve.” At this point, you should imagine the source grabbing you by the shoulders, shaking you, and screaming about Harry’s love of Africa. “The continent, the Toto song, everything! Harry. Loves. Africa!” Rumors about Harry and Meghan getting engaged have been circulating pretty much from the moment the world learned they were dating, but it’s really beginning to feel like it’ll happen soon. Ariel Winter is a talented actress, a well-spoken young woman, and she always looks good. This time, she’s using her stunning looks for a great cause. She captioned the photo:  “Put on your bunny ears to show you are #ForeverAgainstAnimalTesting.” Her hands are the bunny ears, you see. And bunnies are so often the victims in animal testing. It wasn’t just an empty hashtag, however, because she made her cause clear. “Sign the petition to ban animal testing in cosmetics globally! Link in bio.” Before you freak out, you should know that this doesn’t seem to be a PETA thing. Because yeah, not all organizations that sound like they’re for good causes are necessarily on the level. Unfortunately. This seems to be real, and that’s no surprise — Ariel Winter is a smart young woman. Animal testing is an age-old and often cruel practice. What’s a cheap and easy way to find out if your new cosmetics cause chemical burns or blindness?  Easy — you just slap them on a bunny’s face and see what happens. Now think about how many cosmetic products are on the shelves, and how many furry friends have suffered for so many of them. We’re glad that Ariel Winter is using her platform to bring attention to this good cause. Actually, you know what? We’re glad that she’s using her boobs to do it. We said it. Ariel Winter’s breasts received so much unwanted attention, even when she was a minor , that she had breast-reduction surgery . It would have been more than understandable if she’d just covered herself in a sheet and hidden behind closed doors. Instead, it looks like she’s comfortable with her body, and she’s flaunting her body in stellar photos . Now she’s taking that a step further, and using her sex appeal — the thing that was used against her — to make the world a better place. Ariel Winter has always been well-spoken, and it looks like she’s living her best life. We’re just glad that she’s working for more than just her own happiness, you know? She’s such a gift. Maddie Brown on Two-Week-Old Son: Stop Growing Up So Fast!

Maddie Brown gave birth to her first child just over two weeks ago now, and she now realizes just how quickly they grow up.  Maddie and husband, Caleb Brush named their little bundle of joy Axel James , and appear to be happier than ever as they take some of the cutest pictures on Instagram.  It’s certainly refreshing to have some news from the Sister Wives family that does not lean heavily on Robyn apparently leaving Kody.  Would Sister Wives ever be the same if she were to just up and leave? We think not.  Anyway, back to the cute pictures of Axel James Brush.  The above picture showed off Axel’s smile, but Maddie seemed conflicted about her son growing up quickly in the caption.  “This little stud is two weeks old today. I’m torn between wanting to watch him grow and wanting him to stay small forever. #AxelJames #BabyBoy #motherhood #Twoweeks.” Now, all parents worry about their children growing up too fast, but babies have a knack for becoming toddlers very quickly, so we can see where Maddie is coming from.  Maddie unveiled another picture of her son laughing with his eyes closed.  She was quick to point out that she did not want to be that mom who posts lots of pictures of her child. “I am that mom I swore I wouldn’t be, posting tons of pictures of this handsome boy. How could I not though!? #AxelJames #motherhood #BabyBoy.” Something tells us she’s going to be sharing a whole lot more pictures of her son in the future. It’s natural for a parent to want to show their little cherub off to the world.  Maddie and Caleb married in 2016 in a Bohemian inspired wedding.  Unlike Maddie’s parents, she will be living a monogamous lifestyle with Caleb.  Viewers of Sister Wives are anxiously awaiting news of a return date for the popular TLC reality series.

Vladimir Putin to Megyn Kelly: Get a Life, Loser!

When he’s not stoically stroking a cat or swivelling in a chair to reveal himself to a captured foe, Russian President Vladimir Putin likes to maintain the illusion that he’s the democratically elected, non-villainous head of a functioning industrialized nation. That means occasionally conversing with reporters, despite the fact that it would be so much easier to put their heads on spikes outside the Kremlin as a warning to others who might be thinking about snooping around. On Sunday night, Trump foil turned Fox News refugee Megyn Kelly interviewed Putin on her new 60 Minutes -esque weekly newsmagazine.  Not surprisingly, Putin was his usual petulant self, bristling at questions about Russia’s alleged collusion with the Trump administration , and seemingly at all times one subtle head nod away from having Kelly dragged off to a Siberian work camp. “You have created a sensation out of nothing,” Putin replied when asked about charges of Russia hacking the DNC and meddling in the 2016 election. “And out of this sensation you created a weapon of war against the president,” he said, referring to Trump. “You people over there … good job. Your lives must be boring.” Yes, Vlad just went full Regina George and basically asked Kelly why she’s so totes obsessed with him. To her credit, Kelly pressed on and asked the real-life Bond villain about the alleged pee tapes starring Trump and some Russian hookers . Okay, she didn’t use the word “pee tapes” but she did ask if Russia has incriminating information that it’s using to blackmail Trump: “Well this just another load of nonsense,” Putin replied. “Where would we get this information from? There was a time when he used to come to Moscow but, you know, I never met him. Do you think we’re gathering information on all of the [Americans visiting Russia on business]. “Have you all lost your sense over there?” he concluded, really piling on the rhetorical questions in not-at-all-super-suspicious fashion. This is some top-notch gaslighting, folks. The good thing about engaging in the kind of cartoonish supervillainy that sounds ridiculous when you describe it out loud is that all you have to do to defend yourself is describe it out loud. It’s a tactic that’s probably been employed by evildoers throughout history. “Riiiiight, I’m brainwashing you into worshipping me as a Christ-like figure so that I can convince you to commit a series of brutal murders in hopes of igniting an apocalyptic race war,” we imagine a young Charles Manson sarcastically dismissing his followers’ suspicions.
