Nicki Minaj Toasts Her Hottest MCs Ranking On ‘Roman Reloaded’

‘Hottest MCs top five/ You need money, I got mines,’ Nicki Minaj raps on upcoming album’s title track. By Rob Markman Nicki Minaj Photo: MTV News / Getty Images Nicki Minaj let off another shot Thursday night (February 23). We’re still more than a month out from Nicki’s April 3 release date for Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded, but the Young Money beauty is continuing to release new music at a manic pace. First, there was the schizophrenic “Roman in Moscow.” Then, the tongue-in-cheek “Stupid Hoe.” Nick then chose the Grammy Awards to debut her, um, spirited “Roman Holiday” single, and on Valentine’s Day, she dropped the RedOne-produced pop affair “Starships.” On Thursday, Minaj gave New York’s Hot 97 DJ Funk Master Flex the green light to premiere her latest single, “Roman Reloaded,” featuring Lil Wayne. “I guess I went commercial, just shot a commercial/ When I flew to the set, though, I ain’t fly commercial,” Nicki raps on the kinetic track. Flex — who is known to brag and boast when he plays an exclusive record — dropped his signature bomb sound effect countless times before he got past Minaj’s opening bars. The veteran DJ taunted his competitors for several minutes with the exclusive before playing the record in its entirety. “Roman Reloaded” seems to be a return to the hard-core rap style Nicki first entered the game with on mixtapes like Beam Me Up Scotty. Not only does the reigning rap queen throw shots at other rap chicks, she puts all her accomplishments on full display shouting out Mattel and their commemorative Nicki Minaj Barbie doll and toasting her inclusion on MTV News’ Hottest MCs in the Game VII list. On Sunday, during a half-hour special on MTV2, the YMCMB queen was announced as the #4 Hottest MC , and she must have hit the vocal booth soon after to lay the vocals. “Hottest MCs top five/ You need money, I got mines,” she spit with an unwavering confidence. It’s all wrapped up with a simple-but-menacing hook. “Bang-ba-bang-bang, my clique bangs,” she raps in between her cocky verses. To cap it all off, YM boss Lil Wayne jumps on the drum-driven street hit with free-associative rhymes about popping pills and sexing groupies. How the title track will fit on Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded remains to be seen, but as a standalone, it proves that when it comes to simply spewing rap bars, Nicki Minaj is still the queen bee. Adele Breaks Record With 21 Weeks at #1

Even the late Whitney Houston was unable to oust Adele from the #1 spot on the Billboard album chart, as the UK singer’s album set a new high water mark this week. Adele’s album, 21, fittingly took the top spot for a record 21st straight week. The previous title holder at 20 weeks? The Bodyguard soundtrack, by Whitney Houston . 21 is now the longest running No. 1 album by a woman. Boosted by her six Grammy awards and performance comeback, Adele’s 21 saw its best sales in 52 weeks on the U.S. chart, selling 730,000 copies just last week. 21 features hits “Rolling in the Deep” and “Someone Like You” and has now sold over 18 million copies worldwide since its release in Feb. 2011, Columbia Records said. The 23-year-old singer/songwriter also saw a surge in sales for her debut album, 19 , which sold 87,000 copies, while Houston has seen major posthumous sales. Seven of Houston’s albums re-entered the Billboard chart this week, led by Whitney: The Greatest Hits compilation at No. 2, selling an impressive 175,000 copies. Her self-titled album sold 17,000 to take the 37th spot. Houston’s “I Will Always Love You” single took the No. 2 spot in the Billboard Digital Songs Chart.

Kate Gosselin: So Sad, So Lonely!

Kate Gosselin still doesn’t know if she is ready to move on. It’s been nearly two years since she separated from her ex Jon Gosselin, and the mother of eight sat down with Dr. Drew Wednesday for a tearful, candid interview. The usually stoic 36-year-old got choked up, confessing that the single life “so lonely” and saying it would take a very special man to take on eight kids now. Even if one wanted to, she isn’t sure she can handle that. Kate Gosselin Cries on Dr. Drew When asked “Do you have a love life?’ Kate replied: “No. I’m too busy.” “A lot of my friends who are being constructive say ‘gosh, who are you going to meet that is going to be able to deal with eight kids?’ My answer’s always if they can deal with eight children in our situation it probably will be the person. It will sort of prove it.” Dr. Drew pushed Kate further, asking: “You’re tough but don’t you want somebody in your life?” To which she replied: “Absolutely! The odds are so against me.” “I mean, I don’t expect someone to come in and financially provide for my kids, I mean, they’re mine, that’s my job. So, just to have somebody there…” “One mom and eight kids … so it would be great. I mean, I’m so lonely. I clean up the house, put the kids to bed and there I sit. Ideally I would find that person.” “I mean, I just don’t know if I feel ready for that.” Guys, would you date Kate Gosselin ?

Nicki Minaj Goes Blue in Vogue

Nicki Minaj is feeling blue in the latest issue of Vogue . Not because Lil Kim believes her to be a stupid hoe . But because she’s literally painted blue. See what we mean: The controversial singer says she’s a “happy camper,” style wise, if she “can combine designer things with other things.” There was a time, however, when she was spending $50,000 per month – yes, $50,000 per month – on “Giuseppe, Versace, YSL, and Fendi shoes. And I bought tons of Vuitton bags. When you’re a young girl from Queens, you’re going to stock up on those bags.” The latest edition of Vogue on on sale now. It features Adele on the cover .

Nicki Minaj is Blue in Vogue of the Day

Nicki Minaj is so contemporary….She’s painted herself for Vogue like she was in Avatar…fucking innovation right here motherfuckers….even if her innovation forces the public to realize despite being full of shit, she’s not actually brown…or as you americans call it black. Sure her parents may be of African decent so she claims for rap legitimacy like Drake….but she’s whiter than Gaga…as white a suburban mall….as white a professional acting classes to be like Angelina…white….doing photoshoots like you’re in Avatar…white….nothing about her is original, urban, or inspiring… Except maybe her big tits but those come with a weight problem….and what it comes down to is that she looks best in this video…..

Lil Wayne Proves It’s Still Wayne’s World As #5 Hottest MC

The Martian’s double-platinum album and star-studded YMCMB roster land him firmly on MTV News’ Hottest MCs in the Game VII list. By MTV News staff Lil Wayne Photo: Getty Images On Tha Carter IV, Lil Wayne raps about his “Nightmares of the Bottom.” While the sentiment revealed a humbler side of Tunechi, the Martian reached astronomical heights in 2011 and lands in the top half of MTV News’ Hottest MCs in the Game VII list. But Weezy’s winning year was even more impressive when you consider that the Cash Money soldier spent most of 2010 behind bars . With little time to prepare, Wayne hit 2011 hard beginning with the smash rap single (and Carter IV lead track) “6 Foot 7 Foot.” As with many albums, C4 saw a ton of delays, but Weezy made up for things with his Sorry 4 the Wait mixtape . When the fourth installment of the Carter series finally arrived on August 28 (after a show-closing VMA performance), Wayne moved 964,000 copies in a single week, just barely missing the platinum-in-a-week mark he hit with 2008’s Carter III. Want to join the debate? Just hit us on Twitter using the hashtag #HottestMC! “Wayne had a strong year; almost a million in a week doesn’t lie,” said Yomi Desalu, MTV’s senior director of music and talent. “He’s definitely remained relevant for the whole year and once he came out, he hit the ground running.” HOT STREAK Album: Tha Carter IV Selected Mixtapes: Sorry 4 the Wait Singles: “How to Love,” “She Will” (featuring Drake), “Mirror” (featuring Bruno Mars) Street Bangers: “6 Foot 7 Foot” (featuring Cory Gunz), “John” (featuring Rick Ross) Key Guest Appearances: Kelly Rowland’s “Motivation,” B.o.B’s “Strange Clouds,” Ace Hood’s “Hustle Hard” (remix), Drake’s “The Motto” Meteoric Metrics: Wayne’s #1 Carter IV moved 964,000 copies in its first week and has been certified double-platinum by the RIAA Business Ventures: Young Money CEO continued to clock dollars off record sales from Drake and Nicki Minaj; launched Trukfit clothing line Tours: I Am Still Music run took Wayne across three continents and raked in $47 million Monumental Moment: Hours after closing out the MTV VMAs in August, Tunechi released Tha Carter IV, earning a platinum plaque in just 14 days. Forecast: Wayne should continue to dominate in 2012. YM president Mack Maine predicted that Weezy will drop sequels to Rebirth and I Am Not a Human Being, and Tha Carter V is always a possibility. “I think that’s an understatement, that he remained relevant. I think that he maintained his dominance,” said Rob Markman, MTV News’ senior hip-hop writer. When we talk about Wayne, nobody [has] sold a million in a week — since Lil Wayne. Quite frankly, I think #4 is too low.” It was another banner year for Wayne. His first-week sales were higher than that of any other rap artist and his I Am Still Music Tour, Video Music Award performance and “MTV Unplugged” special proved that the YMCMB CEO was as impactful as ever. Granted, Weezy’s 2011 style and swag were an acquired taste (see his VMA animal-print jeggings and the day-Glo-green moon boots he sported in Drake’s “Motto” video), but his lyrical prowess on songs like “It’s Good” could not be denied. Some members of the Hip-Hop Brain Trust insisted that the Wayne train had lost a bit of steam though. “You talk about Sorry 4 the Wait, people were disappointed that it wasn’t No Ceilings. People were disappointed that Tha Carter IV was not Tha Carter III, ” said MTV Jams’ Tuma Basa. A few even contended that Weezy was riding off of the success of his Young Money artists Nicki Minaj and Drake. Did the students surpass the teacher? One roundtable panelist argued that Nicki the Ninja, who debuted on the “Hottest MCs” list at #6 in 2010 , had bested her sensei. “I definitely think over the past year Nicki’s singles have actually resonated with her fans. I don’t think any of Wayne’s songs [have] — if you want to say ‘John’ that’s a Rick Ross record; if you want to say ‘She Will,’ it was a Drake record,” said Steven Roberts, a producer/writer at MTV News. The Wayne/Nicki argument became so strong in fact that moderator and show host Sway Calloway decided to take a vote. In a most surprising turn, six of the nine experts elected to move Nicki Minaj up to the #4 spot and Lil Wayne down to #5. Still, no matter how you slice the pie, it’s all Young Moola, baby! LeBron Shoots And Slooooores! James Confirms He’s Thinking About Going Back To Cleveland

This man is the sports version of Kim Kardashian. LeBron wants to stir controversy and stupidity whenever he gets a chance. “I think it would be great, it would be fun to play in front of these fans again,” James said after the Heat’s practice Thursday at Quicken Loans Arena. “I had a lot of fun times here. You can’t predict the future. Hopefully you continue to stay healthy. I’m here as a Miami player and I’m happy where I am now but I don’t rule that out in any sense. If I decide to come back, hopefully the fans will accept me.” Dwyane Wade, who helped convince James to leave Cleveland two years ago, admitted he could see James coming back — but not in the near future. “Anything is possible,” Wade said. “Hopefully I’m retired.” D Wade should have just smacked LeBron across his fading hairline and tell him to stop being such a slore.
