Justin Bieber Fever Infects Selena Gomez, Allison Iraheta And Other Stars

‘Bieber fever, man, call the doctor,’ says Nickelodeon star Victoria Justice. By Jocelyn Vena Justin Bieber Photo: Jeff Kravitz/ Getty Images As Justin Bieber ‘s My World 2.0 tops the Billboard albums chart , it’s starting to feel like the whole world has a case of Bieber fever. And in addition to the legions of screaming teen girls who love the 16-year-old, young celebrities appear to be succumbing to Bieber’s charms too. “The Last Airbender” star Nicola Peltz gushed to MTV News about the pop star at the Kids’ Choice Awards, where Bieber performed over the weekend. “I’m feeling the fever!” she said. Former “American Idol” contestant Allison Iraheta is also feeling hot for the teen star these days. “I have Bieber fever!” she shared. “Who doesn’t?” Selena Gomez, who once told us she feels like a “big sister” to Bieber , added that her loyalty runs very deep. But does she have the fever? “Of course! I do, absolutely, yes!” Nickelodeon star Victoria Justice, whose new show “Victorious” premiered after the KCAs , added her name to the infected list. “Oh, man! Bieber fever, man, call the doctor. I got it bad!” she quipped. Meanwhile, actress Jasmine Villegas, Bieber’s love interest in the “Baby” music video , seemed to have a much milder case. “Of course, he’s, like, a really cool friend of mine,” she said. “But he’s definitely super talented.” There have been some reported cases among male Bieber fans too. Boys Like Girls lead singer Martin Johnson said, “I think he’s the man.” And Bieber’s “Eenie Meenie” collaborator, Sean Kingston , is happy that so many people have the fever these days. “That’s my little bro,” he said. “I’m gonna support him and be excited for him.” Bieber said he appreciates all the support his fans and other celebrities have shown him since being catapulted to superstar status. “It feels great,” he said at the KCAs. “I’m just happy to be here, happy to have so many supportive fans.” Do you have Bieber fever? Nicki Minaj Goes Big For ‘Massive Attack’ Video

Video premiering Wednesday is dedicated to Lil Wayne, ‘because he’s not here.’ By Shaheem Reid, with additional reporting by Matt Elias Nicki Minaj on the set of her video for “Massive Attack” Photo: MTV News On the set of her video for “Massive Attack,” Nicki Minaj said she wanted to dedicate the production to her musical family, especially the head of the squad, Lil Wayne. “I wanna say shout-out to my baby Wayne, because he’s not here,” Minaj said, sitting in the video’s pink Lambo a couple of months ago. “This means the world to me, because Wayne was one of the first people that believed in me. He’s not here to see my first video. But he’s here in spirit, obviously. I wanna tell him, ‘I love you very much. Thank you for everything you’ve done for me thus far.’ And to my whole team, Young Money, I love you guys. This is for Wayne and this is for my whole team. Young Money/ Cash Money, we in the building.” “Massive Attack” dropped earlier this week, and the video lands everywhere on Wednesday night (March 31). “I brought my BFF Amber Rose out here,” Nicki said on the set earlier this month. “This is a massive attack. We shot the helicopter scene. Obviously, I had to have a hot-pink Lamborghini. We’re having fun in the car, and we see a freakin’ helicopter chase us. So we get on the walkie-talkie, like, ‘Mayday! Mayday!’ It’s really fashion and beauty shots, and we’re acting like we’re doing something important. “We did a mud scenes that’s gonna be spectacular,” she added. “We did a crawling forest scene that was dope. That was shot at night. It’s just beautiful. The clothes, the ambience, it’s really, really pretty. All the girls that like to play dress-up, they’re gonna love this one. We wanted to make it pretty in the dirt. We wanted to have a very crazy contrast. I didn’t want to do everything clean. I like the dirt. All that pink stuff looks even prettier in the dirt.” “It doesn’t get much bigger than this,” said a shirtless Sean Garrett, who collaborated on the track, on the set. “This is the year we start to take off and take it to another level. ‘Massive Attack’ man, we ain’t playing no games. We had to deliver something incredibly huge for Nicki, because as you know, her personality is enormous and the records that she’s been on in the past have been very, very hot, but very street records. “We wanted to give her something that was global,” he continued. “We wanted to give her something that was urban; we wanted to give her something that was mainstream pop, you know what I mean, that the world could get a chance to see her out on this pedestal. And of course, you know, I had to come along with her, because I’ve got an album dropping soon.” “I’m glad she’s a part of us, part of our team,” the Birdman said on set, adding that as Nicki continues blow up, the door will open for more of her female peers. “You gotta be solid built for this, if you want it for a long time,” Birdman said. “I think you will see more women now, though. I think it’s needed. The women bring a different vibe to hip-hop. I think it’s needed; women bring more women.” Nicki is still working on her debut album, which has no release date or title as of yet. Related Artists Nicki Minaj

MTV’s Musical March Madness Reaches The Elite Eight

My Chemical Romance outlast 30 Seconds to Mars, in Bigger Than the Sound ‘s bracketology! By James Montgomery My Chemical Romance Photo: Jeff Kravitz/ FilmMagic When historians look back on MTV News’ inaugural Musical March Madness tournament, they will undoubtedly focus on the Sweet 16 matchup between My Chemical Romance and 30 Seconds to Mars (well, either that or Linkin Park ‘s rather erroneous omission from the entire field of 65). It was, to borrow a few catchphrases, a clash of the titans, a barn-burner, a good old-fashioned slobberknocker: Two of the biggest bands on the planet — with two of the most rabid fanbases, the MCRmy and the Echelon — squaring off for a spot in the Elite Eight. It was like Duke/ North Carolina, Ohio State/ Michigan, Israel University/ Palestine Tech, only bloodier, more venomous. It was a match for the ages. Votes poured in by the bucket load. Both bands led for extended periods of time, fell behind, then surged into the lead again, thanks to some rather creative campaigning (30STM imploring fans to vote from their school’s computer labs was a genius touch,) and, perhaps fittingly, when voting closed on Tuesday night, things were tied, with each act grabbing 50 percent of the vote. So, who won? Well, in a contest where more than 50,000 ballots were cast, it came down to just 327 votes, and in the end, My Chem moved on to the Elite Eight. I’m not gonna lie, we’ll miss 30 Seconds to Mars and their fanatic, somewhat insane dedication to winning a fictional championship. But the fans have spoken, and Leto and company will have to wait until next year. So, who will be joining My Chemical Romance in the Elite Eight? You can take a look at our updated bracket here , and voting will open Wednesday afternoon (March 31) over on the Newsroom blog . Let’s get to the results. Midwest In a region highlighted by shocking upsets (#16 the Hold Steady besting #1 Nickelback, #11 Shinedown over #6 Cobra Starship), we’re left with a pretty straightforward final: second-seeded Muse versus fourth-seeded the White Stripes. Both bands handled their Sweet 16 opponents with relative ease — the Stripes thumped Patrick Stump, and Muse rallied to knock off a game AFI — but only one can advance to the Final Four. Who Will Win MTV’s Musical March Madness?! The results: (4) The White Stripes def. (9) Patrick Stump, 70-30 (2) Muse def. (14) AFI, 53-47 So, once again, our final in the Midwest region is #2 Muse v. #4 the White Stripes. To be honest, I’m sort of amazed the Stripes have made it this far. I didn’t think Jack White even knew how to use a computer. West The Wild West continued to live up to its nickname, as it played host to both the MCR/30STM tilt and #14 the Young Veins vs. #15 Panic! at the Disco, a matchup that pitted former bandmates against one another. Sadly — perhaps due to Ryan Ross’ refusal to campaign on behalf of his band — Panic! rolled past the Veins, setting up a final of two bands that haven’t released much new music in recent years but whose fans don’t seem to mind. The results: (5) My Chemical Romance def. (9) 30 Seconds To Mars, 50-50 (OT, MCR won on total votes) (15) Panic! at the Disco def. (14) The Young Veins, 85-15 The West region final is #5 My Chemical Romance v. #15 Panic! at the Disco. Can the Panic! boys’ dream run continue on to the Final Four? Or will MCR continue to flex their muscles? It’s up to you. East I suppose it had to come down to this: 16th-seeded Tokio Hotel, who entered the tournament merely as an afterthought, roll on to the Elite Eight, after finally putting away a testy Vampire Weekend. (True story, VW frontman Ezra Koenig totally tweeted at me to complain about his band’s matchup.) They’ll face off against Owl City, who pasted MGMT. Both bands’ fanatical fanbases will need to up their efforts leading up to the Final Four. The results: (16) Tokio Hotel def. (4) Vampire Weekend, 63-37 (3) Owl City def. (7) MGMT, 62-38 So, our East region final pits #3 Owl City against #16 Tokio Hotel. Surely the Internet will buckle beneath the weight of the vote. South The region that refuses to make any sense reaches perhaps the most (il)logical conclusion possible: #13 Alice in Chains — who outlasted Adam Lambert — going up against #15 Coheed and Cambria, who topped heavily favored Phish. Coheed seem to care about this tournament more than any band left in the field, so I suppose it’s hard to bet against them at this point. The results: (13) Alice in Chains def. (9) Adam Lambert, 65-35 (15) Coheed and Cambria def. (6) Phish, 56-44 The South final is #13 Alice in Chains v. #15 Coheed and Cambria. Someone’s got to win, right? Once again, Elite Eight voting opens Wednesday afternoon and runs until Thursday night over on the Newsroom blog. Vote early, vote often, and perhaps you can help your favorite band advance to the Final Four! Who do you think will take home the Musical March Madness championship? Are you as surprised as we are by the results? Talk about it here! Related Photos MTV News’ Band Bracketology Who Will Win MTV’s Musical March Madness?! South Korean Naval Ship Sank Near North Korea’s Border

The Cheonan Naval ship of South Korea sank near the maritime border of North Korea, this made the Seoul’s government alarmed. Lee Myung-bak, South Korea’s president called for an emergency meeting with his defense minister and other top military officials and the military have already dispatched a fleet of ships. As of now, 58 sailors are already safe but 40 more are missing. The reason is still unknown why the ship sank, and there’s no indication that North Korea should be blamed. Cheonan, a 1,200-ton naval ship has 104 crews and was patrolling at the Baeknyeong Island  (located 20 km from North Korea) last Friday night. According to Yonhap news agency, some unidentified military officials told them that “that an explosion tore a hole into the rear hull, shutting off the engine, wiping out the power and quickly taking the ship down. A number of crew members jumped into the water”. Also, according to Carl Baker,  an expert on Korean military relations, that what made the ship sank is more like an accident. Conservative Pundit Canned for ‘Waterloo’ Remarks [Firings]

On Monday, David ‘Axis of Evil’ Frum compared the GOP’s health care defeat to Napoleon’s Waterloo , and chastised Rush Limbaugh . On Thursday he was booted from his right-wing think tank fellowship. We have some ideas for your next move, Dave! Sure, the American Enterprise Institute kicked you to the curb for being a turncoat and you’re probably feeling blue, but they’re a bunch of pussies anyway. A little shake-up could do them some good. In honor of your new found freedom, here are a handful of things you could do to get back on top where you belong. • Write a tell-all. OK, so you wrote a book about GW Bush called The Right Man , but everyone knows that was a bunch of ass-kissy bullshit. It’s time to really tell it all. You can start with something like this: Yeah, George W. Bush was an illiterate moron, so I plugged the ‘Axis of Evil’ thing into his State of the Union address to really set things off around the world. There, I said it. And did I mention that Rush Limbaugh is a dickhead? Now get off my nuts. • Fight Rush. Yeah, he’s big and angry and probably loaded on all sorts of nice drugs, but you can take him, Dave! You did once call him ” the stereotype of self-indulgence ,” so it’s time to finish what you started. And just think of the publicity. • Make friends with North Korea’s Kim Jong-Il . Nothing would say “fuck you” to the GOP like pulling a Jimmy Carter and getting down with a regime you once labeled a part of the Axis of Evil. Kim has expensive taste in scotch and likes strippers . You really can’t lose here, Dave. • Start a charity. What better way to show you really do have a heart and don’t mind all of the talk about you being a warmonger than running a nice little NGO? Start with something simple, like an orphanage in Iraq, maybe? You figure that one out. So there you go, Mr. Frum. Sadly, it’s hard to imagine any of these things coming true. A good guess would put you in line for, say, a guest blogger spot at The Huffington Post ? But don’t say you weren’t advised! [ Image via Getty ]

MTV’s Musical March Madness: The Second Round Begins!

Shocking upsets, Cinderella teams rule first round of our band bracketology, in Bigger Than the Sound. By James Montgomery Tokio Hotel Photo: Interscope/Getty Images/MTV News I’m going to be honest: I didn’t expect this — any of this — to happen. Last week, when I wrote my “Musical March Madness” column , I did it mostly because I love college basketball, gambling and superfluous list-making. I made my selections largely at random. I left out a whole bunch of bands I probably shouldn’t have (Linkin Park, Trent Reznor/Nine Inch Nails — two powerhouses inexplicably relegated to the NIT, sort of like North Carolina and UConn). I drew up a bracket by hand, for crying out loud. I was not prepared for what happened next. Somehow, my sprawling, slightly stupid project became a fairly big deal, getting coverage on places like NPR and even The Ethiopian Review, and inspiring bands to rally their fanbases to help them advance. In the end, there were hundreds of thousands of votes being cast on the Newsroom blog, some genuine rage, and a whole lot of upsets in the first round of the tourney. Needless to say, I’m pretty amazed by all the attention it got, not to mention all the brackets I received from readers: well thought-out, carefully crafted things with lengthy explanations of picks (“Petite-but-voluble Pete Wentz makes it to the Sweet 16 before being muscled out by Detroit’s own White Stripes, who go on to win the region over the very entertaining but predictable [read: West Virginia] Foo Fighters”)

Demi Lovato Says Boyfriend Joe Jonas Doesn’t Share Her Love For Heavy Metal

‘I played it for him and he’s like, ‘Whoa that’s crazy,’ ‘ the Disney star said on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live.’ By Jocelyn Vena Demi Lovato appears on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” Photo: ABC Joe Jonas apparently doesn’t have a high tolerance for girlfriend and fellow Disney star Demi Lovato ‘s taste in heavy metal. Lovato, appearing on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” Monday night, said she was tired after going to see a Maylene and the Sons of Disaster concert the previous night. When asked if boyfriend Joe shared her fondness for “hard-core Southern rock metal band,” Lovato said, “No, we’ve talked about it. … I played it for him and he’s like, ‘Whoa that’s crazy.’ ” While they might not agree on what kind of music to listen to (Jonas has admitted to being a big fan of indie rock band Vampire Weekend ), not surprisingly, they haven’t even broached the subject of starting a family. “You know, it’s a little early to talk about that,” Lovato told Kimmel. All joking aside, the couple will appear on “American Idol” this week, where they will sing their duet, “Make a Wave,” from the new Disneynature flick “Oceans.” (Jonas appeared on “Idol” earlier this season as a guest judge .) “Yes we’re doing a duet. I’m afraid of Simon, so I’m good [about not being judged by him while on the show]. … The song’s coming out and it’s great,” she explained. “It’s not about being in love. It’s whatever you interpret it to be.” Lovato currently stars on the Disney series “Sonny With a Chance,” but she got her big start in entertainment alongside a certain big purple dinosaur. “I was on the ‘Barney’ show for about two seasons. I don’t [keep in touch]. You realize he’s kind of a dinosaur,” she joked to Kimmel. Related Artists Demi Lovato Joe Jonas
