Anderson Cooper on Anderson: Why I Came Out

Anderson Cooper may be the host of Anderson , but the journalist himself was placed on the hot seat yesterday by Kristin Chenoweth. Asked by the actress about his summer, specifically his decision to announce himself as a proud gay man , Cooper explained that his sexual preference was no secret to anyone in his personal life. “I came out in high school,” Cooper said. “I told my friends, I told my family. I’ve always been out to my co-workers and stuff. It’s just not something I talked about publicly, because as a reporter, I didn’t think it was appropriate. It didn’t seem like part of my job.”

The Real Reason Kate Middleton Refused Peanuts …

Does passing on peanuts really mean Kate Middleton is pregnant ? The pregnancy rumor mill began turning hard last week when the 29-year-old Duchess declined to sample peanut paste during a UNICEF visit to Denmark. Although Kate Middleton is not allergic to peanuts, pregnant women are often advised to avoid peanut products to prevent allergies in their babies-to-be. So … Naturally, coupled with the belly touching seen below, this sparked major royal baby speculation. But a royal insider says (shockingly) it may not be the case. “She’s not comfortable eating in front of cameras,” the insider said. “What if she didn’t like it and made a face? That expression would then be on every newspaper.” What a fair, valid and seemingly obvious explanation. No fun! A spokesman for the couple says that the policy is “to never confirm or deny [pregnancy] rumors,” but a palace insider insists: “If and when there is an announcement to make, officially, it will be made by the palace as soon as it’s safe to.” Long story short … don’t hold your breath for it anytime soon.

‘Harry Potter’ Producer ‘Can’t Wait To Read’ J.K. Rowling’s Writing

‘She delivers when she’s ready and that’s it,’ David Heyman tells MTV News about the author’s next project. By Terri Schwartz, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Daniel Radcliffe, J.K. Rowling, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint Photo: Jon Furniss/ WireImage When it comes to singling out the one person most responsible for the “Harry Potter” films actually getting made, author J.K. Rowling has long credited producer David Heyman for convincing her that the big screen was the right way to go. Now, with the final movie, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2,” just a day from hitting theaters, Rowling can have her pick of projects. But while she has admitted to writing recently, she won’t say what specifically, and her Pottermore website is still a mystery. According to Heyman, it’s likely she’ll try to keep it things top-secret for as long as possible. “One of the gifts of ‘Harry Potter’ [success] for her, and I suppose for me in some ways, is it’s bought us time. I know that when she was writing the first few ‘Harry Potter,’ the pressure to deliver the fourth and fifth — but particularly the fourth — on a schedule, was difficult and traumatic in some ways, and it wasn’t pleasurable,” Heyman told MTV News. “Now, she doesn’t have that pressure. She finishes when she is ready to finish. She delivers when she’s ready and that’s it. She’s writing and I’m sure there’ll be something and I can’t wait to read it.” Though Heyman played coy on whether he already knows what Rowling’s next project will be, he said he would support her in whatever she ventures into. In fact, he seemed ready to follow wherever she might lead him. “For me, I really want to be involved in adapting Jo’s fiction,” Heyman said. “If she does write another ‘Potter’ book, I will be there to work on it. It’s been a fantastic thing to be a part of, a real privilege. But really, it all begins with Jo, so if it’s not Jo, there’s no point.” Would you like to see J.K. Chris Evans’ ‘Captain America’ Suit Was ‘Not Comfortable’

‘First Avenger’ star will talk iconic costumes and more tonight on ‘MTV First’ at 7:56 p.m. ET on MTV and MTV.com. We’ll be discussing all things Cap and answering the questions you submitted. Among a wide range of topics, we’ll talk to Evans about what it was like to put on those iconic Captain America costumes. And just to give you a little preview of what’s in store, we’ve got a snippet here, so read on (and click the embedded video). “I did not get to keep any of the costumes, unfortunately,” Evans told us. “Because a lot of times on films you have to go back to do re-shoots, and if they don’t have the suit available, we’re in trouble. And no, they were not comfortable,” he added. Regarding the evolution of Cap’s famous red-white-and-blue ensemble, Evans revealed that the next time we see him post- “Captain America: The First Avenger” — alongside a slew of fellow Marvel superheroes in “The Avengers” — he’ll be rocking a more modern suit. “In ‘The Avengers,’ the suit is much more slick, it’s modern. There is a lot of range of motion and it makes those fight sequences a lot easier,” Evans explained. “It looks fantastic.” For more from Evans, tune in tonight to MTV and MTV.com at 7:56 p.m. ET. New Jersey Patients Unhappy about Medical Marijuana Law Delays

Marta Portuguez of Roselle Park is one of the law's potential beneficiaries. The 49-year-old woman suffers from 10 different illnesses, including gastroparesis, fibromyalgia, and chronic fatigue syndrome. Her symptoms include muscle spasms, attacks of nausea, and severe pain. “The diseases are my constant companions,” she said. “I'm on pain medications, and the doctors don't allow me to work. Not that I could — I find it impossible to sit for more than half an hour.” Portuguez turned to medical marijuana on the advice of a family member who knew someone very ill whose doctor had recommending trying it. “I didn't really know anything about it, but the more research I did, the more clear it became that it would be a great help. My stomach is dead, and I needed medication I don't have to take orally,” she explained. “They brought some to me and it was like a miracle,” Portuguez exclaimed. “I went from horrific pain 24-7 even with morphine, to almost no pain, almost immediately. I could be rolled up in a ball shaking and puking my guts out, and when I use it, that immediately starts dissipating. It's quite remarkable. I can sit down with my husband and children and enjoy a movie. I have a little bit better quality of life; I'm not always so sick.” But because marijuana is illegal, Portuguez is unable to get regular access to it. “I don't have it all the time,” she said. “It's sporadic. I'm not comfortable with the fact that it's illegal, that's why it's so important for it to be legalized. It's about compassion and helping your fellow human beings.” http://stopthedrugwar.org/chronicle/2010/sep/22/new_jersey_patients_fume_over_me added by: JackHerer
