Bill “Slick Willy” Clinton Cosigns Barack’s “Buffett Rule”…”I Think The President Is Doing The Right Thing”

Looks like President Barack Obama has some backers and cosigners for his plan to get the economy back on track : Former President Bill Clinton urged lawmakers on Capitol Hill to focus on stimulating growth in the U.S. economy before efforts to reduce the deficit. “I think that we need to focus right now on putting the country back to work,” Mr. Clinton said Sunday in an interview on CBS’ Face the Nation. “I’d like to see the economic plan that (President Obama) talked about in his address to Congress enacted first, then when the economy starts growing again in a year or two, then I’d like to put the hammer down on this deficit problem,” Mr. Clinton told host Bob Schieffer. The former president praised Mr. Obama’s forthcoming proposal to raise taxes on the highest earning Americans, though he said he did not know the precise timing of when such a move would be implemented. “I think the president is doing the right thing,” Mr. Clinton said. Mr. Obama on Monday is expected to unveil a plan calling for a new minimum tax rate for individuals making more than $1 million a year, administration officials told CBS News. The notion is based on an argument made popular by billionaire investor Warren Buffett, who has said that the current tax system gives an unfair advantage to his billionaire investor friends who do not pay as high a rate on their income as middle-class Americans. “If you look at the group that has had the biggest income increases and the benefit of most of the tax cuts of the previous eight years before the Obama administration took office, those of us in that income group, we’re in the best position to make a contribution to changing the debt structure of the country,” Mr. Clinton said, “I don’t think that’s such a draconian thing.” Mr. Clinton added that the economy will not start growing until the banks clear mountains of debt racked up in the mortgage crisis. “In the meanwhile I think a combination of the payroll tax changes that Obama recommended, setting up an investment bank and doing more in infrastructure and then looking at areas of specific opportunities to put people to work can really create million of jobs and get us out of hte worst of this doldrum,” Mr. Clinton said. President Obama Addresses Employment Head On With Interactive One Team

Read this article:

Earlier this week our sister sites, “ Hello Beautiful “, “ NewsOne ” and “ The Urban Dail y” participated in hosting an  interactive conversation about the state of the union  with top Aides in the White House. The discussion ended with a surprise visit from the President answering questions directly for over 15 minutes. The forum, titled “Open for Questions with Interactive One,” featured various administration officials discussing how the administration’s polices have affected and will affect the Black community, taking questions from  the Interactive One network sites,  TheGrio.com, and   BlackPlanet.com. Make sure to visit the site and watch the discussion here: We Must Pump It Up To Pass Jobs President Obama charged all in attendance to get the truth out about the state of employment and what is happening across the nation. Though it’s difficult to be optimistic about the bleak job market when unemployment is stuck at around 9.1%, but a survey just released by employment services firm ManpowerGroup offers hope for job seekers in many places around the country. The survey reveals that the metropolitan area with the most optimistic forecast of all for hiring this fall is San Antonio, Texas, and there’s also the good news that employers in 45 states expect the bleak employment picture to perk up. In fact, hiring managers in dozens of metropolitan areas anticipate considerable increases in hiring, while others present a darker forecast. In fact, Baltimore-Towson employers are expressing similar sentiments. Twenty percent of that metro area’s hiring managers anticipate a bright fourth quarter. Meanwhile, 7% expect to decrease their payrolls, 71% anticipate no change and 2% are uncertain. This yields a net employment outlook of 13% and positions the Maryland metropolis as the third best place for finding a job this fall. Greensboro-High Point, N.C., St. Louis and Tulsa enjoy the same rank. Part of the fact is that America at large feels  that lawmakers are acting like spoiled brats. Here is a recent poll taken during the debt ceiling discussion: Tell us what you think.  We want to hear from you.

Jon Stewart: Disappointed in President Obama

Like other famous Democrats, Jon Stewart is not pleased with Barack Obama. In the wake of Matt Damon expressing disappointment with the Commander-in-Chief, the Daily Show host has come out in the latest issue of Rolling Stone and said, above all else, he’s simply confused by the President. “I’m not sure what he truly thinks is the right path,” Stewart tells the magazine . “Other than that he believes the wealthy should pay a little bit more of their fair share.” Adds the comedian: “He ran on this idea that the system and the methodology are corrupt,” he says. “It felt like the country was upset enough that he had the momentum needed to re-evaluate how business is done. Instead, when he got elected, he acted as though the system is so entrenched that it has to be managed… I’m surprised at how much he deferred to the legislative process.” Stewart’s feelings on Obama are in stark contract to how he views Bruce Springsteen. “You would go see his show and he would blow your fucking mind for four hours. At a certain point, you’d want to go up onstage and be like, ‘Guys! It’s OK. I got my money’s worth, like, two and a half hours ago. Save yourself! I don’t want you to burn out,. You’re giving too much! We do not deserve what you’ve done here tonight! A lot of us are jackasses!”

Lil Wayne: Right-Wingers Are ‘Never’ Going To Like Black People

Weezy talks racial politics in new issue of Vibe magazine. By James Montgomery Lil Wayne Photo: FilmMagic Though it would be pretty amazing to see Lil Wayne throw on a tri-cornered hat and breeches to complain about tyranny, it seems he’s not exactly feeling the Tea Party. Or the Grand Old Party, for that matter. This according to a new interview in the October/November issue of Vibe magazine, where Weezy rips the nation’s right wingers for their political views (though, to be fair, he does seem to share their opinion on taxes ), and said that they’re not concerned with — or interested in — working with African-Americans. “You learn from what the right-wing is doing and you take something from it,” he said. “I feel like as a people, the most that we can do is better ourselves and learn. Then look at yourself and ask, ‘Am I the person they’re talking about or am I not?’ You have to make the most of who you are because the Republicans are never going to like us.” In the interview, Wayne also touches on the far-right’s treatment of President Obama, saying that, while he understands some of their criticisms on Obama’s handling of the economy, he feels that most of their attacks have more to do with his racial background than his policies. “I don’t think I have to say that for everybody to know that,” he said. And while he may be frustrated with the current fractious state of politics, Wayne can take solace in the fact that, at least there seems to a national consensus on his Tha Carter IV album, which sits atop the Billboard albums chart for the second week in a row.
