MRC-TV: Bozell on Fox Biz Discussing NYT Columnists Attacking Obama From the Left

“Has the mainstream media — which turns left — have they abandoned the president on his economic policies?” Stuart Varney asked NewsBusters Publisher Brent Bozell in a brief interview held shortly after 10 a.m. today. The Media Research Center founder answered in the affirmative, noting that staunch liberals in the mainstream media think Obama is too conservative on his spending plans: BRENT BOZELL: It’s the columnists, particularly for the New York Times. It’s the four horsemen of the apocalypse from the Times. It’s Paul Krugman, it’s Frank Rich, it’s Maureen Dowd, it’s that crowd, they are out to get Obama now. Not from the right, from the left. STUART VARNEY: Yeah. I mean Bob Herbert, I think it was just yesterday, talking about the failure of the president’s policy. Missed opportunity. He wants another trillion dollar stimulus program. So does Paul Krugman. To watch the full interview, watch the embedded video above at right.

NYT’s Herbert: Obama and Democrats Wasted Once In a Lifetime Opportunity

Add New York Times columnist Bob Herbert to the growing list of liberal media members realizing that Barack Obama’s campaign slogan “Hope and Change” was nothing but a great sales pitch. “Mr. Obama and the Democrats have wasted the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity handed to them in the 2008 election,” wrote Herbert Tuesday. “They did not focus on jobs, jobs, jobs as their primary mission.”  No, they sure didn’t. Instead, they worked on a stimulus package that has done nothing but add to the debt, a healthcare bill that WILL do nothing but add to the debt, and a cap and trade bill that if ever passed will cost jobs in virtually every industry. As Herbert continued, he surprisingly noted how disappointed Americans are in the failure of this administration to do what the country needed most: Mr. Obama had campaigned on the mantra of change, and that would have been the kind of change that working people could have gotten behind. But it never happened. Job creation was the trump card in the hand held by Mr. Obama and the Democrats, but they never played it. And now we’re paying a fearful price. The Obama administration feels it should get a great deal of credit for its economic stimulus efforts, its health care initiative, its financial reform legislation, its vastly increased aid to education and so forth. And maybe if we were grading papers, there would be a fair number of decent marks to be handed out. By nearly 2 to 1, respondents to the most recent New York Times/CBS News poll believed the United States is on the wrong track…Fifty-four percent of respondents believed he does not have a clear plan for creating jobs. Only 45 percent approved of his overall handling of the economy, compared with 48 percent who disapproved.  It’s not too late for the president to turn things around, but there is no indication that he has any plan or strategy for doing it. Truth be told, he never did. “Hope and Change” wasn’t a plan for anything. It was a dream spun by a very well-spoken, charismatic man that liberal media members like Herbert fell in love with and married on Election Day 2008. Conservatives across the fruited plain tried to convince folks before the wedding that they were being sold a magic elixir by an astonishingly unqualified person that had never created a job for another human being in his entire life and didn’t have the slightest idea how. But love is blind, so much so that Herbert and his ilk assisted this man in selling the dream to others. Now that the fantasy has turned into a nightmare, we can only hope that folks like Herbert who are beginning to realize they were taken will be more concerned for their nation and their fellow citizens than the Party they support. After all, the Democrats have controlled Congress for three and half years, and the White House for seventeen months. Is the country better off today than it was in January 2007? Or January 2009? Are we any closer to a path that leads us to both answers being “Yes?” If not, and folks like Herbert are starting to realize it albeit it kicking and screaming, then maybe they should consider a divorce. This shouldn’t be tough for liberals – they do it all the time.

Bozell Column: The ‘Elusive’ Truth About Kagan

It’s not cute when reporters play dumb. Last year, when Barack Obama nominated Sonia Sotomayor for the Supreme Court, CBS anchor Katie Couric said labeling her “won’t be easy.” CBS reporter Wyatt Andrews found “no clear ideology” in her public record. This week, the Washington Post embarrassed themselves with a front-page story claiming “Obama has not chosen outspoken liberals in either of his first two opportunities to influence the makeup of the court.” That ridiculous sentence collides with a June 8 report by liberal Los Angeles Times legal reporter David Savage. “The early returns are in, and Justice Sonia Sotomayor is proving herself to be a reliable liberal vote on the Supreme Court. Cases this year on campaign speech, religion, juvenile crime, federal power and Miranda warnings resulted in an ideological split among the justices, and on every occasion, Sotomayor joined the liberal bloc.” That verdict came before Sotomayor voted with the gun-controllers in the Chicago gun-rights case; before Sotomayor voted for allowing public universities to deny recognition to Christian student groups who dare to oppose homosexuality; and before Sotomayor voted as part of a 6-3 minority that it shouldn’t be illegal to provide material support to groups defined by our government as foreign terrorists. Now match that record with what the liberal media claimed about Sotomayor. “You know, for a Democrat, she has a pretty conservative record,” NPR reporter Nina Totenberg announced on PBS’s “Charlie Rose” show last year. “In fact, on a lot of criminal law issues, you could say that she’s more conservative than some members of the Supreme Court, including Justice Scalia.” If Totenberg sold shoddy diet pills that fraudulently, she’d be a red-hot case for the Federal Trade Commission. So why should anyone believe the media are telling the truth now when they suggest Elena Kagan cannot be called liberal? Kagan’s views are “elusive,” the media chant in unison. They all tried to evade Kagan’s vivid writing as a college student in the Daily Princetonian in 1980, about how she cried and got drunk when Ronald Reagan won and “ultraconservative” Al D’Amato defeated her candidate, ultraliberal Democrat Liz Holtzman. She wished that “our emotion-packed conclusion that the world had gone mad, that liberalism was dead and that there was no longer any place for the ideals we held or the beliefs we espoused” would be replaced by the hope that the Reagan era would be “marked by American disillusionment with conservative programs and solutions, and that a new, revitalized, perhaps more leftist left will once again come to the fore.” Unbelievably, our journalistic geniuses can read that and say Kagan’s political views are “elusive.” In their deference to Obama, the networks barely mentioned Kagan for the six weeks between her nomination and her confirmation hearings. Conservative interest groups putting out complaints that she’d be a radical justice on abortion and “gay marriage” are not newsworthy, even though liberal interest groups ranting about “far right” Bush nominees were tenderly solicited by the same networks. One TV reporter filed one story that broke the mold. On June 3, CBS legal reporter Jan Crawford said documents in Thurgood Marshall’s papers in the Library of Congress showed that, “Kagan stood shoulder to shoulder with the liberal left, including on the most controversial issue Supreme Court nominees ever confront: abortion.” The White House was furious that Crawford would dare tell the truth about such a thing. “Their reaction has been to push back so strongly on allegations, as they would put it, that she’s a liberal,” she revealed. “Like there’s something wrong with that, like it’s a smear to say their nominee is a liberal.” When the hearings began, ranking Republican Sen. Jeff Sessions offered a devastating opening statement documenting Kagan’s extreme liberalism. He ran through her college thesis on socialism that worried about socialism’s demise, and her master’s thesis praising the activism of the Earl Warren Court. He noted how she worked for the Michael Dukakis for President campaign, and took a leave as a law school professor to help Joe Biden get liberal Justice Ruth Ginsburg confirmed.      If that’s ancient history, Sessions added that in 2005, Harvard Law School Dean Kagan joined three other leftist law school deans to write a letter in opposition to Sen. Lindsey Graham’s amendment on determining who was an “enemy combatant” in the War on Terror. She compared Graham’s amendment to the “fundamentally lawless” actions of “dictatorships.” The networks skipped those facts in brief, perfunctory news reports. Liberal partisans expect the “objective” media to spout obvious lies that there are no liberals to be found in Obama’s Supreme Court selections, that they have been far too “elusive” to be categorized. That is why Americans are turning away in droves: they’re not finding the media’s biases to be “elusive.”

From "Mogadishu Madness" to "American Jihadi"

After reading about an American youth who converted to Islam and joined an extremist insurgency in Africa, I realized he and I had unwittingly crossed paths a few years before. In Current TV’s “American Jihadi,” a new episode of the Vanguard documentary series airing Wednesday, I go looking for the young man pictured above. I wanted to find him, if not in the flesh, at least to trace his route from small-town high school boy to anti-American warrior. I was in the war-ravaged city of Mogadishu in 2006, one of the first American TV correspondents to see the place in years. An Islamic coalition calling itself the Islamic Court Union had seized control of the Somali capital and imposed an uneasy peace that at least possible to get inside the chaotic “failed state.” To me and many other Americans, Mogadishu was best known as the site of the military tragedy and movie “Black Hawk Down.” Twenty-six years old and no stranger to hot spots around the world, I was drawn by the spirit of adventure and a journalist’s curiosity, despite warnings from others—including my father, a seasoned war correspondent, that the story wasn’t worth the risk. It was. My colleague, Kaj Larsen, and I found Somali expatriates streaming back to their homeland by the thousands to pick up their lives in a spirit of hope and renewal, despite the ruins and hair-trigger tempers that were the legacy of a 15-year civil war. I interviewed Islamist leaders who had captured the city and listened to their pleas for peace and a chance to re-establish a nation. Accusing the Islamic Courts of having ties to Al Qaida, the U.S. government branded them as terrorists. Shortly after my return to the United States to put together my piece, “Mogadishu Madness,” Ethiopian troops invaded Somalia with U.S. military support and drove the Islamists into hiding. Somalia plunged back into war. As it turned out, in the flow of people arriving at the reopened international airport in Mogadishu during that brief period of peace was another twentysomething American. Drawn by a passion to help establish an Islamic state in Somalia, Omar Hammami had left his wife and family in Egypt and arrived in Mogadishu shortly after I did. Like many Somali Muslims who answered a call for jihad to fight off the Christian invaders from Ethiopia, Omar joined Al Shabaab, one of the most ruthless and determined factions that had previously fought each other but were now united against the foreigners. After rising to become a top field commander, Omar is now a prominent Internet propagandist for the Somali allies of Al Qaida who helps recruit other young Muslims from the West to enlist in the cause. In the past three years, at least 30 American and Canadian citizens have turned up fighting in Somalia with Al Shabaab, more than have joined any other extremist group affiliated with Al Qaida. In “American Jihadi,” I retrace Omar’s path from Bible Belt Christian to Islamic extremist. I flew to Daphne, Alabama with practically no leads and spent three days cruising bars and restaurants—local hangouts where I thought people Omar’s age might hang out. At a Hooters, I met a patron who vaguely remembered playing soccer with Omar as a kid, then another who believed her fianc

Olbermann: Palin a ‘Phony,’ ‘Idiot’

Name-calling isn’t just for 6-year-olds anymore. Keith Olbermann proved once again that Sarah Palin is the media’s favorite conservative to hate, mock and condemn when he called Palin an “idiot” who endorses “stupidity instead of intelligence.” Olbermann named “Sister Sarah” his “Worst Person in the World” on “Countdown” June 28 after Palin mistakenly said Ronald Reagan’s alma mater was “California’s Eureka College” during a speech at Cal State Stanislaus. Reagan attended Eureka College in his hometown of Eureka, Ill. In addition to labeling her speech a “gaffe fest,” Olbermann called her mistake “symbolic of her imbecility, her corner-cutting,” saying it was one of “perhaps, 100 things that brand her as a phony.” One wonders where Olbermann’s outrages was when then-candidate Obama mistakenly said in June 2008 that he’d been to 57 states. This isn’t the first time Olbermann has unleashed on a conservative woman. Olbermann gave Palin the moniker “Worst Person in the World” last May after Palin refused to appear on his show. Olbermann also called her “idiot-woman” once and “idiot” twice after Palin nixed a “Countdown” appearance. Olbermann has also ridiculed Minnesota Congresswoman Michele Bachmann in the past by comparing her son’s participation in Teach for America to a Star Wars-like crossing over to “the dark side.” During the 2008 presidential campaign, Olbermann also called Palin “sick” and an “out of control liar” for “cutting” her state’s special-needs program. The accusation was misleading-Palin had really increased the program’s funding by 10 percent.

NYT’s Stolberg: Kagan a ‘Brilliant Woman…Who Is Also Very Funny and Warm and Witty’

New York Times reporter Sheryl Gay Stolberg reported this tidbit Tuesday from the opening day of confirmation hearings for Elena Kagan , Obama’s nominee to replace Justice John Paul Stevens on the Supreme Court. Democrats described her as a brilliant thinker with what Senator Charles E. Schumer of New York called “unprecedented practical experience.” Stolberg had expressed the same feelings about Kagan the day before, roughly two minutes into the Monday edition of TimesCast , a brief news preview that airs every weekday at nytimes.com. Kagan is so “brilliant,” gushed Stolberg, that she didn’t even need help from White House staffers in preparing to face her Republican critics. Stolberg was confident the GOP would “have a tough time” confronting the “very funny and warm and witty” Kagan. They will try to paint her as a partisan, as a political lawyer, as someone who is more interested in a politically driven agenda than in applying the law in an even-handed way to judicial cases. And they’ll take her to task for never having been a judge. But I think they’ll have a tough time. Let’s not forget that Elena Kagan has been an academic. She is a brilliant woman. She’s somebody who is also very funny and warm and witty, and I think Americans will see that when they-when she comes before the Senate today . They will see somebody who has studied and thought deeply about the law, and it’s interesting. Many Supreme Court nominees go through the process known as ‘murder boards,’ where the White House will stage kind of a mock hearing, and people will play the role of senators, and they’ll grill nominees on how would you answer this or that. Elena Kagan has done some of that, White House officials tell me, but in fact she’s also spent a lot of time preparing for these hearings just on her own, just thinking about the issues and thinking about what she wants to say. White House officials say that that’s how she wanted to prepare, and frankly she doesn’t really need the kind of murder boards that other Supreme Court nominees have needed.

Is Toxic Corexit Killing Crops In Mississippi?

Kurt Nimmo at infowars. June 25, 2010. “Yobie Benjamin writing for The San Francisco Chronicle, is reporting what nobody else in the corporate media is reporting — a mysterious disease has stricken crops in Mississippi and it may be connected to the BP oil gusher. “It seems like damage brought by the oil gusher has spread way beyond the ocean, coastal areas and beaches. Collateral damage now appears to include agricultural damage way inland Mississippi,” writes Benjamin. The disease has caused widespread damage to plants from weeds to farmed organic and conventionally grown crops. Benjamin believes the disease is the result of BP spraying the oil dispersant Corexit 9500 in the Gulf of Mexico. Corexit 9500 is believed to be responsible for widespread reports of oil cleanup crews reporting various injuries including respiratory distress, dizziness and headaches. “Dispersants have never been applied on this scale, leaving environmental scientists guessing about the consequences. Corexit may have caused seven cleanup workers to be admitted to the hospital with shortness of breath and nausea,” reports Popular Science. “Many have focused their concerns about Corexit… on what it’s doing under the water. But as we know, the oceans are part of a larger precipitation cycle, and scientists are worried that soon the consequences of using dispersants could be falling from the sky,” writes Beth Buczynski for Care2, an environmental website. The EPA asked BP to stop using Corexit, which is banned in 18 countries due to its toxicity, but the oil transnational has refused.” added by: futuregen

The girl who must eat every 15 minutes to stay alive

In fact, the 21-year-old from Austin, Texas, must eat every 15 minutes to stay healthy. Miss Velasquez has a rare condition which prevents her from gaining weight even though she eats up to 60 small meals a day. Despite consuming between 5,000 and 8,000 calories daily, the communications student, has never tipped over 4st 3lbs. “I weigh myself regularly and if I gain even one pound I get really excited,” said 5ft 2 ins Miss Velasquez, who wears size triple zero clothes. “I eat every 15-20 minutes to keep my energy levels up. “I eat small portions of crisps, sweets, chocolate, pizza, chicken, cake, doughnuts, ice cream, noodles and pop tarts all day long, so I get pretty upset when people accuse me of being anorexic.” She was born four weeks prematurely weighing just 2lb 10oz. Doctors found there was minimal amniotic fluid protecting her in the womb. “They told us they had no idea how she could have survived,” said Miss Velasquez's mother Rita, 45, a church secretary. Doctors speculated Lizzie might have the genetic disorder De Barsy syndrome but soon ruled it out as it became clear she did not have learning difficulties. “They kept on trying to figure out what was wrong with her but we treated her like any other child,” said Mrs Velasquez, who charted her daughter's health in dozens of notebooks. She was taken to see genetic experts but they still could not diagnose her. Miss Velasquez's case has fascinated doctors all over the world and she is part of a genetic study run by Professor Abhimanyu Garg, MD, at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. Professor Garg and his team now believe Lizzie may have a form of Neonatal Progeroid Syndrome (NPS) which causes accelerated ageing, fat loss from the face and body, and tissue degeneration. People with PRS often have triangular and prematurely aged faces with a pointy nose. He said: “I am aware of a small number of people that have similar conditions to Lizzie but each case is slightly different. “We cannot predict what will happen to Lizzie in the future as the medical community are yet to document older people with NPS. “However Lizzie is lucky to have healthy teeth, organs and bones so the outlook is good. We will continue to study her case and learn from her.” Miss Velasquez has helped to write a book about her incredible experiences. It is due to be released in September. added by: cclark_productions

What Obama and BP Are Hiding From the General Public – Oil Volcano Unstoppable

http://graphics8.nytimes.com/images/2010/05/05/learning/oilslickLN/oilslickLN-bl… Oil Volcano Pressure Too Strong For Containment It has been estimated by experts that the pressure which blows the oil into the Gulf waters is estimated to be between 20,000 and 70,000 PSI (pounds per square inch). Impossible to control. What US Scientists Are Forbidden To Tell The Public About The Gulf What you are about to read, is what the scientists in the United States are not allowed to tell you in great fear of the Obama administration. They are under the threat of severe repercussions to the max.. Scientists confirming these findings cannot be named due to the above, but what they believe, they want to be known by all. Take a U. S. map, lay it flat and measure inland just the minimum 50 miles of total destruction all around the Gulf of Mexico as to what you will read below. The carnage to the United States is so staggering, it will take your breathe away. Should what the scientists who are trying to warn everyone about be even close to being true… all of Florida will be completely destroyed as will everyone and everything on it. You decide!! Everyone has the right to read what I have just written in this article, as well as to what is written below by the scientists who the Obama administration and BP are trying to shut up. Please share with as many as you can. –Dr. James P. Wickstrom SUMMARY OF WHAT IS HAPPENING The estimated super high pressure release of oil from under the earth's crust is between 80,000 to 100,000 barrels per day. The flow of oil and toxic gases is bringing up with it… rocks and sand which causes the flow to create a sandblasting effect on the remaining well head device currently somewhat restricting the flow, as well as the drilled hole itself. As the well head becomes worn it enlarges the passageway allowing an ever-increasing flow. Even if some device could be placed onto the existing wellhead, it would not be able to shut off the flow, because what remains of the existing wellhead would not be able to contain the pressure. The well head piping is originally about 2 inches thick. It is now likely to be less than 1 inch thick, and thinning by each passing moment. The oil has now reached the Gulf Stream and is entering the Oceanic current which is at least four times stronger than the current in the Gulf, which will carry it throughout the world within 18 months. The oil along with the gasses, including benzene and many other toxins, is deleting the oxygen in the water. This is killing all life in the ocean. Along with the oil along the shores, there will be many dead fish, etc. that will have to be gathered and disposed of. SUMMARY OF EXPECTATIONS At some point the drilled hole in the earth will enlarge itself beneath the wellhead to weaken the area the wellhead rests upon. The intense pressure will then push the wellhead off the hole allowing a direct unrestricted flow of oil, etc. The hole will continue to increase in size allowing more and more oil to rise into the Gulf. After several billion barrels of oil have been released, the pressure within the massive cavity five miles beneath the ocean floor will begin to normalize. This will allow the water, under the intense pressure at 1 mile deep, to be forced into the hole and the cavity where the oil was. The temperature at that depth is near 400 degrees, possibly more. The water will be vaporized and turned into steam, creating an enormous amount of force, lifting the Gulf floor. It is difficult to know how much water will go down to the core and therefore, its not possible to fully calculate the rise of the floor. The tsunami wave this will create will be anywhere from 20 to 80 feet high, possibly more. Then the floor will fall into the now vacant chamber. This is how nature will seal the hole. Depending on the height of the tsunami, the ocean debris, oil, and existing structures that will be washed away on shore and inland, will leave the area from 50 to 200 miles inland devoid of life. Even if the debris is cleaned up, the contaminants that will be in the ground and water supply will prohibit re-population of these areas for an unknown number of years.
