Spray-On Caffeine: Actually a Thing!

Don’t like coffee? Can’t stand energy drinks? Well have we got a deal for you! Well, not us, rather Devin Soni and Ben Yu, Harvard graduates who suffer from the horrible affliction of caffeine sensitivity. They have found a way to deliver energy through a spray that you apply to your neck rather than having to drink coffee or guzzle Red Bull.  Check out their IndieGoGo video below! Sprayable Caffeine! Okay. I realize this is apparently a very super serious matter, to these guys at least, but surely I’m not the only one that kept expecting the Energizer Bunny to walk through this video or have someone jump through the screen yelling about energy. The voice-over sounded like it was narrating a story of a kitten lost in a snowstorm on a cold winter’s night only to be miraculously rescued by a kind soul… energized by spray caffeine.  Apparently there are plenty of people out there in need of spray energy in their lives as the duo’s IndieGoGo campaign not only met their campaign goal of $15,000 but have surpassed it. Just goes to show, people love products that fit 40 cups of coffee in one small and portable spray bottle.

Adriana De Moura: Nude for PETA!

Unlike the rumored Demi Lovato nude pics floating around the Internet, Adriana De Moura dons her birthday suit in the following photo… but this one is meant to go public. The Real Housewives of Miami star is the latest Z-lister to bare almost all in the name of animal rights, lying naked in a bathtub in order to prove a point about whale cruelty. Referring to of an orca at Miami Seaguarium that has been confined to a tank since 1970, De Moura asks in the poster: “Could you live in a bathtub for 40 years?” As for stripping down in the ad, the art dealer told an NBC affiliate in Miami: “Getting naked is not as easy as it sounds in front of everybody, but again I believe it’s for a good cause. So if my nakedness can bring awareness to this appalling situation then I’m still in it, literally, in hot water.” And it’s not like she’s along. Sid Bernstein Dies; Legendary Music Promoter Was 95

Sid Bernstein, a legendary music promoter who booked such top acts as Jimi Hendrix, Judy Garland, The Beatles and the Rolling Stones, has died. He was 95 years old. Bernstein’s daughter, Casey Deutsch, said he died in his sleep at NYC’s Lenox Hill Hospital. She cited no specific illness, and said he passed away of natural causes on Wednesday. Bernstein hit the highest of heights when he masterminded the Beatles’ historic concerts at Shea Stadium and Carnegie Hall, during their prime. For decades on end, the squat, floppy-haired Bernstein excelled like few others at the lost arts of being everywhere and knowing everybody. He worked with Garland, Duke Ellington and Ray Charles, promoted Dion, Bobby Darin and Chubby Checker, and managed Esy Morales, the Rascals and Ornette Coleman. He was an early backer of ABBA, and was behind one of the first rock benefit shows, the 1970 “Winter Festival for Peace” at Madison Square Garden. That show featured Hendrix and Peter, Paul and Mary. Also noteworthy was the fact that Sid Bernstein helped revive Tony Bennett’s career with a 1962 show at Carnegie Hall, cementing both of their legends. R.I.P.

James Franco Presents: Coming to Ovation!

James Franco has somehow found time in his schedule for yet another new gig. The actor/poet/graduate school student/ Rif Raff wannabe announced this morning that he will soon host a series titled James Franco Presents on Ovation… which apparently is a network and everything! In classic James Franco fashion, this is how he confirmed the program: artistic Instagram style! Franco will also serve as executive producer on what is billed via press release as “an unprecedented look at the fascinating projects and real-life adventures of Mr. Franco.” James Franco Presents “will document his provocative explorations of the world of art. From his gallery exhibits to his students’ films, the innovative series will also provide an exclusive opportunity to hear Mr. Franco’s point of view on his most-personal passion projects, most of which have not been seen by the public.” Aside from simply giving this Oscar nominee a platform for himself, the series will highlight up-and-coming artists. In his own words, the star kept a summary of the show nice and simple, writing over social media: It’s a “new TV series about art. Duuuh.”

My 40-Year-Old Child: TLC Show Spotlights Kids Who Don’t Age

The TLC show My 40-Year-Old Child documents a rare and mysterious ailment that stunts development in children, leaving adults looking like kids. Pam Brink, a mom from Marco Island, Fla., has a son who’s 29, but has the body of a 10-year-old and the mental development of a child even younger: Mysterious Condition Slows Aging Brink said her son Jeffrey was diagnosed after she noticed he wasn’t aging the way he was supposed to and was suffering from severe handicaps. “It was hard because there’s a lot of challenges with taking care of a baby, which is what Jeffrey really is,” she told the Huffington Post in an interview. “He’s probably between eight and 12 months as far as needing to be taken care of.” Mary Margret Williams from Billings, Mont., described a similar experience she went through in raising her daughter, 8-year-old Gabby Williams. “We knew from really the get-go that Gabby had something wrong with her,” she said. “Right after she was born, she obviously wasn’t sucking and wasn’t doing all the things she should have done as a baby. … She wasn’t growing or changing.” Attending to the special needs of their children certainly present unique challenges. All the families can do, they say, is work to look for the silver linings in their circumstances, and to give their children the love and attention they need. “I just decided I’m going to love him and take care of him the best I can until I can’t take care of him anymore,” Brinks said of her son. GLAAD Takes a Look At Hollywood, Isn’t Impressed

In its first report on Hollywood, GLAAD has discovered that the representation of gay, lesbian, and transgendered individuals in movies isn’t quite where they’d like it to be. The organization looked at 101 movies and ran them through their Vitto Russo test which looks at whether a character is defined by their sexual orientation or “simply provide colorful commentary, paint urban authenticity, or (perhaps most commonly) set up a punchline.”  Fewer than half of the films “tested” passed the Vitto Russo test, named for the organizations co-founder. The greatest population of LGBT character were of the male Caucasian variety. Lesbians and bisexuals were represented at a much lower percentage. Out of the six major studios, Universal led the charge with four films featuring LGBT characters with 20th Century Fox coming in last with a whopping zero. The report found that most LGBT characters were found in comedies, with studios appearing “reluctant” to cast LGBT characters in action movies and the many superhero films.  Pushing for more representation, GLAAD stated that “When LGBT people or couples are made part of a larger ensemble or even features in brief, casual manner, at the very least it reminds the audience that LGBT people are a part of the same society and present a more accurate portrait of that society.”

North West Picture Reveal: Why Now?

It’s been the pressing question on the minds of celebrity gossip followers everywhere: When will we see the Kim Kardashian baby photos ? And it was finally answered this morning in a most unusual way: Not on a tabloid cover, not in an Instagram posting, not in the pages of Vogue… but on an episode of Kris that will air this Friday. Yes, Kanye West taped an installment of his baby mama mama’s talk show this morning and audience members have confirmed that the first-ever picture of North West flashed on screen at one point. “They didn’t even tell us Kanye was coming on until we were on the set,” someone who was in the crowd tells E! News. “They only showed [North] for a second. They took everyone’s phones away so no one could snap a picture.” But insiders say the wildly anticipated photo will be shown for a far longer period of time during the actual episode. After all the secrecy and all the privacy, why reveal an image of his daughter now? Kanye ” talked to Kris for an hour,” said this same attendee. “He said he had decided he wanted to show the picture of North because they didn’t want to make money on the photo and he is fed up of paps following him around.” We hate to break it to the guy, but we somehow doubt they’ll suddenly stop. West reportedly also gushed over the “family environment” at home and how he leaves events early just to spend time with Kim, Nori and, yes, even Kris. Finally, Kanye told the audience that he’s been “so in love” with Kardashian for years. Just how in love? Double Stuf Oreos: Not Actually Double Stuffed?!?

Dan Anderson has some potentially devastating news for fans of a classic dessert. The Queensbury, New York math teacher asked his students this week to measure the composition of Oreo Double Stuf Cookies in order to test the validity of their name… and the results are anything but encouraging. Following some intense weighing and serious measuring, the high schoolers concluded that the cookies only contain 1.86 times as much filling as a basic Oreo. And while that’s close to double, this isn’t horseshoes or hand grenades, people. The advertised Stuf simply does not measure up. Double Stuf Oreos Controversy And while Anderson’s classroom findings are disputed by, Mondelez International – the snack brand’s parent company – this is eerily reminiscent of a study in January that determined a foot-long Subway sandwich is actually NOT a foot long . Wentworth Miller Comes Out as Gay, Refuses Trip to Russia

Former Prison Break star Wentworth Miller has broken some very personal news about himself: He’s gay. The actor made this public reveal while simultaneously taken a stance against Russia’s anti-homosexual legislation , which bans any sort of “propaganda of nontraditional sexual relations.” In response to an invitation to attend the St. Petersburg International Film Festival, Miller wrote a letter that has been posted on the GLADD website and which reads: “Thank you for your kind invitation. As someone who has enjoyed visiting Russia in the past and can also claim a degree of Russian ancestry, it would make me happy to say yes. However, as a gay man, I must decline.” He continued: “I am deeply troubled by the current attitude toward and treatment of gay men and women by the Russian government. The situation is in no way acceptable, and I cannot in good conscience participate in a celebratory occasion hosted by a country where people like myself are being systematically denied their basic right to live and love openly. “If circumstances improve, I’ll be free to make a different choice.” The anti-gay law in Russia is creating a number of issues for that country, which is preparing to host the Winter Olympics. Earlier this month, a Russian reporter came out on air… and was promptly fired. And earlier this week, two Russian females kissed on the medal stand of the World Athletics Championships, seemingly sending a message to their government.
