Former Baseball Player Says Police Racially Profiled Him Are police really out here racially profiling folks outside their house? Ridiculous. According to Raw Story: Former professional baseball player and New York Times columnist Doug Glanville gave his account of being racially profiled outside his Connecticut home by an officer in a column for The Atlantic on Monday, saying the officer was working outside of his jurisdiction when he suggested Glanville was shovelling his driveway illegally. “In one moment, I went from being an ordinary father and husband, carrying out a simple household chore, to a suspect offering a defense,” Glanville wrote. “The inquiry had forced me to check my tone, to avoid sounding smug even when I was stating the obvious: that I was shoveling the driveway because the house belonged to me.” “I noted the strangeness of his being in Hartford—an entirely separate town with its own police force — so I thought he needed help,” Glanville wrote. “He approached me with purpose, and then, without any introduction or explanation he asked, ‘So, you trying to make a few extra bucks, shoveling people’s driveways around here?’” When Glanville identified the home as his own, he wrote, the officer left the scene without apologizing, instead offering an “empty encouragement” to enjoy his shoveling. The West Hartford News reported on Tuesday that police in West Hartford released a statement saying the officer was responding to a report stemming from a February complaint identifying a “Black male, in his 40′s, wearing a brown jacket and carrying a snow shovel” in West Hartford who asked a homeowner if they wanted their driveway shovelled. That individual was allegedly seen going into Hartford shortly before the officer’s encounter with Glanville, and was later given a verbal warning for breaking West Hartford’s ordinance against door-to-door soliciting. The officer thought he was the hired help…SMH.

Woman Arrested After She Called The Police On Her Own Drug Dealer She must have been super high when she made that call… According to The Tennessean: A Murfreesboro woman was arrested after she called police to report that she lost money on a drug deal, according to reports filed with the Police Department. Chrissie Ann Solis, 35, of Bradyville Pike, was arrested Thursday for filing a false report and criminal conspiracy by Officer Thomas B. Troutman. The arrest occurred after Solis called MPD to report a theft from her home. She said a friend visited her home and she had $140 sitting on her kitchen table, Troutman reported. “She stated she went to the bathroom and when she came out she noticed (the visitor) and her money were gone,” Troutman said. Solis told the officer where the visitor lives and Troutman made contact with the subject and his girlfriend. Troutman ran a routine warrants check and found the girlfriend, Tiffany Waller, 30, of Mercury Boulevard was wanted for several charges. She was placed under arrest. “Before she was transported, she gave me consent to look in her phone,” Troutman said. “In her texts, it showed where Ms. Solis asked Ms. Waller to get her 20 Loritab (pills) for $7 a piece, which turns out to be $140.” Waller told Troutman Solis gave her the money to get the pills, but then the dealer stole the money from her. Only in Florida … Via Gainesville reports: Hubert Wayne Simmons thought that if he told the police officer who stopped him after a 100-mph chase that he had meth in his pocket, he wouldn’t charge him with it. He was wrong. Simmons, 50, of 1448 SE Adams St., High Springs, was headed east in the 300 block of Northeast Santa Fe Boulevard in High Springs around 3 a.m. when High Springs Police Officer Ethan Presnell pulled behind the Chevy pickup. Simmons began speeding up, and the officer started to chase him at around 100 mph without closing ground, according to the police report. Simmons turned south onto Northwest 202nd Street still at speeds topping 90 mph before he finally stopped. Presnell pulled him from the truck at gunpoint, the report said. Simmons first told Presnell he didn’t realize that the officer was behind him, then said he tried to get away because he was afraid he would violate his probation since his truck had an expired tag. In the patrol car, Simmons told the officer that he had meth in his pocket but that it might have fallen out. He said he thought that if he was honest about it, the officer would not charge him. Presnell found a plastic bag with 1 gram of meth, and Simmons was arrested on charges of fleeing a police officer — and possession of a controlled substance. They both pleaded guilty to public indecency Wednesday and now will spend the first 30 days of their marriage behind bars. The officer stated in the arrest report that he was alerted to the tryst by three teenagers, who pointed him to a pine tree about 10 yards from a playground in Gering, Nebraska’s Oregon Trail Park and squeeled, ‘They’re having sex!’ It was around 8 p.m., but the officer noted that it was still daylight and a number of children were playing in the area. Swimmers at a nearby pool were also in plain view of the romp, he stated. The officer spotted the gyrating couple under a pine tree and drove toward them in his patrol car, then parked three feet from them. He noted that the couple ignored his presence and kept going at it. ‘Miaya had her pants off and her buttocks exposed [and she] was moving in an up-and-down motion on Saint,’ the police report reads, noting that Saint’s pants were around his ankles. The officer ordered them to stop having sex twice before they finally separated. As he directed them to get dressed, the couple laughed and told the officer they were having sex because they had just wedded. The bride also revealed that her 5-year-old daughter was nearby with family and friends. She said the girl could be left in the care of a friend while she was hancuffed and taken to jail with her new husband. The couple’s wedding ceremony, which was held at the Oregon Trail Park just before their arrest, was videotaped and posted to Facebook Tuesday evening. It appeared that about two dozen friends and family had attended. The officer had to ask twice… must have been some good peen. They had enough money for a wedding, but not a hotel room? Priorities…priorities.
