Kaskade Tears Up The Decks At LIV In Miami

Miami Music Week continues with one of EDM’s best. By Adam Stewart Kaskade Photo: KirillWasHere.com MIAMI — It was another big night at Fontainebleau’s LIV nightclub, where Miami’s A-list once again turned out to champion one of dance music’s best. After Laidback Luke’s “Super You & Me” party featuring Skrillex on Wednesday night and an epic set by Swedish House Mafia’s Axwell on Thursday, the room was redecorated and the stage was set to host a full night devoted to none other than Kaskade. Kicking off his day with a surprise guest set at Pete Tong’s BBC Radio 1 Pool Party at the Surfcomber, Kaskade (born Ryan Raddon) arrived at LIV fully warmed up by the energetic bikini-clad crowd. The line stretched out into the street and the venue was jam-packed with diehard fans lucky enough to get on the right side of the velvet rope of one of Miami Music Week’s biggest shows. Mid-set, a tripped fire alarm caused a brief intermission while the system reset. The crowd, however, egged on by Kaskade’s impromptu storytelling and comedic sense on the mic, began their own frenzied chants, including the hook from the circa-2000 techno hit “Kernkraft 400” by Zombie Nation, a moment that sparked nostalgia for more than just a few in the crowd. But when the green light came to turn the music back to max, Kaskade kicked the party into high gear. Raddon has always had a knack for bringing his biggest to the stage, and tonight was no exception. With a massive remix of his and Deadmau5’s “Move for Me” — transformed into a very catchy, wobbly synthed banger — the crowd couldn’t resist the temptation to sing along to the new rendition of one of his biggest hits ever. He then dropped a rework of another one of his original smashes, this time with “Don’t Stop Dancing Girl,” which he infused with melodic piano riffs and thumping beats. Shortly thereafter, Raddon, known for his penchant for mash-ups, which he often shares with his fans on #MusicMondays, dropped a mix of Marco V’s “Reaver” with Red Carpet’s 2007 smash “Alright.” Rounding out the hour with Max Vangeli and AN21’s remix of Pendulum’s “The Island,” Raddon again set the bar as one of the world’s premier DJs, whose success and talent in the studio transitions seamlessly to his live gigs and beyond. To those lucky enough to attend Kaskade’s night at LIV, it was one for the ages. Checking out Kaskade tonight on Ultra Music Festivals Main Stage? If you guessed non-muthafu*kin factors… you guessed right! Suzy, Royce and a few other non-Evelyn lookin’ broads showed up to party with the ballers. Chris Brown’s Publicist Throws Up The Deuces;Terminates Relationship

View post:

Chris Brown’s publicist called it quits after the singer had a meltdown in his dressing room at ABC’s “Good Morning America,” which resulted in Brown smashing a window and leaving the studio with his shirt off. Sources tell the New York Post that the two decided to end their business relationship. Who could blame her for bailing? The public fallout to Brown’s latest faux pas, to put it lightly, certainly would be quite a lot for any publicist to handle. Maybe Brown should find out who’s representing Kanye West…. or better yet, Mel Gibson. RELATED: Chris Brown Gets It In At F.A.M.E. Swedish House Mafia’s ‘One Night Stand’: A Behind-The-Scenes Look

Swedish House Mafia (file) Photo: Denise Truscello/WireImage In case you’ve missed it, they’re building a little something on the beach along 8th Street and Ocean Drive in Miami. No, that’s not an airplane hangar, although it could just as easily be one. We’re just one day away from putting our “Masks On” and joining the Swedish House Mafia as they present their highly anticipated “Masquerade Motel: One Night Stand,” a 10-hour mini festival featuring the likes of A-Trak, Armand Van Helden, Max Vangeli, AN21, Dirty South and Pete Tong, among others. Won’t be in Miami? Well, you’re in luck. MTV News was fortunate enough to get an inside look at the arena under construction when show director Christian Larson gave us a tour. “The ‘Masquerade Motel’ was a concept that was born in Ibiza in Spain, where the boys have their club night every summer,” he explained. “It’s sexy, it’s mysterious. It’s nighttime in Ibiza — it’s summer and it’s hot — and that’s what we’re bringing together in the concept now, because we think it really works for Miami.” Taking over a full three blocks of beachfront real estate in the sand, “One Night Stand” is both physically and technically one of the biggest events ever held in South Beach. “We’ve got about 110,000 watts of sound, just being loaded in right now, a whole lot of lighting, [and] about 700 square feet of HD video wall,” Larson said. “So there’s a lot of cool [things] to see!” But the fun doesn’t stop within the confines of the physical arena; the party will actually spill out onto another massive section of oceanfront sand, effectively doubling the overall footprint of the show. “There’s a huge area out there, there’s going to be tanning beds [and] misters and bars and food,” Larson said. There will also be plenty of bikini-clad fans of the international superstars, dancing the day away in the sand. Swedish House Mafia members Axwell, Ingrosso and Angello wouldn’t have it any other way. Being directly involved in the event’s most minute details from conception to completion, the creativity and originality of the Swedes permeate every square inch of their Miami masterpiece. “The guys always have so many ideas,” Larson said. “And they obviously have a lot of new music prepared for the show that they’re really excited to play to the crowd. They’re so involved in everything, from the dress code to the sunbathing area to what things should look like to the VIP [area] and the pyros. ‘We want more confetti! And more screens!’ “Steve was just here on the site and he said, ‘We should have four huge JumboTrons on the beach so people can see everything from the water!’ Larson continued with a laugh. “So we’re just going to make that happen, I guess!” While it hasn’t yet been confirmed whether the last-minute big screens will indeed be in place for what is sure to be thousands of curious onlookers, fans do have a chance to get their hands on tickets if they partake in a little scavenger hunt that the boys have arranged. Just find all the “keys” posted around Miami Beach and you could gain access to one of Miami Music Week’s most sought-after events! Blake Lewis Worries Casey Abrams Is ‘Scaring America’ On ‘Idol’

‘He looks like he’s going to punch a baby,’ the season-six runner-up says on MTV News’ ‘Idol Party Live.’ By Kara Warner, with reporting by Jim Cantiello Blake Lewis on “Idol Party Live” via Skype Photo: MTV News If you’re an “American Idol” fan and haven’t yet tuned in to MTV News’ “Idol Party Live” with our own Jim Cantiello, you are missing out. This week, Cantiello and hilarious guest commentator Michael Buckley were joined (via Skype) by season-six runner-up Blake Lewis, who shared his thoughts on his favorite contestants and his continued love for Jennifer Lopez. First up, Lewis’ rapid-fire thoughts on the season 10 contestants. In the thumbs-up category, Lewis likes Jacob Lusk, Stefano Langone and Casey Abrams, the latter of whom he offered a few words of advice in order to avoid being sent to the bottom three or eliminated too early. “I like Casey, [but] I think he’s been scaring America,” Lewis said. “He looks like he’s going to punch a baby. I want him to smile. … Each week he’s been screaming.” Lewis was equally forthcoming with his opinions on the female contestants, and he was particularly surprised to learn that Haley Reinhart avoided elimination but did admit she has the chops to sing. “I think she’s a great vocalist, but she’s unsure,” he said. Regarding early favorite Pia Toscano, Lewis joined the ranks of many “Idol” watchers with a plea for Toscano to sing something other than a ballad. “I want her to sing something uptempo,” he said. “The producers need to arrange something groovy for her voice.” Speaking of love for the ladies, Lewis didn’t miss an opportunity to praise the judging talents of Lopez, who was one of his celebrity mentors during the season six. “I’ve been praising J.Lo, because she’s just a queen and her comments are right on,” Lewis said, adding that he “fell in love with her” when she made an appearance on the show during Latin Week. “My love is so strong. She was the best mentor for our season,” he said. What do you think of Blake’s “Idol” thoughts? Let us know in the comments! Earlier in the day, he made headlines when he had a public meltdown backstage after his interview with “Good Morning America,” but by the time the party started, Brown just wanted to redirect the energy to his album. “It was good. There was nothing but girls in there,” DJ Juanyto, who was at the party, told MTV News. “He came onstage, no Hollywoodness. He took all that energy from everyone and started performing. It was dope. He’s really all about the fans. There was no drama whatsoever. When he’s around his fans, he has all that love. He’s really all about interacting with his fans.” Brown stayed at the party for about two hours and made sure that the focus stayed on his fan appreciation. “He just really was all about his fans,” Juanyto added. “He really made sure he spent all of his time with them, and he thanked them for coming out. Dirty South Teams Up With Axwell, Rudy For ‘Dreams’

Aussie says he hopes to have track ready for Miami Music Week. By Adam Stewart Dirty South Photo: MTV News It’s looking like another big year for Aussie Dirty South (born Dragan Roganovic) as he gears up for what’s certain to be a massive week in Miami. Coming off a huge 2010, highlighted by his club smash “Phazing,” Roganovic is now poised to unleash a Miami monster with good friend and Swedish House Mafia third Axwell . “He was actually just here with me in the studio a few minutes ago,” Roganovic told MTV News. “We’ve been working on our new track along with Rudy called ‘Dreams,’ a really solid big-room track that we’re trying have finished for Miami.” If it indeed makes the cut in time for Miami Music Week, the piano-laden progressive house bomb featuring Rudy’s vocals is poised to be one of Miami’s most-buzzed-about tracks. Having already been featured on several Dirty South and Axwell collaborations including their latest, “Open Your Heart,” and Axwell’s anthemic remix of TV Rock’s “In the Air,” Rudy brings high-flying and euphoric vocals into the mix. “Dreams” comes on the heels of another massive release, “Coming Home” featuring Skylar Grey, a remix commissioned by Diddy himself, which dropped on Beatport just last week and is grabbing massive support from the likes of Pete Tong and others. Dirty South will have a major presence at some of Miami’s biggest shows this week, including his own Star Phazing party Thursday at Mansion and the Surfcomber Closing Party with Axwell on Sunday. He’s also slated to take the stage at Swedish House Mafia’s “Miami Masquerade Motel: One Night Stand,” where he’ll play along with, among many others, his good friend Max Vangeli. Some fans expressed concern the two DJs were feuding, based on some recent tweets. “First gym session in a while, I’m in pain!” Vangeli tweeted. “You mean, you just got back from ‘Pilates For Young Women Class’?” Dirty South wrote back. “It’s funny with Max and I. Most people totally understand that it was just him and I going back and forth, totally joking around,” Roganovic explained with a laugh. “But some people took it seriously and thought were really going at it! But it’s all fun, and we’re good friends. We’re actually getting shirts made up for Miami with the two of us with boxing gloves on!” Related Artists Dirty South Axwell

Whether waiting for his next endearing words of encouragement or recapping his numerous outlandish and creative expletives , America is having as much fun watching Tyler as he seems to be having himself. And aside from Tyler’s newfound fans, via “Idol,” no one is more thrilled for his resurgence in popularity than his daughter Liv.
