The two weeks leading up to the Grammy Awards are when we finally get a good idea of who’s performing and who’s presenting. This year’s Grammy Awards, which is this Sunday at 8 p.m. on CBS, will feature about 22 songs being performed. The executive producer of the show says it’s going to be “one of the biggest shows” in the history of the Grammys. Chris Brown, Tony Bennett, and Carrie Underwood are the most recent performers who have been added to the lineup. This will be Chris Brown’s first Grammy performance in three years after he was arrested for assaulting then-girlfriend Rihanna at a pre-Grammy party in February 2009. He is nominated for three awards at the 2012 Grammys, including Best R&B Album for F.A.M.E. The Foo Fighters will participate in a “special performance highlighting dance/electronica music” at Sunday’s show and will collaborate with an unlikely crew that includes Chris Brown, Lil Wayne, David Guetta and Deadmau5. All five artists are nominated for Grammy Awards this year. Tony Bennett will duet with Carrie Underwood and Alicia Keys will lead an Etta James tribute alongside Bonnie Raitt. The Grammys announced last week that Adele will make her first performance after undergoing vocal-cord surgery. Previously announced Grammy performers include: Katy Perry, Jason Aldean, Kelly Clarkson, Glen Campbell, The Band Perry, Blake Shelton, Coldplay, Rihanna , Bruno Mars, Paul McCartney, Nicki Minaj and Taylor Swift.
Former Pennsylvania senator now has 4 wins in his primary column. By Gil Kaufman Rick Santorum Photo: Justin Sullivan/ Getty Images Just as former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney was gaining a head of steam after winning two primaries in a row, he was dealt another major setback on Tuesday. The man who appeared to be back on track as the leading Republican presidential nominee was bested in the day’s three contests former Pennsylvania senator Rick Santorum. Following a convincing win in Florida last week, Romney was shocked by losing to Santorum in caucuses in Colorado and Minnesota, as well as a non-binding vote in Missouri where no delegates were at stake. Santorum won Colorado with 40 percent of the vote to Romney’s 35, with former House Speaker Newt Gingrich in third at 13 percent and Congressman Ron Paul in last place with 12 percent; 33 delegates are at stake in that race. In Minnesota the gap was much wider, as Santorum rolled up 45 percent of votes to 27 for Paul, 17 for Romney and 11 for Gingrich. According to unofficial results, Santorum handily took the Missouri vote with 55 percent to Romney’s 25 and Paul’s 12; Gingrich failed to make the ballot in that state. Santorum won every one of Missouri’s 114 counties in a stunning rebuke of Romney. “Conservatism is alive and well in Missouri and Minnesota … Tonight was a victory for the voices of our party, conservatives and Tea Party people,” Santorum told his excited supporters at a St. Charles, Missouri victory rally. “I don’t stand here and claim to be the conservative alternative to Mitt Romney … I stand here to be the conservative alternative to Barack Obama.” In one of the most unpredictable GOP presidential primary races in memory, Romney has been unable to seal the deal and pundits concluded that the low turnout in all three of Tuesday’s contests signaled that the party’s base has not gotten excited about any of the candidates yet. Though Santorum now officially has four wins to his credit — he was awarded the Iowa caucus win following a recount — the real news was that Romney failed to seal the deal after campaigning hard in Colorado and outspending his rivals by a large margin. But with the campaign going into a quiet period for much of the month, Romney has a chance to reload and get his house back in order before the Michigan and Arizona primaries on February 28. The next big test will come on Super Tuesday (March 6) where 10 states will offer up more than 400 delegates. Check back for up-to-the-minute coverage of the primaries and stick with
“The new debate in the Republican party needs to be between conservatives and libertarians,” says Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.). “A lot of the libertarian ideas that Ron Paul is talking about…should not be alien to any Republican.” Yet right after the 2010 midterm elections, the influential Tea Party favorite proclaimed that ” you can’t be a fiscal conservative and not be a social conservative ,” a comment… Broadcasting platform : YouTube Source : Reason Magazine – Hit & Run Discovery Date : 07/02/2012 15:00 Number of articles : 2

‘Hey Tim, my parents say hi,’ Perry announced at an NFL awards ceremony. By Jocelyn Vena Katy Perry at Super Bowl XLVI Photo: Getty Images Katy Perry got her Super Bowl on over the weekend in Indianapolis. The Grammy-nominated singer donned some colorful gear when she headlined the DIRECTV Super Saturday Night party, but it’s the folks she shouted out during the bash’s performance that drew attention. When Perry took the stage the night before the New York Giants beat the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLVI, she wore a football-themed outfit (jersey-style top and short shorts) and busted through a banner with her name on it, People.com reported. The singer asked the crowd, “Who else is excited for Madonna? That’s the only reason that I came!” Madge, of course, took the stage on Sunday for the Super Bowl halftime show , which featured gladiator fashions by Givenchy and appearances from M.I.A., Nicki Minaj, LMFAO and Cee Lo Green. Madonna’s daughter, Lourdes, was in attendance at Perry’s show, as were Shaquille O’Neal, Neil Patrick Harris and his partner David Burtka, Chris Meloni, and Scott Wolf. Before Perry launched into her cheerleader anthem-sounding Teenage Dream track “Peacock,” she shouted out one football player who wasn’t even playing in Sunday’s big game: “This one goes out to Tim Tebow,” she said. According to E! News , earlier on Saturday at the NFL Honors ceremony, Perry presented an award to Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton and had another message for Tebow. “Hey Tim, my parents say hi,” she said. Perry’s parents are reportedly trying to matchmake the pair. While Perry spent her weekend teasing Tebow at various events, a source who attended the ESPN Next party on Friday night tell MTV News that Tebow spent the night flirting with TV host Maria Menounos. The two chatted it up while Drake handed out shots to the women in attendance before performing at the party. Kellan Lutz, Matthew Morrison, Jermaine Dupri, Cam Newton, Plaxico Burress, Michael Strahan, Vivica Fox, Sherri Shepherd, Spike Lee, Connor Cruise and Blake Shelton were also spotted at the bash. Mark Evans has a million stories to tell. As the bassist for AC/DC from 1975 to 1977 , he’s been everywhere, done everything, and met every kind of girl along the way. He played bass on the albums T.N.T., High Voltage , Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap , Let There Be Rock, and the ’74 Jailbreak EP , and your sister (or maybe even your mom) has totally shown him her tits. Since he left AC/DC, Mark has lent his musical expertise to hard-rock bands like Finch, Cheetah, Swanee, Heaven and The Party Boys , and he released an album with Dave Tice (ex-singer of Buffalo) in October 2011. Mark’s new autobiography is called Dirty Deeds: My Life Inside/Outside of AC/DC , and as the title implies it details his wild life both within and without the legendary band. The Onion AV Club says Mark’s book is “much like AC/DC’s iconic hard rock: lean, raw, unflinching, and heavy on the riffs,” and it’s a must-read for fans of the band. We caught up with Mark on the road promoting his book, where he schooled us on Ann-Margret , “lust at first sight”, and where to find the world’s best groupies. More after the jump!
