Dancing With the Stars: Chelsea Kane a Shoe-In, Kirstie Alley Shoe Comes Off

A week ago, Kirstie Alley fell to the floor, only to make a full recovery on Dancing With the Stars. Unfortunately, she suffered another mishap last night. This time, it was a footwear malfunction. Kirstie and Maksim Chmerkovskiy had to fight through more adversity as Alley’s left shoe fell off in mid-waltz. Just like the previous week, they recovered well enough to earn a respectable score – 22 out of 30 – plus sympathy and respect from fans and judges. Kirstie Alley Loses Shoe on Dancing With the Stars “You didn’t miss a beat,” said Carrie Ann Inaba. Bruno Tonioli agreed, while Len Goodman was less impressed, pointing out the need for improvement. Still, we’d be surprised if Kirstie and Maks were in jeopardy after a second straight week of bouncing back strongly from a somewhat freakish setback. Another gal who should be safe? Disney starlet Chelsea Kane and Mark Ballas, whose Viennese waltz earned them the top score of the night at 26. Watch it, and check out the full scoreboard, after the jump … Chelsea Kane and Mark Ballas – DWTS Week 4 That put them just ahead of the Hines Ward and Kym Johnson and Ralph Macchio and Karina Smirnoff. Both of those couples notched scores of 25. Len grumbled about Chelsea’s unorthodox choreography, but technically, the judges could not deny that Kane’s was the best dance of the night. At the bottom of the heap and definitely at risk of elimination tonight are Kendra Wilkinson and Louis van Amstel, who bombed with an 18. Here’s last night’s scoreboard … Chelsea Kane and Mark Ballas: 26 Ralph Macchio and Karina Smirnoff: 25 Hines Ward and Kym Johnson: 25 Chris Jericho and Cheryl Burke: 23 Petra Nemcova and Dmitry Chaplin: 23 Romeo and Chelsie Hightower: 23 Kirstie Alley and Maksim Chmerkovskiy: 22 Sugar Ray Leonard and Anna Trebunskya: 21 Kendra Wilkinson and Louis Van Amstel: 18 Who do you think is going home this evening? Does Kendra have the fan support to overcome that lack of score? It will be interesting to see. After four weeks and two eliminations (three tonight), who do you think will win Dancing With the Stars? Vote in our survey:

There’s been a whole lot of talk about Helen Mirren recently, with the Caligula(1979) , Excalibur(1981) and Calendar Girls(2003) star leaving her mark in the cement outside Grauman’s Chinese Theater in Los Angeles, co-starring with Russell Brand in the remake of Arthur , and even revealing her love of hooker heels . This weekend she added to the buzz by hosting Saturday Night Live , where she confirmed what admirers of her anatomy have known since Age of Consent (1969) – that the fastest route to heaven is through Helen Mirren ‘s outstanding (and all-natural!) rack. Charlie Sheen, Special Guests Rock NYC

Forget Carmelo Anthony. It turns out Charlie Sheen is the best rebounder in New York. Following a disastrous performance at Radio City Music Hall Friday evening, the actor returned to the same venue on Saturday and told an enthusiastic crowd: “Friday night got a little f*cking hijacked because I let people get into my magic f**king brain.” Well, sure. That happens to all of us. Sheen chucked his script from the outset and roamed around the audience a bit throughout the show. He also welcomed a pair of random, special guests on to the stage: Former baseball player Darryl Strawberry. Inside the Actors’ Studio host James Lipton. The latter even asked Charlie one of the questions he poses to guests at the conclusion of every episode: What’s your favorite curse word? Sheen’s response: “Either f*ck or Denise.” Okay. That’s pretty funny. Other tidbits from the night include: Sheen admitting Chuck Lorre “doesn’t completely suck” and saying he wants to return to Two and a Half Men . Even claims he’ll write the sitcom an apology. Sheen seeing an ex-girlfriend in the crowd and giving her a kiss. Sheen apologizing for every saying Jon Cryer was a troll . Sheen uttering these mysterious words near the end of the performance: “I discovered crack and the internet in the same weekend. Thanks, Al Gore.”

Jon Stewart Talks ‘Death To Smoochy’ Sequel At Comedy Awards

‘I am under the impression that movie sequels are based on the success of the previous movie,’ he quips to MTV News. By Aly Semigran, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Jon Stewart attends the 2011 Comedy Awards Photo: Charles Eshelman/ FilmMagic Sorry, Jon Stewart fans, but you’d better not expect to see the Emmy winner on the big screen again anytime soon. It seems the funnyman’s aspirations to return to acting are about the same as his ambitions to get into politics: nonexistent. MTV News caught up with Stewart on the red carpet of the Comedy Awards , which air on Comedy Central, VH1, Spike TV, Logo, CMT, TVLand and online at TheComedyAwards.com at 8 p.m. on Sunday (April 10). Stewart, who appeared on the silver screen in bit parts for films such as “Big Daddy,” “The Faculty” and “Half Baked” hasn’t acted in a movie in nearly a decade, when he appeared in the 2002 cult comedy “Death to Smoochy.” When asked if he would consider appearing in a follow-up to the dark flick, which was nothing short of a box-office bomb, the cable host quipped, “I am under the impression, and again I could be wrong about this, that movie sequels are based on the success of the previous movie. Now, I may be wrong!” However, Stewart — who cracked, “I think my character may have died at the end [of ‘Death to Smoochy’]. Or not. I don’t know” — did come up with an intriguing premise for a “Smoochy” prequel: “How did Smoochy get to be in the suit?” “I was never a very good actor. I can do myself like 10 percent madder or 10 percent happier,” he said of his acting skills. “I give props to the craft of acting, ’cause that’s not what I do. Or most comedians. Although there are some that are really good at it.” For now, Stewart will stay put doing what he is really good at — hosting “The Daily Show” — which won for Best Late Night Comedy Series at the Comedy Awards (during which Stephen Colbert hilariously ambushed Stewart’s acceptance speech). When faced with the prospect of 10 to 15 more years of doing the political satire, Stewart joked while pointing to himself, “Look what’s happened to me in the 10 years I’ve been doing it. … I’d be the crypt-keeper at a certain point.” Don’t miss the Comedy Awards at 8 p.m. Sunday night on Comedy Central, VH1, Spike TV, Logo, CMT, TVLand and online at TheComedyAwards.com . Jim Jonsin Keeps Busy With ‘American Idol,’ Wiz Khalifa, Eminem

Producer tells Mixtape Daily he’s working with Shady Records’ Yelawolf. By Alvin Blanco, with reporting by Kara Warner Jim Jonsin Photo: MTV News Mixtape Daily: Jim Jonsin Jim Jonsin says he’s in bed by midnight, but considering his schedule, we have a tough time believing him. One of the Grammy-winning producer and music executive’s latest gigs is mentoring contestants on the current, 10th season of “American Idol.” The Brooklyn native’s job duties include cutting full cover songs within a week’s time that are then sold on iTunes . “I’m into artist development, so I like taking an artist brand new and working with them and teaching them new things and watching them grow,” Jonsin told Mixtape Daily . “They’re having to grow at lightning speed. With the music producers injected into this now, now they’re really at hard knocks, right? Not only do you have to build this performance, but now you have to record a song. And record an amazing song that’s gotta go on iTunes for sale and it reflects you and you being an artist.” Looking at his production discography, it’s clear Jonsin’s career is nothing short of amazing itself. The former engineer for Slip-N-Slide Records has gone on to produce tracks for artists including T.I., Kelly Rowland, Usher and Lil Wayne, winning a Grammy for 2008’s “Lollipop.” Some new jacks have benefited from Jonsin’s studio touch too. Wiz Khalifa’s “On My Level” from his just-released debut, Rolling Papers , is a Jonsin creation. “He’s got that Snoop Dogg vibe with his own twist, Jay-Z kinda,” Jonsin said. “Working with Wiz, it was good. He’s kind of a traditional hip-hop artist, which I love most, mixed with this edgy skater-punk spirit. He definitely blends with my character: I like that.” Jonsin also speaks highly of B.o.B. The ATL rapper/singer/songwriter’s B.o.B Presents: The Adventures of Bobby Ray was released on Jonsin’s Rebel Rock label in conjunction with Atlantic Records and Grand Hustle Records. B.o.B and Jonsin have started working on the gold-selling album’s follow-up. “His last album kind of reflects who he is, but he’s growing into something new,” Jonsin said. “I’m waiting for what he brings us back when we go back in the studio — he’s got some ideas — to kind of see the direction he’s going in. We’re letting him lead that. He’s really talented. The guy produces, writes, he does a lot of his own stuff. I think his album will reflect that. I think this album will have a lot of his own work on it. We’re waiting on him to give us the direction. “I think there’ll be less features on this album, more him singing and rapping. Definitely less features: He wants to showcase himself more, put out more of his own ideas.” Another artist Jonsin is working with — Roc Nation’s J. Cole — surely has plenty of ideas, even if he has yet to release an album. “He’s that traditional hip-hop. I’m trying to give it a little Jim Jonsin, a little crossover, a little rock,” Jonsin said. “Some of the stuff we did was more traditional hip-hop with just a little edge to it, some rock in it. So I think we’re going to stick to that and see what happens.” Jonsin’s schedule is also booked with working with 50 Cent for the first time and with Eminem on his latest Shady Records signee’s forthcoming album. “That’s going to be fun,” Jonsin said. “We’re working for Yelawolf’s project. It’s all about Yela. We’re going to actually produce together. I get to work with Eminem producing records.” For other artists featured in Mixtape Daily, check out Mixtape Daily Headlines . ‘Your Highness’ Director Reveals Some ‘Nasty’ Deleted Scenes

‘Justin Theroux’s character, Leezar, lays an egg and a little dragon fetus comes out of it,’ David Gordon Green says of one sequence. By Kara Warner, with reporting by Ryan J. Downey David Gordon Green and Danny McBride on the set of “Your Highness” Photo: Frank Connor Given the unpredictable and improvisational nature of filming comedies — particularly those that involve jokesters Danny McBride, James Franco and director David Gordon Green (“Pineapple Express,” “Eastbound and Down”), it seems fair to assume that a fair amount of material filmed for “Your Highness” was left on the cutting-room floor. When MTV News caught up with the director recently, we asked him what omitted scenes might appear as part of the special features section on DVD/Blu-Ray. “There’s a lot of deleted scenes; all of them because we knew the movie needed to adhere to certain rules,” Gordon Green explained. “There was a really funny sequence that’s a musical sequence in the middle of the movie, of James on the quest, singing a song to Bella Donna who is Zooey Deschanel, up in the tower,” he explained. “[She] is singing back to her love to come and rescue her, and it’s really funny but it was one of the things when we test-screened the movie, we identified that as a point that broke the rules of the movie and it almost seemed like a ‘Saturday Night Live’ sketch,” he continued. “It was really, really funny on its own, but within the rules of the movie, it all of the sudden feels false. So there are things like that that I definitely want to put on the DVD because they’re really enjoyable and I’m really proud of the work that we did to make it happen,” he said, adding that a few things felt a little too over-the-top, even for them. “We had another scene where Justin Theroux’s character, Leezar , lays an egg and a little dragon fetus comes out of it,” he recalled. “Literally, a massive nasty explosion of green goo comes out of his butt, followed by a disgusting egg and a little half-formed fetus, so things like that just felt [like] it was a little excessive in going for something that was heightened and gimmicky,” he said. “[But] that stuff is really fun to watch.” Check out everything we’ve got on “Your Highness.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com .
