Rob Delaney Pens Powerful Essay on Late Son’s Cancer Battle

Early this year, Rob Delaney’s young son tragically died . His 2-year-old son fought and lost a battle against a fatal brain tumor. Now, eight months later, the still-grieving comedian has released the first excerpts of his book, which he had been writing when it looked like his son was going to make it. This is heavy, powerful stuff, and very much worth reading. On Medium , Rob Delaney shares pieces of the book that he has written about his late son. “I may wish Henry wasn’t in the hospital and it may make me f–king sick that my kids haven’t lived under the same roof for over a year,” Delaney writes in one excerpt. “But I’m always, always happy to enter the hospital every morning and see him,” Delaney says. “It’s exciting  every day  to walk into his room and see him and see him see me.” “The surgery to remove his tumor left him with Bell’s palsy on the left side of his face, so it’s slack and droops,” he describes. “His left eye is turned inward too, due to nerve damage.” “But the right side of his face is incredibly expressive, and that side brightens right up when I walk into the room,” he writes. “There’s no doubt about what kind of mood he’s in, ever,” Denaley continues. “It’s particularly precious when he’s angry because seeing the contrast between a toddler’s naked rage in one half of his face and an utterly placid chubby chipmunk cheek and wandering eye in the other,” Delaney explains. He goes on to say that it “is shocking in a way that makes me and my wife and whatever combination of nurses and/or doctors are in the room laugh every time.” “And when he smiles, forget about it,” Delaney beams. “A regular baby’s smile is wonderful enough.” In contrast, he writes: “When a sick baby with partial facial paralysis smiles, it’s golden. Especially if it’s my baby.” Delaney also speaks of the earliest signs of his son’s illness, which began normally enough — with Henry vomiting in 2016. Babies do that sometimes. What made it worse was that he continued to do so. “Henry was losing weight,” Delaney writes. “Every time he vomited I would freak out. I would feed him so gently, so slowly, and assume I’d done something wrong when he vomited.” Delaney blamed himself over the medical mystery. “Why, if I’d been able to feed Henry’s ravenous, feral older brothers, couldn’t I feed him?” “My baby was getting smaller,” Delaney writes. “And that is a f–ked up thing to see.” “I would often start crying whenever he threw up,” Delaney admits. “I would try not to cry in front of his older brothers and fail.” “And they’d ask why,” Delaney continues. “And I would say it was because I was scared.” It was only after a friend suggesting seeing his child’s pediatrician that Henry, still a baby, was given an MRI. The doctor already suspected that a mass might be forcing Henry to vomit uncontrollably, but did not say the word “tumor” until Rob Delaney said it first. Henry ended up having drastic brain surgery — the one that resulted in his aforementioned lazy eye and partial facial paralysis. But it was not enough. Delaney shares that he wrote about these experiences before his family got the worst news of their lives. “The above was part of a book proposal I put together before Henry’s tumor came back and we learned that he would die,” Delaney explains. Understandably, “I stopped writing when we saw the new, bad MRI.” “My wife and his brothers and I just wanted to be with him around the clock and make sure his final months were happy,” Delaney writes. “And they were.” He adds that he’s putting his writings out there for his intended audience — other parents of very sick children. Jeremy Vuolo, Jinger Duggar Gush Over Baby Felicity: See Her at Two Months!

Just days before Felicity Vuolo’s two month “birthday,” Jeremy and Jinger are taking to social media and gushing over their baby. Fans had expressed concerns about the precious infant’s health in recent photos. But as fans can see, little Felicity is all smiles. In the absolutely precious photo that you’re about to see, a grinning Jeremy Vuolo gazes warmly into the eyes of his infant daughter. Baby Felicity lays on her back and smiles up at him. According to the captions, this is a very common occurrence these days. Jeremy writes: “She’s all smiles these days.” This is a truly touching and beautiful family photo. Take a look: Felicity was born in July, as Jeremy and Jinger shared on the family website. “God is so kind!” the post gushed. “Jinger gave birth to Felicity Nicole Vuolo this morning at 4:37 am.” And then they laid out her stats: “Felicity weighs 8lbs. and 3oz. and is 19.5 inches long.” “Both mom and baby are healthy, doing great, and resting well,” they shared. The post concluded: “We are very thankful for her safe arrival and look forward to life as parents” Felicity will be two months old on September 19! Babies grow up so quickly, and the couple’s fans and followers are happy to see pictures. Of course, a recent photo of Felicity Vuolo raised concern among fans . They looked at the adorable baby girla nd perceived that she looked “blue,” which could indicate a problem with circulation or oxygenation. A number of fans shared these genuine worries in the captions, not to be hateful, but simply out of alarm. Fortunately, it looks like Felicity remains happy and healthy. Perhaps what followers perceived was merely a trick of the lighting? After Jeremy and Jinger shared the name of their young daughter, some were puzzled over its meaning. (And no, it is not a reference to a Keri Russell character) While you might not expect hardcore Christians like these two to name their daughter after a Roman deity (Felicitas), they explained that they named her after “a young Christian girl who lived long ago.” That is a clear reference to Saint Felicitas, a young Christian woman who was martyred alongside Saint Perpetua in the Third Century in Carthage. The Vuolos are not Catholic, but clearly they felt a connection to Felicitas’ religious convictions. More to the point, however, Jinger and Jeremy explained that the name simply “felt right.” It is wonderful that Felicity smiles so much. Babies are not generally capable of giving a full smile when first born — it is a skill that they develop. But smiling is a great indicator that Felicity is successfully bonding with Jeremy and with Jinger, expressing a rush of excitement when she sees her parents. Babies can be grumpy and they can cry, which is also normal and healthy, but it’s always good to see a baby smile. Let’s hope that she continues to smile — if Jinger and Jeremy prove to be better parents than anyone in Jinger’s terrifying family. Khloe Kardashian Chooses Daughter’s Legal Guardian

Khloe Kardashian has no plans on going anywhere any time soon. The mother of one hopes to raise little True for the next 18 years, at minimum. For you never know, that's the fact of life. And you do need to contemplate the worst as a parent. That's the set-up for the clip featured here from this Sunday's new episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians. It features a still-pregnant Khloe sitting down with her siblings and talking about the sensitive topic of guardianship. Who will legally look after True if Khloe were to die before her child become a legal adult? “I can’t make anything official until after the baby is born, but I am going to probably have Kim as the legal guardian if, God forbid, something happens,” Khloe says in this sneak peek, adding: “Just because I don’t know my parenting style until I have a baby, but from what I envision my parenting style to be, I do think it will be more like Kim – a lot more stricter.” Yikes , huh? Ouch . As you can tell from this photo, Kourtney isn't exactly thrilled to her Khloe's decision. Kourtney has three kids — son Mason, 8, Reign, 3, and daughter Penelope, 6; while Kim shares daughters North, 5, Chicago, 7 months, and son Saint, 2, with husband Kanye West. The past few episodes of their reality show has chronicled the ongoing feud between Khloe, Kim and Kourtney — and we doubt Khloe's declaration this Sunday will ease any of the tension. “Watching Kimberly be a mom, I really respect her parenting skills – not that I don’t respect Kourtney’s, I relate to how Kim parents more,” says Khlo here. “But at the end of the day, this family is so close and we love each other so much and if anything, God forbid, were to happen, I know my daughter is in the best of hands no matter who her legal guardian is.” Fair enough? Not really. Not to Kourtney. “Guess what? You don’t have to give me an explanation,” responds Kourtney. “I’ve got three kids and I’m busy on my own.” It's hard to blame her for being offended, isn't it? “You’re at capacity,” says Khloe “No, I’m not at capacity,” clarifies Kourtney, adding: “I’m a little bit disappointed that I’m not the guardian, but honestly, you don’t know what your parenting style is until you have kids. “So I think once Khloe has her own daughter and is really a mom, then maybe she will realize that we have more in common than she thinks as far as parenting styles. “You never know! Khloe might switch back to me.” Check out this interesting clip now.

All the Teen Mom Couples: RANKED From Worst to First!

Ranking Teen Mom and Teen Mom 2 couples through the years is a challenging, arduous task, but one The Hollywood Gossip is up for. Hey, someone's gotta. If you're a fan of the MTV franchise, you've seen quite a few significant others come and go, while some have been longtime staples. Some relationships have been terrific, while others were (or are) utter train wrecks. Here, we break them all down from worst to first. NOTE: Due to his tragic death before Farrah Abraham gave birth to their daughter Sophia,  Derek Underwood has been left off this list. Also notably absent is Andrew Lewis , the father of Jenelle Evans' son Jace, and a man of whom almost nothing is known to this day. Everyone else, however, is fair game … from the present to the distant past! Who do you think ranks number one? Do you agree? 25. Jenelle Evans and Courtland Rogers The worst of the worst right here. Even by her standards, Jenelle Evans and Courtland Rogers were a total and complete disaster … worse than any couple in franchise history. Multiple arrests, massive drug abuse, one long stint in prison and a pregnancy that ended in an abortion tell you all you need to know. Jenelle, who has kids by three other sketchy dudes, would not go there with Courtland. Enough said. 24. Jenelle Evans and Kieffer Delp Jenelle Evans and Kieffer Delp weren’t much better. It’s really amazing that she survived some of these toxic relationships to become as stable as she is today (which is relatively unstable by regular person standards, sure, but much improved). Delp, to his credit, did give us Barbara Evans’ hilarious pronunciation of his name during her frequent rants to Jenelle at least. YA HIGH! YA BOTH HIGH! I SEE YOU WIFF KIEFFAH!! Classic. 23. Amber Portwood and Matt Baier Where do we even begin with this disaster? Amber Portwood’s boyfriend/fiance/Deadbeat Dad Extraordinaire Matt Baier has the dubious distinction of being SO BEYOND BAD for her that we’re ranking her relationship with her high school boyfriend – who she beat on camera – much higher on this list. It’s frankly amazing that Amber and Matt lasted as long as they did, considering how he hit on other Teen Mom cast members, had betweeen 7-9 kids from previous relationships, was never fully honest about his addiction issues, is 20 years her senior, and failed a lie detector test. 22. Maci Bookout and Ryan Edwards Ryan Edwards, for a time, competed for the title of the worst of the worst, the absolute lowest guy on the Teen Mom ladder. He’s still battling drug abuse, if you believe his exes (including Maci Bookout). He has made some strides in the parenting department, and is married to what seems like a nice girl in Mackenzie Standifer (more on that later), but Maci and Ryan were not a good match and have feuded for years. Years. He’s got a plethora of issues, too. 21. Jenelle Evans and Nathan Griffith Yes, Evans is in a league of her own with these winners. This one fathered her second child and is engaged in a never-ending battle for custody of Kaiser. Nathan is no prize himself, of course, so that’s tantamount to a war of attrition. Por Kaiser. This list is not all Jenelle, we swear. Eventually, the couples improve somewhat. 20. Kailyn Lowry and Chris Lopez Kailyn Lowry and Chris Lopez dated for like a few weeks, and he wouldn’t even show his face on Teen Mom 2, but they were a couple at one point, and she did have his baby, so … he’s been around a little bit here and there since she had his child and hopefully will take to fatherhood more than it initially seemed. Kail likes to complain that he’s just an “Instagram dad” but at least he’s shown some effort at all, and he and Kail apparently still bone from time to time, so there’s that. Not a healthy or normal situation at all, but he still has so much opportunity to prove himself as this relationship plays out, so here’s hoping. View Slideshow

Jill Duggar Throws Shade at Josh Duggar & Derick Dillard: They’re Not Okay!

Jill Duggar is generally not one to make waves. The second-eldest daughter of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, Jill has spent the majority of her life meeting the demands of her ludicrously strict upbringing. On the reality shows that made her family famous, Jill quickly emerged as a fan favorite, modest enough to appeal to the fundamentalist segment of the Duggars’ fan base, but independent enough to give hope to those who watch in … that she and her sisters will one day break away. When Jill married Derick Dillard in 2014, however, her public image took a turn for the worse. Brash and abrasive where Jill was meek and kind, Derick quickly became a divisive figure amongst Duggar fans. Last year, Derick was fired from Counting On  after making comments about fellow TLC star Jazz Jennings that many considered transphobic. Jill quit the show in a gesture of solidarity, thus leaving her young family with no source of income. These days, Jill has a lot of time on her hands, and she often uses it to post on social media, despite the fact that her content frequently disturbs fan. This week Jill posted a list of prayers for her children that many took as evidence of bigotry. The items on the list were mostly innocuous concerns, such as “Their salvation,” “That they would be kept morally pure,” “That they would love each other.” But the last prayer struck a nerve with fans, many of whom considered it further evidence of Jill’s transphobia. The response from Instagram users was swift and harsh, with some accusing Jill of rank hypocrisy: “But it’s ok to be a homophobic, cheating molester who is literally making money from having their family on a reality show,” wrote one fan. The comments seem to refer to both Josh Duggar – who molested five young girls while living under his parents’ roof – and Derick Dillard, whose homophobia has been well-documented over the years. Now, Jill is criticized on social media quite regularly, with followers taking issue with everything from her parenting to her wardrobe. But this time is different in that Jill actually replied: “I have never said those actions were ok.” That may seem like a very mild response, but as many have pointed out, it constitutes the first time that Jill has expressed any misgivings about the behavior or beliefs of her brother and husband. Perhaps this is the beginning of a new day for Jill. Maybe she’ll finally join the rest of the world in calling out the male members of her family for their more problematic actions. What seems more likely, however, is that Jill has simply grown tired of being lumped in with men like Derick and Josh. Some feel that she’s complicit with their behavior, while others see Jill as a victim. Whatever the case, she’s clearly fed up with being associated with the more shameful aspects of her family history. Kim Zolciak: I Got Death Threats Because of Nene Leakes!

There are reality star feuds and then there’s the beef between Kim Zolciak and Nene Leakes , which is more akin to a nuclear war. You see, this isn’t just a simple case of two co-stars throwing shade at each other on social media. No, Nene and Kim keep raising the stakes, and it seems there’s no end to this bitter battle in sight. It all started when Kim’s daughter, Brielle Biermann, randomly claimed that Nene’s house is infested with roaches .  Nene clapped back in a big way, claiming that Brielle is a racist who learned to hate from her mother: “Kim & her daughter whole family are racists! What her daughter did at my home… was racist, learned behavior etc,” Leakes wrote on Instagram, referring to Brielle’s roach post. “Kim is a calculating bipolar racist with a horrible mouth, who uses black folks for her come up.” Nene says she was led to the conclusion that Kim is a bigot by Brielle’s use of the term “roach”: “That word ‘roach’ just ain’t the word I needed to hear her saying,” Leakes said on this week’s episode of Real Housewives of Atlanta . “It sounds very racial when you are speaking to an African-American person and talk about roaches. Because people feel like you associated that with the ghetto or trash. Black people do not receive that very well.” Leakes went on to say that she may have exaggerated “out of anger,” but maintained that she still believes Kim harbors racist tendencies. “Do I believe Kim is a racist? Some of the things she has said would definitely make you go, ‘Hmmm,’” Nene remarked. Zolciak was so incensed that she sued Nene for saying she’s a racist. On last night’s episode, she revealed that the situation had deteriorated to the point that she received death threats  “We’ve had to hire security. I’ve had people come to the gate at my house,” Kim told Sheree Whitfield.  “She wants to pull the race card. That’s the devil, bitch,” she added. “She spent so many years trying to sabotage my name and I just let it roll. “Now you’re f–king with my kids? ‘The whole family is racist, prejudice?’ My whole family? There’s not a racist bone in my body. Not me, my husband, or my children see color. Never have.” Kim recently confirmed that she had her lawyers send Nene a cease and desist letter. Unfortunately, for Mrs. Zolciak-Biermann, it seems the document failed to have the desired effect: “I burned it up with a lighter,” Leakes said when asked how she responded to the missive. Something tells us this feud won’t be coming to an end anytime soon. Watch Real Housewives of Atlanta online to relive all the Kim vs. Nene drama.

Mom Feeds Toddler Wasabi, Gets Accused of Child Abuse

This (not) just in: The Internet can be a very mean place. And a mother on Facebook just found out exactly how and why, first hand. This woman shared a video on her social media page that has been viewed over 14 million times. Not each of these viewers likes the video, however, because it depicts the mother asking her young daughter whether she wants to try Wasabi. The girl at first says no… and then we're pretty sure she says no again. But then she simply repeats the word “wasabi” and then the mother places a small portion in front of her nose to smell. The mother than places this same small portion in the girl's mouth… and waits for a reaction. The girl actually handles it pretty well, considering how hot and how spicy wasabi truly is. Hilariously, she only makes a slightly uncomfortable face while calmly uttering the word “help.” But not every Internet user found this to be hilarious. Some, in fact, tossed out the A-Word in response to this video. Yup: abuse . Do you agree with this assessment? Did the mother do anything wrong? Or is this akin to giving a kid a taste of a lemon, which, come on, EVERY parent out there has done on at least one occasion, right? Watch the video below and decide for yourself:

Audrey Roloff Can Sum Up Motherhood is One Word

As documented down below, there’s a lot we don’t know about Audrey Roloff. But there’s at least one thing we know very well about the Little People, Big World star and that is this: She adores being a mother. The TLC personality has made it clear in one social media post after another that she was practically born for this role, gushing about daughter Ember Jean and about her role as a parent . How would Audrey define that role? Such is the topic of her latest Instagram entry. “GRACE. If I had to sum up what motherhood has taught me into one word, it would be grace,” Roloff wrote to open this profound message. Audrey has been criticized of late for exploiting her daughter (and/or thoughts about her daughter) in the name of product placement and promotion, but that’s not a concern here. This post is simply dedicated to life as a mother, what she has learned and how she would sum it all up. “I can be pretty hard on myself, and motherhood is teaching me to give myself grace in the moments when I feel unequipped, ill prepared, or like I don’t measure up,” Audrey explains. “On the days when I discover I haven’t been doing something that everyone else seems to be doing, grace.  “When my ideals don’t fit to reality, grace. “When I’m overwhelmed by all the conflicting research on all the hot button issues, grace. “When I start to compare myself to the other mama warriors out there, grace. When I get criticized and accused, grace.” The star continues with the same theme, really hammering it home because it means so much to her. When I realize I’m not the kind, patient, and loving wife intend to be, grace. When I get down on myself for working too much or not enough, grace.  When I haven’t checked anything off my to-do list, grace. When I’ve worn the same outfit 7 days in a row, grace. Audrey and Jeremy Roloff welcomed Ember into the world back in September. Both were pretty candid at first about the challenges they faced, Audrey in particular when it came to pain while breastfeeding. However, they relied on each other, on their strong faith and here they are now… proud and excited parents of THIS precious five-month old ! So, where were you, Audrey? “I am choosing to release my harsh and sometimes worldly standards and learning to embrace His grace in my weakness,” she writes.”His power is perfected in my weakness.” Referencing God and the bible again, Roloff concludes as follows: “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” 2 Corinthians 12:9. In response to her in-depth analysis, Audrey received praise and support from many of her followers. Love this post so much. It encourages me and reminds me of how I should be. Thank you! wrote debrakgottschalk. Added willspartner71: Your thoughts and words flow so beautifully and inspire me. Thank you for sharing the wisdom that God has gifted you with. You are amazing. And here’s ktpapercrafty: What wisdom and strength you have gained as a new mom! Impressive indeed. (It took me a whole lot longer to get to this point as a mom!) Stacy London Posts About Forgiveness; Did She Unblock Clinton Kelly?

For nine years, Stacy London and Clinton Kelly starred on the fashion reality series,  What Not To Wear . Sometimes, working closely with someone can lead to lifelong friendships. In others, though, it can lead to lifelong feuds. And, last November, Stacy London dramatically blocked Clinton Kelly on Twitter . But now Stacy London has made a long, vague post about forgiveness. Has she changed her tune about her former costar? Stacy London and Clinton Kelly spent a decade joined at the hip, because that was their job. They worked together, traveled together, and made appearances together both on and off of their show. In his 2017 memoir, I Hate Everyone, Except You, Clinton Kelly wrote of Stacy and of their relationship: ” I either adored her or despised her and never anything in between. ” That sounds like a lot of sibling relationships. And even like a few marriages. He also explained why he had always felt that way: ” We spent nearly 60 hours a week in captivity, rarely more than an arm’s length away from each other.” That’ll do it. “Trust me when I tell you that that is just too much time to spend with any other human being you didn’t choose of your own free will. ” That sounds like a fair description. When Stacy London dramatically blocked Clinton on Twitter, he shared it and suggested that he knew why, writing: “The tea is old. And I never spell tea unless I’m shook, which I’m not.” That’s a great line. He also used both  tea  and  shook  correctly as slang, which is really refreshing when we’re talking about a somewhat older white guy, though not surprising coming from Clinton Kelly. Now, in a lengthy post to Instagram, Stacy London wrote: “Last night, I was thinking about forgiveness. It’s very easy to say but sometimes not easy to do truthfully.” That’s true. Not everyone believes in forgiveness. Others believe that it’s theologically important, or good for their personal well-being. But it’s not easy, regardless. “If you’re like me when I’m hurt I can hold a grudge. I know the old adage: being angry or vengeful or hateful to someone because they’ve wronged you is like taking poison expecting the other person to die.” Many have said that, including the late, great Carrie Fisher. “Anger is much easier to cope with for me than sadness and pain. Being angry feels pro-active and empowering, like I’m in control of the situation.” She’s absolutely right. “But last night (and WHY last night, I’m not sure) it occurred to me that taking action like blocking people in order to feel some sense of control over other’s actions is a waste of my time.” She continues: “I can’t stop people from the way they behave. I can’t stop them from being angry with me, hurtful to me, or indifferent to me.” And she talks about how that, specifically, applies to social media. “I can block ex-friends and ex-lovers, people I feel wronged by, but to what end? For the most part, these people aren’t even looking at my accounts in the first place and even if they were, why would being able to see this highlight reel of my life matter in the slightest?” The connections to Clinton Kelly and how she famously blocked him are obvious. “Don’t get me wrong: truly hateful, sexist, misogynistic, xenophobic, homophobic, racist comments are simply not permitted on my accounts.” That is a very good boundary to set, and good advice for anyone to follow. “@luvvie taught me that social media is NOT a democracy, it’s a dictatorship only in the sense that if you write on MY page l have every right to delete or block you. Go write nasty shit on your own page.” But she makes it clear that (though she’s still not naming him) she’s not accusing Clinton Kelly of anything of the sort. “Those are not the people I’m talking about. I’m talking about those I’ve had trouble forgiving for one reason or another.” Still vague. “The problem is the more I hold on to my anger, the more I hurt, not them. And while feeling pain and sadness sucks, it’s necessary, NOT damaging.” You gotta look out for your own health, folks. “Forgiveness is something you give yourself to move on, to find peace, to let go. So I unblocked a bunch of people today. If this resonates, maybe you can too.” It’s not clear if Clinton Kelly has actually been unblocked. (Unlike who’s following whom, list of who has blocked whom are not readily visible). But … it sure sounds like she may have taken him off of her social media no-fly list. That’s progress. Ellen Pompeo Basically Tells Patrick Dempsey to Suck It

Ellen Pompeo is having a moment. Ellen Pompeo has actually been having a whole bunch of moments over a whole bunch of years… and she’s here to remind you about them. The veteran actress has given a very revealing interview to The Hollywood Reporter in which she delves into a number of issues, from sexism … to her future on Grey’s Anatomy… to her opinion of Patrick Dempsey. And let’s just tease the final point with this: Pompeo does not appear to think very highly of her former co-star. For starters, Pompeo said Dempsey’s decision to leave the series in 2015 was a “defining” moment for her in terms of contract negotiations. We’ll let her explain why: “[ABC] could always use him as leverage against me – ‘We don’t need you; we have Patrick’ – which they did for years,” she explains, holding nothing back and adding: “I don’t know if they also did that to him, because he and I never discussed our deals. There were many times where I reached out about joining together to negotiate, but he was never interested in that. “At one point, I asked for $5,000 more than him just on principle, because the show is Grey’s Anatomy and I’m Meredith Grey. “They wouldn’t give it to me. And I could have walked away, so why didn’t I? It’s my show; I’m the number one. I’m sure I felt what a lot of these other actresses feel: “Why should I walk away from a great part because of a guy? You feel conflicted but then you figure, “I’m not going to let a guy drive me out of my own house.'” Pretty interesting, huh? It doesn’t sound like Dempsey was interesting in joining forces with his long-time colleague. This is in opposition, let’s say, to back in the day when the entire cast of Friends refused to film unless they also received the same pay raise. Dempsey’s Derek Shepherd was eventually written off the show… but it wasn’t long until Martin Henderson was added to the cast as a new love interest. “So, what does it look like when he leaves the show?” Pompeo asks, elaborating as follows: “First, it looks like a ratings spike, and I had a nice chuckle about that. But the truth is, the ink wasn’t even dry on his exit papers before they rushed in a new guy. “I was on vacation in Sicily, decompressing – it was a long working relationship and it was a tumultuous end and I needed a moment to just chill with some rosé – and they’re calling me, going, “What do you think of this guy?” “What do you think of this guy?” “And they’re sending pictures. “I was like, “Are you people f-cking nuts? Why do you feel that you have to replace this person?” “I couldn’t believe how fast the studio and the network felt like they had to get a penis in there. We brought in Martin Henderson, but they didn’t love the storyline, so that ended.” Again: interesting stuff, huh? Through all of the many cast changes on Grey’s Anatomy, Pomeo remains. And she isn’t going anywhere any time soon: The star just signed a new, two-year deal that will pay her approximately $20 million per year. This pretty much guarantees Grey’s Anatomy will stay on the air at least through Season 16. To conclude her cover story with The Hollywood Reporter, Pompeo turned her attention to the #MeToo movement and the ongoing shift in Hollywood. She’s proud of everything going on at the moment and she hopes she can play a role in it. “I don’t believe the only solution is more women in power, because power corrupts,” says Pompeo. “It’s not necessarily a man or a woman thing. But there should be more of us women in power, and not just on Shonda Rhimes’ sets. “Look, I only have a 12th-grade education and I wasn’t a great student, but I’ve gotten an education here at Shondaland. “And now my 8-year-old daughter gets to come here and see fierce females in charge. She loves to sit in the director’s chair with the headphones on yelling “Action” and “Cut.” “She’s growing up in an environment where she’s completely comfortable with power. “I don’t know any other environment in Hollywood where I could provide that for her. Now I hope that changes … and soon.” View Slideshow: 27 Top Grey’s Anatomy Couples: RANKED!
