Jessica Simpson just learned, once again, that the Internet can be a horrible place. The proud mother of two celebrated her daughter turning five years old this week by hosting a fun birthday party for little Maxwell, her friends and her closest relatives. It’s unclear exactly where the gathering took place, but it’s quite clear that theme was nautical in nature. How do we know? The young woman of honor was dressed up like a mermaid, striking a fun pose in front of blue and white balloons while wearing a glittery tail and seashell bikini top for a photo alongside her brother, mother and father. How cute, right? How adorable, no? What a precious keepsake for this close-knit family, correct? Apparently not any of these things, according to pathetic critics on the World Wife Web. “My baby Maxwell is 5 years old today,” wrote Simpson as a caption to this seemingly harmless image. Added the artist: “She makes everyone’s life mermaid magical. Happy Birthday to our fairytale princess. Mommy, Daddy, and Ace love you with our “holy hearts” (as Max would say) #MerMax #MAXIDREW #canyoube5forever.” In response to this family snapshot, far too many Instagram users jumped all over Simpson. They accused her of basically making like Farrah Abraham by dressing her child in an inappropriate outfit. “She’s 5. Put some clothes on her. good grief,” one follower actually wrote, while another chimed in as follows: “Kinda sad seeing a 5 year old posing like that…” Really? It is? It’s kinda sad to see a toddler making like Ariel, one of the most famous and beloved characters in Disney history? Simply because her belly is exposed? Look, if you want to insult Jessica Simpson over this photo… don’t. It’s totally innocent and cute. But if you REALLY feel the need to do so, you could maybe question why Simpson felt the need to expose her own cleavage in such an overt manner for a children’s birthday party. She likely doesn’t own any clothing that isn’t skin tight on top, but whatever. Go have a field day with criticism in that area if you’re so inclined. But have we really reached a point in society where a little girl can’t wear a mermaid costume without the girl’s mother being harassed online? Sheesh . Back in February of 2016, the 36-year-old star shared a different photo of Maxwell, in this instance holding a milkshake in her hand and rocking a sassy look on her face. Wrote Simpson as a caption at the time: ” My milkshake brings all the boys to the yard and they’re like it’s better than yours…” This was a a reference to the popular 2003 song “Milkshake” by Kelis, which is all about the singer praising her own oral sex abilities. So, yeah. We understood the comments people made back then about Simpson. But not now. This is just folks looking way, way, way too hard for a reason to be critical of a celebrity. On Wednesday, Zolciak posted an update on her son , assuring fans that his treatment was successful, and he would be headed home from the hospital ahead of schedule. And yesterday, she was already back to posting bikini pics. If you follow her on Instagram, you know that Kim Zolciak bikini selfies are nothing new, but some fans are upset about the timing of this particular photo. Zolciak posted the photo in order to her soon-to-be-released line of swimwear, but many see it as an act if shameless vanity in the wake of a near-tragedy. Some fans took to the comments section on Kim’s IG page to let her know that they feel the time is not right to be posing in front of a mirror: “Less of these and more time watching your children!” wrote one follower. “Our hearts are still heavy, please give us an update on Kash,” commented another. Strangely, it’s not the first time that Kim has been criticized for combining her passion for beachwear with her parenting. A photo of Zolciak and her teen daughters wearing bikinis was promptly deleted from social media back in 2015 after fans pointed out that Kim there was something unseemly about the photo. Serious question: is Farrah Abraham even capable of making a solid parenting decision? Because at this point, it’s really, really not looking like it. Farrah’s daughter, little Sophia, just turned 8 , and most of those 8 years were spent with Farrah in the spotlight. And in all that time, Farrah’s made poor choice after poor choice. She’s dropped Sophia off with her own parents for extended periods of time so that she could live in Florida or film sex tapes or whatever other whim that seemed important to her. She’s slathered the poor kid in makeup, made her a business owner at the tender age of 7, spoiled her absolutely rotten at every possible turn. Honestly, we can’t think of one single occasion on which we went “Wow, Farrah, way to be a good mother.” So it shouldn’t come as a surprise that when this girl posted this particular photo of her daughter, people promptly freaked out. See the issue? If you’re struggling, try looking down towards the bottom — it looks like Sophia is wearing heels. And that’s … well, it’s not the most popular of choices. “Growing children shouldn’t wear heels,” one of her followers advised. “It’s bad for the spine.” Another agreed, saying “My boss, a chiropractor, would have a fit. Even tells me heels are bad for adults.” Well, yeah … that’s not exactly new information, is it? High heels are terrible for everyone. A person can literally ruin her feet if she wears them enough. At this stage in the game, no one thinks of Farrah Abraham as a good mother, right? We’d even go as far as to say that no one thinks of Farrah Abraham as a good person. She’s just unnecessarily rude and mean and hateful and ignorant — all bad things, really. She’s been accused of being racist , of being homophobic, of lying about rape. She’s also a Trump supporter , which says a lot of things about a person, none of them good. But the worst thing about Farrah is her apparent lack of any and all parenting skills. Her daugher, Sophia, is seven years old now, and in all that time, has Farrah made one solid choice in mothering her? Even just one tiny little thing? We sure can’t think of any . But now, Farrah’s reached what looks to be a whole new level of terribleness. She’s letting Sophia abuse animals. Or at least, that’s what many people think of her latest social media posts. Last night, this photo was shared on Sophia’s Instagram account: That’s the miniature horse Farrah gave Sophia for Christmas . The horse’s name is Starburst, and Farrah allowed Sophia and several of her friends to do this to the poor thing at a slumber party. As you can see, Starburst was less of a horse and more of an art project. And that’s not cool. “That poor pony should be classed as animal abuse,” one outraged person wrote in the comments on this photo. “You don’t treat animals like that … someone save the poor unhappy little thing … Farrah you’re an idiot!” another said. “This makes me want to cry!! Wtf is wrong with you?!!” one person commented, and another said that “This is the saddest looking pony I’ve ever seen.” Some Farrah supporters — yes, some people actually find it within themselves to defend Farrah over nonsense like this — tried to argue that this is fine, that the paint was “probably” non-toxic. And hey, Sophia is just a kid, you know? This is no different than dyeing your own hair, or putting a dog in a sweater Except the horse really does look miserable, and it can’t have been comfortable with a gaggle of little girls surrounding it, using it as a coloring book. Even if the paint was safe for animals, the horse doesn’t exist for kids to paint little hearts on it. It really is sad. Poor, poor Starburst.
