Lindsay Lohan Cancels Nightclub Birthday Party

Actress had plans to celebrate her 24th birthday on Wednesday night, but apparently decided to stay home. By Jocelyn Vena Lindsay Lohan Photo: Jean Baptiste Lacroix / Getty Images Although Lindsay Lohan turned 24 on July 2, she was reportedly expected to celebrate her birthday on Wednesday night, the day after her sentencing for probation violation , at the Hollywood nightclub Las Palmas. But she canceled the party at the last minute. Sources told People.com that the actress had confirmed her plans only hours before the party was scheduled to start. “Lindsay was planning to celebrate her birthday with the owners of Las Palmas, who are like family to her,” the source says. “And [she was going to celebrate with] her friend Ferras, who was also celebrating his birthday that night.” Then Lohan’s pal Marcus Molinari tweeted that she had in fact changed her mind and planned to spend time with her family instead of hitting the L.A. party scene. “Lindsay is not having her birthday @laspalmas!!!” he wrote. “She is at home with friends and family!!! We wish her well and love her!!!” Singer/songwriter Ferras re-tweeted Molinari’s post, confirming that Lohan ditched their joint celebration. Just hours after her sentencing, Dina and Michael Lohan reacted to the news of their daughter’s punishment, which includes 90 days in jail to be followed by 90 days in rehab for violating probation. “This is so not fair to do this to my child,” Dina said, but Michael had a more positive take on the jail time and rehab. Noting that he was dismayed by the thought of Lindsay going to jail, he added that he also felt “a little satisfaction that she’s going to rehab.” Do you think Lindsay is trying to turn her life around? Emmy Nominations: Glee Topples 30 Rock, Conan O’Brien and Friday Night Lights Shock

Just moments ago, Sofia Vergara and Joel McHale mounted the stage of the Television Academy in Los Angeles to announce the 62nd Primetime Emmy nominations. It was an exciting morning for Vergara — who shrieked every time Modern Family (and she) garnered a nod — and not so much for McHale — who tried to hide his disappointment every time Community (and he) were ignored in a category (“It’s OK, I just phoned it in this year,” he joked). And there was an audible cheer when the selections for this year’s Variety Show category were announced. Click through to see if Jay Leno and Conan O’B rien will duke it out for the Tonight Show crown again in August — and to acquaint yourself with the nominees for the 2010 Emmy Awards.

Gabe Saporta, Evan Lysacek, Kim Caldwell Dish In ‘When I Was 17’

Lysacek’s secret identity, Caldwell’s bloody prom and Saporta’s badass past get revealed on the show, airing Saturdays at 11 a.m. By MTV News staff Gabe Saporta Photo: MTV News We all have huge memories — both wonderful and horrible &#8212 of being 17. MTV’s “When I Was 17” features celebrities sharing moments that all of us can identify with (well, most of them anyway), and this week, Olympic medalist and “Dancing With the Stars” luminary Evan Lysacek , “American Idol” contestant Kimberly Caldwell and Cobra Starship’s Gabe Saporta delivered in fine fashion. Although Lysacek is a household name, back in the day, his friends didn’t even realize he was training for Olympic glory. “For a long time, a lot of my friends didn’t even know I was a skater, and the ones that did know didn’t really understand the magnitude of it — that I was traveling all around the world to compete,” he says on the show. Then there was one fateful day when his school principal decided to expose his secret to the entire student body. “My junior year was the first time that I competed in a competition that was televised,” Evan recalls. “My principal broadcast my skating competition for the whole school. I didn’t know ahead of time, so I kind of was surprised.” Kimberly Caldwell has turned heads on “American Idol” and the TV Guide Channel, and things were pretty much the same when she was 17 … only, back then, she was turning heads for an entirely different reason: She was the girl positively covered in blood. “When I was 17, I got asked out by one of the really hot senior boys to prom and I was, like, so excited,” Caldwell recalls. “And so I’m with all these seniors, and we go to this really beautiful restaurant, and we’re walking, and I had gotten this really, really pretty dress, and all my friends, like, came over and helped me get ready and everything. “I was so excited, and of course I had put on my ‘I’m so cool, this is not too exciting’ face. So we went to this restaurant, and before we even ate dinner, I tripped and I fell,” she continued. “My dress got split all the way up to my belly button, and my knee got a gash and it started gushing blood. It was a really, really sexy moment for me.” This might not exactly come as a surprise, but when he was 17, Cobra Starship frontman Gabe Saporta was a bit of a hell-raiser. Seems that the manic mastermind behind hits like “Good Girls Gone Bad” was never far away from trouble as a teen, much to the chagrin of pretty much every authority figure around him — particularly on one fateful class trip. “We went on a class trip to Washington, D.C., to learn about the history of our government … and everyone had a hotel room, two people per room, two boys, two girls in each room,” Saporta smiled. “But really, class trips are just make-out sessions, so I went and snuck into one of these girls’ rooms … only this girl that I was making out with, her roommate who she was paired up with came back and freaked out and, like, had a panic attack.” The spooked roommate grabbed a chaperone, and before he knew it, Saporta was busted. But he still thinks the stunt was worth it. “I got in trouble the next day, and I got sent home from the Washington trip,” he said. “I got kicked off the trip, I got to make out with a girl, and everyone’s like, ‘Wow, you were making out with a girl and you got kicked off the trip! That rules!’ ” Don’t miss “When I Was 17,” airing Saturdays at 11 a.m. ET on MTV! ‘A-Team’ Stars Bradley Cooper, Jessica Biel Reveal Secrets To A Great Kiss

Pair will present Best Kiss at MTV Movie Awards Sunday night. By Todd Gilchrist, with reporting by Josh Horowitz MTV News’ Josh Horowitz and Jessica Biel Photo: MTV News In their new film “The A-Team,” Bradley Cooper and Jessica Biel share a memorable lip-lock as Face and one of his comely cohorts, Charisa Sosa. But as attractive as the prospect of a make-out session between these two very attractive actors might be, on Sunday night all eyes will be on the couple they present Best Kiss to at the 2010 MTV Movie Awards . MTV Movies recently spoke with Cooper and Biel during interviews promoting “The A-Team,” which hits theaters June 11. In addition to describing the challenges of bringing to life a big-screen version of the beloved 1980s television series, the actors each revealed their own secrets for creating a memorable onscreen kiss. Cooper said that crafting a successful kiss has a lot to do with how it looks. “It’s got to be hot, right?” he said. The actor has enjoyed his share of smooches in recent movies, with Leslie Bibb in “The Midnight Meat Train,” Rachel McAdams in “Wedding Crashers,” Sandra Bullock in “All About Steve” and both Jennifer Connelly and Scarlett Johansson in “He’s Just Not That Into You.” (That last one more or less makes him our personal hero.) For Biel, meanwhile, the key to a great kiss has a lot to do with chemistry — and she means that literally. “Probably cherry lip gloss is a good ingredient,” she revealed. “And maybe an Altoid.” In addition to her recent smooch with Cooper, during her movie career Biel has shared sweet moments with Freddie Prinze Jr., Chris Evans, Nicolas Cage, Adam Sandler and Jamie Foxx. She admitted that her secrets to onscreen kissing were probably applicable to kisses in the real world as well, calling it good advice “in general, really.” Check out the nominees for Best Kiss at MovieAwards.MTV.com, where your vote will help pick the winner! ‘Avatar,’ ‘Paranormal Activity,’ ‘District 9’ Stars React To MTV Movie Award Nominations

‘I think these awards are totally cool, and to get two nominations is just a gas,’ says Stephen Lang of ‘Avatar.’ By Eric Ditzian, with additional reporting by Josh Horowitz and Josh Wigler Photo: 20th Century Fox The 2010 MTV Movie Awards nominations are in, pitting villains against villains, fights against fights and scared-as-hell moments against scared-as-hell moments. In other words, the show is shaping up to be completely freakin’ nuts. As the June 6 awards show approaches, we’ve been speaking to the nominees to get their reactions about the honors. “This is crazy news — I love it!” said Sharlto Copley of “District 9,” who garnered a nod in the brand-new category Scared-as S**t Performance. “I love the way they just make up the category names! That, to me, always made the MTV Movie Awards more interesting than any of the others. They were always my favorite.” A South African native, Copley has a long history of watching the show and made a point of thanking fans for giving him a chance to take part in the action. “I’m very surprised but very grateful to the MTV and ‘District 9’ fans that voted for me,” he said. “It really — the MTV Movie Awards were the kind of awards that I like, the only real award ceremony over the years in South Africa that I actually did watch whenever I could. It’s a real honor. It also actually shows that our film ended up in the pop culture.” Among his competition in the Scared-as S**t Performance category is Katie Featherston, the star of the ultra-low-budget smash hit “Paranormal Activity.” “I’m stoked!” she said of the nomination. “I have to say, years ago when we were filming the movie, I very secretly dreamt that either I or the movie would be nominated for an MTV Movie Award. But it was kind of embarrassing because those sorts of things seemed too far out, too big. So now, for it to be happening, it’s awesome. I can’t wait to go to the show.” “I have some stiff competition but I also have some awesome fans,” she added. “The fans are the reason the movie was even released. Because it was so grassroots and people were so invested it getting it out. And people feel like they know us, and to some extent they really do. They’re cool people who helped us out and I think will continue to help us.” “Avatar” co-star Stephen Lang was so pumped about his two nominations — for Best Villain and Best Fight — that he called us up from Bulgaria, where he’s currently on location for a movie shoot. “I think these awards are totally cool, and to get two nominations is just a gas. ‘Avatar’ is such a populist film and these awards are something that everyone votes on,” he said, going on to reference the film’s somewhat disappointing performance at the Oscars. “The Academy is the Academy and they have their ways. If everyone who saw ‘Avatar’ casts a vote for ‘Avatar,’ we should do fine. Don’t miss the MTV Movie Awards , airing Sunday, June 6, at 9 p.m. ET on MTV!
