Daniel Radcliffe Feels ‘Very Good’ About ‘How To Succeed’ Premiere

By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Daniel Radcliffe Photo: MTV News “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying” star Daniel Radcliffe will perform the same routine eight times a week on Broadway for the rest of the year and into 2012, but the actor will happily take that relative monotony instead of the exhaustive rehearsals he’s endured for the last several months. “It feels very good to have opened — it really does,” he told MTV News following the musical’s premiere Sunday. “We’ve had a long-ish preview period — I can’t say long anymore because of ‘Spider-Man’ — but it feels great to be here and know the show is set now and we don’t have to rehearse during the day and we get to chill out. Honestly, coming in and doing a two-and-a-half-hour show every evening will seem like a holiday after the last couple months.” The work has clearly paid off, as reviews for his performance have been largely positive. “Daniel Radcliffe is so adorable in his Broadway musical debut, you just want to pinch his cheeks,” wrote the New York Post. “It’s not just his youth — the ‘Harry Potter’ star is 21 — but the endearing amount of dedication and enthusiasm he pours into steering the [play].” That’s got to feel good for a guy who’s gone on record that he has no particular talent for singing and dancing . But Radcliffe put in the work, and now he’s looking forward to a bit more time to himself. Not that he’s got ambitious plans for his downtime. When MTV News asked if he’ll have a chance to enjoy New York City, he said, “I will be able to now because the day-to-day rehearsal will have stopped. By Vaughn Schoonmaker, with reporting by Kara Warner Mindless Behavior Photo: MTV News Mindless Behavior might be made up of four boys in their early teens, but that hasn’t stopped them from grabbing the attention of established stars like Ciara, Lil Twist and Tyga, who are all featured on the remix of their hit debut single “My Girl.” The remix video debuted on BET’s “106 and Park” on Monday (March 28), and MTV was on the set with the young stars a few weeks ago, just days before they kicked off their tour as Janet Jackson’s opening act. ” ‘My Girl’ needs to just branch out,” said Ray Ray, surrounded by his bandmates. ” ‘My Girl’ is the best record ever!” As a follow-up to their video for the original version of the song, the ‘My Girl’ remix video delivers plenty of choreographed dancing, references to the art and etiquette of text messaging, and teenage girls dancing around the miniature heartthrobs. In the video, Ciara dances alongside Mindless Behavior in an industrial-like setting. Lil Twist and Tyga rap in a room full of excited fans while the boys dance along. “A year ago, we were fans of these artists,” Princeton noted. “And now we’re working with them. Just to know that is great.” Ciara jumped at the opportunity to work alongside the boys. “These kids are stars to me, and they asked me to be part of the remix,” she said. “I was like, ‘I’m gonna be a part of this!’ ” Once a teen prodigy herself, Ciara already shared something in common with Mindless Behavior. “I remember when I was young. It’s really just about being a part of something that’s young and fresh and something that I believe in. In this case, they’re young and I want to make sure I fit in that way. ‘Hunger Games’ Experts Weigh In: Who Should Play Peeta?

By Christina Garibaldi Alex Pettyfer Photo: Getty Images Last week, MTV News exclusively revealed that Oscar-nominated actress Jennifer Lawrence landed the highly coveted role of Katniss Everdeen in the film adaptation of “The Hunger Games.” Experts and fans were mixed on the thought of the tall, blond 20-year-old taking on the role of the 16-year-old, dark-haired heroine, but it seems like Jennifer can rest easy for now, since the debate has shifted to who will play fellow Hunger Games competitor Peeta. “It’s definitely going to be someone close to her age,” Down With the Capitol administrator Theresa Morgan told MTV News. “I think it will make it easier to cast someone for Peeta.” Many names have already been thrown into the mix, including “The Kids Are All Right” star Josh Hutcherson , who confessed he has met with director Gary Ross. “I love Peeta,” Hutcherson told Entertainment Weekly. “The character is so much who I am — self-deprecating, a people person. And he’d be such a great character to play!” Hutcherson seems to be a front-runner for the District 12 male tribute, but he will have some stiff competition from Alex Pettyfer and fan favorite Hunter Parrish . “We love Josh Hutcherson,” the Hob administrator Megan Scott said. “There’s Alex, who I really like, but Hunter is a huge fan favorite. When I think of these guys with Jennifer, they all go well together.” “Our whole site thinks Hunter will be perfect,” Morgan said. “He looks the role and acts the role. A lot of people are thinking he sounds like Peeta.” Ross might agree, since Parrish recently told E! Online he has met with the movie’s producers. “I’d be grateful to get the opportunity,” he said. “Like, really grateful. It would be amazing.” Not everyone’s convinced that these leading contenders are right for the coveted “Hunger Games” role. “My favorite for Peeta is Callan McAuliffe,” Mockingjay.net administrator Kimmy West said about the “I Am Number Four” newcomer. “I think he has the acting chops, he’s relatively unknown, and he has that warm quality that Peeta has.” Who do you think should get the role of Peeta in “The Hunger Games”? By MTV News staff Nicki Minaj Photo: MTV News After her spirited set during Wednesday’s opening night of Lil Wayne’s I Am Still Music Tour in Rhode Island, it’s hard to imagine Nicki Minaj ever getting butterflies onstage. According to the Young Money queen, the performance was a far cry from her humble beginnings onstage when she used to perform mixtape cuts alongside Wayne. For starters, she was far less jittery. “It’s funny, because I remember coming on, doing 30 seconds of ‘Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop’ [from Lil Wayne’s Da Drought 3 ],” Nicki recalled to MTV News. “I was nervous for 30 seconds, and then when I came back [on tour], I was doing three minutes. Now to have my own set, it’s crazy!” After the show, the Queens lyricist spoke about finally performing a full set of her own songs. “It’s the first time I get to show me: my theatrics, my craziness, my sense of humor. A lot of times when I was doing features, I didn’t feel that it was my place to kinda interject certain things. I don’t wanna be rude to anyone’s set.” On Wednesday, Nicki seized the opportunity, as she emerged from underneath the stage to begin her 30-minute slot. The rap bombshell thrilled fans as she ran through songs like “Roman’s Revenge,” “Right Thru Me” and the current single from her Pink Friday debut, “Moment 4 Life.” She even gave a male fan a lap dance while Sean Kingston’s “Letting Go” played through venue’s speakers. By James Montgomery Wiz Khalifa Photo: MTV News AUSTIN, Texas — Last month, during an appearance on ESPN, Lil Wayne discussed Wiz Khalifa’s massive Pittsburgh Steelers anthem “Black and Yellow” without actually mentioning Wiz himself. Some speculated that Weezy’s slight was intentional, a bit of revenge for Wiz taking shots at Young Money artist Tyga. Khalifa didn’t see it that way , instead describing the omission as “a missed opportunity.” It was a tellingly vague response, so when MTV News caught up with Wiz backstage at the mtvU Woodie Awards , we asked him to clarify his remarks. Was he returning fire at Wayne? “Nah, not really,” Khalifa said. “[I meant] an opportunity lost, but, you know, I feel like people have a chance to speak out and acknowledge younger people or people who are grinding and coming up in the game, and they don’t always take the opportunity. That’s all that was.” In fact, Wiz said that, if anything, he was taking the opportunity to address everyone who has slept on him in recent months. “There’s plenty of people who’ve missed that opportunity, there’s plenty of people who went back and taken that opportunity when they missed it,” he said. “It’s never too late. It wasn’t anything negative; it just is what it is. That’s the type of person I am. I’m a realistic person, so I tend to say realistic things.” And to further drive home the point that he wasn’t singling out Wayne, Khalifa said he’d most definitely want to work with him in the future and that he’s already moved on from the whole incident. “I don’t know why anybody would make it personal, you know?” he laughed. Steven Soderbergh Still Planning to End Great Career with Television Remake

Speaking with Studio 360’s Kurt Anderson , beloved director Steven Soderbergh reiterated that he plans to retire from filmmaking after he makes two more films. “When you reach the point where you’re like, ‘If I have to get into a van to do anther scout I’m just going to shoot myself,’ it’s time to let somebody else who’s still excited about getting in the van, get in the van,” Soderbergh said. “For the last three years, I’ve been turning down everything that comes my way, so you’re not going to have Steven Soderbergh to kick around anymore.” You will, however, have the opportunity to kick Soderbergh for his planned swan song.
