Tara Reid No Longer Able To Introduce Jeff Bridges At The Academy Awards

The greatest thing about the Academy Awards is seeing just what gimmick they will come up with every year in an attempt to boost ratings. This year of course was the selection of the very young, very talented and very easy on the eyes James Franco and Anne Hathaway to host, but it looks like something has been dropped in the process. Yes, everyone, the Oscars are no longer continuing the two year tradition of five presenters, generally former costars, presenting the “Best Actor” and “Actress” nominees (complete with 20 minute masturbatory speeches). Sigh.

Fanboys Rejoice! Shane Black to Direct, Maybe Pen Iron Man 3

Writer-director Shane Black is reportedly in negotiations to direct Iron Man 3 , taking over from series helmer Jon Favreau for the threequel, which is already slated for release on May 3, 2013. But hey, no pressure! Two years should be plenty of time for the guy who wrote Lethal Weapon in six weeks. Besides, Black’s got plenty of qualifications that should inspire fanboy confidence. Report: Mila Kunis to Join James Franco in Sam Raimi’s Oz

Everyone’s favorite Oscar-snubbee Mila Kunis is reportedly set to join Sam Raimi’s Oz, the Great and Powerful , the lonnnnng-gestating Wizard of Oz prequel with James Franco attached as the title character. Kunis would play Evanorah, the young witch-in-training who develops into the Wicked Witch of the East. Of course. Shooting is rumored to begin in July, but I think we all know Raimi’s protracted dawdling really portends an awesome Oz / Sex and the City 3 Memorial Day showdown in 2016. Or something. [ Vulture ]

VIDEO: So That’s Why Hereafter Was Nominated for an Oscar

Perhaps in response to all those people left stymied by Hereafter ‘s Oscar nomination for visual effects (especially when Tron: Legacy got shut out of the category, poor thing), Warner Bros. have released a shot-by-shot reel showing how VFX supervisor Michael Owens and Scanline VFX put together that nine-minute opening tsunami sequence. And when you see how the live-action parts came together combining CG, green screen, water tanks, and on-location photography — well, “Oscar-nominated Hereafter ” doesn’t sound so silly anymore.

Humor! Action! Kat Dennings! Now THIS is a Thor Trailer!

Can we all agree that the Thor marketing materials thus far have been a little less than thrilling? Good. Because now we really have something to look forward to from the Kenneth Branagh-directed Marvel actioner — an epic-scale tent pole set on two worlds with a sense of humor about itself, lots of swirling, hammer-smashing action, fantastical villains and creatures to ogle, and the acknowledged fetishizing of Chris Hemsworth’s abs.

Justin Bieber’s Abortion Quote Gets Rolling Stone Correction

Remember when the Internet had a collective meltdown over what Justin Bieber said about abortion to Rolling Stone ? Well, the magazine apparently made a slight “editing error” (their words) when it came to his answer. “The full quote, his response to whether abortions should be allowed in cases of rape, reads: ‘Um. Well, I think that’s really sad, but everything happens for a reason. I don’t know how that would be a reason . I guess I haven’t been in that position, so I wouldn’t be able to judge that.'” Do with this information what you will. [ Rolling Stone ]
