Kate Middleton: Feeling Great, Excited to Be a Mom!

The pregnant Kate Middleton is reportedly feeling great these days, despite her early morning sickness, and could not be more excited to be a mom. She has not, however, decided what she will name the royal heir(ess). “Nobody knows what William and Kate are calling their baby or even if they have decided on a name or names, for that matter,” a royal source says. “They are keeping everything to themselves. The Duke and Duchess take their privacy very seriously. They are not speaking to anyone about private matters.” And while Middleton is obviously getting closer and closer to her July 3 due date (approximately) a source tells E! that “Kate is feeling great.” “She’s continuing to feel much better as time goes on.” “Naturally, she’s very excited about being a mum.” And making the necessary preparations apparently. Earlier this week, Kate Middleton and Prince William got the go-ahead to make some privacy-increasing modifications to their potential country retreat. Kate recently revealed – supposedly – that she’s expecting a girl , which would be awesome in that she would thus inherit the throne under the new succession rules. This has not been confirmed by the couple, of course. If it really is a girl, what should she name it?   Alice Caroline Charlotte Diana Eleanor Matilda Victoria Something else! Matt Lauer to Be Fired By NBC?!

Embattled Today host Matt Lauer may soon be fired by NBC if the tanking morning show’s fortunes don’t turn around fast, according to a new report. Lauer’s popularity has plummeted in the past year, according to the New York Times , and execs met with the staff to discuss the show’s struggles. Staff members were alleged told that, “what matters most is the anchor connection to the audience; what we need to work on is that connection.” “What they meant was Matt. But no one would say it,” one senior staff member told the Times about the meeting held to to discuss Today focus group data. Lauer was not at that meeting. Employees who spoke to the Times said that Lauer may be flat-out fired soon, but at best, his contract will not be renewed when it expires in 2014. It’s a stunning blow and dramatic downturn for a sexy beast who has helmed a morning show powerhouse for many years and makes $25 million per. That all feels like ancient history now, though. The firing of Ann Curry , and how poorly Lauer and NBC handled it , is largely seen as the catalyst for this fiasco. The question is whether it can be reversed. A source at the show says on the condition of anonymity: “The staff doesn’t like to see Matt lose his job, but it’s time for a change. It’s just too bad that the network fumbled the entire situation with Ann and Matt.” “Network bosses just gave Matt too much power.” How bad has it gotten? Lauer’s Q Rating, a standard used to measure popularity, crashed from 19 to 9 from last September to January 2013. That sent NBC scrambling to rehab their anchor’s image, with Lauer speaking out recently and saying his bosses were to blame for the Curry debacle. That didn’t sit well with Ann, who apparently wishes Matt would just shut up . Bottom line, it’s a mess over there, which begs the obvious question: Should NBC fire Matt Lauer?   Yes. Time for a change, and he deserves it. No! If Matt goes, I go! View Poll »

Keith Olberman Settles Lawsuit With Current TV

Keith Olbermann’s legal war with Current TV has reportedly ended. The perennially perturbed personality filed a $50 million lawsuit upon his termination from Current one year ago. He will indeed receive a ” significant payout .” The exact amount will not be known until it’s leaked in a few hours. In his legal complaint, Olbermann accused Current co-founders Joel Hyatt and Al Gore of being “dilettantes portraying entertainment executives.” He claimed they breached his contract in all sorts of ways, forced him to work in substandard conditions and even sought to smear him in the press. The alleged dilettantes in question can afford to pay whatever it takes to make the case go away, having sold Current to Al Jazeera for $500 million. The network is being overhauled and will become Al Jazeera America. Seriously. Olbermann’s also working on a reinvention, again. The former ESPN and MSNBC mainstay is reportedly looking for work, but no one’s bitten since October. Wonder why.

Clap Back: Michele Bachman Responds To The The Roots’ Song Choice During Her Jimmy Fallon Appearance

Awww po’ thang… As we reported earlier today, Jimmy Fallon’s house band The Roots, had a very specific song that they wanted to play as GOP Presidential candidate Michele Bachmann walked out onto the stage last night. GOP presidential candidate Michele Bachmann is lashing out at NBC for not apologizing or taking immediate disciplinary action for an off-color song played during her appearance on Jimmy Fallon’s “Late Night.” (Msnbc.com is a joint venture of Microsoft and NBC Universal.) Bachmann said Wednesday on the Fox News Channel that the Fallon show band displayed sexism and bias by playing a snippet of a 1985 Fishbone song. The title of the song is “Lyin’ Ass B—-.” Fallon has tweeted an apology to Bachmann for “the intro mess” during her appearance earlier in the week. But Bachmann expressed surprise that the TV network hasn’t apologized or disciplined the show’s Roots band. “This is clearly a form of bias on the part of the Hollywood entertainment elite,” Bachmann said. She added, “This wouldn’t be tolerated if this was Michelle Obama. It shouldn’t be tolerated if it’s a conservative woman either.” Whoa dere…first things first, just because your name is “Michele” doesn’t mean that you are ANYTHING like Michelle Obama! Furthermore, there are MANY reported discrepancies in the the stories you’ve have told about receiving gov’t funds for businesses that you own or benefit from. Let’s be clear… Not for nothin’, but Bachmann shouldn’t feel too bad, The Roots have done this same thing a several people. The Roots frequently make sly, often obscure, song choices as Fallon’s guests are introduced. When Fox Business Network’s Lou Dobbs came out, they played part of Genesis’ “Illegal Alien,” a reference to Dobbs’ frequent commentaries on the topic. Current TV host Keith Olbermann, formerly of MSNBC, heard part of Klymaxx’s “I Miss You.” Kathie Lee Gifford was saluted with UB40′s “Red Red Wine,” a reference to the drink she often shares on-air with “Today” co-host Hoda Kotb. When The Checks Start Coming In: “Permed Up” Al Sharpton Closing In On A New Anchoring Gig With MSNBC

Al Sharpton is making it rain on those MSNBC folks: After giving a nearly six-month tryout for the Internet talk show host Cenk Uygur, the cable news channel MSNBC is preparing to instead hand its 6 p.m. time slot to the Rev. Al Sharpton. Mr. Sharpton’s imminent hiring, which was acknowledged by three people at the channel on condition of anonymity because the contract had not been signed, is significant in part because MSNBC and other news channels have been criticized for a paucity of minority hosts in prominent time slots. Mr. Sharpton, who is black and is a well-known civil rights activist and radio host, has been guest hosting in the 6 p.m. time slot for the last three weeks. There had been uncertainty about the 6 p.m. slot ever since the channel’s marquee anchor, Keith Olbermann, departed in January, prompting Ed Schultz to be moved to 10 p.m. from 6. Suddenly Mr. Uygur, who had been made a paid contributor to MSNBC months earlier, was handed 6 p.m., a big coup given that he had earlier campaigned to have his progressive Web show “The Young Turks” picked up by MSNBC. He earned solid but not stand-out ratings; in late June the channel’s president, Phil Griffin, decided to try out Mr. Sharpton, and offered Mr. Uygur a new contract that included a weekend show, but not a higher-profile weekday show. Okay, Al…we see you getting that 6pm slot. Via NYTimes

Before Keith Olbermann created his own little empire at Current TV (and, yes, did the whole MS NBC thing), he worked as an anchor at Fox Sports. On Tuesday night’s Countdown , he talked about being blackmailed the company for reporting that Rupert Murdoch was trying to sell the Los Angeles Dodgers . “They offered an alternative. Keith Olbermann to Debut on Current TV June 20

Keith Olbermann, the controversial, progressive commentator who abruptly left MSNBC in January, will return June 20 at his next home, Current TV. The new Countdown with Keith Olbermann will air weeknights at 8 p.m. on the relatively new Current channel, co-founded by former V.P. Al Gore. “The show will combine familiar and popular features with some new elements we can’t wait to unveil,” says Mark Rosenthal, Current TV CEO. MSNBC fired Keith Olbermann unexpectedly early this year, sparking outcry from fans (and some chuckles from critics) and questions of where he would land. As part of his new deal , he also becomes Current’s chief news officer, a position he said was still defined when his Current deal was announced in February. Love him or hate him, Olbermann earned big ratings for MSNBC and was credited with helping create a progressive alternative to conservative talk shows. The precise events that led to his sudden exit in January remain somewhat unclear, but it’ll be interesting to see what following he develops on Current.
