Michael Vick Meets With Lawmakers At Pennsylvania Capitol To Discuss Dog Protection Bill Even after almost 10 years, Michael Vick is still atoning for his dog-fighting transgressions back in 2007. To this day, there are still many people who cannot forgive the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback for his mistreatment of animals. It should be noted that a lot of those folks care more about the dogs abused than the black men shot in the streets by law enforcement, but we digress. According to ESPN , Vick met with legislators at the Pennsylvania state capitol to impress upon them the importance of passing a bill that protects dogs who are left in hot cars during the summer. Vick is scheduled to meet with Pennsylvania lawmakers Tuesday in support of PA House Bill 1516, or the pets in cars bill, which would give police officers authority to rescue dogs and cats from cars due to unsafe temperatures. “I know that I’m an unlikely advocate,” Vick said through a representative. “I was part of the problem. Now, my perspective can help reach people that activists can’t reach. I can help others become agents of change.” Schoolchildren from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, will accompany Vick to the state legislature to lobby the Democratic caucus, according to the spokesperson. Representatives Jake Wheatley Jr. and Ed Gainey will host the visit. Vick has not only showed contrition, but he’s gone above and beyond what most PEOPLE, let alone athletes, would do to campaign for change and speak out against animal abuse. In recent years, Vick has led advocacy efforts for animals and at-risk children. He has publicly supported the Animal Fighting Spectator Prohibition Act, which President Barack Obama signed in 2014. “All animals require kindness and respect,” Vick said. “They depend on us, like children depend on us. The New York Daily News’ cover in the wake of yesterday’s San Bernardino, Calif., massacre is both provocative and highly political. By design. The publication calls out those it feels could do something to end the plague of gun violence, but instead revert to useless platitudes, time after time. The tweet of the Daily News front page, which hits newsstands in print form this morning, is already the most retweeted of 2015 for the paper. Beneath the headline God Isn’t Fixing This, the cover reads: “As latest batch of innocent Americans are left lying in pools of blood, cowards who could truly end gun scourge continue to hide behind meaningless platitudes.” U.S. House Speaker Paul Ryan and GOP presidential candidates Rand Paul, Ted Cruz, Jeb Bush and Lindsey Graham all responded with “prayers.” Four pull quotes from the Republican political leaders are plastered on the publication’s front page in eerily similar, arguably meaningless glory. Think that means a lot to the victims of San Bernardino – 14 dead and 14 wounded – and the victims of the inevitable next mass shooting? For their part, and by contrast Democratic presidential hopefuls Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders pointedly called for “action” to stop gun violence. President Barack Obama, meanwhile underscored the need for stronger gun control laws in the United States after Wednesday’s mass murder. It’s a message he has stressed repeatedly in recent years, and weeks, as he is forced to address tragedies like this with alarming frequency. While the Daily News is obviously in the business of selling papers and ads and benefits from the viral sensation that is this cover, you tell us: Is it a viral sensation at least in part because it says what so many people are thinking but are afraid to, and so jarringly hits the nail on the head? For four seasons, Lark Voorhies wisely rejected the advances of Dustin Diamond’s Screech on Saved By the Bell. Unfortunately, in real life the 41-year-old actress is not as adept at avoiding romantic entanglements with creepy losers. As you may have heard, Voorhies married Jimmy Green in a quickie Vegas ceremony just a few months after meeting him on Facebook. Astonishingly, the marriage didn’t last. In fact, it imploded in epic fashion just days after Lark and Jimmy exchanged vows. It turns out Green was a homeless gang member who was frequently busted sleeping in the closets of Lark’s mother’s home. (Lark lives with her mom, and the husband and wife were forbidden to have sleepovers.) After the divorce, Green claimed to be in possession of a sex tape starring Voorhies , but she insisted that no such footage exists. Earlier today, she doubled down on that claim in one of the most bonkers rants ever posted to Instagram: “To whom this may concern. I am single! Jimmy couldn’t fork up a dime for our divorce,” the post reads. “There’s an active restraining order that he continues to violate. No sex tape even physically exists. Do you really think he could afford a camera?” “I gave him money multiple times and put minutes on his Obama phone. You better take a U-Turn on that bus. Everyone in Pasadena knows you’re a joke. Gang Member? You lost your job at Taco Bell. “Your penis is NOTHING to brag about! Is it normal for a penis to smell like corn chips?” Yes, the word is out in Pasadena: Jimmy is suffering from a chronic case of Frito dong. Sources say the man’s wang should be providing the crunch in chili pie, not making sex tapes with washed-up ’90s stars. We imagine Lark is still trying to get the grease off of her fingers. Anyway, Voorhies later posted a retraction in which she stated that her account was hacked, but we’re calling shenanigans on that claim. Not only did she never delete the original post, she later went off on Jimmy again , this time warning that she’ll sue anyone who interviews him. We’re not doubting that Jimmy is a little unstable, but it sounds like he and Lark may have actually been a pretty good match.
