Newtown Didn’t Happen, Professor Claims

A professor is causing befuddlement and outrage with recent claims that the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Newtown, Conn., did not occur. The Daily Mail reported that James Tracy, a tenured history professor at Florida Atlantic University, wrote this in a lengthy post on his personal blog. Tracy explores what he says is the possibility that the Newtown shooting may not have happened the way that it is widely believed, if it happened at all. The 47-year-old professor bases his claims largely on the flurry of conflicting media reports that were made as news of the shooting was released. The Daily Mail also reported that the school has distanced itself from the professor. “While it sounds outrageous, one is left to inquire whether the Sandy Hook shooting ever took place, at least in the way law enforcement authorities and the news media have described,” he says. On his blog, he hits a number of other conspiracy theories: September 11, the purview of the Department of Homeland Security, the PATRIOT Act, the death of Osama bin Laden and Fukishima. In his latest shocking claim, he focuses much of his attention on the fact that early reports claimed that police were either searching for or had two suspects in custody. The story then progressed that Ryan Lanza was the lone gunman, based reportedly on the identification that the shooter had on him at the time of the attack. Ryan, 24, was then found at his home in Hoboken, N.J. – two states away from where his 20-year-old brother Adam, the actual shooter, committed the atrocities. Police say Adam Lanza opened fire inside the Connecticut elementary school, killing 20 children and six adults. Police say Lanza then killed himself.

Shook Ones: NY Newspaper That Printed Gun Owners Home Addresses Hires Armed Guards To Protect Headquarters!

Oh, the muhfuggin irony Newspaper That Printed Gun Owners Addresses Hires Armed Guards Via ABCNews The New York newspaper that printed a map with all of the names of residents who have handgun permits has hired armed security to patrol its headquarters. The Journal News, which covers Rockland, Westchester, and Putnam Counties in New York, faced a backlash from readers after publishing the names of residents who had handgun permits registered to their names. The newspaper created an interactive map which showed permit owners’ names and addresses, which they posted on Dec. 23, 2011, as part of their coverage of the Newtown, Conn., school shooting. The Gannett-owned paper received a wave of angry comments in which readers published the names and addresses of reporters and editors at the paper. Caryn McBride, the Rockland editor for the newspaper, filed a report with the Clarkstown police about the “negative correspondence” received by the newspaper in response to the map. On Dec. 28, she reported that she received an email from an unknown sender who wrote that he “wondered what McBride would get in her mail now.” What the fawk did you expect?!?! The report also noted that RGA Investigations, a private security firm, had been hired by the paper to perform security services in the wake of the controversy. The company’s “employees are armed and will be on site during business hours through at least January 2, 2013,” the report said. No security problems have been reported at the newspaper’s offices. SMH, Still can’t believe some dumb-azz editor thought that printing these folks addresses would be a good idea. They gon’ learn today! Image via Shutterstock

Philadelphia Mayor Says Putting Armed Guards In Elementary Schools Is A “Dumba** Idea”

Do you agree? Philadelphia Mayor Speaks Out Against NRA ‘Armed Guards In Schools’ Idea As the debate on gun control heats up, Philadephia mayor Michael Nutter has added his two cents. via Huffington Post Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter on Wednesday slammed the National Rifle Association’s proposal to put an armed guard in every school in the wake of the Newtown, Conn., school shooting, calling it a “completely dumbass idea.” “I guess, you know, out of last week’s bizarre press statement — it wasn’t a press conference — I guess Mr. [Wayne] LaPierre would then say firefighters need to have armed guards go with them,” Nutter said on MSNBC’s “Andrea Mitchell Reports.” I think it just shows that was a completely dumbass idea from the start with the announcement last week,” he said. Nutter was referring to the briefing held Friday by LaPierre, the NRA’s vice president, in which he called for armed guards at every school in the wake of the Newtown tragedy. “The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun,” LaPierre said. Would you feel safer knowing that there were armed guards in your child’s school? Image via Shutterstock

11-Year-Old Boy Brings Gun To School And Tells Classmates His Parents Gave It To Him For Protection Following Newtown Massacre

SMH !!!!! Utah Boy Brings Gun To School Following Newtown Tragedy A 6th grade student brought an unloaded handgun to West Kearns Elementary School Monday. Via Fox 13 reports: The 11-year-old boy allegedly told other students his parents encouraged him to bring a gun to school for protection following the shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut on Friday. The boy reportedly pulled the gun, a .22-caliber pistol, out of his backpack during recess Monday morning. “At recess, he pointed a gun to my head and said he was going to kill me,” said Isabel Rios, one of the boy’s fellow 6th grade students. Granite School District officials say students didn’t notify teachers about the weapon until 3 p.m. “Once the teacher knew there was a weapon in the classroom, the student was apprehended in 30 to 45 seconds and immediately brought down to the office and the police were on site within five to 10 minutes,” said Granite School District Spokesman Ben Horsley. Granite School District sent a pre-recorded message via telephone to the parents of West Kearns Elementary students at 5:30 p.m. By then, some of those parents had already heard about the incident from their children. “There was no lockdown. No one was called. Nothing was done. And then we had to hear it from our kids,” said John Klaus, the father of a student at West Kearns Elementary. School administrators said they didn’t lock the school down because the gun was taken into possession quickly and they felt a lockdown would have scared the students. Jesus take the guns!!!!!

Westboro Baptist Church Plan To Protest Funerals Of Newtown Elementary Children And Claims “God Sent The Shooter”

GET THESE IDIOTS OUTTA HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Westboro Baptist Church To Protest Newtown Funerals The scum of the Earth, Westboro Baptist Church , controversial group known for protesting outside funerals of slain U.S. service members, announced that it will picket a vigil for the victims of Friday’s Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting … Via HuffingtonPost reports: Shirley Phelps-Roper, a spokesperson for the group and, like most members of the organization, a relative of the group’s founder, Fred Phelps, announced on Twitter on Saturday the group’s plan “to sing praise to God for the glory of his work in executing his judgment.” It is unclear when the group plans to protest, although a tweet from Margie Phelps implied that it would be during a vigil that will be attended by President Barack Obama on Sunday evening. Members of the Westboro Baptist Church say that America is being punished for its acceptance of gays and lesbians. In recent days, Phelps family members have sent tweets about the Connecticut shooting that have said “God sent the shooter.” Not surprisingly, the group’s announcement was met with resistance online. A Change.org petition asking for Connecticut officials to prevent the group from protesting has been launched, and users of the social news and link sharing site Reddit have been discussing ways to stage a counter-protest. Meanwhile, efforts by the computer hacking group known as ‘Anonymous’ are allegedly attempting to take the Westboro Baptist Church website down through what is described as #OpWestBoro on Twitter. However, as of 8:30 EST, the church’s website is still working. A YouTube video, purportedly from Anonymous, warns Westboro of being targeted by the hacktivists. THIS IS JUST DISGUSTING!!!!!!!!!!! These people are not Christians nor is this the work of God, Allah, Buddah or anything resembling morality or goodness. The word Christian means to be Christ-like and Jesus Christ was a loving person. So it’s basically an oxymoron, for example saying “That good person shot 27 angels in the school.” and “The WBC are Christians.” To sign the petition to legally recognize The Westboro Baptist Church as a hate group click HERE

Adam Lanza: Did He Preview School Shooting on 4Chan?

Did Connecticut school shooting perpetrator Adam Lanza preview Friday’s stunning massacre on the online forum / bulletin board 4Chan two nights beforehand? That’s the rumor going around, anyway. In the following 4Chan forum exchange, an anonymous user purported to be Lanza makes an ominous promise that he will kill himself Friday and it will make the news. He adds that he lives in Connecticut. The below screen grabs from 4Chan have been censored, but also appear to show other users egging Adam Lanza on (if it’s really him). Take a look … State and federal officials are still putting together the pieces of one of the worst mass murders in U.S. history and the 20-year-old who shockingly carried it out. The first Adam Lanza photos released last night, in all their boyish innocence, belie the violent thoughts he apparently harbored – and acted upon. Horrifying. For all the debate over gun control – and you can expect plenty of that – it is beyond tragic that no one saw, or maybe even could see, how troubled this young man was. Twenty-seven people were killed, including Lanza, who began the day by shooting his own mother in the face, allegedly with weapons registered in her name.

Gun Control: Time to Get Serious?

The horrific shooting at the Newtown, Conn., elementary school that left 28 dead, including 20 children, has re-ignited a polarizing debate over gun control. If nothing else, it’s time to get very, very serious about discussing the issue. Public figures immediately jumped in to offer condolences in the wake of the mass murder committed by Adam Lanza , while some called for new restrictions. Plenty of others, while clearly sympathetic to the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre, defended gun rights and the 2nd Amendment. President Barack Obama, who cried during a press conference regarding the shooting Friday, did not touch upon the controversial issue of gun control by name. He did, though, sound a call to prevent further tragedies, regardless of politics. New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said he was “shocked and saddened” by the tragic shooting. He said society should “unify” to “crack down on the guns.” N.Y. City Mayor Michael Bloomberg said “immediate action” was needed. Mark Kelly, husband of former Arizona Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, who was gravely injured by a gunman in Tucson in 2011, wrote on Facebook: “The children of Sandy Hook Elementary School and all victims of gun violence deserve leaders who have the courage to participate in a meaningful discussion about gun laws.” “How can they be reformed and enforced to prevent violence and death in America?” Many believe the CT school shooting tragedy is just the latest, preventable case of a bullied, disgrunted and/or mentally ill person taking lives that could’ve been saved. Directly or indirectly, are guns too readily available to the perpetrators? Fewer guns, tougher laws, fewer tragedies, right? Take away the availability and fewer weapons will fall into the wrong hands at the wrong times. Right? Lots of people would agree with that theory, but not necessarily a majority. The debate has been fast and furious in the past 24 hours, and not one-sided. Trending topics on Twitter included “2nd Amendment,” “NRA” and “Columbine.” For every argument about the 2nd Amendment being antiquated is a counter-argument about its necessity, and its place in the foundation of American liberty. Some gun rights advocates believe this tragedy epitomizes the need for gun rights , not gun control, as a means of protection against those who may act violently. One Twitter user wrote, “The only gun reform we need is to allow people the ability to defend themselves, not provide nut jobs with easy targets #NRA.” Another posted, “Guns don’t kill people people do! Practice the 2nd Amendment – keep your gun loaded with you at all times – the younger you are the better.” Philosophically, gun rights activists feel that gun control takes away another piece of our liberty, starting a slippery slope toward socialism and totalitarianism. From a practical standpoint, they argue that criminals will always find a way to obtain guns, and that only law-abiding citizens would abide by regulations anyway. Furthermore, they feel crimes are just as often prevented by the deterrent of gun possession, and a dangerous black market would develop in the event of tougher laws. In light of recent events, and the arguments above, what do you think? Comment and vote below: Is it time to pass major gun control laws?   YES. Fewer guns, fewer tragedies! NO. It’s unconstitutional and won’t stop anything! View Poll »
