A new Star Trek Into Darkness clip has landed. In it, Kirk and Spock argue about whether their ship will fit through a tiny crevasse. I’m guessing it will. Star Trek Into Darkness Clip – Second Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, and Benedict Cumberbatch star in the sequel to 2009’s Star Trek reboot. This time, when Starfleet is attacked, the Enterprise crew embarks on a manhunt to take down the person responsible. Alice Eve, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Anton Yelchin, John Cho, and Simon Pegg also star. J.J. Abrams directs the film, which will hit theaters May 17.
NBA star Dwight Howard is reportedly expecting his fifth baby – with his fifth baby mama – if accusations flying on Twitter this week are to be believed. Howard’s current girlfriend Christine Vest are about to have a baby, according to reports, which would take the Lakers center’s total to five children. By five different women … again, according to reports not confirmed by the baller or any other 100 percent reliable source we can find at the moment. Christine Vest, his girlfriend, was spotted at a recent Lakers game looking pregnant. Like “late second trimester pregnant,” an AOL report noted. Howard and Vest are said to be very happy about the pregnancy. In any case, Howard only has one baby mama of note, and that is Royce Reed , who he’s famously battled for years over custody of son Braylon. If he has three other baby mamas out there, he keeps them pretty well under wraps. It wouldn’t be unheard of, but still seems somewhat unlikely. Consider us cautiously optimistic that at least part of this story is fake. At least we would really hope that it is, for so many different, obvious reasons. If it’s true … DH shoud spend some of his $19.54 million salary on condoms. The price and embarrassment at CVS are a lot cheaper than the alternative.
Parents are generally tasked with imparting sage advice upon their offspring, but in this case, August the toddler seems to be dispensing the pearls of wisdom. The little girl refuses to accept help from her dad when it comes to unbuckling herself from her car seat. Instead, she repeatedly (yet politely) orders him: “Worry about yourself!” Worry About Yourself! A wise and intuitive youngster, this one. Self-sufficiency is a lesson that usually isn’t learned for at least another 10-30 years among American youth these days. So far ahead of the curve.
Following a bad car accident over the weekend in the Tarzana neighborhood of Los Angeles, Kendra Wilkinson was rushed to the hospital. The ex- Playboy centerfold and Splash participant was released yesterday after an examination revealed no serious injuries, though insiders tell Us Weekly Kendra was “in shock” after the crash took place. A rep for the celebrity did not return calls for a comment, but the source confirms Wilkinson was discharged after a couple hours and is now home with husband Hank Baskett and son Hank Baskett IV. Wilkinson dropped out of the ABC diving competition a few weeks ago due to her fear of heights and, ironically, injury. She said the decision will haunt her forever . Yes, that assessment came from someone who was once one of three girlfriend to an 80-year old man in a bathrobe. But we’re glad Kendra is okay.
Who brings a toddler to their sex tape negotiating sessions? Farrah Abraham, that’s who. Seriously … she did that. The Teen Mom star, who doesn’t lack for self-esteem, says she’s an amazing mom. When bringing a little girl to Vivid Entertainment’s offices … other words come to mind. She says that she is negotiating with two other companies for the rights to the Farrah Abraham porn – which she now admits is real – as well as Vivid. One of those, THG can report, is YouPorn … but it’s unclear how close any buyers are to the $2 million price tag she has allegedly placed on the thing. She also brought along her dad to negotiations with Vivid – “for support,” the 21-year-old says – but it’s clear he’s not too thrilled about her sex tape . One can’t even imagine why. It’s one thing to know that James Deen gave it to your daughter six ways from Tuesday … another to sit there and listen to her rehash it and sell the rights. At least she’s open about it … sort of. The funny thing? TMZ interviewed Vivid CEO Steve Hirsch after the meeting with Farrah and even he questioned the wisdom of her bringing Sophia long. When Steve Hirsch is uncomfortable, that says a lot.
Jennifer Lawrence’s first red carpet appearance in months caused fans to do a double-take, and not just because she flubbed Bill Clinton’s name on stage. Check out her new, shorter hairstyle! Looking gorgeous as ever, the 22-year-old attended the GLAAD Media Awards in L.A. Saturday, sporting a side-swept, almost shaggy fringe look. In addition to the change in length, the honey-colored highlights and wavy layering lend a slightly unkempt feel that fits a low-maintenance gal like Jen. Even at an A-list event, it seems to work … right? Are you a fan of Jen’s new hairstyle? Vote! I love it! Looks great on her! I don’t love it, but she’s still gorgeous. Ugh. Not a fan at all! Who came up with that idea?! View Poll »
Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, the 19-year-old suspect in the Boston Marathon bombing suspect captured last night, remains in serious condition as of this morning. He is being treated Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston after being taken into custody in Watertown, Mass., and being transported via ambulance. Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was found hiding in a boat in the driveway of David Henneberry, who grew suspicious after he saw its tarp flapping in the wind. Henneberry went out to investigate when frustrated police lifted the town’s lockdown order around 6 p.m., and he noticed that the tarp had been cut. A closer inspection revealed it was stained with blood. Henneberry investigated further and, according to his stepson, “basically stuck his head under the tarp (and) noticed a pool of blood,” then called 911. Boston Bombing Suspect Shootout in Watertown That’s when law enforcement helicopters, cars and agents swarmed the property and cautiously approached Tsarnaev, who was taken alive around 9 p.m. Authorities reportedly fired on the boat (see video above), but likely only used “flash-bang” rounds in order to disorient the potentially armed suspect. Tsarnaev was not read his Miranda rights because the authorities invoked – or plan to invoke – the “public safety exception” to question him extensively. It’s unclear the extent to which this has occurred yet, but the U.S. Attorney’s Office wants to know about any potential explosive devices or accomplices. Dzhokhar Tsarnaev’s brother, Tamerlan Tsarnaev, 26, died in a gunfight with police early Friday morning, after which his younger sibling escaped. Story developing …
The fugitive Boston Marathon bombing suspect is alive and in custody. Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was captured just moments ago following a massive manhunt in Watertown, Mass. He had evaded capture since late Thursday night. The search for Tsarnaev focused on Watertown, a town just a few miles outside Boston. He was eventually discovered hiding in a boat in a residential yard. NBC News reports that the wanted Boston bombing suspect was found pinned down in the boat, the cover of which showed a tear and blood stain. Law enforcement sources said police had seen the suspect moving from a State Police helicopter, then confirmed the report with infrared technology. They were alerted to his presence by a Watertown resident who walked outside when frustrated officials lifted the lockdown order around 6 p.m. The resident saw the blood, and that some of the cords tying down the tarp over it were cut. He observed moment inside the boat, and called 911. Authorities then formed a perimeter around the Watertown property and are believed to have exchanged gunfire with the suspect while it was still daylight. Watch a raw video taken from a neighboring window of that exchange: Boston Bombing Suspect Shootout in Watertown It is not certain if the suspect fired back, but no officers were injured. As they moved in, they observed Dzhokhar Tsarnaev sit up, and after using “flash bang” stun grenades to disorient and distract him, took him into custody. Officers were acting with extreme caution because they remained concerned that the suspect might be wearing a suicide bomb vest, a source said. Within the last hour, NBC News reported that there was a fire in the boat the bombing suspect was hiding in and that the suspect was bleeding heavily. It was widely assumed by many in the press and on social media that Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was dead, or soon would be as police surrounded him. Not the case. Tsarnaev, 19, was taken away via ambulance and has left the scene (see below, with boat, on Bing maps). State Police have confirmed he is alive. At a news conference, the Boston Police Chief described his condition as serious. Officials speculate that he was wounded early this morning by police – it is not clear how gravely – and has not had access to food or water since. As the thousands of federal, state and local law enforcement now depart, they are doing so to deafening applause and standing ovations from citizens. The U.S. Attorney’s office would not say if Tsarnaev has been Mirandized. The shootout comes after a violent night in which his brother and alleged co-conspirator, Tamerlan Tsarnaev , died in a separate firefight with police. The brothers are believed to have carried out Monday’s Marathon bombings, which killed three people and wounded more than 180 others, some gravely. Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev, 26, also suspected of killing an MIT police officer in his vehicle late Thursday, setting the events of Friday into motion. Authorities in Boston suspended all mass transit and warned close to a million people in the entire city and some of its suburbs to stay indoors today. After it was finally over, law enforcement earned the ultimate hat tip. Obama on Boston Bombing Suspect Arrest President Barack Obama praised authorities and ordinary Bostonians alike in a live press conference from the White House after the massive manhunt. “Tonight, our nation is in debt to the people of Boston,” Obama said, and went on to thank Bostonians as “citizens and partners” in the investigation. The president said this resolution wouldn’t have been possible without close coordination among federal, state and local law enforcement authorities. “They all worked as they should,” Obama said, “as a team.” After promising the victims of the West, Texas fertilizer plant explosion that they weren’t forgotten either, he concluded, in the understatement of all time: “This has been been a tough week.” Story developing … UPDATE, 4/20, 7:00 a.m. : Tsarnaev remains in the hospital, the severity and nature of his condition unclear, according to Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick. Patrick did say that he is “hoping very deeply he survives, because I’ve got a lot of questions and I know investigators have a lot of questions for him.”
Kourtney Kardashian turns 34 years old today, but reality television’s First Family celebrated the occasion last night with an evening of bowling in Los Angeles. And of course the occasion was shared via Instagram, as we see rare shots below of Kim Kardashian and company dressed in duds meant to result in spares, not stares: “Happy birthday to my big sister and mentor,” Kim Tweeted along with these photos. “I love you so much!” Scott Disick and children Mason, 3, and Penelope, 8 months, don’t appear to have taken part in the gathering. But perhaps that was Scott’s present to his baby mama: A night away from the children. And from him as well.
Excerpts from a new book have been released and they echo a previous report regarding Ann Curry and her firing from Today : Matt Lauer may suck, but producers were to blame for the horrible situation at that NBC program. In “Top of the Morning: Inside the Cutthroat World of Morning TV,” Brian Stelter writes that Curry received never-ending flak from those around her, with one staff members telling the author: “A lot of time in the control room was spent making fun of Ann’s outfit choices or just generally messing with her.” Case in point? The yellow dress above, a photo of which employees reportedly posted backstage alongside a picture of Big Bird and the caption: Who Wore It Best? Among other ways in which higher-ups made fun of Curry, according to the book: Executive Producer Jim Bell “commissioned a blooper reel of Curry’s worst on-air mistakes.” Prior to her ousting in June, boxes of Curry’s items went missing and somehow ended up in a coat closet. It was known around the office that Bell wanted to replace Curry with Savannah Guthrie and even referred to the plans to fire her as “Operation Bambi.” Bell has denied these charges, which were published today in The New York Times . As for Curry? She is trying to stay out of the spotlight, hanging out at her family house in Connecticut. The reporter remains “profoundly hurt and humiliated” by her dismissal, Stelter writes, concluding: “She told friends that her final months were a form of professional torture.”
