Fugazi?: 50 Cent Says His Luxury Lifestyle Is All A Sham

50 Cent Says His Lifestyle Is Fake 50 Cent wants you to know that his brokeness is real. After filing for bankruptcy last week — presumably to avoid a $5 million payout to Rick Ross’ baby mama — 50 is letting the courts know that his struggle is authentic and all his lavish living is 100% for show. Via PageSix : It’s a counterfeit 50 Cent! The rapper, ordered to testify about his finances in Manhattan Supreme court Tuesday morning, said that his over-the-top displays of wealth — the bling, the Lamborghinis, Bentleys and Rolls Royces — are all smoke and mirrors. “Those cars were rented,” admitted the 40-year-old rapper, whose real name is Curtis Jackson. “It’s like music videos, they say action and you see all these fancy cars but everything goes back to the dealership,” he added. The rings, the chains? “I borrowed from the jeweler,” he admitted. In reality, he owns just three gold chains, which he has a jeweler refashion into a new piece every now and then, he said. And forget about a diamond-studded Rolex–he said he wears a plastic Casio G-Shock instead. A jury is deciding how much Fitty has to fork over to a woman whose private sex tape he posted online, in order to get back at rival rapper Rick Ross, who once fathered a baby with the woman. Earlier this month, the civil court jury ordered Jackson to pay $5 million to the woman, Lastonia Leviston, 33. Now in a second trial, the same jurors are deciding what amount of money would be an appropriate punishment as well as a deterrent to prevent him from doing a similar thing again. But the “Get Rich or Die Tryin’” star tried to downplay his wealth as mostly a front. “The hip-hop culture is aspirational,” he said. Damn, homie. Who would have thought that 50 was faking the funk so hard?

BOSSIP Exclusive – 2Chainz “THOT”: Rapper’s Taunts Made Me Want To End It All

Christine Chisholm Says She Slit Her Wrists After “THOT” Video Came Out The woman suing 2Chainz for branding her a “THOT” in an online video said the footage left her suicidal. Christine Chisholm said she tried to end her life several times by slitting her wrists and upper thighs after her mother told her that being in the “THOT” video had shamed the family. Chisholm said she also took it hard that bullies targeted her sister, Elizabeth, a student at the University of North Carolina, taunting her with “Is this your thot?”, “Thot-Tina,” and “Are you a thot?” Chisholm, 26 said she didn’t go to the hospital after the suicide attempts, but eased her despondency by attending church and confiding in her nearest and dearest. Chisholm made the sad claims in new court docs July 20 in the U.S. District Court in Charlotte, N.C., where she asked a judge for a speedy trial or settlement. Besides the suicide attempt, the woman said a stripper jumped her because of the video, and she now has to travel everywhere with security. “In this particular case, the plaintiff Christine Chisholm was called a thot before being scratched in the face numerous times,” the filing reads. “The plaintiff did not seek medical treatment at the time, since the scratches were not life threatening. The plaintiff did hire personal security to accompany her on numerous occasions.” Chisholm sued 2Chainz earlier this month, alleging that a video he shot of her backstage at a concert with the hash tag #IzThatYoThot, humiliated her and ruined her life. She claims 2Chainz’s video—which has been viewed millions of times –means she can’t date, lost her job as a receptionist in a barber shop and is constantly ridiculed in public. Chisholm originally asked for $5 million in damages, but has since upped the stakes by asking for $10 million. Chisholm maintains that she was invited backstage by 2Chainz friend Cap 1, and goes as far as to draw a diagram of the club for a blow-by-blow account of her version of events. She said she has pics of her and 2Chainz as well as 2Chainz’s DJ that show they all knew each other, and the rapper “had malicious intent to defame the plaintiff and gain publicity.”

[ Madamenoire ] Supreme Court Poised To Take Case That May Wipe Out Public Sector Unions On Tuesday, the U.S. Supreme Court agreed to take on a case that may nix laws that demand mandatory union payments from all public employees from certain professions, USA Today reports. Ten California public school teachers are challenging public unions, claiming that the obligatory collection of union fees — even from non-union members — to support collective bargaining is a violation of their First Amendment rights. The lawsuit, funded by Washington-based conservative group Center for Individual Rights, said that full dues for teachers who are a part of the union are $1,000, LA Times reported. Non-union members must pay $650 for the cost of collective bargaining. The teachers are seeking to overturn Abood v. Detroit Board of Education. North Carolina Teacher Resigns Over Backlash After Reading Gay Book To 3rd Grade Class

North Carolina Teacher Resigns After Reading Gay Book To Class Omar Currie and Meg Goodhand, respectively a teacher and vice principal of Efland-Cheeks Elementary School, have resigned over controversy surrounding a gay fairy tale that Currie read to third graders . Via The Grio : Currie read “King & King,” a story in which two princes fall in love and get married, after one of his students was called “gay” in a derogatory manner and was told that he was acting too much like a girl. Although the book had been upheld by a school review committee, Principal Kiley Brown told Currie that parents must receive a list of all books read, and that’s when things went downhill. Parent Brandy Davis and two other people filed formal complaints about the book, and Davis went on to appeal the ruling by the school review committee concerning the book. “I’m just disappointed,” Currie said on Monday. He also said that he would prepare remarks but was unsure if he would even speak. Currie has had five job interviews, all positive, including a few interviews for positions in Durham Public Schools. “It’s nice to be told by administrators that my actions were correct,” he said. “I still want to be very involved in the Efland community,” he continued, saying that he plans to be involved in tutoring and mentoring programs. Do you think the teacher should have resigned?

Bey Gone: Haitians Slam Beyoncé’s Visit As An Insulting “Celebrity Photo Op”

Haitians Criticize Beyoncé’s Trip As Futile Celeb Photo Op Sak pase? Via NYTimes The American Embassy in Haiti wanted to show a notable visitor — in this case, the pop superstar Beyoncé — some of the progress made since the 2010 earthquake. So it did what many people do: turned to Facebook this weekend to ask for advice from the 119,000 people who have “liked” its page. It ended up with a lesson in the perils of crowdsourcing, especially for a government whose long history in the country always fires up passions. Many took the occasion to post skepticism with the parade of such celebrity visits and frustration with the pace of rebuilding in Haiti, reflecting the strong sentiment there that things could be a lot better five years later. “Just another celebrity photo opportunity,” griped one user, La’Keba Garcia, who said she was a frequent visitor to Haiti. The user Dous Makòs, said Beyoncé should go, “Nowhere, because there’s no progress.” The embassy did not answer a query about its post and whether Beyoncé had taken up any recommendations. She visited Haiti over the weekend with Valerie Amos, the United Nations humanitarian affairs chief, but the full itinerary was not disclosed. In a Tweet on Monday afternoon, the U.N. agency said the two had visited patients at a pediatric hospital and earthquake survivors. American officials have struggled to convince people that progress is being made after a quake that took 300,000 lives and left millions without homes. These social media campaigns go left just about EVERY time. When will they learn? SMH. Wonder if Bey Bey made one of those infamous clandestine Carter donations… Image via Instagram

North Carolina Teacher Does Something Amazing After 3rd Grader Is Bullied For Being Gay

North Carolina Reads Book About Gay Kings To Class After Student Is Bullied A North Carolina teacher is drawing both praise and criticism for the way he handled a bullying situation with one of his students. Via HuffPo : Omar Currie, 25, teaches third grade at Efland-Cheeks Elementary School in Efland, North Carolina. Three weeks ago, Currie overheard some of his students calling one of their male classmates “gay” and “a woman.” Instead of sending the bullies to the principal’s office, Currie took a different approach: He read his class King & King, a children’s fable by Linda de Haan and Stern Nijland that features a same-sex romance. Currie, who identifies as gay, told The Huffington Post that he wanted to have an honest conversation with his students — whom he affectionately refers to as his “kids” — on how to treat people who may seem different. “There was a group of boys that had been referring to the child as a girl or a woman, saying ‘OK, woman,’ or ‘OK, girl,’” Currie told HuffPost. He stepped in and addressed the issue, he said, but then it happened again. “This particular child who was being bullied was very, very upset.” The following day, Currie read his class King & King, a picture book whose main character, a prince, must find a suitor to marry. After meeting with a succession of princesses and feeling no spark, the prince eventually falls in love with another prince. The two wed, becoming kings together, and the book ends with the two kings kissing. Currie said he knows all too well the pains of being bullied at school. He said the classroom should be a safe environment for all children. “Every single day in middle school I was called a fa**ot,” he said. “I was called that in front of teachers and no one ever stopped to address the problem. It gave me an understanding that it must be fixed immediately when it happens.” The school board committee ultimately determined that the book would not be banned, but that in the future, teachers must inform parents about every book they plan to read for their class. Currie said he disagrees with the latter decision, but appreciates the love and support he has received. Do you think the teacher should have read the book to the class?
