In an interview with CNN yesterday, former San Francisco 49ers and Oakland Raiders offensive tackle Kwame Harris came out as a homosexual. Harris had been arrested in January for beating an ex-boyfriend and said he underwent significant stress and pressure, keeping his sexuality a secret during his playing days. “You want to escape the despair and turmoil and your mind goes to dark places,” Harris said of keeping his sexuality secret. “I’m happy today, and I’m glad they were just ideas and I didn’t act on any of them. “The cost was great not speak candidly open about myself in complete manner,” Harris said. “If I could have done it differently, I would have hoped I found the strength [to come out].” Harris played for the 49ers from 2003-2007. Ironically, Chris Culliver – a cornerback on that same team this year – got into major trouble two months ago when he denied there were any gay players in his locker room and made disparaging remarks about homosexuals in general. He later apologized and met with a support group for gay, lesbians and bisexuals.
According to authorities, Justin Bieber will likely face criminal battery charges for his argument with an angry neighbor earlier this week. As previously reported, the singer was confronted by Jeff Schwartz – a 47-year old father of three – and berated for driving recklessly around the neighborhood. Both Schwartz, his wife and a third witness claim Bieber spit on his antagonist during the disagreement and had to be restrained by his bodyguard from going after him. Los Angeles County Investigators have looked into the incident and will refer the case to the District Attorney , law enforcement insiders confirm to TMZ. The main reason for prosecution? Officials believe Bieber’s history of disregard for the law – in terms of his driving record and pot smoking – show a pattern of troublesome behavior. They have seen many similar cases in the past of such small law-breaking leading into far more serious conduct down the line. Regardless of there this case goes legally, those within the Sheriff’s Department believe Justin need professional help.

Ernesto Rodriguez has chosen an unusual way to show affection for his pitbull, Duchess. The disabled Iraq war veteran posted a photo to Facebook this week of a tattoo on the canine’s belly. It is a crest meant to signify its bloodline and it has drawn the ire of many animal lovers around the country. “I love my dogs,” Rodriguez told WXII12-TV in Winston-Salem, explaining that Duchess was asleep and sedated when inked. “There’s people out there saying that I’m cruel, that I hurt my dogs, that I don’t love my dogs … that I should be in jail. I paid a lot of money for my dogs and I take care of them.” Having been made aware of the incident, the Stokes County Health Department and Animal Control department visited the owner and did not file any charges. “What a waste of tax payers money,” Rodriguez wrote on Facebook in response to that visit. “So I’m still gonna tattoo my dogs whenever I del like it… good try, haters, thanks for all the advertisement.” And it could be worse, really. Some sad news out of North Carolina today, as Reid Fliehr (stage name Flair), son of wrestling legend Ric Flair, died today at age 25. Flair’s agent released the following statement: “We are heartbroken to confirm that Ric’s son, Reid, has passed away today March 29, 2013 in Charlotte, NC. The investigation into the cause of death is ongoing. Reid was an incredible son, brother, friend, and professional wrestler. No words can describe the grief that Ric and his family are experiencing and they do request privacy during this devastating time.” The cause of death is unknown at this time, though the younger Flair had struggled with heroin in the past. Reid was scheduled to tour with his father after having wrestled in Japan over the last year to improve his skills. It was expected for Reid to join WWE , which his father had recently rejoined, some time in the near future.
