Eve, Diplomats Turn Out For Wolfgang Gartner’s Weekend in America

‘I could go on and on with what I feel for hip-hop,’ the dance music producer tells MTV News of roping in all-star rap features on new album. By Akshay Bhansali Eve Photo: Jason LaVeris/ FilmMagic After a stint in Texas, electronic dance music producer Wolfgang Gartner moved back to his native California, where resumed recording in a new studio. Now that he’s all settled in, Gartner’s got a treat for his fans too: a band-new album that boasts so much hip-hop star power he may become to rap what superstar EDM producer David Guetta is to pop. But longtime fans of Gartner that have been devoted to him for hits like “Undertaker” and “Animal Rights” need not worry: Even with the big collabos, the Wolfgang product sounds no less underground. Weekend in America, which dropped on Tuesday (September 20), features 11 tracks. Thematically, it’s an effort borne of “life on the tour,” according to Grammy-nominated Gartner . “There is definitely a sense of patriotism there,” Gartner (born Joey Youngman) told MTV News recently. ” ‘Illmerica,’ the track came far before I knew the album was going to be called Weekend in America. Once [‘Illmerica’] became a song, I started having these mental images of when you’re flying over the center of the U.S., you see the little houses and you see America. “And for some reason, that’s what this song made me see: the soul of America, which is the bad part and the good part and all of the messed up stuff and the good stuff combined,” the producer continued. “For some reason, that’s just how it made me feel. ” Weekend in America was more alluding to going out on the weekends playing these shows, [where] I’m playing these tracks that I’ve been making. I’m playing other people’s tracks, too, but it’s kind of a culmination of what I see and what I hear out there that influenced the making of this album.” Even before its official release, America tracks like “Space Junk,” “Menage a Trois,” and “818” have already taken off as singles on the EDM scene. But with Tuesday’s album release, Gartner emphasizes what his hard-core fans already knew: He’s got a serious love for hip-hop. Rap princess Eve is featured on the party-hard “Get Em.” Dipset’s Cam’ron and Jim Jones jump on “Circus Freaks.” Omarion belts on “Still My Baby” and as WG fans know, will.i.am gets busy on “Forever,” which was released earlier this year. “I definitely listen to hip-hop more than I listen to dance music,” Gartner confessed to us. “When I’m in my car, all I listen to is rap. Obviously, I’m really into the Dipset crew — that’s like half my playlist right now, the new Jim Jones album. I listen to a lot of old Snoop and West Coast. A lot of old Biggie and the classics. Kanye. I really like Drake, Lil Wayne, that whole [YMCMB] crew. I could go on and on with what I feel for hip-hop.” Of course, with that many hip-hop features on tap, many will draws comparisons to Guetta’s pop crossover success, which has helped to bridge the dance and mainstream music worlds. But while their styles may be different, it’s a comparison Gartner welcomes. “David Guetta has been instrumental in creating the climate that we have now, where I can work with Eve and I can work with will.i.am, and they are receptive, the public is receptive and radio is receptive,” Gartner explained. “He played a role in opening the door up for people like me to do the same thing and have success. I think the dance music community, including myself, owes something to him for sort of paving the way for that.” Weekend in America is available at Beatport.com Next up for Gartner is the video for “Get Em,” with Eve. Katy Perry Gets Sexy For Maxim Again.. Sort Of

If these Katy Perry pictures look familiar to you, that’s because they’re outtakes from a Maxim photoshoot she did a while back, and you may or may not be obsessed with the woman. Not that anyone should mind that they’re kind of old, she’s wearing some skimpy little hipster unitards and see through tops, that’s awesome. Hot is hot. I just wish I could see more of the big hipster breasts, they should be front and center, I think they need a new agent. Call me.

Holly Madison Takes The Girls For A Walk

Normally I would be upset that Playboy hottie Holly Madison is covering up that cleavage that I love so much, it always seems like such a waste, but I really like what she’s done with her breasts today. Here she is walking the street in a plain old black dress that really shows off her awesome sweater mounds. Maybe it’s the lighting or maybe she’s wearing some new bra or something, but I don’t remember her being so voluptuous. I love her.

“King Of All Pimps” Claims He Brought A BabySitter, Not A Hooker, For Billy Ray Cyrus And Saw The Singer Almost OD On Heroin

This dude sounds like he lost his mind to that yayo ! Self-styled “King of All Pimps” Jason Itzler — newly busted on his latest round of escort-service charges — insisted in a bizarre court appearance yesterday that he had procured a female “companion” for a strung-out-on-heroin Billy Ray Cyrus at the Trump International Hotel this summer. The kooky account of a drug-drenched hoedown — which four law-enforcement sources told The Post was an utter hallucination — came as a Manhattan judge suggested Itzler have his head examined and ordered $200,000 bail. “I sent a companion, a non-sexual companion — a baby sitter, not a prostitute — to Billy Ray Cyrus, who was staying at the Trump International Hotel,” Itzler announced in court, when allowed to make a statement. “He made it clear he was not interested in sex,” Itzler said of the country-pop singer, who skyrocketed to fame 20 years ago with the hit “Achy Breaky Heart.” “They decided in front of me to get and use heroin for the first time in their life. He wanted to die!” Itzler claimed. “This is Miley Cyrus’ father, by the way,” Itzler added. The winking Clown Pimp also claimed to Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Thomas Farber that he is a victim of a conspiracy by the Bloomberg administration and Disney to suppress the celebrity overdose. But the account is achy-shaky, said lead prosecutor Eugene Hurley. “Billy Ray Cyrus has nothing to do with this,” the prosecutor said in court. “He’ll be happy to hear that,” deadpanned the judge. Law-enforcement sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said Itzler was indeed involved in an overdose and prostitution “incident” at the Trump International Hotel — but with a client who only looked like Billy Ray Cyrus. “It’s a mistaken identity,” said one source. “There was an incident that was the genesis of this investigation, but Billy Ray Cyrus was not involved — not even as a soundtrack.” Itzler also claimed credit for getting Love Gov Eliot Spitzer removed from office in 2008 — insisting Spitzer had been a client of his. Then he interrupted his own rant a couple of times to use an asthma inhaler, complaining that he was just rattled by the prosecutor, whom he called a “monster.” The prosecutor, in turn, had some choice words for Itzler. “The defendant is a notorious pimp,” Hurley told the judge in asking for high bail. “He calls himself the king of all pimps. He has ‘King Pimp’ tattooed on his arm. He’s been on television talking about being a pimp.” Itzler, who has served time for ecstasy smuggling and for his 2007 conviction for running the NY Confidential escort agency downtown, is now charged with running a new company, Rockstar Models & Party Girls, as a Manhattan-based ring that on at least three occasions sent drugs and hookers to the Trump International Hotel. Itzler is due back in court Oct. 18; his lawyer, Kevin Canfield, said he may seek a psychiatric defense. Dayuuuuum, sounds like all kinds of ratchetry be poppin’ off at the Trump International! At least he ain’t black… right? Source

Obama Jobs Speech Happens; Did Anyone Watch?

You have to give President Obama credit for delivering his “American Jobs Act” speech at 7 p.m. EST, getting it over with early enough so that he wouldn’t interfere with the Saints vs. Packers game and/or a crucial episode of Big Brother . On the flip side, 8 p.m. on is called prime time for a reason. If you missed it (purposely or not) The Prez blended his trademark oration with economic proposals that essentially boiled down to him telling the Republican-led Congress, “You should pass this jobs plan right away.” Obama Jobs Speech Obama tried to position himself with the public and as a voice of reason, stating: “The question is whether, in the face of an ongoing national crisis, we can all stop the political circus and actually do something to help the economy.” He insisted this was “not class warfare,” while saying that “we need a tax code where everyone gets a fair shake” and “everyone pays their fair share.” The immediate reaction to the President’s speech was mixed. Many commentators on CNN thought he did a pretty good job. Meanwhile, over on Fox News, Bill O’Reilly called the speech “pretty much a charade.”

Bridget Marquardt Speaks on Frozen Egg "Insurance Policy"

Bridget Marquardt is in no rush to have children. But the former back-up girlfriend to Hugh Hefner has taken out what she refers to as an “insurance policy,” just in case: the 37-year old froze her eggs three years ago. “It wasn’t that easy,” she told Us Weekly . “It’s a lot of medication, a lot of hormones. You have to inject yourself in the stomach and I’m so terrified of needles! It was a difficult thing for me to do.” So, why do it? Because Bridget was living with Hefner at the time, but not allowed to date anyone else. With Holly Madison and Hef as “the main relationship,” Marquardt just wanted the option later in life. “I don’t feel that clock ticking,” says the model, who is dating Nicholas Carpenter . “I’m not really worried about it. At the same time I would like to have kids someday, but I’m not one of those people who’s dying to have kids. If it doesn’t happen or if I decide to adopt later, that’s fine, too.” [Photo: WENN.com]
