Gisele Bundchen in a Bikini: Yup, Still Gorgeous!

Gisele Bundchen looks great in a bikini. You know. In case you were wondering. We’re here to clear up these burning questions and resolve things for you. Seriously, though, how does she do it? The supermodel flaunts her supermom figure in Calzedonia’s new swimwear campaign, having recently had a kid! In case you’re wondering what happened, the Brazilian beauty told Vogue back in April her simple plan for keeping off the weight, post- baby Benjamin … “I think a lot of people get pregnant and decide they can turn into garbage disposals. I was mindful about what I ate, and I gained only 30 pounds.” Women everywhere might want to kill her right about now. Gisele may or may not be of this world .

Jon Voight: Barack Obama Promotes Anti-Semitism, Civil War in Arizona

To say Jon Voight is not a huge fan of Barack Obama would probably be a fairly safe statement, but Angelina Jolie’s estranged father has really outdone himself now. Slamming the Commander-in-Chief again in an open letter in the Washington Post , the 71-year-old staunch Republican makes some pretty strong accusations. Jon’s views, in a nutshell: Barack Obama propagandizes and hates Jews while defending criminals, illegal immigrants and terrorists for political gain. Harsh. The letter makes his anti-health care rant seem tame. Here’s what Voight had to say about Obama, who he previously termed a ” false prophet ” and his controversial foreign and domestic policies. Do you agree? “President Obama: “You will be the first American president that lied to the Jewish people, and the American people as well, when you said that you would defend Israel, the only Democratic state in the Middle East, against all their enemies.” “You have done the opposite.” “You have propagandized Israel, until they look like they are everyone’s enemy – and it has resonated throughout the world. You are putting Israel in harm’s way, and you have promoted anti-Semitism throughout the world.” “You have brought this to a people who have given the world the Ten Commandments and most laws we live by today. The Jewish people have given the world our greatest scientists and philosophers, and the cures for many diseases.” “Now you are playing a very dangerous game so you can look like a true martyr to what you see and say are the underdogs. But the underdogs you defend are murderers and criminals who want Israel eradicated.” “You have brought to Arizona a civil war, once again defending the criminals and illegals, creating a meltdown for good, loyal, law-abiding citizens.” “Your destruction of this country may never be remedied. We may never recover.” “I pray to God you stop, and I hope the people in this great country realize your agenda is not for the betterment of mankind, but for the betterment of your politics.” With heartfelt and deep concern for America and Israel, Jon Voight” Umm, sure. What do you think? Is Jon going too far with these remarks? Is the President really fostering destruction from which we may never recover? Interestingly, Us Weekly recently reported that Angelina Jolie has often gotten into some heated fights over Obama with beau Brad Pitt. “She’s into education and rehabilitation and thinks Obama is all about welfare and handouts,” a source said. “She thinks Obama is really a socialist in disguise.” Is Barack Obama a communist?

87 Senators Sign Letter Urging Obama’s Support of Israel, Media Mostly Mum

On Monday, 87 Senators signed a letter to President Obama affirming their support for Israel while urging his. This comes in response to last month’s highly-publicized flotilla incident in the Mediterranean Sea and the United Nations predictable anti-Israel reaction. A similar letter has been circulated in the House that has apparently garnered 307 signatures. Despite the overwhelming bipartisan outcry — something rather rare in Washington these days to be sure — very few American media outlets bothered to report the news. Fortunately, the Hill published the following Wednesday (h/t Weasel Zippers ): Led by Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) and Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) – and signed by 85 other members of the upper chamber – the letter argues that Israel’s blockade of Gaza was both legal and necessary, and that Israeli commandos were acting in self-defense when they landed on the ship. “[V]ideo footage shows that the Israeli commandos who arrived on the sixth ship, which was owned by the Turkish Humanitarian Relief Foundation (the IHH), were brutally attacked with iron rods, knives, and broken glass,” the senators wrote. “They were forced to respond to that attack and we regret the loss of life that resulted,” the letter adds. The bipartisan group of lawmakers urged Obama to oppose a resolution in the United Nations critical of Israel. According to JTA.org, a similar letter has been signed by 307 Representatives in the House. Yet, besides the Hill, LexisNexis and Google News searches produced only Agence France-Presse and UPI reporting this news in the States. No newspapers, no television outlets, and no Associated Press. Why might that be? For those interested, full text with signatories of the Senate letter is available here . Readers are advised that too many of the signatures were illegible making it impossible to know who the thirteen Senators that didn’t sign the letter are. Stay tuned.

Networks Snoozing on Hoyer Suggesting Dems Won’t Vote to Continue Bush Tax Cuts for Middle Class

Between the ongoing Gulf oil spill and the McChrystal row, this story is bound to get put on the back burner, but it still deserves attention by the broadcast and cable news media. Yesterday I wrote about the Washington Post burying its story on House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer saying that congressional Democrats were not wedded to President Obama’s 2008 campaign pledge to not raise taxes on anyone earning less than $250,000 per year. Asked about those remarks at yesterday’s White House press briefing , Robert Gibbs said he had not seen the comments and would “be happy to look at and try to get a response after this [briefing].” Hours later, The Hill newspaper’s Alexander Bolton filed a story that noted it’s not just Hoyer who’s staking out this position : Democrats are looking at the possibility of raising taxes on families below the $250,000-a-year threshold promised by President Barack Obama during the election. The majority party on Capitol Hill does not feel bound by that pledge, saying the threshold for tax hikes will depend on several factors, such as the revenue differences between setting the threshold at $200,000 and setting it at $250,000. “You could go lower, too — why not $200,000?” said Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.). “With the debt and deficit we have, you can’t make promises to people. This is a very serious situation.” Sen. Byron Dorgan (N.D.), chairman of the Senate Democratic Policy Committee, concurred, saying, “I don’t think there’s any magic in the number, whether it’s $250,000, $200,000 or $225,000. “The larger question is whether we’ll be able to extend the tax cuts for middle-income folks,” Dorgan said. “The answer, I expect, would be yes, but we don’t quite know how it all fits in the larger picture.” It’s certainly a compelling news story in a midterm election year. Thus far, however, the broadcast network morning shows and evening newscasts have ignored the story.

MSNBC Looks to Lefty Ed Schultz for Reaction on Obama’s ‘Brilliant’ Firing of McChrystal

Only 70 minutes after President Obama explained his decision to fire General Stanley McChrystal, Wednesday, MSNBC turned to leftist host Ed Schultz for analysis. Schultz gushed that the decision proved Obama is “brilliant on the basics.” He enthused, ” Well, as commander in chief, I think it’s probably President Obama’s finest hour ,” because it displayed toughness. Host Tamron Hall knocked McChrystal, referencing his role in the investigation of Army Ranger Pat Tillman. She derided, ” So, we know that McChrystal has a lot of, if you will, Xs on his report card. ” Hall and Schultz continued to frame the discussion from how it impacted the left. She worried, “For those on the left and progressives who are not happy with this war this Afghanistan who were disappointed when the President decided to commit more troops, what does that say that he’s emphasizing that this is not about policy, that he’s committed to the direction he’s chosen with this unpopular war?” Later in the hour, Hall brought on Ryan Grimm of the liberal Huffington Post to discuss McChrystal. MSNBC apparently spans the spectrum of the left and the far left. A transcript of the June 23 segment, which aired at 2:22pm EDT, follows: TAMRON HALL: We’re getting more reaction to the breaking news that top U.S. Commander in Afghanistan General Stanley McChrystal has been relieved of his command. He’s said to be replaced by General David Petraeus. Let’s bring in MSNBC’s Ed Schultz, the host of the Ed Show to react to it. Ed, I know you’re listening to a lot of callers on your radio show. You’ve got thoughts on this. What do you make of the President’s decision and what are the callers saying? ED SCHULTZ: Well, as commander in chief, I think it’s probably President Obama’s finest hour, because he’s answering a lot of critics with about how you wasn’t tough enough or couldn’t make a decision. Didn’t have any experience. This man went back to the basics. The President showed us that he’s brilliant on the basics. It’s about team. It’s about the civilian control, it’s about the democracy and how we work. And we’re not going to have anybody in a position of leadership and authority to go off and do what President- do what General McChrystal did. So I think the President was very clear and I personally got a sense in watching the President today that, you know, it just wasn’t the Rolling Stone article. It’s like there was other stuff there. That there’s a lot of stuff- HALL: Well, we know what happened last fall in London with the remarks made there. Also, the Pat Tillman investigation and what it has revealed, as well. So, we know that McChrystal has a lot of, if you will, Xs on his report card. SCHULTZ: True. And- But even beyond those as we know publicly there’s somewhat of a pattern there, I just got a sense that there was a little bit more and the President had somewhat of an angst about him. You know, I’ve had enough of this. He actually went back and paralleled a quote of President Truman about, you know, it’s not one person, not one war, something like that. But the President went to the basics: Trust, loyalty, the conduct code, deep rooted with the privates. All the way through, the discipline. You lose the discipline, you lose the break down of completing the mission and you compromise the mission. And now of course the story is General Petraeus, who I think, ironically, is probably going to get more bipartisan support than anything else in Washington. HALL: [Laughs] And you very well may be right on that as he’s been praised by Republicans many times over and some Democrats. But, let me ask you this: People talked about and have talked about the President’s response to the oil disaster. The critics say he’s shown weakness. His numbers show that most Americans are not confidence in the way he’s handled this. Where does this position him now? I know there are two very different issue, but it is about leadership with both. SCHULTZ: Well, I think the President personally did show leadership in the gulf from day one. He’s dealing with a multinational. There were contracts in it place that had to be adhered to when there is an oil spill and certain mechanisms had to kick in. No one predicted early on what this was going to evolve to. HALL: right. SCHULTZ: The administration was lied to by BP. First they said there wasn’t that much coming out and it grew as the days went on. And I thought the proper reaction was there by the President. So, I think he’s being wrongly criticized for it. The President goes out and gets $20 billion from a company that’s butchering our environment and the Republicans are criticizing him for it. I find it absolutely amazing. It just goes to show how divided we are in this country. HALL: And let me bring up something the President said regarding the transition from McChrystal to Petraeus. He said, “This has nothing to do with policy, nothing to do with personal insult.” For those on the left and progressives who are not happy with this war this Afghanistan who were disappointed when the President decided to commit more troops, what does that say that he’s emphasizing that this is not about policy, that he’s committed to the direction he’s chosen with this unpopular war? SCHULTZ: The President wants a successful mission. He’s going to get the right people in the right place to finish the job. And I’m sure that he probably turned to General Petraeus and said this is what the mission is, can you get it done. Petraeus went along with it, obviously. It’s about team, it’s about working together. The President was very clear that he encourages debate, but he does not want division. And you certainly don’t go out and air dirty laundry. Now, your question about the left. There are a lot of Americans out there who believe that this mission is a fool’s errand in Afghanistan. We’ve got a lot of issues at home, we’re gutting our infrastructure. But the President, to me, seemed very committed today to knowing that this is the strategy that we have to follow in his best judgment to make sure that we fight the terrorists on their turf. And so I thought the President was very clear on where he’s going on this.

It’s The Troops Stupid! General Stanley McChrystal’s Burning Disgust for the Puppet Obama…(VIDEO)

General McChrystal’s Burning Contempt for the Puppet Obama Kurt Nimmo Infowars.com June 22, 2010 The farce that is the war in Afghanistan is coming apart at the seams. General Stanley McChrystal’s sharp comments about Obama, Biden, and the administration published by Rolling Stone are not so much about disrespect, as the script-reading corporate media talking heads would have it, but rather about a policy in disarray in Afghanistan. Judge Strikes Down Obama’s Offshore Drilling Ban

Photo via the Telegraph A federal judge in New Orleans blocked the Obama administration’s 6 month moratorium on deep water offshore drilling. According to the New York Times , the judge Martin L. C. Feldman wrote in a 22-page opinion that “The blanket moratorium … seems to assume that because one rig failed and although no one yet fully knows why, all companies and rigs drilling new wells over 500 feet also universally present an imminent danger.” He said the offshore ban would cause “punitive” economic harm and was unwarranted. Hillary Clinton: Gay Rights Are Human Rights

Obama, Clinton vow to defend gay rights, adding 'it's not who we are as Americans' By Elise Labott, CNN Senior State Department Producer June 23, 2010 1:48 a.m. EDT Washington (CNN) — President Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton pledged to end violence and discrimination against gays and lesbians at home and abroad Tuesday, as the Obama administration moves to extend further benefits to gays working in the federal government. “It's not right, it's not who we are as Americans, and we're going to put a stop to it,” Obama told a raucous White House reception honoring Gay and Lesbian Pride Month. Earlier, Clinton received several standing ovations from a standing-room only crowd of several hundred during her address at an event co-hosted by the State Department's Office of Civil Rights and GLIFAA, the organization for Gays and Lesbians in Foreign Affairs Agencies. “We are moving together in the right direction,” said Clinton. “We reaffirm our commitment to protect the rights of all human beings.” The White House event invited politicians and government officials as well as lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender American from across the country, including young people “who have stood up for equality,” said White House spokesman Shin Inouye. At a similar event last year, six months after Obama took office, participants expressed frustration over what they called a lack of progress in confronting discrimination issues that the president had promised to resolve. This time, Obama received loud applause, cheers and whistles as he cited steps his administration has taken, including a new hate crimes law, extending federal benefits to gay employees and a push for an employee discrimination bill. The Obama administration is expected to announce Wednesday that gay workers will be able to take medical leave to care for the sick or newborn children of their same-sex partners as part of the Family and Medical Leave Act, which generally allows those working for companies with 50 or more employees to take 12 unpaid weeks off to care for newborns or children with serious health issues. “And finally, we're going to end “don't ask, don't tell,” Obama said Tuesday of the policy that prohibits openly gay and lesbian soldiers from military service. A bill that would repeal the policy after a Pentagon review is completed in December is before Congress, the president noted. “We have never been closer to ending this discriminatory policy, and I'm going to keep on fighting until that bill is on my desk,” he said to cheers. Attending the event was Janice Langbehn of Lacey, Washington, who was denied hospital visitation rights when her partner of 18 years, Lisa Pond, was stricken with a fatal brain aneurysm while on vacation in Florida. Obama mentioned her story on Tuesday, calling the way she was treated “wrong” and “cruel.” Earlier, Clinton said she is asking embassies in Africa and elsewhere to report on rights of the local lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender communities. The State Department also is placing more attention on ensuring gays around the world have access to HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment, and providing grants to human rights activists who are persecuted either because they are gay or defend gay rights, she said. “These dangers are not gay issues. This is a human rights issue,” Clinton said. She drew more rousing applause when she declared “human rights are gay rights and gay rights are human rights,” a variation on the phrase she famously delivered in Beijing 10 years ago declaring “women's rights are human rights.” Clinton said she is equally concerned about creating an environment at the State Department in which gay employees feel valued and “can give 100 percent.” That is why, she said, she supported offering equal benefits to same-sex partners of State Department employees, a move that encouraged Obama to authorize such benefits for gays throughout the federal government. She noted the State Department also has made it easier for transgender people to change their passports and, for the first time, the agency's “equal opportunity statement” will include gender identity. It already includes sexual orientation. CNN's Suzanne Malveaux contributed to this report added by: EthicalVegan

New Conservative Meme: Obama Forces "Shakedowns," "Show Trials" Over Spill

Barton apologizing to BP (photo via flickr) The word has gone out to the conservative establishment that Obama can’t “win” on the BP oil spill and that labels, accusations, and lies are needed to change the framing of the story from one in which the president takes deliberate and necessary action to one in which he’s let the country down. Last week, Rep. Joe Barton sparked the meme that Obama is a “shakedown” artist who is pressuring a private corporation into action. Although his peers in his own party ran for cover … Read the full story on TreeHugger

Schultz Steamed Beck ‘Allowed’ On Airwaves

Jonah Goldberg might want to file this one away for his sequel to Liberal Fascism . . . On his MSNBC show this evening, Ed Schultz sputtered that it’s “pathetic” that Glenn Beck is “on the airwaves in this country” and “allowed” to express his opposition to public schools and support for home-schooling and vouchers. Schultz aired a clip in which Beck had this to say . . . GLENN BECK: The problem in America is we’re being indoctrinated from dawn until dusk, every single day, seven days a week. We’re being indoctrinated by Washington, we’re being indoctrinated by our unions, we’re being indoctrinated in our schools, we’re being indoctrinated in the media. We’re being indoctrinated!  What are you even talking about? You’re darn right we should abolish public schools. Here’s Schultz, in the course of commenting . . . ED SCHULTZ: This guy’s dangerous!  He’s a huge supporter of home-schooling and private-school vouchers. And this is an admission that he really does want two Americas. And I think it’s pathetic that somebody’s on the airwaves in this country that’s allowed to say this kind of garbage. It’s against the foundation of this country and everything that this country has stood for when it comes to opportunity in education. And he wants to take that away? Say Ed, why not advocate the establishment, say, of the House Un-American Media Activities Committee? How about a new Obama czar, empowered to determine which pundits are permitted on the air, and what they’re “allowed” to say?
