FBI Makes Documents Regarding The Notorious B.I.G.’s Death Available Online

It has been fourteen years since The Notorious BIG was shot and killed 50 yards outside the Peterson Automotive Museum. No arrests were made in connection to the act and the case was closed in 2005. The FBI released new documents online, last week regarding the murder, how Biggie was killed with rare ammunition they had found on the scene. Biggie was shot with a 9mm pistol. After ballistic examinations, it was rendered that the bullet shell casing was made by Gecko. “Gecko is a metal piercing round made in Europe and rarely found in the U.S.” After reading the report it is clear that the LAPD missed many leads that could have ultimately led to the finding of BIG’s killer. Lil’ Kim On A Junior M.A.F.I.A. Reunion: Not A Chance

‘At this point I would say never,’ Queen Bee declares on ‘RapFix Live.’ By Alvin Blanco, with reporting by Sway Calloway Lil’ Kim and Sway Photo: Rich Sancho/ MTV News Lil’ Kim made her debut in the music industry as part of the Junior M.A.F.I.A. but chances of a full-scale reunion of the group the Notorious B.I.G. handpicked himself are minimal. The Queen Bee told us during Thursday’s edition of “RapFix Live” that in spite of the crew once being a tight-knit musical family, her continued disassociation with fellow M.A.F.I.A. member Lil’ Cease prevents her from ever reuniting with the crew. “No. Next question,” Kim said when asked by host Sway if there was a chance of a reunion. Asked about a possible Junior M.A.F.I.A. album, her response was equally terse: “Never.” The Junior M.A.F.I.A. — Lil’ Cease, Lil’ Kim, MC Klepto, Nino Brown and company — was conceived by B.I.G., who signed the group to Atlantic Records via the Undeas Entertainment imprint with his business partner Lance “Un” Rivera. Thanks to breakout performances on hits like “Get Money” and “Player’s Anthem,” from Junior M.A.F.I.A.’s debut album, Conspiracy (1995), Lil’ Kim was able to launch her own solo career. Her solo debut, Hardcore, was released a year later and is considered a hip-hop classic. Lil’ Cease would release his own solo album, The Wonderful World of Cease a Leo, in 1999, two years after B.I.G.’s untimely death. But Cease and Kim had a falling-out shortly thereafter, with the Queen Bee suing her fellow Brooklyn native for $6 million in 2005 over a Junior M.A.F.I.A. DVD. Last year, Lil’ Cease told MTV News that a Junior M.A.F.I.A. reunion “needed to happen.” But even when pressed, Kim maintained that the chance of reconciliation with Cease on a personal level was slim, at best. “At this point I would say never,” Kim declared. “Only God directs my life so I can’t say if I would ever speak to him in the future. But at this point, no. I have not seen a single change and then I’ve seen a bunch of talk and a bunch of contradictions, so no.” Do you think Kim and Cease should bury the hatchet? Lil’ Kim ‘Bothered’ By Onetime Friend Diddy

‘Puffy never came to see me in prison, not one time,’ she tells ‘RapFix Live.’ By Alvin Blanco, with reporting by Sway Calloway Lil’ Kim on RapFix Live Photo: Rich Sancho/ MTV News Lil’ Kim has plenty to talk about besides rap nemesis Nicki Minaj. While speaking to Sway Calloway during MTV News’ “RapFix Live,” the Queen Bee talked about running with Sean “Diddy” Combs, despite never being signed to his Bad Boy Records. “Biggie did bring me to Puffy,” Kim told MTV News. “He said, ‘She’s too pretty to be rapping. Female rappers don’t look like her. What am I supposed to do with her?’ ” But apparently Diddy, who also passed on signing Junior M.A.F.I.A., had a change of heart when the Notorious B.I.G. played him Lil’ Kim’s debut album, Hardcore. Diddy insisted he be part of the album, jumping on “No Time,” Hardcore ‘s lead single, which at one point was supposed to be a remix of Junior M.A.F.I.A.’s “Get Money.” Kim went on to say that she and Diddy, who has recently worked with Nicki Minaj, no longer speak. “The only problem I had with Puffy is that you see this girl taking shots at me,” Kim said, referring to Nicki. “Even on your own record [Dirty Money’s ‘Hello Good Morning’] she took a shot at me … and you didn’t stop that? If this was me years ago, he would have been doing everything if it was somebody he was working with or had a relationship with and he got money with or whatever, he would be like, ‘That can’t go out!’ ” Kim also mentioned that, during her incarceration for federal perjury between 2005 and 2006, Diddy was nowhere to be found. “I’m bothered by his actions, because I rolled with Puffy to the bitter end, and still would have rolled with him,” Kim said. “Puffy never came to see me in prison, not one time. He didn’t write me a letter. He didn’t say, ‘Here’s a number for Kim to call,’ not one time. “Then, because of your little business situations over there with Cash Money and Rick Ross and all of them, you’re going to go see Wayne?” she continued, referring to Diddy’s surprise visit to Lil Wayne on Rikers Island last year. NBA All-Stars LeBron James, Dwight Howard, More Talk Hoops, Hip-Hop

‘They say all rappers want to be basketball players, [and] all basketball players want to be rappers,’ says wife of Carmelo Anthony, La La Vazquez. By Alvin Blanco, with reporting by Rahman Dukes LeBron James Photo: MTV News Hip-hop and sports are practically kindred spirits, especially when it comes to basketball. At this year’s NBA All-Star Weekend , a number of hoop stars, and the wife of one player in particular, wholeheartedly agreed with this observation. “They always say all rappers want to be basketball players, [and] all basketball players want to be rappers,” La La Vazquez, wife of New York Knick Carmelo Anthony and ex-MTV VJ, told MTV News. Over the years, a number of NBA players have actually become rappers on the side. Besides four championships — three with the Los Angeles Lakers, one with the Miami Heat — Shaquille O’Neal also managed to release four albums. The first, 1993’s Shaq Diesel, went platinum and the third, 1996’s You Can’t Stop the Reign, featured a pair of verses from the Notorious B.I.G. on its title track. More recently, L.A. Laker Ron Artest has embarked on a rap career, while his teammate Kobe Bryant once kicked rhymes on R&B singer Brian McKnight’s “Hold Me.” Not every player necessarily has rap dreams to go along with their hoop dreams, though. “Every player except me wants to be a rapper,” said Dwight Howard of the NBA’s Orlando Magic. “I don’t want to do the rap thing.” Howard did add though about his fellow NBA stars, “We love music. We love hip-hop and we support it.” LeBron James, who is famously and charitably good friends with Jay-Z, mentioned how basketball players are frequently name-checked in song. For example, on Jay-Z’s “Empire State of Mind,” the MC rhymes, “Jesus paying LeBron, I’m paying Dwyane Wade.” This synergy between players and rappers ultimately boils down to mutual respect. “We all came from nothing,” Boston Celtic Kevin Garnett told us. “The appreciation factor for each other, the fact you gotta grind and work hard to get where you at, it’s similar. It’s a very similar industry.” Garnett’s teammate and fellow All-Star Rajon Rondo added, “We respect those guys the way they respect us. It kind of goes hand in hand. Rappers love to come see us play. We love to see them perform.” What do you think of the ongoing love between hip-hop and hoops? Sound off in the comments!
