Nevertheless, the Brooklyn troll rapper is making the best of his time, creating music and getting healthier. Silver linings, right? Reports TMZ : Sources close to 6ix9ine tell TMZ … Tekashi’s spending most of his time behind bars writing and producing songs for his next album. He’s even created visuals for the record. We’re told the circumstances of his incarceration have worked in his favor. A bus fight between students in Gulfport, Florida is causing ripples today through the Internet, partly due to the savage nature of the beating… but largely due to the actions of the bus driver who witnessed it. As the video below depicts, John Moody is heard calling authorities for help and telling them to get “somebody here quick, quick, quick.” But Moody himself just stands around and watches three 15-year olds attack a 13-year old, eventually breaking his arm and stealing his money. School Bus Fight: Caught on Tape! Reports say the 13-year old had earlier told school officials that one of the attackers had tried to sell him drugs. The unnamed 15-year olds were arrested and charged with aggravated battery. According to Pinellas County school policy, a bus driver is not required to intervene when a fight breaks out, only to call dispatch. “The three boys just jumped on him and started pounding on him and I did all can,” Moody said . “I was looking. It was like I was in shock. I was petrified.” The 64-year old, who retired two weeks after the incident, allegedly did not even help the victim even after the perpetrators left. “There was clearly an opportunity for him to intervene and or check on the welfare of the children or the child in this case and he didn’t make any effort to do so,” Gulfport Police Chief Robert Vincent says. Moody is not expected to be charged with a crime, however.
Did Connecticut school shooting perpetrator Adam Lanza preview Friday’s stunning massacre on the online forum / bulletin board 4Chan two nights beforehand? That’s the rumor going around, anyway. In the following 4Chan forum exchange, an anonymous user purported to be Lanza makes an ominous promise that he will kill himself Friday and it will make the news. He adds that he lives in Connecticut. The below screen grabs from 4Chan have been censored, but also appear to show other users egging Adam Lanza on (if it’s really him). Take a look … State and federal officials are still putting together the pieces of one of the worst mass murders in U.S. history and the 20-year-old who shockingly carried it out. The first Adam Lanza photos released last night, in all their boyish innocence, belie the violent thoughts he apparently harbored – and acted upon. Horrifying. For all the debate over gun control – and you can expect plenty of that – it is beyond tragic that no one saw, or maybe even could see, how troubled this young man was. Twenty-seven people were killed, including Lanza, who began the day by shooting his own mother in the face, allegedly with weapons registered in her name.
The horrific shooting at the Newtown, Conn., elementary school that left 28 dead, including 20 children, has re-ignited a polarizing debate over gun control. If nothing else, it’s time to get very, very serious about discussing the issue. Public figures immediately jumped in to offer condolences in the wake of the mass murder committed by Adam Lanza , while some called for new restrictions. Plenty of others, while clearly sympathetic to the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre, defended gun rights and the 2nd Amendment. President Barack Obama, who cried during a press conference regarding the shooting Friday, did not touch upon the controversial issue of gun control by name. He did, though, sound a call to prevent further tragedies, regardless of politics. New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said he was “shocked and saddened” by the tragic shooting. He said society should “unify” to “crack down on the guns.” N.Y. City Mayor Michael Bloomberg said “immediate action” was needed. Mark Kelly, husband of former Arizona Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, who was gravely injured by a gunman in Tucson in 2011, wrote on Facebook: “The children of Sandy Hook Elementary School and all victims of gun violence deserve leaders who have the courage to participate in a meaningful discussion about gun laws.” “How can they be reformed and enforced to prevent violence and death in America?” Many believe the CT school shooting tragedy is just the latest, preventable case of a bullied, disgrunted and/or mentally ill person taking lives that could’ve been saved. Directly or indirectly, are guns too readily available to the perpetrators? Fewer guns, tougher laws, fewer tragedies, right? Take away the availability and fewer weapons will fall into the wrong hands at the wrong times. Right? Lots of people would agree with that theory, but not necessarily a majority. The debate has been fast and furious in the past 24 hours, and not one-sided. Trending topics on Twitter included “2nd Amendment,” “NRA” and “Columbine.” For every argument about the 2nd Amendment being antiquated is a counter-argument about its necessity, and its place in the foundation of American liberty. Some gun rights advocates believe this tragedy epitomizes the need for gun rights , not gun control, as a means of protection against those who may act violently. One Twitter user wrote, “The only gun reform we need is to allow people the ability to defend themselves, not provide nut jobs with easy targets #NRA.” Another posted, “Guns don’t kill people people do! Practice the 2nd Amendment – keep your gun loaded with you at all times – the younger you are the better.” Philosophically, gun rights activists feel that gun control takes away another piece of our liberty, starting a slippery slope toward socialism and totalitarianism. From a practical standpoint, they argue that criminals will always find a way to obtain guns, and that only law-abiding citizens would abide by regulations anyway. Furthermore, they feel crimes are just as often prevented by the deterrent of gun possession, and a dangerous black market would develop in the event of tougher laws. In light of recent events, and the arguments above, what do you think? Comment and vote below: Is it time to pass major gun control laws? YES. Fewer guns, fewer tragedies! NO. It’s unconstitutional and won’t stop anything! View Poll »
Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez are no longer an item. That much we know. But what happened between the adorable young couple? Details are only just beginning to spill out. Asked about the split over the weekend, Bieber sounded legitimately perplexed. He then went on stage and covered ” Cry Me a River ,” a track Justin Timberlake penned about a cheating Britney Spears. Hmmm… However, a couple of Gomez’s former Wizards of Waverly Place co-stars have come out not just in defense of Selena, but on the offense against Bieber. “All woman [sic] should be treated with respect!” David DeLuise Tweeted yesterday, addressing Justin directly. “Listen up boy.” Added Jennifer Stone, who played Selena’s best friend on that show, in a reference to Gomez being two years older than Bieber: “That’s why you don’t rob the cradle, because babe’s be trippin’.” Damn. Pretty harsh words. What do you think went down between Justin and Selena? Demi Lovato , meanwhile, didn’t lay the blame for the break up on anyone. She just aimed to pick her pal up, writing to Gomez: “When you are in the dumps, look around at all the things you have to be thankful for. Sometimes we’re gonna have our bad days, but we must continue to work to be great. Keep smiling. It looks beautiful on you!” Amen, Demi. Then again, if Bieber cheated on Gomez with Barbara Palvin … WHOSE SIDE ARE YOU ON IN THIS SPLIT? Team Justin Team Selena View Poll »
The already-intense NASCAR Sprint Cup race took an unexpected and violent turn this weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway when a melee broke out in the put. There was no love lost between Jeff Gordon and Clint Bowyer, who bumped cars several times … and whose teams erupted into a fight. Watch the video below: Clint Bowyer-Jeff Gordon Crew Fight in Garage! Following some unpleasant run-ins with Bowyer this year, Gordon appeared to get even with Bowyer by slowing down and purposefully clipping his rear fender. That incident sent both cars careening into the wall, then sent the pit crews of the respective drivers into a frenzy as pushing, shoving and fisticuffs ensued. Gordon was quickly ushered away from the fight, but the chaos continued unabated for some time; it’s unclear what punishment(s) the perpetrators may face.
This azzhole… Geraldo Rivera Says Chicago Violence Is Due To “Thug Wear” Geraldo Rivera just doesn’t know when to quit. The TV personality made headlines months ago when he claimed Trayvon Martin was killed because of his hoodie not because of his race. Now, Rivera is standing by his statement, reports The Root. Rivera appeared on Fox News on Friday to discuss Chicago’s rising murder rate. He claims that some of the city’s homicides occurred because victims wore “thug wear.” He went on to say, “I was right about the hoodie wasn’t I. I hate to brag but I got criticized by every pundit in America when I said Trayvon Martin would be alive but for the fact that he was wearing thug wear… he was was wearing the hoodie. Turns out now that we look at George Zimmerman’s interviews with the police; he didn’t profile Trayvon Martin because he was Black, he profiled him because he was wearing a hoodie… he was a strange kid wearing the same garb like other perpetrators of house break-ins in this community.” For all the education this guy has, he says some of the dumbest isht in the fawking world! Glenn Kenny didn’t quite make the cut in last week’s scathing critical responses to Jack and Jill , but his withering postscript deserves a look: “One thing I did not get into in my review of Jack and Jill for MSN Movies was just how (ostensibly) insultingly sub-pro forma is its actual filmmaking. It isn’t even just a matter of how obviously its indifferent redemption-narrative structure is the Avid-enabled equivalent of a very sloppy butter sculpture. The indifference is felt in almost every aspect [… T]his is the first time it really hit home for me just how mindful Sandler, director Dennis Dugan, and the rest of the perpetrators are with respect to keeping overhead down. Good lord.” [ Some Came Running ]
Police just raided the Discovery Channel headquarters, where a man had taken hostages, and was apparently demanding that the channel air radical environmental propaganda. The man, James Jay Lee, pictured right, was reportedly shot and killed . Though most of the details remain unclear, one fact is quickly coming into sharp focus: the left will be working overtime in the next few days to spin this event any way they can. It began with this astoundingly dishonest Think Progress headline: ” Purported Eco-Terrorist Angered Over ‘Immigration Pollution And Anchor Baby Filth’ ” That’s right, of Lee’s thousand-word manifesto in which he stated his demands of Discovery, Think Progress chose to highlight not the radical, militant environmentalism he espoused, but rather an obscure claim (in terms of overall message and word count) that immigrants to developed nations make the pollution situation worse. Notably, Think Progress thought it was worth comparing Lee’s position on this single issue to other groups that have made similar claims, but did not see fit to liken him groups of environmental activists who also think overpopulation is the problem (Tom Friedman, please call your office). Lee also said war was bad for the environment. Will Think Progress condemn anti-war groups that make similar claims? Conservative bloggers predicted this line of attack since before it even emerged. Patterico pontificated : “They’ll find a way to label him a right-winger – or at least a Tea Partier. Somehow.” Indeed. Ace chimed in with his prediction: “You know how the media will report this, right? That’s right: Anti-immigration extremist.” Give the man a cigar. But while it’s hardly a surprise that the far-left is spinning the story as hard as they can, the question remains: will liberal journalists who often rip stories from Think Progress repeat this bogus line? Will even the mainstream media pick up on this blatantly dishonest meme, and play up the immigration aspect while ignoring the larger message of environmental extremism? For the media, the event is a bit of a role-reversal. Journalists who purported that militias or other perpetrators or advocates of violence against the government were products of a conservative/libertarian attitude embodied by the Tea Party movement are now put in the awkward position of having to apply that same logic to Lee and his radical environmentalism. By the same line of argument, pundits who relentlessly push the notion that human beings are responsible for the impending apocalypse due to their refusal to moderate their population or change their lifestyles are responsible, at least in part, for today’s violence. The media may also choose to simply ignore the environmental aspect and focus on his immigration views, employing the same logic it has used to condemn the Tea Party movement. We will see. You can help NB monitor media coverage of the situation. If you think you see bias at work, leave a note and link in the comments.
