Naya Rivera: Domestic Battery Charges Dropped!

It was only last October when Naya Rivera and Ryan Dorsey’s divorce was called off . Things looked bright for the couple. Fast forward less than two months, and Naya got arrested after allegedly hitting her husband — in front of their young son, no less. But it looks like Naya has somehow managed to get out of the domestic battery charges. Naya Rivera was once a celebrated Glee star. She also wrote a book and spoke up about her experience with having an abortion. While no medical procedure is anybody’s business, it was good that she chose to share her story, because every time that someone speaks up, it helps to ease society’s stigma about abortion. Compared to some of her fellow Glee stars, after Corey Monteith’s tragic death and Mark Salling pleading guilty for child porn , she was doing pretty well just living her best life for a while there. And then she went and got herself arrested. Late last November (it was the wee hours of Saturday night, in fact), news broke that Naya Rivera had been arrested for domestic battery. Reportedly, she and Ryan Dorsey were out on a walk with their two-year-old son, Josey. Apparently, during an argument about their son, Naya struck her husband more than once. Enough that police could see signs of the alleged strikes later, which included a busted lip, Ryan declined medical attention. (Domestic violence is still domestic violence when a woman does it, folks) Ryan called the police, who arrested and charged Naya before releasing her. She was picked up from the police station by her father-in-law, which sounds awkward as hell. Though  Ryan Dorsey and Naya Rivera asked for privacy , there were further reports. Among them, a claim that police believe that Naya was intoxicated when the alleged violence took place. Additionally, Ryan Dorsey’s 911 call described Naya as “out of control.” On its own, that’s all very worrisome and inexcusable. The fact that it took place in front of their son makes it even worse. Suffice it to say that the couple’s divorce is back on. However, TMZ reports that Naya Rivera’s domestic battery charge has been dropped . Prosecutors say that it was Ryan Dorsey who was ultimately unwilling to go through with pressing charges. We don’t know if this was part of a deal for their divorce (over alimony or custody or whatever). Last month, Ryan and Naya agreed that they would share custody of Josey. This isn’t the same as reconciliation, but some are concerned about Naya’s allegedly violent behavior. They wonder what happens the next time that she gets “out of control.” It sounded like Big Sean suggested that Naya Rivera’s behavior isn’t unprecedented. As always, what’s most important is Josey’s safety and well-being. We hope that whatever Ryan and Naya work out, it’s in Josey’s best interests. But … it’s never a good feeling to see an accused domestic batterer face zero legal consequences for their alleged violence. View Slideshow: Celebrity Break-Ups: Who Called It Quits in 2017?

Jill Duggar: Slammed By Fans For ANOTHER Parenting Fail!

Jill Duggar just can’t seem to catch a break these days. As if it’s not bad enough that her husband, Derick Dillard, has been fired by TLC after bullying a transgender teen on Twitter, now it looks like Jill might soon be jobless as well. Yes, Derick says his wife will be joining him in stepping away from the spotlight, and while that might mean things are soon to get a little leaner around the Dillard household, there may be some benefits to the new arrangement. For instance, perhaps Jill’s parenting won’t be subject to quite as much scrutiny now that her family is no longer on TV. Ha! Just kidding! As long as she continues posting on Instagram, new Jill Duggar parenting controversy will continue to pop up at the rate of about one per week. The latest might not be as scandalous as the time Jill put a tortilla on her son’s head , but it’s still got Duggar obsessives all worked up. A photo from Thanksgiving has once again caught the attention of the internet’s finest mommy-shamers, and again, they’re filled with seething rage. Yes, for reasons that aren’t entirely clear, the issue of Jill putting her kid on the floor is once again being raised. Some fans seem to not realize the pic is several months old. Others are just leaping at the chance to once again look down their nose at Jill. In both cases, the argument remains pretty much the same: Jill is terrible for leaving her kid on the floor while the rest of the family eats dinner. It’s a bit of reach, considering we know nothing about the context of the pic, but that hasn’t stopped fans from really going off on the mother of two. “Jill enjoys procreating, but once the baby is born, she’s not interested in the least in the actual parenting,” one person wrote on Facebook over the weekend. “How about a carrier or swing — something besides the dirty floor? I would have never done that to either of my children.” Is the floor actually dirty? Who knows. Does it matter? Obviously not. Look, we’re not ones to jump to the Duggars’ defense, but it does seem like Jill’s not really getting a fair shake here. And it’s important to save your outrage, because we’re really due for a legitimate Duggar scandal any day now. Watch Counting On online for more from reality TV’s most controversial family. Paris Hilton: I’m Totally Sorry for Defending Trump! That Wasn’t Hot

Hey, remember how Paris Hilton defended Trump , calling him “respectful” and “sweet” as if she’d only met a Trump from an alternate universe? Unfortunately, we remember. She’s been slammed for her comments, because … they were terrible. The interview turns out to have been from a year ago, but still. Her thoughts on the orange man notwithstanding, Paris Hilton’s not stupid — and she’s issued an apology. Plenty of people admire Paris Hilton for her music or her business acumen or her acting or her brand or whatever. These past couple of years of listening to her have positive things to say about Donald Trump has been … painful. While it was obvious that, like Clay Aiken, Paris Hilton’s statements in Trump’s defense were based upon personally knowing him and being totally unable to handle the kind of man he really is because he was always so nice to her . (That’s so common — we’ve all seen people respond to finding out that someone’s an abuser or a serial killer or whatever and going “but he was so nice.” Monsters aren’t always monsters to everyone, folks) Like Clay Aiken , Paris is now apologizing for her remarks defending Trump. In a statement to Us Weekly on Wednesday, Paris Hilton said that she’s sorry for her Trump comments . “I want to apologize for my comments from an interview I did last year.” Always good to start with the apology itself. Remember when we mentioned, as we covered it, that we didn’t know when the interview was actually done? It’s kind of shady that it just popped up right after the Charlottesville Nazi rally and terrorist attack , when Trump is despised even more than usual. “They were part of a much larger story and I am regretful that they were not delivered in the way I had intended.” Now, they shouldn’t have been delivered at all, to be clear. She should not have said what she did, either about Trump being a good person and especially not about the women accusing Trump of sexual assault being fame-seekers. “I was speaking about my own experiences in life and the role of media and fame in our society and it was never my intention for my comments to be misapplied almost a year later.” Poor phrasing isn’t the best excuse. We do understand that Paris is talking about a man she’s known since childhood. We just wish that his present statements and actions would speak loud enough for her to condemn him. Paris Hilton tries to address the shaming of his accusers, specifically. “I always believe in helping women have their voices heard and helping create an environment where women feel empowered and believe in themselves.” That’s good. That’s also very different from accusing Trump’s accusers of bieng liars. “I am deeply hurt by how this has played out and also deeply sorry.” That kind of has a “I’m sorry you were upset” vibe to it, you know? But it’s Paris and we think that she’s being sincere. “Moving forward I will continue to do what I can to be an advocate for girls and women with the hopes of providing a louder voice for those who may desperately need it.” That’s not a condemnation of Trump, but it is an apology. That has to count for something. Honestly, we’re beginning to suspect that there’s more at play here than a personal fondness. It’s possible that Paris’ family has business ties with Trump that could be endangered if she speaks up. We know that Trump’s politics are very different from her own. Remember, this is the woman who did the “Paris For President” music video back in 2008. During that song, she talked about LGBT rights, she talked about scaling back the world’s nukes and also about the importance of environmental protections in the face of climate change. Seriously, “intensify nuclear non-proliferation and ratify Kyoto today” was a line from the song. She also took some well-deserved jabs at George W. Bush. We’d love to see that from Paris again. We believe that she can be that Paris again.

Farrah Abraham Admits to Forgetting Daughter Sophia In a Store

Usually, when we report on bad parenting from Farrah Abraham, it means something truly appalling and inappropriate took place involving her 8-year-old daughter Sophia. Like the time Farrah talked about Sophia’s future sex tape . Or the time Farrah allowed Sophia to have a Snapchat account , and she predictably wound up chatting with strangers late at night. Sadly, we could go on with a list of such incidents, but we think you get the idea. So it’s almost a relief to share a story of less-than-stellar parenting from Farrah that other moms might actually be able to relate to. It’s not the kind of thing we would encourage anyone to try, but it is the sort of thing that could be classified as an innocent mistake … as opposed to whatever the hell talking about your grade school-aged daughter’s porn career would be called. Anyway, the story comes from Farrah herself, who shared it while she was shilling some memory supplement on her Instagram page. “Ladies (and men) Ever returned to your car and realized you’ve left your child in the store! Omg, this happened once, but since starting @focus.factor Extra Strength there’s no way that will happen!” Farrah captioned the photo below. Yes, it seems Farrah once left her daughter in a store. She didn’t reveal any details with regard to how long Sophia was alone (or what kind of store it was), which is probably for the best. Not surprisingly, the comments on the photo were amusingly brutal. “You’re telling the entire world that you NEED some bs pills to REMEMBER YOU HAVE YOUR DAUGHTER WITH YOU WHEN YOU GO OUT TO A STORE?” wrote one follower, adding: “Wow. don’t have anymore children please until you become an actual responsible adult.” Others simply threw Farrah’s own words back at her, reminding the reality star-turned-porn star that she once encouraged her co-stars to learn from her parenting example. Most of the critics had the right idea and didn’t attack Farrah for briefly (we hope) forgetting her daughter (these things happen), but rather for sharing the story as a means of trying to sell her followers on the virtues of some BS nootropic. To be fair, we really know nothing about the product she’s hawking, but we generally don’t take medical advice from people who document their vaginal rejuvenation procedures on social media. Also, gotta love the generous amount of cleavage worked into that shot. Say what you will about Farrah, the woman understands marketing. Watch Teen Mom: OG online for more of Farrah’s ridiculousness. Amanda Stanton SLAMS Mom-Shamers, Defends Being on Bachelor in Paradise

Amanda Stanton knows the double-edged sword of social media all too well. She’s competed on The Bachelor and signed up for two seasons of Bachelor in Paradise , but what’s drawn the ire of fans and followers isn’t her reality show antics — but her parenting. So now she’s taken to Instagram to BLAST mom-shamers who think that she’s neglecting her kids. “I don’t normally like to address the trolls/mom shamers … but it’s so out of control!” We don’t usually recommend addressing trolls, but we know how irresistible the temptation can be. And in this case, we’re glad that she did. “I’d like to take a moment to clarify first of all that my kids DO have a father that is part of their life. They spend time with him too.” We wonder how many of the mom-shamers just don’t understand how custody arrangements work. “So if you see a photo of me without my kids one weekend and comment something like ‘mother of the year’ or ‘wow shouldn’t she be with her kids?’ Well, there’s a VERY good chance that I can’t be with them because they’re with their dad.” Children should always come first for any parent, but they don’t need to spend every moment when they’re apart from their children laying about despondently like they’re on a commercial for depression meds. Her post went out before Bachelor in Paradise ‘s production was shut down and everyone was sent home, so she also defended her decision to appear on the show’s fourth season . “As far as Bachelor in Paradise goes, it doesn’t film for very long at ALL. I know it airs for 2 months … but it actually takes a lot less than that to film it.” Now, Amanda, isn’t saying that that going to ruin the TV magic? We kid, of course. Any TV magic that Bachelor in Paradise might have used to make viewers forget the true nature of reality television was pretty effectively neutralized. You know, by the whole sexual misconduct investigation . You’d think that after her relationship with Josh Murray ended disastrously , she’d have learned her lesson about using reality TV to actually find a partner, but she decided to do another season. But you know what? If it works, it works. And if it doesn’t work, she still brings in more money to give her children an even better life. That’s our take, anyway. Though clearly this season of Bachelor in Paradise hasn’t worked out as planned and may never actually happen. “I am fortunate enough to be able to work from home and spend more time with my kids than most parents.” Brag much? We know that she’s trying to be reassuring, but some parents are tormented by how much of their children’s lives they miss because of work. Anyway, the rest of her message is kinder. She explains that when she’s filming, her children stay with their father or grandparents. Which makes sense — that’s usually how life works, it’s just that most people are on work trips or something instead of filming. Then she talks about how, you know, different parents lead different lives, but this time sounding a little less snooty about it than she did when she bragged about working from home. “I understand that most parents don’t go on reality TV shows … but everyone’s lives are different. … My kids are my entire world. I am doing my best to give them a great life.” And, honestly, that’s why we have to come down on her side, more than anything else. Fame can be toxic, but a little fame and the money that can come with it can make the difference between a good life and a great one. How many kids wish that their parents had gotten opportunities like Amanda Stanton has? Can you imagine how her children would react if they grew older and learned that she’d declined the chance to pursue a reality career because she wanted to spend every minute with them? She’s not dropping them off at the mall to wander around for hours (they’re 3 and 4), she’s leaving them with their relatives who love them. Some cases of parent-shaming are well-deserved . B these mom-shamers sound like their families never knew to cut the umbilical cord. And, if their wanted her to spend time with her kids instead of filming Bachelor in Paradise , then wish granted — for now, at least. View Slideshow: Bachelor in Paradise Season 4: Who’s In?!?
